2-0 out of 5 stars Didn't strike her fancy
My 1 year old received this train as a first b-day gift.It wasn't nearly as exciting as the Sesame Street "Teach and Go" train we inherited from my brother's kids.It doesn't move unless you push it yourself, unlike the Teach and Go train that goes on its own. It mainly sings songs and you can stack it, but the parts of the attachable cars don't have any interactive parts.Boring! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Lights, Music and Movement!
I bought this for my four-month old (too early for her to actually activate it) because I needed to stimulate her and get her to turn her head left - she always wants to look in another direction.Finding that task difficult, I thought I needed something bright and simple for her to focus on - and she loves it!The music, lights, movement and the sounds of the balls whirling around in the turtle seem to fascinate her.I couldn't be more pleased. She likes to look at the balls individually and is able to grasp them - I feel like she will eventually grow into interacting with it herself, but in the meantime, it is definitely accomplishing what I intended it to - I plan on tryingsomething similar to alternate so that she doesn't get bored!A great toy!

4-0 out of 5 stars The turtle is a crowd pleaser!
This is a great little toy. A friend got it "by accident" after she heard about my twins obsetion with peek-a-BLOCKS, but it was one of those GOOD mistakes! My 8 month olds have loved it since they were 6 months old. Its great for being able to put them in, and take them out. Soon my 3 year olds "tought" my 8 month olds how to make it work by pushing the head. It was fun for them, their first peek-a-round toy, which eventually lead to more, (just like peek-a-blocks we now have MANY peek-a-rounds and their playsets, the gumball machine, and the jungle)SO this was the first peek-a-round toy and my kids still enjoy playing with it now and then. The few gripes I have are that there is only one song, and it doesnt spin for too long, but it is still a great toy!

2-0 out of 5 stars Not so good
My (5.5 month)son has almost all of fisher price's toys - big and small, and this is probably the most disappointing. He might look at it for 3 seconds. It's just not as attractive as the other peek-a-block or roll-a-round toys! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars greattoy, but forget the picture boards
I bought this toy because my children loved to play with pattern blocks at science and art museums. This was the only toy I found with real wood blocks that were the size and feel of the toys they had played with earlier.Using the blocks alone, my children loved to create an endless number of beautiful geometric patterns. The toy encourages creativity and promotes mathematical thinking.

My daughter, who was five or six at the time, tried using the picture boards. At her age, she was able to do it although it was frustrating when the pieces moved out of place. For awhile, she thought that she had to use the picture boards in order to play with the toy properly.Once she got over that, we had a wonderful toy again.

If you throw away the picture boards from the beginning and let your child's creativity take over, you have a 5 star toy that even older children and adults enjoy tinkering with.

4-0 out of 5 stars My 3-year old loves it!
My daughter received these pattern blocks as a present. At 3 1/2, she now loves to play with them. She enjoys the challenge of putting the blocks on the pattern boards and making pictures.Yes, as another reviewer noted, the wood blocks can slide around on the wood pattern boards. My daughter was initially frustrated that the blocks didn't "stick". But, this is not intended to be a puzzle. After sitting with her a few times and showing her she could just move the blocks back into place, the frustration was gone. This is one of her favorites. She especially likes to pick out 2 of the boards and have someone else make one picture while she's making another.

1-0 out of 5 stars Not as good as it looks.
This is a great concept but it does not work! The wooden pieces do not stay in place as you put the picture together. It's not awful but it frustrates my child, he wants each piece to stay exactly where he put it!I would try 'Playful Patterns' by Discovery Toys.It has foam pieces on a plastic board so they hold. Also, they have more shapes that can be used to make other shapes - semi circles to make circles, right angled triangles to make squares etc. ... Editorial Review

This is an activity toy that will get used, thanks to its multitude of entertaining, developmentally challenging functions; and it has a clean, happy design that'll please parents, too. The plastic tray has four shapes that can be removed from their respective holes and replaced. Each shape has an adorable, simple picture of a farm animal. When the shape is placed correctly, the animal can be pushed to sound a realistic "moo" or "oink." There's a musical function, too, where a song is played instead of an animal noise. The shapes themselves make cute rattles when they're removed. And if that weren't enough, when you flip the thing over, there's a selection of the old reliable baby-amusers: a rotary dial, a mirror, and a line of beads. The whole affair is topped off with a nice carrying handle. Highly recommended. --Claire Dederer ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars WONDERFUL TOY!!!
My mom bought this toy for my 13 month old daughter. She absolutely LOVES it!She loves pushing the animals to hear the sounds they make, taking the shapes out and shaking them (they rattle), and turning it over to play with the items on the other side.It entertains her for a good 30 minutes, which is quite long for a 13 month old.I read that some people were not as impressed with it, but I have not had 1 problem.I would recommend this toy to everyone!

3-0 out of 5 stars Not as great as the reviews would have you believe
I was surprised that this toy got such good reviews, because I am not at all impressed with it. I thought that both of my sons (12 mos. and almost 3 years) would enjoy it, but neither has spent much time with it, despite enjoying other shape sorters - plus, one loves music, the other loves animals/making animal sounds. The shapes are hard to get out, and this frustrates my 1-year-old son. And I was disappointed that the music doesn't play when the shape is inserted; you have to press the shape after putting it in to get the music to play (or bypass that, and push the little button to get the music without even doing the shapes).

