5-0 out of 5 stars Absolute Fun and more!
This game is hilariously amusing if you are into brainstorming, giving 45 mnt speeches and more. Very fun to play with family and friends,, however it is not really for 8 yrs old and above I would say it would have to start with 14 yr olds and above.

5-0 out of 5 stars great fun!
i had a blast playing this game with my friends!it can get quite hilarious!!(especially if there are good actors in the group) :)

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Family Game

4-0 out of 5 stars Creepy fun to fill those boring nights
I bought this game on a whim, and have had fun with it ever since!Think of it as trivial pursuit with gothic-themed questions.

The object of the game is to fill your graveyard plot with 13 tombstones. To get tombstones, simply answer the questions read to you by the "inquisitor."The questions include categories such as morbid movies, "stiffs" (deceased), gothic music, and books.A lot of the movie questions seem to deal with older horror classics including Hammer horror films, and earlier black and white silent pics like the "Cabinet of Dr. Caligari" and "Nosferatu," as well as Vincent Price and Bela Lugosi films.Much of the music questions seem to come from 80's gothic music including Souxsie and the Banshees and some other early punk, metal, and goth bands.Book questions are geared towards Anne Rice, the Marquis de Sade, Edgar Allen Poe, and horror authors such as John Saul.

True, some of the questions are rather random and don't seem very "goth" related, but for the most part they actually do have something to do with the goth subculture, or at least morbid curiosity. If you are newer to the gothic subculture, then some of the questions might be more difficult, as not very many of them deal with the current scene.Newer bands and movies aren't really mentioned.I would have given this game 5 stars if it had slightly more emphasis on the more current trends in all categories, but it still makes for hours of good, clean, creepy fun!

Hint: If you have read "Goth Chic" by Gavin Baddeley, then you should know much of the material presented in this game!

2-0 out of 5 stars missed potential
It was a nice idea, and the box is very pretty.
Unfortunately the name of the game bears no relation to the subject matter of a good proportion of the questions set. Someone seemed to have a real obsession with 'gansta rappers' and thought that anyone who had been killed was obviously 'goth' even if there was no corrolation whatsoever.
Because of this I think their markets are going to be severely mismatched - the people who buy this game are going to have no interest in half the questions and those who would have been interested in the questions won't pick up the game in the first place.
A real shame - not least because now no-one else can do the job properly, because the name has already been associated with this missed opportunity. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Ridiculous waste of money!
We received this as a Christmas gift and tried playing tonight. Our whole family from our 11 year old up were in stitches reading the questions from this game. Some examples: Where do most fish live? (In water.)What are the mainfeatures in Lava Beds National Monument? (Lava beds.)What part of a boat is the stern? (The back.) What mountain range is found in Rocky Mountain National Park?(The Rockies.)In addition to such challenging questions, the cards suffer from poor editing, with frequent missing words, etc.It was good for a night of laughs as we played and read the questions.(My son who is almost an Eagle Scout got the question "What does BSA stand for?), but anyone expecting a real trivia game will be out good money. ... 2-0 out of 5 stars Complicated
We (five college-educated adults, three with Master's degrees) found this game overly complicated and not very fun.Trivial pursuit is much more fun, and doesn't involve all the money banking. We also found quite a few errors in pronunciations provided--important in a spelling game.

5-0 out of 5 stars Put on your thinking caps!
With two lawyers and two teenagers at demanding high schools in the family, you'd think this would be a snap, but not at all. You'll become acquainted with geography you never heard of and people you never knew existed.Strategy is important, but there's enough variability on the roll of the dice to give everyone a chance at success.

4-0 out of 5 stars Frustrating but engaging
"Oxford Dilemma" is a fun board game that challenges your knowledge of spelling, vocabulary, and trivia. In a typical turn, you will be asked to spell a word, based on a difficulty of 1 to 3, in one of four categories: geography, general (usually general vocabulary), famous (people, things), and science. If you spell it correctly, you have the opportunity to define it.Because the categories include geography, science, and famous, the requirement definition can really challenge your knowledge of trivia.Of course, there are sudden windfalls and pitfalls that occur as well, which can determine the outcome of the game.

We found the game fun and challenging. All of us are college-educated adults who consider ourselves of above-average intelligence, and most of us were pretty consistently challenged by some of the words/concepts.And we learned a lot!

We found some minor mistakes in the game - a spelling error, a typo in the pronunciation of a word - and at times we disputed the difficulty rating assigned a word or concept.Words we thought incredibly easy would be given a difficulty rating of "3," while people none of us had heard of (and our group encompassed all different types of interests) were in the "easy"
category. Also, I can see how this would be a frustrating game for those who aren't particularly strong in history, literature, or science.

