5-0 out of 5 stars The Ultimate Ravage
This figure is just beautiful in both modes. Some people don't like Ravage being a robot (basically like any other Transformer) with a Beast head. It can look kinda weird if you focus on that. I just love this mold. Tracks and Battle Ravage (who is molded from Tracks). Both have beautiful forms in both robot mode and car mode. Great details, armed to the teeth and dynamic color scheme.

His Decepticon symbol is one of the bigger, bolder symbols in this line. As far as the Decepticon Alternators I own I consider him the best looking all-around. I might move him down a notch when I recieve my Alternator Shockblast (which Amazon now has so go buy it while you can!)

What would have been really cool is if they had a way for Battle Ravage to store his original cassette mode. In the Alternators storyline (well Binaltech which is basically the same thing) Battle Ravage is capable of storing his cassette mode.

Unlike Silverstreak, Smokescreen & Grimlock, Battle Ravage is among the new line of Alternators that look good even in plastic. If you want the best and metallic I'd recommend the Binal Tech line. They are in the $40-50 range. Personally, I never shelled this much out and don't have one of the figures because the Alternators are satisfying and cheap enough for me.

Overall, this is a great figure. I highly recommend buying him.

5-0 out of 5 stars Don't let this "Kitty" go Away
The Alternators line is truly one of a kind, none other come as detailed, and Lives up to the motto "Robots in Disguise" than this one (maybe the early Generation One figures), Autobot Tracks was the hardest one to find, I never got him, but we finally have his "decepti-clone" to add to the collection, I bought this one mostly to complete the "void" that Tracks never filled in my collection, I wasn't dissapointed at all, the black 'Vette really looks nice in both modes, he is a little hard to Transform, mostly the legs will give you trouble, but totally worth it, with the current troubles with alternators distribution(Check the Transformers discussion forums), I consider it awesome that they are back on Amazon, so don't let this opportunity go (I also recommend Grimlock, Windcharger and Swindle)and get Ravage for yourself.

5-0 out of 5 stars A Jaguar becomes a Corvette. Decepticons Forever!
Battle Ravage is a repaint/redeco of the earlier released Tracks. Ravage differs from Tracks' coupe vehicle mode with him being the 2004 Chevy Corvette Z06 convertible. He has new wheels and a sleek black paint job that reminds us of the panther he once was.

One of the fun things about this new release is that collectors of the Beast wars line can use him as "Covert Agent" Ravage in that line as well.

Transformation wise, this one is going to be a challenge. Tracks/Ravage is one of the harder figures to change into a robot. It took me a good twenty minutes to get Tracks/Ravage transformed to robot mode and several weeks to figure out how to change him back. It's tricky getting those legs underneath the windshield and those arms back into position. But once you memorize where things go it should be no problem. The engine becomes the gun on this vehicle.

Ravage/Tracks sports an amazing amount of articulation. Ball jointed neck, shoulders, shoulder pivot, ball jointed elbows, bicep, mid bicep, wrists, trigger finger other, three fingers, semi ball hips double knees (hindered due to car kibble,) and ankles Ravage even has an articulated Jaw!
If you have the Autobot alternators, you have to get the "Covert Agent" to build up your Decepticon ranks.

5-0 out of 5 stars grapple still graples
I have always and always will be a transformers fan and I'm very pleased to have one of my favorite characters again. For the price you just can't beat it.

1-0 out of 5 stars GREAT G1 REISSUE...WELL NOT REALLY.
AFTER WHAT HASBRO DID WITH THE EARLIER REISSUES, THIS ONE TOOK IT FOR THE WORSE.FIRST, THE MISSLES CANNOT BE LAUNCHED FROM IT'S ARMS SINCE THERE'S NO SPRINGS INSIDE.THE HOOK IS JUST PLAIN PLASTIC, NOT CHROME PAINTED.THEN, THE AUTOBOT RUB-SIGN IS NO WHERE TO BE FOUND!REISSUES SHOULD NOT HAVE BEEN MODIFIED ON ANY POINT AT ALL.I BOUGHT MINE AND RETURNED IT BECAUSE I DO NOT CONSIDER THIS AS A REISSUE.SORRY TOYS'R'US.I TRIED TO GET INFORMATION FROM YOUR COMPANY BUT NOTHING CAME BACK.THIS TOY HAS FAILED BY EXPECTATIONS.