5-0 out of 5 stars My toddler approves!
My son is 15 months now and has played with this toy for several months. It has helped teach him animal names and sounds, and he enjoys the music it plays. He also likes the shape sorting, as well as the activities on the other side (a clicking wheel, etc.). We take this toy with us on trips because it provides good entertainment value for its size. ... 4-0 out of 5 stars Cute
My kids have fun with it, yes it it hard for younger ones to do the sorting part. That is the best part, it grows with them, my daughter just throws them or put the tops on after my son sorts them, but he still doesn't even match the face....thats next!!!!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars Great toy!
I bought this eggs for my daughter when she was 7 months old. It was on sale so I did not even take note of the age range.Personally I thought the toy was cute although my husband did not think so.Of course, my daughter could not do the sorting yet.She love to suck the eggs, bang them or throw them from the box. It is very durable. It's her favorite toy and she has lots of fun with it.

3-0 out of 5 stars cute but not that exciting
my 2 year old likes the eggs themselves and likes to carry them around and finds them appealing but its hard for him to see the shapes on the bottom and fit them in because the shape is teeny tiny.I think it would be a cute seasonal item, the pieces are easy to lose though. They dont stay in the tray very well. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Creative Possibilities
This is a colorful and creative toy to keep little fingers and minds busy

5-0 out of 5 stars THE BEST!
If we have to choose just one toy, this is it!!
My son has the blocks everywhere he goes (he's 23 months old), I mean everywhere. In the car, in the restaurants, in the house, he always has some blocks in his hands. He's loved to build blocks for almost an year. The best toy ever.
I also recommend the lego block table (I bought it in Kidsrus store). The table seems a little bit high for a 2 year old boy, so my son has to fold his legs when building blocks on it. But, worth to buy it:-)

5-0 out of 5 stars Good basic
Bought this for my 2 year old who has access to lot of LEGOs at daycare but was asking for LEGOS at home. She loves it, lots of creative games with it, including bath toy, and I have rediscovered my childhood LEGO skills!Excellent basic starter kit.Only reservation for younger child these are medium size blocks, still be cautious on putting in mouth. ... 3-0 out of 5 stars Mom Of 2 Little Tikes
Overall 3 1/2 stars:
Fun *****
Durability *** The blocks have lasted about a year; are starting to chip and splinter. The wagon is still great
Price *** We've got a lot of play out of $15, but I'm buying a new & better block set for Christmas this year.

5-0 out of 5 stars EXCELLENT A MUST HAVE FOR APARTMENT AND CONDO OWNERS
I Have been looking at block sets for a while I live in a 2 bedroom condo and do not have a lot of space My nearly 3 year olddaughter loves to stack things I knew I was getting her a set of blocks..I looked at every one and figured the more blocks that it holds the more I have to pick up.
This is an excellent choice! Not only is this handy but my daughter builds directly in the wagon so I dont have to worry about tripping on a hidden block! This is an excellent choice!

5-0 out of 5 stars Great block set!
Grandma and Grandpa got this for my son (13 months) and he and my daughter (3.5 yr) love it! I wasn't sure if there were enough blocks to build much with, I had looked at 50-75 piece sets in the store, but it seems to be plenty. My daughter has had a great time with them. My son has had a great time knocking them down! He also loves to chew on them, the blocks are big enough that I am not worried about him choking. They also love the wagon - it is very strudy- my son climbs right in it and my daughter has pulled him around the house! This is a great starter block set and you will have it pass on to your grandkids! ... Read more

Editorial Review

You can almost hear the rumble of the construction site.Ambitious young construction workers have got to have good (and fun)equipment, and they can't do much better than this rugged, giant dumptruck filled with Mega Bloks. The 1-foot-wide-by-over-1.5-foot-longplastic dumper comes with dozens of Maxi Mega Bloks in its hauling bed(the biggest, easiest-to-handle block in the Mega Blok line). Asmiling, 3-inch-high driver, complete with green coveralls and a brightyellow hardhat, drives along on tough 5-inch-high plastic wheels, andthe bed on this rig tips back and dumps. Once the quitting whistleblows, a fully articulated, front-mounted crane can help with thecleanup. --Paul Hughes ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars excellent toy
We bought this for our one year old son, he is now three. He plays with it all the time. Very durable, it looks like we just bought it. He puts everything in it and pushes it around. I highly reccommend this toy well worth the money spent.

5-0 out of 5 stars Beware of chipping paint!!!
We recieved this as a 1st birthday gift for our son, who is still going throught the teething/chewing on everything stage. I must say after he played with the little man that is in the truck I was horrified to see his mouth full of yellow paint. It seems the hard hat on the little man is painted and not colored plastic. And it all peels off if it is put in the mouth. My son does love the toy and plays with it all the time, just not the man that goes with it!

4-0 out of 5 stars My son loves it!!
We got this for our son for Christmas last year (he just turned 1).He plays with this everyday! He loves running around and pushing the truck everywhere and especially loves dumping all of the pieces out! The only complaint I have is the latch for the dump bucket. It's hard for him to get it unlatched himself so he can dump the blocks, and that really upsets him.Other than that it's a great toy!!!!! ... My son loves his jungle blocks. He see the tiger and grrrs! He makes the giraffe walk all over our floor.A good add on to the mega bloks.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Toy
My 12 month old got this for his birthday and he loves it. All the pieces are of good quality, no brittle plastic as with some. He really likes the jungle animals (giraffe, tiger, and safari guy) that come with it.It's a good skill building toy since he has to concentrate on trying to stack the blocks, etc.. and also good for creative play. I'm growing tired of everything these days having music/lights/sound, so this is perfect. ... Read more
