Editorial Review

We imagine that constantly traveling via slung web from one skyscraper to another can get a little tiring for our old friend Spiderman. When he feels like moving about in a bit more luxury, Spidey prefers this stylish and well-appointed copter. In contrast to its occupant's primarily red attire, the copter is mostly blue with a few red accents here and there. The cockpit easily holds the included five-inch Spiderman figure (or any five inch figure you might have lying around) and there's a heady arsenal of spring-loaded missiles to fire at Green Goblin or whomever is causing trouble in New York. A set of spider legs on the bottom of the copter can grip to capture and hold those very troublemakers. The missiles and grippers are activated by a trigger on the sizable handle underneath the craft. While one might think the handle would detract from the fantasy of the experience, it's actually a benefit: the copter is easier to manipulate and the copter, free of hands all over it, looks more realistic when being played with. --Charlie Williams ... 4-0 out of 5 stars no complaints
After reading the other reviews I was hesitant to buy this for my 4 year old son...but it was the only thing he kept telling people he wanted for christmas. The helicopter blades fall off but he doesn't seem to mind, and the spiderman figure is less detailed and he actually enjoys it more because of its simplicity. The helicopter is surprisingly more durable than most of the overpriced toys he already has, and he loves it. No complaints here.

1-0 out of 5 stars Return it
This is a terrible toy. The pieces all fall apart and fall off. My son can't play with it without things falling off. Will return this toy,

1-0 out of 5 stars a huge disappointment
This toy was a terrible disappointment. My 7 yr old got it for Christmas, while it looked promising, it was not. It was very difficult to get open, way too much packaging. The rotor blades do not stay on, the "grabbing" claws do not grab, and while I have never bought a "shooting" toy before, the missles are impossible to load, and if you do get them loaded, they dont shoot. The other missles shoot abot 4 inches, and go off whenever they want, not when you launch them. The"exclusive" spiderman action figure looks just like the other 14 spiderman action figures we already have. This was difinitely not worth the money.I gave this toy 1 star for each category, because there isnt a zero star option. ... 2-0 out of 5 stars Poor quality
My 4 year old son received this for his birthday and likes it, but is often frustrated because of the poor quality.Great idea, but poor execution!

3-0 out of 5 stars Action figure worth the price...
I bought this item because my 2 year old was becoming very intrigued with cars and he's a big Spiderman fan. Turns out the car parts aren't that great, but the Spideran action fgure that comes with it is AMAZING!!! The fingers actually bend in so it looks as if Spidey is actually shooting his web. The elbows, knees and even ankles twist and turn. Spiderman himself was worth the price I paid for the car and action figure.

1-0 out of 5 stars Very Disappointing
My 4 1/2 year old son was very excited to get this toy. When he finally got it-he was so disappointed. The missles are flimsy and hard to get back into the car- there's no way that he can do it on his own. The claw in the back is extremely frustrating. It doesn't easily go back into the trunk. He quickly lost interest in this and it has been put in the toy box and never played with again. The age limit either needs to be raised or it needs to be constructed differently. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Its just a piece of junk.
It falls a part too easily. It is not very fun.

2-0 out of 5 stars Cool concept - bad engineering
My son loves spiderman, and he loves magnets. Put the two together and he's in heaven. That is, until I finished assembling the Sky Rider set. It doesn't have a sturdy base, so it tips over and fallsapart easily. My son tangled the string which is supposed to connect to the buildings and the knots are too difficult to untie because the string is so thin. The building has a wall for Spiderman to catapult onto. His magnetic hands and feet are supposed to stick to it before it slides up the building. It has a cardboard distance guide to show how far away the catapult needs to be. I tried it about 20 times. It actually worked 3 times. At least he still has the magnetic Spiderman which he can attach to the refrigerator and my car...Oh, his leg snapped in half while my son was playing with him. It only took my 4-1/2 year old son three weeks to destroy the Sky Rider set and break Spiderman's leg. The toy was designed to do a lot of cool things. The problem is poor engineering. If the toy had a sturdier construction, it would have been a good buy.

1-0 out of 5 stars Run Away! Run Away!
I'll get right to the point. This is the most poorly designed/engineered playset I have seen in my 40 plus years. This product only deserves 0 stars in all the categories. The designers of this toy tried to achieve way too much with very little material and poor quality construction. The pieces don't fit together correctly and attemping to launch spiderman off his launch pad to trigger some of the devices serves only to heighten the frustration level.