2-0 out of 5 stars NOT for kids - G1 for collectors only
My 6 year old really wanted this for Christmas. We didn't know that the G1's are Generation One. That means they are the very first original transformers. Great for a collector, but not for kids. The G1's don't even come close to measuring up to the new transformers. They are very generic & you even have to put the decals on them.

Very overpriced & NOT for kids! ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars A blast from the past returns once again
Skids is one of the lesser known characters from the original Generation 1 Transformers toy line. He had minimal apperances in the 80's cartoon and only a few moments in the comic book. It is no wonder that he seems to have been forgoten in the ranks of figures and characters that you think of when you think Transformers.

This toy is more then worthy of a reissue though and it's a shame that it was over looked as it was. The transformation is pretty good considering. The back part of the van becomes the legs , with the back wheels flipping up into a hidden area. His arms swing out and the head lifts up through the hood while the chest is the front part of the car.

It's a shame that the character never got any real use in the series as he had potential to be intersting and has a very cool toy that I think any fan will enjoy adding to their collection. A Theoretician who took the more peaceful and philosophy filled stance on the Transformers war, rather then being another grunt fighter like a lot of the characters seem to become after awhile. Even his vehicle form fits this personality well. An efficient and roomy type vehicle that your average everyday family would use.

Overall it was a great choice and a great character to add to Series VIII of the reissues. You won't be sorry adding Skids to your army and for a lot of you it may be a first time experience with this toy. He may not have had a lot of exposure but that doesn't make him any less worthy a member of the Autobot ranks. This is a must have for fans old and new, the price is mroe then reasonable and the toy more then worth it. Thanks Hasbro. This was a great choice for the next reissue.

5-0 out of 5 stars Skids saying, "Robotic insecticide?"
Skids is a different mold ,and is very welcomed as a reissue! Skids also has no diaclone twin! It's a dark blue, 2 door ,Honda Hatchback with tinted windows! The two doors ,and the back trunk all open! It's rare for a G1 Autobot car's back trunk to open! I guess Skids is the only one, that can do it! Skids is very durable transformer, with both front and back diecast! The stickers at the side doors, and back light bulb stickers all come off rather easily when you transform him! I had to trim little pieces of transparent tape to hold them stickers in place before they start peeling off more! And I just bought it today at Toysr'us! It also has a minor flaw, when you transform him into robot mode! As you stand him on a solid surface, it can't stand straight due to the wheel that can't go in all the way like the other wheel underneath his feet! So he stands leaning foward instead of straight! I was hoping that they fixed the flaw this time around, cause the older vintage one had this problem too! But I'm happy despite! I'm used to it after all this time! Hasbro,Toysr'us and Amazon keep the G1 reissues coming! Great job! Hope to see more reissues in the near future!

4-0 out of 5 stars More than meets the eye
Personaly I enjoy G1 Transformers toys, but I don't know who Ricohet is. It looks like Jazz with a different paint scheme.that name for the Autobothas never been used in the whole history of Transformers, but I guessoverall it is a good Transformers toy,It might be something I might buy,but if Hasbro is going to continue the G1 line, then they need to get the names right with the cars,or not try to make up a new Transformer that does not exist

4-0 out of 5 stars Great!.......But....
I have purchased the Lattest G1 reissue "Ricochet" and I have to say that it probably looks better than all the autobot cars that have been reissued to date.... even better than his "Jazz" counterpart. The body, metal and modes are excelent. The colors are very neat., (Black on gold is always a winner. But there is something that bothers me and im pretty sure bothers many transformers fans about HASBROS G1 reissues.:
Ricochet was not part of our original 80;s collection. Even though I love the toy and he looks great in my display case, there are so many transformers that us overgrown kids want to see and purchase. What about the Dinobots? There definetly a top seller... Merge groups??? What happened to them??? are you going to reissue them as well????? I just really hope that my new transformer collection doesnt end here and I am getting particulary worried that I havent seen Sideswipe around.... Whats going on????? are our favorite toys not giving you good sales???? I hope not..... Please try to keep us informed of what your plans for the future of Cybertron are.......Matt

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent addition to the Reissue Collection
Ricochet, originally released in Japan as Stepper is an absolutely AMAZING figure.Basically, Ricochet is a re-colorization of G1 Jazz, with the same amount of die cast used in this figure.Ricochet, however has so much more. This figure has a rear peghole in his vehicle mode, where he is able to attach Nightstick, his partner Targetmaster.