Still, we enjoyed the game and look forward to playing it again soon! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Fib or Not?This game is great...and that's not a fib!
This is a very fun, entertaining game. It's a great way to interact with and get to know others. We had a lot of laughs and surprises playing it. A bonus is that you can play it with as few as two people.Enjoy!

5-0 out of 5 stars So you think you know everything?
My husband and I have never been short on conversation, so you'd think we'd know everything about each other and our friends.Well, we played this game at one of our parties and were surprised by the number of the interesting, adventurous and even silly little things we learned about everyone. One of the best things about Fib or Not? is that it was very very easy to play - it only took a couple minutes for all of us to get into the swing of the game.

The way it works is that players select subject cards to get a topic for a story. The cards have many great topics that help spur memories of stories (about you, your friends or someone you know). Then players take turns telling stories - but with a twist. The stories can be real or made up.The other players then have to guess if the story really happened or if they are being bluffed.

The game has cute characters that help set the stage for the lightheartedness of the game play, quality game pieces and voting chips that actually feel good in your hands (these weren't made in China!) and easy to understand instructions that also include some tips for good story telling.

In short, we had a blast playing the game and highly recommend it for any party or as an excuse to get together with friends.

5-0 out of 5 stars Get the opportunity to lie for a good reason!
Forget everything mama told you about lying. It's welcome in this game. If your party is lifeless or everyone is sick of the usual activities, grab Fib or Not? to break the ice. Share wild stories, fact or fiction.

Get the party started with the storyteller who has to draw a card to get the topic of the story. The game has many story topics such as telling about a surprise party, getting a scar, or a fear. The pressure doesn't stop there because it's a race against the timer, too.

Each player takes a turn guessing if the story is a tall tale or the real deal. The more people the storyteller bamboozles, the more spaces to move closer to the winner's circle.

Expect to crack up before the game ends and go home talking about so and so's great story. A bonus is the opportunity for players to learn more about one another unless every story is fiction! The game works great at teen parties, college parties, adult get-togethers, family gatherings, and kid events. ... Read more

Editorial Review

Ever wonder what it would be like to play Trivial Pursuit with JulesVerne? Well, take a seat around Peoples of the Planet, the time-traveling triviagame that lets intrepid anthropologists tiptoe around the globe, answeringmultiple-choice questions culled from world cultures past and present. Playersattempt to assemble an "Explorer's Great Book of Ages" by correctly answeringone question in each of nine time periods, from 3 million years B.C. to Y2K.Querying whether fennel seeds in England circa 1084 were used for invincibility,a popcorn-like snack, or odor-eaters or whether that five-ton meteorite that hitRussia in 1888 dissolved, was eaten by the locals, or has since been coveredwith vegetation, the deck of 252 Exploration Cards amuse, amaze, and educate.Factor in the ingenious formula for movement of tokens (there are dice, but nogame board per se) and you'll be begging for a booster pack of question cards.Whether the subject is Mesopotamians or Manhattanites, Peoples of the Planet isout-of-this-world. --Tony Mason ... Editorial Review

Outrageous headlines, some published, some not, are the basisof this game that refuses to take itself seriously. With over 300cards, and many hundreds of headlines, players will have to be on theirtoes to separate fact from fiction. Each card presents four headlinepossibilities. Are "Woman Raises Baby Rhino In Apartment," "BeaverSteals Camper's Wooden Leg," "Man Videos Cat Making Snow Angels," and"Men Get PMS Too," real headlines? (The last one was actuallypublished.) Players determine whether the stories accompanying theheadlines are true or unverified. They wager points at each stage ofthe game, and the player with the most points at the end wins. Plentyof laughter will accompany this game, and the headlines will prove thattruth is, more often than not, stranger than fiction. This game is fortwo to eight players or teams. --Wendy Slotboom ... 1-0 out of 5 stars Horrendous Gameplay, TONS of Grammatical Errors and Typos
I am appalled by this game.First of all, the "news source" used by the game company to compile the headlines is questionable at best, making the gameplay rather random and pointless.Second, nearly every single card is marred by a typo or grammatical error, which I just could not endure.I have written a letter to Lolo about this game, and I also plan to call them.I strongly suggest you SKIP THIS GAME and pick anything else - any game on Amazon would surely be better than this one.

5-0 out of 5 stars WHAT A GAME
WHAT CAN I SAY, THIS GAME HAD ME AND MY HUBAND AND 6 CHILDERN LAUGHING FOR HOURS.IT WAS SO REFRESHING TO PLAY SOMETHING DIFFERENT. I'D RECOMEND THIS GAME TO ANYONE WHO HAS A SENSE OF HUMOR.

5-0 out of 5 stars Hey,who just wants to have fun?
This simple game was a blast at our last party.Absurd headlines are challenged by the players as they try to determine which headline and story is true or not.Players wager on what seems to be true only to find that'snot always the story.