Some of the events occur with such velocity that I would be afraid to let my son play with this without me supervising.Case in point, I was setting up the glide wire from one tower to the other and while my head was over the tower my son decided to trip the trigger to pull up the spider net that is supposed to trip the bad guy.The net moved up so fast and with such force it traveled past the top of the tower and hit me in the face. Since the net was empty I was a surprised more than anything, but if a toy figure such as the spider-man figure would have been in ther with his pointy fingers and feet, it may have been a different story. This toy should be called "Product Liability in a Box".

Your wallet and your child will be better off without this pile of poorly manufactured pile of flimsy plastic. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Best Spidey to date!
If you've always wanted a Todd McFarlane version of Spidey this is as close as you could get without calling it a McFarlane Spider-Man.He's got the big white eyes with the bold black outline. The body is slender and wirey as Spidey should be.He's a little tall, but looks really good with the Marvel Legends line. He's well articulated, but not overly done as with previous versions .ie the movie line. He's got some very ingenious shoulder joints that swivel back-and-forth.They are similar to the Spawn figure in the 10th Anniversary set. However, I think these work better because of the added ball joint which the Spawn figure did not have. This figure doesn't have an action feature .ie a button for kicking, punching, etc. action.
Since this series is aimed at kids it comes with a wall Spidey can crawl up on, hence the name of the figure. The wall snaps together. There are two clips that go on Spidey's hands. There is a Spidey nob that is located behind the wall that you move up and down which moves Spidey up and down. When Spidey reaches the top a gargoyle cornice shoots hard plastic webbing. The nice thing is that you don't need the wall because this figure is great on it's own. Most people will toss the wall.I wouldn't toss it.You could fill in the openings with puddy or caulk and paint it making it a great backdrop for Spidey or any of your other 6" figure. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Snap Shot Spider-Man is a great bargain!
Let me begin by stating that I feel that action figures, in general, have immense educational value because they engage a child's imagination in a way that a "learning" toy may not. Thus, I gave Snap Shot Spidey five stars in the area of educational value.

Alright, on to the review. Let me tell you why you want to buy this figure. Whether you're a Spider-Man toy collector or a novice who's looking to get this for that child in your life, you probably know that a wonderful "Super Poseable Spider-Man" was released as part of the Spider-Man 2 movie line. That action figure is considered to be the best Spidey figure ever made.

Until Snap Shot Spidey. One of the laments of action figure and Spidey fans has been that, until now, there hasn't been a super-articulated, comic book-accurate version of Spidey. The "Sinister Six" boxset that was offered last summer (and which can be found here on toysrus.com) included the first ever super-articulated Spider-Man action figure. It's a great figure, and has all of the poseability of the Spider-Man 2 figure that served as its template.

The problem was that, to get this figure, you had to spend $40 whoppers on some villain action figures that aren't terribly well made and/or already produced by Toy Biz. The fine folks over at Toy Biz rectified this by offering Snap Shot Spider-Man, which is the Sinister Six set's Spidey figure, with a different paint application and no underarm webs.

Granted, the camera accessory is highly dubious, unless you're buying for a four to five year old. The action figure is why you want this, and you can't fault Toy Biz for the somewhat inane accessory. They put out at least three different Spidey variant in every wave. That's a lot of accessories/action features to come up with.

They're forgiven because this is such a great figure. Note: the pic provided above is NOT what the final product looks like. It's a promotional pic that was circulated during last year's Toy Fare but never updated.

Your child (or maybe your "inner" child) is going to love this figure. It's durable, has forty-six points of articulation like its Spider-Man 2 counterpart, and is a steal for the price.

1-0 out of 5 stars THE FIRST RELEASE OF THIS FIGURE WAS BETTER...
This is another repackaged Spiderman Classic figure that ToyBiz decided to put out with different hands and different accessories and called it "new".They seem to do that a lot.Instead of coming out with additional villains or other Spiderman characters, they give us this garbage. This sculpt was done first on the Punching Peter Parker with Burglar Trapping Actions figure.A better figure than this one. This figure has the same articulation as the Punching Peter Parker and the joints stay pretty tight. The accessory is OK, but doesn't sell the item.Save your money--pass on this one and get the Punching Peter Parker figure instead. You'll be glad you did. ... 1-0 out of 5 stars Flimsy and frustrating!
My son got the Spider Man Subway Train set as a Christmas present. It LOOKED like it was going to be a lot of fun... seeing Spider Man hanging around upside-down thanks to magnets was something ALL of my kids was anxious to see. However, the thing continually fell apart, and my kids had a tough time putting it back together so that it stayed together. It was frustrating and definitely not worth it.