Ricochet is also able to attach Nightstick to his shoulder in robot mode, via an adapter piece.

Each of the parts that comes with Ricochet is interchangable with Jazz, adding more play value to the figure.

Whether you are a collector and intend to leave the figure MISP or if you enjoy playing with the G1 figures, this is the toy for you.I highly recommend this figure. ... Read more

Editorial Review

This is not one of those el cheapo plastic Transformers; it’s high quality, metal, and collectible, with superb details and sturdy construction. Even old people (such as this reviewer) who aren’t exactly big Transformers fans can’t help but marvel at the ingenious design that allows a sleek sports car to become, with the right sequence of folds and flips, a ferocious towering robot. And if you can’t figure out exactly how to achieve the transformation, you’re not alone; but don’t worry--just ask your nearest eight-year old for help. Includes decals and weapons.--David Stoesz ... 4-0 out of 5 stars The downfall of G1 reissues
I'm actually sorry to see the current prices of the G1 reissues, not only on Amazon, but also on the Toys R Us stores, because this probably means the END of the american G1 reissues, it's been a while since they released anything new, and so far no news about new releases, so, this is the end, I'm writing this on the Silverstreak post because not only it's one of my favorite Transformers, but because it was the FIRST one I got, as a christmas present, almost 20 years ago, I remember how amazed I was by just looking at the package, and even more when I got it out, simply amazing, even to this day I still am, the G1 line was and it's still great, it's a shame it wasn't very appreciated in the last few years and it's second run ended fast, so don't give it a second thought, get this guys while they last, don't wait for another 20 years.

3-0 out of 5 stars Autobots, transform and roll out!
I am so glad that TRU decided to re-release these classic transformers from back in my grade school days. These toys are still the best Transformers ever!

This Silverstreak re-issue is almost exactly like the original. There are some differences, though.Silversteak's gun is now black, not silver like the original, and the missles do not fire at all (the firing button on the launchers are removed altogether). And let's not forget the name change (originally he was Bluestreak).

I am also a little disappointed by the quality of the re-issue.I compared this Silverstreak to an original Smokescreen I had since '85.For those that don't know, Silverstreak and Smokescreen are exactly the same, just different color scheme. The materials of the re-issue, though still die-cast, feels cheaper, and the workmanship feels coarse and shoddy. These new toys just don't seem to transform as smoothly. Some joints are too tight, while other joints are too loose. The re-issues are made in China, and it just does not live up to the high standards set by the Japanese originals.

If you are a bored 31yrd like me who wants to recapture a bit of child hood memories, this is the toy for you.You are getting a decent re-issue at a reasonable price. But if you are shopping for a kid who has never seen these, you're probably better off buying one of the more current Transformer lines. The classics are more expensive, smaller in size, and more fragile.Only buy for people who will appreciate them.

5-0 out of 5 stars One of my favorite G1 cars.
I remember having my original Silverstreak as a kid. I also remember breaking him trying to transform him. I tried to twist the legs around, forgetting to move the crotch part up to allow this move and broke him in half!

Now I have two Silverstreaks. One opened and one still in the box. I think out of all the G1 cars that were alike (Smokescreen, Prowl and Silverstreak) Silverstreak stands out as the best looking in both car and robot mode. The silver is so sleak and awesome looking. I highly recommend buying it (...). I doubt there are any prices lower then this online. Shop til you drop! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Windcharger is awesome!
I'm just a sucker for red figures. And when you compare the G1 original Windcharger (a very weak bad-looking robot) to this, it is light-years behind this wonderful figure. First off he comes with two hoods. A covertible mode (which looks better) and a full hood which can be used as a shield in robot mode.

