5-0 out of 5 stars How Many Thomas' s are Enough ?!?
Apparently one cannot have enough Thomases : -)

We have metal Thomas, plastic small Thomas, plastic large Thomas, and even wooden Thomas and now battery powered Thomas and each was a welcome member of the family.

We like them because each has a realm of play and each goes in and out of favor while all remain loved. Each one of them (with perhaps the exception of the wooden Thomas who has lost a good portion of his paint-LOL) has been a rugged little engine.

Battery-powered Thomas is no exception. He has braved sand and soil and continued to run for hours on end without a break and never once has he been less than a most useful engine.

Being pushed manually does not seem to bother him; nor does being stuck in a corner churning away for hours at a time.

A great purchase for the 3 and above set.

Note:it is helpful to have a small screwdriver handy.A fingernail file doesn't work all that well.

5-0 out of 5 stars A great little engine
I have to agree with the other reviewer that the metal engines are so much more durable and longer lasting than the plastic ones. That said, James is just wonderful though. He sure is hard to find at Christmas, however! If you have a Thomas fan or even if you are just beginning, a battery operated train is a must in my book.We have this one, a metal Lionel and an Imainarium brand and they're all just great. The Lionel by far is the strongest and the fastest, but these character trains like James just can't be beat. They provide hours of imaginative play for my little one and he just loves interacting all of his toys with his train set.Especially after watching a Thomas video.I just wish the trains were cheaper to purchase!

5-0 out of 5 stars Still running hard after a year
I first purchased this train for my son when he was 14 months old (a little over a year ago). During this phase, he was in the process of transitioning from crawling to walking. This train was a blast! Thomas (yeh, that's what got me to buy the trains in the first place) went nuts over the train. He followed it everywhere. We never bothered with the tracks back then since he just caught the train and tried to eat it. It's a great thing the train is too big to swallow.

Well since that time, our Thomas the Train collection has grown a great deal. Here in Europe (where Amazon refuses to ship Thomas trains) I pay a premium of nearly 50% extra for the tracks and trains, but it is worth it. We have bridges and tunnels and elevated tracks. Yesterday evening, Thomas and I setup a track with all the features and we let battery Thomas and battery Percy chase each other around.

My Thomas is still extremely interactive with the trains. He likes to hold the trains as they go around the tracks. When he holds a rear car and the engine pulls away, he jumps up and down and cries so hard out of frustration that he seems like he's screaming for ice cream when he can't have it. This is forcing him to attempt many different methods of trying to reattach the trains together. For the moment, he has a very low success rate of reattachment since he doesn't like to turn the engine off to do it, but he is learning.

I recommend this toy highly for children of all ages. My daughter is now 9 months old and received her first Thomas train car to play with, it's the Sodor Cargo Car and she's chewing away on it. I believe she'll be a huge Thomas the Train fan soon. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars To those who've had problems with this product....
To those who have complained about leaks, you must not know that Learning Curve guarantees all of the Thomas products for life.Just contact them and they will replace the piece.Even if your child snaps a piece of track in half or whatever.Their customer service is great.

5-0 out of 5 stars What A Neat Addition To The Thomas Line!
These trains came securely package from Amazon, and my 5 year old son loves them!

He's had them for 4 months, and no sign of leakage. (And believe me, he's rough on them! He stores his trains in a Thomas backpack, so they are jostled around with wooden and die-cast trains.)

The pale blue liquid is clear enough to see the pink octopus and gray shark, and the plastic encasement is very thick.

What a fun addition to the Thomas line, especially if your child has the "Down At The Docks" picture book that these trains are based upon.

1-0 out of 5 stars It's a little leaky
These trains are very neat and my sons loved them when we first got them. They each have been through two sets with the same result...the water leaks out after you've had them awhile. They are not worth the money.I highly recommend investing in another train instead of the aquarium cars. This was the first time my guys have been disappointed with a Thomas product. ... Editorial Review

Frighteningly high above a deep ravine, Thomas the Tank Engine peers over the edge, wondering how he will get to the station on time. He's saved only by the immediate construction of a bridge that gets him clickity-clacking across in no time. The Reverend W. Awdry created the Island of Sodor as a place for childhood imagination to run free with his Thomas the Tank Engine series of books. The Sodor Bay Bridge expands opportunities for dreaming and connects to any of the tracks from the Thomas Wooden Railway System. Two train trestle bridges connect to span 25 inches. Manufactured by high-quality toy maker Learning Curve, the bridge is sturdily made of wood with blue plastic supports to endure years of adventurous play. --Lynne Sampson ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars The Bay bridge is a must
Starting around age 2 the "World of Thomas" and his train friends became the biggest part of my son's days of play. If you are as deep into Thomas as my family is then the Sodor Bay Bridge is a must have. Hours and hours are spend pushing the toy trains over and under the bridge. Your first three starter purchases should be the trains, the tracks and then this bridge.Good Luck it is an expensive "world" your getting into!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars I LOVED it ... and so did my nephew
I ordered the bridge and then read the review that said the bridge didn't come with the ascending tracks. My trip to a local independent toy store confirmed the review. After purchasing additional tracks ... and driving 4 hours so that the tracks would make it in time for his 3rd birthday, he opened the box and I shocked to see the tracks he needed to connect the bridge to the rest of his set.I guess the manufacturer has addressed this issue....