Crazy stories mixed with point wagering combine forquite a fun time. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent game... very challenging!
This game is just as good as an IQ Test, but with gender-biased questions. Our family plays it all the time and it's always a close game. Heaps of fun!

5-0 out of 5 stars I had fun with this game!
My fiance and I purchased this game last night, we have only played once so far and we really enjoyed it!I won, so like the other reviewer said, it may be easier for women, but I just think think that the women may be more educated? It was a close game with my fiance and I and I highly recommend it!

4-0 out of 5 stars Lots of fun - but the math questions are a bit simple...
I own both this Battle of the Sexes board game and the original, and I found this one to be just as entertaining as the first. The questions are very similar to those that would be on an actual IQ test. The one thing that disappointed me were the math questions. They seemed extremely simple... one example is "Mary lied to Fred about how much her shoes cost. She told him they were $400, but they were 2.5 times more than that. How much were the shoes?".It seemed too simple - and it was!All of the math questions aside, this is a great brain-teaser game to play as a group. ... Editorial Review

If you remember playing the popular original in the early '80s, you may want to get this Trivial Pursuit 20th Anniversary edition for nostalgic reasons. If you remember a lot of the last two decades, you'll want to get this edition to test yourself. Moving around the circular board, players collect wedges for correct answers to questions on "all things trivial from the past 20 years." Examples are: What tennis star was forced to do sit-ups in her crib? What became the third nation in the Western Hemisphere to hit a population of 100 million? What was the last Dune novel to be written by Frank Herbert? These and the remaining questions are distributed from a fancy new card shoe that is included. The back of the card dispenser has a small compartment for storing the tokens, pie wedges, and die. The board sports a more streamlined look these days, but still folds up into that familiar pie-shaped wedge when game play is over. --Pam Lauer ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars I agree....Questions are very hard...
Although, yes, the questions are supposed to be hard, it is not fun if noone ever gets any right!

The fun of the original and others is that some know it and others don't.This one takes too long to play becasue it takes too long to get any of the answers right.I'll stick with my other versions.

3-0 out of 5 stars Slightly disappointed
The game is still fun, but many of the questions are so incredibly inane that no one would ever know them.Who really knows who wrote the default ditty that plays when Microsoft Windows boots up?The board is low quality and flimsy; it won't even lay flat on the table, so the dice don't stay on it well.Another reviewer implied that only uneducated people would think the questions were too hard, but my husband and I are both finishing out master's degrees at Emory, and we both found the game boring and frustrating.

2-0 out of 5 stars Don't waste your money
I picked this up on clearance, but I still think I spent too much. The older versions were made of much sturdier material; the cards the questions are printed on are very flimsy. The questions are okay, but many are very obscure.Trivial Pursuit is a great game and it's one of my favorites, but this version is a dud.Save your money if you have the older version; it's still a lot more fun to play. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Best game ever!
I have played most trivia game that are on the market. And I can honestly say that this is the best game I have ever played. In fact, I can play this game with anyone. This game is mostly based on knowledge instead of trivia, so more people can enjoy it. I was also suprised by the number of questions - 4,200 - WOW! the categories are fun. I think this is the best. Once you try it you become addicted. We are planning on buying the Junior version for Christmas. That way the whole family can play together.

Anyone who is a trivia fan is finally content with the McWiz2000. It has way more questions than any other game including trivial puirsuit!!! Personnaly, even though I really like trivia, I'm not all that good, but this game is accesible to anyone. The rules are simple and the categories are entertaining. I recommend it to everyone. 2-0 out of 5 stars could be better
Basically in this game the object is to complete a phrase (an apple a day...keeps the doctor away).I never actually played a full game how you are suppose to.Its kind of slow. The phrases are either way to easy or something I have never heard of.My husband and I read the cards aloud while on a road trip last year.We drove for about six hours and all the cards in the box were not enough to last until we reached our destination. The best part of the game (how we played in the car) was making up crazy answers to the segments we were completely clueless on. ... 2-0 out of 5 stars Interesting concept, frustrating game
My husband and I are college educated people...but my goodness! This game left us both so frustrated that we only played it once. The information in the game should be fun and it was pretty interesting, but the concept had both of us about to pull our hair out.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great game for two or twenty!
This game combines trivia and logic: you (and your partner/team) answer ten multiple choice questions in different categories and then are told how many of them you got right, but not which ones you got right.Kind of like Mastermind, you switch around your answers until all 10 are correct. It's great for two people for a quiet evening, and loads of fun at parties where teams can squabble over which answers are right or wrong. The trivia covers everything from James Madison to Justin Timberlake, so everyone can feel useful. ...