While not being too impressed with the car mode (just isn't my type) his robot mode if very impressive and great to look at. His transformation is relatively easy with a catch. I had a bit if a struggle to transform the front end on my Windcharger. Sometimes it's just a matter of being patient. If you force things they can break.

Windcharger did not have any pieces come off in transformation (unlike Grimlock, Silverstreak, Smokescreen & Hound). That's a big plus even though the pieces that come off can be put back together easily (unless really broken).

I highly recommend Windcharger. A great figure.

5-0 out of 5 stars Now, this guy was a surprise
I'm a big fan of the Alternators line, I have all of them up to Battle Ravage, with the exception of Tracks (Lucky people, the ones who found him), I have to admit, I was kind of unsure about WindCharger, he didn't look good on the pictures, specially on vehicle mode, man I was wrong, he is so full of detail, and easy to transform compared to the others, his pieces stay in place on both modes, my only complain would be about his gun, is not complete, the "cannon-exhaust pipe" was cut off, if you want this wait for the binal-tech version (Named Overdrive).
Bottom line is that Windcharger is a great addition to any collection, and fun to play with too.

5-0 out of 5 stars Better then Gee-Wun!
Now I"m a long time fan of Transformers and Alternators are a welcome release next to the Reissues that are out. Windcharger is a nice mold and a fun figure to play with. His converteble top doubles as a sheild not shown in pics. But overall I recomend buying this figure for the kid inside. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Oh man, these are cool.
I remember playing with these things when I was growing up, and the old ones were as poseable as a brick, and broke really easily. Hey, I loved them; they were cars that turned into robots and then fit together with OTHER cars that turned into robots. What's not to love? But the new versions... man, kids these days have it all.

The new line of Energon constructicons are plenty durable and playable, and, like their predecessors, fit together with the other four in the series to make one big robot. Steamhammer is one of the coolest of the bunch, with a large shovel for a hand and several accessories.

These are good toys for kids in general; they make you think sideways in order to figure out how to transform them, and each little puzzle forms part of a bigger puzzle (the larger gestalt robot). Like I said, I loved these growing up and hopefully my kids will, too.

2-0 out of 5 stars SteamHammer: a big steamin' pile of...
Well, I figured it hadda happen eventually, that they'd be makin' combiner sets for the TransFormers Energon line. And, bein' a line chock-full of "tribute" pieces to Gen One favorites, I hadda figure they'd throw a few of those into their combiner sets. And sure enough, that's what they've done here with SteamHammer, whose appearance hearkens back to the greatest TransFormers combiner team of them all, the Constructicons (most notably Scavenger, the Gen One team's backhoe-robot).

Unfortunately, the `Hammer and (with the help of his four companions) the super-bot he transforms into don't really look all that impressive to me. While Constructicon Maximus might have more poseability than Devastator did, Devastator looked a lot cooler just standin' `round than the new guy does in whatever poses you can put `im in. As for Steamie himself: his vehicular form, a futuristic-lookin' steam shovel, is very oddly proportioned. And while his robot form has a nice degree of poseability-- which is a big step up from his Gen One Constructicon forebears-- I'm not too hip with his left arm and hand bein' made up of the shovel boom and scoop. It just ain't stylin'...

Needless to say, I strongly recommend you pass this guy and his companions by, and wait `til Takara/Hasbro puts out a semi-decent-looking "tribute" combiner set...