I played with it (the bridge, figure 8 set with battery powered engine, and additional tracks) for a good hour before realizing I was enjoying it more than him!The tracks are extremely durable. My nephew and his brother and sister all loved it.

4-0 out of 5 stars Love this, but . . .
I bought this accessory for my 2-year-old son Sam, and he loves everything about it except the fact that there is not quite enough top clearance for trains to pass underneath -- You have to set the spans on blocks for that. I also agree that the set should include the ascending track, or at least anotice that it's sold separately. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Not enough curved pieces
The tracks are great although with just this set one can not make a complete track - you have to buy more sets to do that.

5-0 out of 5 stars Very Durable!
I have two extremely active boys that play with these train sets.We have some of the name brand sets and a LOT of the Imaginarium sets, the only peices we have had to break (splinter) are the name brand peices. They are well worth the money!

The only problem I have is the tressel bridge, which doesn't seem to stand up to very active play--mind you though that my boys are extremely active! The bridge just keeps falling down during play.

5-0 out of 5 stars Delicate - Not for average boys
It was a lot of fun. However, the wood quality is not as good as the Thomas series. It is easier to break (after only one day, as oppose to 6 months or so of Thomas series we owned), and I do not know if Imaginarium carries lifetime warranty. They do not have their own website. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Very disappointed
I was quite disappointed when I received the hot wheels learning computer.THe screen is about the size of a credit cardThe few games it offers makes Atari (from the 80"s) look high tech.Just not designed well.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great learning tool!
I got this for my 9 yo son for Christmas and he loves it!!!The screen is small but the games are outstanding! The cover looks like the front of a race car and that impressed him. To him, it's a laptop computer and he can take it anywhere. This is definitely a game to make a child think and participate so he's not sitting around vegetating on a mindless computer game all day. The games he has played so far are challenging but fun. I have played a few of them with him and I have enjoyed it too.I also like that I can get an AC adapter for it and expansion cards to add or enhance the games already there. I would say this is a good investment in supplementing my child's education.

3-0 out of 5 stars Great LCD - yeah right!
The LCD screen on this toy is too small. You can't see the screen at all and the resolution is horrible. It has great features and wonderful games, but you really can't play them and enjoy them with the display being so small. ... Read more

This is one serious piece of road construction equipment. On one end is a huge spinning blade, perfect for cutting up make-believe pavement. On the other side is a big steamroller and a mammoth rotating drill to bore holes in the road. Both are completely safe, of course. Use the switch on the bottom to set the rig to motorized mode, and let it rumble around the room in forward or reverse, or set it to "freewheeling" and let it sit still while you do the pushing. But the real stars of this toy are the authentic sounds itmakes--drilling, grinding, beeping--all realistically done and all noisy enough to suit construction fans. --John Moe ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Boys Toy
Tonka is good at making fun/durable toys and Leapfrog educational toys; this is a great fun toy. This Road Constructer has been a great hit with my 2 boys (4years and 18mos), it's very durable and has strong effect-features (sparking cutting blade, rotating drill tool and sounds). This picky parent highly recommends this for fun time.

2-0 out of 5 stars Not durable
My son got this tonka for christmas and it became one of his favorite toys. Thats until it broke! The rotating drill on ours broke right off. Now my 2 yr old hardly ever plays with it. They could have built the drill part better....oh well.

4-0 out of 5 stars Pleased
I found this on clearance for my son. I can't really see paying full price for it. Especially with the quality of most expensive toys these days. But I have to say, Tonka does seem to be continuing their legacy of well built toys. My son loves it (even though the drill sparking and grinding kinda scared him at first). He loves flipping the switch and watching it beep it's way down the hall all by itself. Him and his friends have even used it ouside to dig holes! I couldn't believe the little plastic drill was actually putting holes in the ground, but it was. It got all sorts of dirt in crevices even I couldn't reach, but it did eventually "air out" and it still runs great. For anyone with a child who loves construction trucks, I strongly recommend Tonka. They're one of the few companies still trying to keep a certain level of quality in their products. ... Read more

This is my faveroite engine in the world. He is magnetic so he can connect to my other trains.Salty and i share so many adventures and he is my favorite. I love salty.

5-0 out of 5 stars Very Cute
Salty is an adorable addition to our Thomas set.He really looks great going around the train table! We added Salty to our collection along with Cranky, as seen is "Salty's Secret" VHS.Salty is a good pick for the younger Thomas fans as he is a larger engine and easy to push along the track. Also very brightly colored!