1-0 out of 5 stars Waste of money & play time.
I bought this for my 4 year old son and he plays with anything that has spider-man on it.However, with this toy, he played with it for about 5 minutes and then just played with the figure and put the subway in a corner. This toy is not very durable since the side of the bus keep coming of the subway even after being snapped back into the subway.I returned it and got my money back!!!There are better spider-man toys out there.

1-0 out of 5 stars Worst Christmas Gift.
My son only asked Santa for this toy. The commercial made it look 100X better than it is.The Doc Ock arms don't move well, the doors fall off and Spidey doesn't flip.
My son doesn't play with it because it keeps falling apart. ... Read more

This toy is a good addition to the stunt system. The only downfall is it doesn't come with a lizard action figure and the catapult doesn't work all the time. Also the jail falls down a lot. Other than that, it is pretty cool. So it is fun, but could be higher quality. ... Read more

Editorial Review

Spider-man is battling the nefarious and powerful Doc Ock in this ornate and amusing playset. Various interlocking sidewalk pieces are included, which help to form an urban scene along with street lamps, a water tower, and dumpster. But these are not mere set dressing, Spidey can swing (albeit somewhat laboriously) from street lamp to street lamp, swing around the water tower, and trap Doc Ock in the dumpster with the help of a special collapsible platform. A motorized getaway car is also featured for whichever character wins the battle. Three-inch action figures of Spider-man, Doc Ock, and some sort of bizarre lizard guy are included and all three are impressively articulated given their size. --Charlie Williams ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Its fun, but not very durable.
I like playing with this and it is fun, but it breaks too easily.

2-0 out of 5 stars very dissapointing for mylittle spidermanfan
My four year old son asked for this for christmas 2004. This is all he ever said he wanted. We were so dissapointed to see his face when it would not work. After about 20 tries spiderman managed to make it half way down the lamposts. Toy makers pay attention!!Santa brings these toys. Would you want your child realizing the toy he asked santa for, and talked about for two months, does not work? I gave five stars for the educational value because he learned a valuable lesson to not judge a toy by what you see on tv. I gave it two stars because it was not a total bust. He loves the little figures that came with it, and uses his imagination when he plays with it. But for forty bucks it should do what it says it will do.

4-0 out of 5 stars great toy for parents and children
I think that this stunt system is a great toy. I bought this for my nephew who is four. I will admit that he has a hard time by himself making spiderman swing from web to web, but you can tell by looking at the toy that it is for older kids (like me Im 25). The day after christmas we played with this toy for hours on the kitchen table, we set up all kind of different stunts, we even made up our own stunts with things from around the kitchen. Did the stunts work out every time? No! nothing is perfect. but we had loads of fun. If you are patient and follow the DIRECTIONS (if your stunt system is not working read the directions, dont just look at them or glance over them, acutally read them) it will work between 70-80% of the time. As for the parents that bought this toy for your kids for Christmas, be patient and play with your children. Parents this is a great toy if you want to spend more time with your children. Parents remember this is a plastic toy, not a german engineered automobile. Have fun!!!!! ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Great for young Spider-Man lovers
My son received this for his 3rd birthday and loves it.He brings it to his Aunts pool and has a great time playing with it.Now that it has gotten cooler out - he still enjoys "flying" the helicopter around the house.Great toy, hours of fun!

4-0 out of 5 stars Meets Expectations
This toy was designed for very young children. The pieces are designed to "pop off" rather than "break off". If you have ever given your child a toy designed for older children and they break it, you will appreciate this. My son loves his Spidey copter, and while the cockpit shield sometimes comes off, it just takes a second to pop it back on. Same with the blades. We have had it for just about a year now, and have had no problems with anything permanently breaking. The only thing I do not like about it is its size. This thing is HUGE! While my son loves it, it's a shame that it only fits one figure, despite how big it is. We have a "Major Powers" Jeep that is smaller and fits 3 figures in it.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Toy
We bought this toy for my 3 year old son as a reward for completing potty training and he loves it.He loves the Spider-Man and Friends figurines and when we saw this helicopter, we knew he had to have it.From the time we got it out of the box until he went to bed he was playing with this toy. From his bedroom, to the front room and even in the tub my son could not get enough of it.I love the fact that he can play with Spider-Man toys that are made for his little, sometime uncoordinated hands. ...