4-0 out of 5 stars Depth Charge returns for a second time around....
First, I want you to know I'm writing this review based on the original Depth Charge figure released for the Beast Wars line, but as far as I know, the only differences are the color schemes.
Well, first of all, Depth Charge is a pretty nice sized Transformer, and especially in Beast mode, he looks like a big manta ray (atleast for a toy that is). One of the first things I remembered when I got this guy was how many different twist ties were holding him down, so it was a bit of a puzzle to try and unhook him.
Second thing I remember is that Depth Charge wasn't the simplest of Transformers to transform, atleast not without the instructions. I immediatly tried to figure out how to get him into robot mode, but was uncertain how to move his parts this way or that. But after reading the instructions and doing it a few times, it became second nature. The third thing I remember: searching under my bed for the 8th disk that MUST have come with him, since I could only find 7, and the compartment that holds his launching disks could easily hold 8. Well, let me spare you a bit of a headache: he only comes with 7, so you got everything, and no, you didn't lose any parts.
Anyway, back to the review. I think I prefere the original colors of blue, purple, greyand shiny transmetalized silver to this versions' colors, but I guess that doesn't help you much. I'll let you be the judge of the colors, since really I have as much to go on that as you do.
Depth Charges beast mode is pretty cool, like I said, a big manta ray. His tail can be moved from side to side (and actually detaches where attached to the body if too much force is applied, but it's easily reattached). His fins have several places where the can fold, which really isn't neccesary at all for transformation, but I think is a nice touch to the figure. His robot modes' gun is actually a double barreled missle launcher shaped like a small shark (a botton on each side launches it's corresponding missle), and attaches to his beast modes' underside. In the show, the shark was a actually a remote recon probe, which explains why it's docked there. The manta rays' mouth lauches the already mentioned disks. The mechanism is activated by pressing this small fin down on the mata rays' back.
While Beast mode is nice, robot mode is a bit clunky, but I don't think it's too bad. Arms and legs have a good degree of possability, and his find look cool behind his shoudlers. But he especially looks clunky due to the double hunged pieces on his hips that allow for transformation, and the fact that there's a large section sticking outward from the back beyond the wings (this is part of the disk launcher mechanism), which the tail bends down from. But aside from the oddities, I think he has a pretty decent robot mode. Also, his disk launcher mechanism works in this mode too, which is nice. As for additional weapons, he comes with his shark gun, and the end of his tail becomes a sword.
I imagine this is listed as part of the figures' features, but Depth Charge, being a "Transmetal", has a third alternate mode. In manta ray mode, you pull his wings out, and position them pointing forward and going vertically. This is Depth Charges wildly inventive flight mode. It kind of reminds me of when I would take some of my original figures and try to transform them different ways and come up with new forms for them. This one really isn't that creative, but I guess it isn't that bad.I just wish they put a few other features into the third mode.
But overall, I think this figure is a pretty good figure with several nice features, and if you can get over the few oddities thge reobot mode has, I think you'll probably like him.

3-0 out of 5 stars An average Transformer only - not good, not bad.
(...)After opening him, I feel he is worth what I paid for him - no more, no less.Paint applications on this figure are excellent; however, he has such a chunky torso (due to the disc-launcher action feature) and squat legs that he just doesn't look right in robot mode.If you pick him up, leave him in stingray mode. ... 4-0 out of 5 stars He's still gonna getcha!
Ain't nothin' like a new TransFormer that pays tribute to the original Gen One TransFormer toys to get me geezin' `bout those innocent days of wee `Norch-hood. And better yet, there ain't nothin' like a re-released TransFormer toy that actually has a better paint job than the original release. Command Ravage pulls off both the tribute angle AND superior repaint angle with flying colors (so to speak).A repaint of Energon Battle Ravage (check BR out at www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B0000VJJBU/bizrate-5k564-20%21%21mid%3D19460/104-0299549-1691908), this `bot's animal form that's reminiscent of the original Ravage, one of SoundWave's cassette-bot scouts. Only the new guy's a bit bigger, a fair deal more poseable, and transforms into a pretty neat `bot with one of the ugliest mugs I've ever seen on an artificial lifeform. He's also good to go in the articulation (poseability) department for his size in robot mode, with a rotating head, arms at the shoulders, waist, and hips. Actually, the shoulders & hips are ball-jointed, but the outward range of movement is almost nil. He also sports bending elbows, knees, and ankles, and a ball-jointed head in panther-bot mode. Also thrown in for the nostalgia factor is a weapon that resembles Megatron's scope/shoulder-cannon attachment, along with a missile-launching rifle that fires its projectile a decent distance.

But in spite of Command Ravage's fairly cool look and poseability, there are a few things that kinda irk me `bout the guy. For starters, his upper body, which semi-rotates when transforming from one mode to the other, is loath to stay put when I move his arms. Then there's the ball-and-chain tail, which is just plain silly looking. On the upside, it is detachable and makes for a reasonably decent-looking hand weapon. Finally, there are the hand/paw pieces that don't like to stay attached. Other than these little troubles, Command Ravage is one of the better TransFormers in my collection, and is recommended.

3-0 out of 5 stars Armada's Perceptor gets an Upgrade
Energon Perceptor

I was originally reticent to buy this, but due to the recent lack of new toys (I haven't gotten anything since Arcee in June), I gave in. Definitely an improvement over the Armada Perceptor team!

High Wire:

Vehicle Mode: High Wire is my least favorite of the Perceptor team and the main reason why is also one of my main complaints about the Energon line...things don't lock into place and he ends up looking more like a pile of plastic pieces than a sleek dirt bike. The colors are okay, but the entire bottom of the bike is white and it kind of looks dull. When you get it semi into place, it does look nice, but it would have been so much nicer if it was able to lock into place.

Robot Mode: Another case of a decent, but not great idea that just fails in the end. One of my main problems with it is that unlike the picture on the box, the entire top half of the robot mode is unpainted. Sometimes they are able to pull this off, but on this toy, it just looks unfinished. Again, like his Armada predecessor, High Wire has one arm that is just a bike wheel. Kind of disappointing, but I do like the other arm, which has an exhaust pipe that doubles as a possible gun. He doesn't stand up well, but ends up being decent, not good. Oh and he loses points for falling over easily.

Sureshock:

Vehicle Mode: First thing first, unlike High Wire, Sureshock holds together rather well, much to my relief. He's a dirt bike and a definite improvement over his Armada alt-mode. His colors are the same as High Wire, white, dark blue, and Orange, but he adds gold for the "windshield." It's definitely sturdy looking, and everything pegs into place nicely. A very nice alt mode, especially compared to High Wire.

Robot Mode: Another toy which falls over rather easily. And again, the robot mode is a bit of a disappointment. The main problem is his center, which is too thin and too white. He has color carried over from his alt mode, which is nice, but it's not enough. His upper parts are too bulky in comparison to his thin middle. Better than High Wire, but that's damning with faint praise.

Grindor:

Vehicle Mode: The best of the three and it's also the most futuristic (or Cybertronian) of the three. Also the most colorful as he is mostly orange with some of the dark blue and gold (and white for the hover fans) his "brothers" have. In the cartoon Kicker uses him as a hoverboard, but he does look built to carry people inside him, despite the fact that his size would make that a bit difficult!

Robot Mode: Once again, it's a bit of a disappointment. A bit too bulky and the hover fans turned arms are too small for it. Not much else to say, but at least he stands up well and is colorful.

Perceptor (Combined Mode):

*sigh* Without High Wire attached, he's almost perfect. It's a little hard to get his legs (Grindor) into place to look decent and the arms formed from Sureshock's bend the wrong way, but besides that he looks nice and the colors definitely come through on him. You can even turn the hover fans from neat "flairs" on his legs to guns pointed at enemies.

Then you attach High Wire for the head, but it adds backpack kibble, which weighs him down and makes him hard to pose. And the head is hard to get into the exact place to make it look straight and therefore not goofily looking into another direction. Plus High Wire's legs are supposed to be posed nicely behind his head, but it doesn't work that way.

If you get the head on right and fiddle with the kibble, it's a decent combined form and definitely makes up for the deficits in the robot modes. And it's a clear improvement over the Armada Perceptor.

It's not a toy I was dying to get, but it's definitely not my favorite. I'd say it's a B, but more because I'm focusing on the good parts instead of the annoying ones.

4-0 out of 5 stars New Preceptor
Okay, these toys are great (except Sureshock's arms look strange bending backwards :)). One other problem, when they powerlinx, Sureshock's arms become Preceptor's arms, thus having the same strange look (Make no mistake, everything is as it should be, though!). I think that they should have made Grindor the body & arms for Preceptor, like the old one. Overall, I give this toy 4 stars, and I DO like these transformers.