5-0 out of 5 stars Salty looks different in the picture
The Salty that I own and all other ones i've seen in person have had three wheels. Also the real Salty has three wheels too. The magnet on Salty is very strong and it can pull a lot of cars. Salty runs smoothly on the track and his wheels work perfectly. This one is a great buy. ... Read more

Oh golly, is this set cute!We just received ours and it is just amazing. The three versions of Percy - coal dust Percy and Chocolate Percy are from "Percy's Chocolate Crunch" and Jack Frost Percy is from "Thomas' Snowy Surprise."My little guy just carries these around all day, makes believe all day with them, takes them to bed, you name it.It's just a very cute set.If you're wondering about Jack Frost Percy regarding the icicles, they are made of a soft rubber and are quite bendable so they won't be breaking off and creating a sharp point.I would still pay attention to that age 3 thing though.Grab these trains - you certainly won't be sorry.Very Highly recommend! ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Emily the old-fashioned engine
If your child enjoys acting out the Thomas & Friends series, then they should know that Emily is one of the friendlier engines. She is an old-fashioned engine, with large inner wheels. She is the first female steam engine, apart from Lady, who only appeared in the Thomas & The Magic Railroad movie. She was given 2 green coaches after saving Oliver and Toad when they were stuck on the tracks. Before she had her coaches, she borrowed Annie and Clarabelle from Thomas, which made all the other engines sad.

Emily was just released last year in "Emily's New Coaches" and already, she has a major role, mainly because Thomas & Friends doesn't show female engines very often. I have recommended that Learning Curve sells Emily's coaches, because I don't think Thomas will approve of Emily always taking Annie & Clarabelle!

5-0 out of 5 stars FANTASTIC!!
Both my 4 1/2 year, 1 1/2 year old and myself love Geotrax!!It is so much fun and even more so as you add more pieces to it.The part I love the most is that we never cease to find new ways to set up the track (after acquiring additional track pieces) AND both my kids and myself can have our own remote controlled "train" engine (firetruck, etc.) to control either simultaneously with the others on the track or completely on our own on a separate track. No more squabbling over who gets what!!And I love all the manually controlled additions - the pieces that allow you to add blocks, rocks, tubes, etc. Therefore, it is not all done by a battery and it requires them to practice their dexterity, patience, analyzing, etc.You do need to get more than the basic track set-up to get the full "fun value" out of it but I think they are reasonably priced so that this is possible.Plus, it is very easy to buy additional pieces at later occasions/holidays and/or tell friends and relatives to add it to their lists too - not too costly and normally easy to find (however, seems everyone bought it this Christmas so stores have been out a while). This is a GREAT product and you can't go wrong!!

The switches don't work well when used on the new elevated tracks. You can cut out a piece of the plastic on the bottom so they will fit onto the notch on the elevation stand.FP should have done this in their design.

It's a really noisy day at the quarry. The" blastable" mountain has just been detonated and there is plenty of exposed rock to load up and haul away. Help the enormous rock excavator load up the dump truck and flatbed rail car. Then give it a push and watch the rock quarry rail move tones of rock down the mountain. 5-0 out of 5 stars Great toy, good value
unlike everyone else it seems i have no problems with the mountain working at all. i just assembled the set this evening for my 2 year old and he was so delighted with the explosion, his response each time was oh boy! i used radio shack alkaline batteries my sons set needed no special batteries.Assembly also was simple it took less than 10 minutes even though there wasn't any instructions with the set except for the rock quarry battery assembly. i didn't read any of these reviews first and i'm glad i didn't or else i probably wouldn't have purchased it. i'm so glad i did my son is soooo excited with it. i'm sorry so many of yours didn't work it's really a shame it really is a great toy and a good value.

3-0 out of 5 stars Rock Quarry Did Not Work
I recently purchased the Rock Quarry set for my 2.5 year old son. I am upset that on December 23rd we did a test to see if everything worked, and sure enough the Rock Blaster does not.

I will try the different batteries and we will see.

4-0 out of 5 stars Great train set but not 100%
My 3.5 year old son just recieved this set from his grandprents this weekend and he absolutely loves it! He has been asking for a set for quite some time. The first day he spent 5 hours straight playing with it and has been playing with it daily since. So this is definately a winner for him.

My son seems to love everything about this train set but the reason I will not give it 5 stars is that it took me about an hour to put the set together because the one-page sheet of directions are incorrect and the image on the box/packaging displays an incorrect set up, which I didn't know of course until I figurd out how the set was to be properly assembled. The set comes with one too many pieces, which it is OK to have a spare piece but rather annoying when you are trying to put the set together.

I love the over all quality of the set as the trains, dump truck, crane, and accessories are solid and durable BUT the crane has given us some trouble due to the design of the arm. The arm is made of two pieces of molded palstic with a seam up the middle and with a little piece of thread that is used to raise and lower the little claw scouper. My son pulls on the thread verses using the knob because it is a bit awkward to wind/unwind, even with his little fingers so he can pick up the rocks with the scouper to put them into the train or on to the mountain. The thread keeps pulling up between the molded pieces of plastic in the crane arm which causes the thread to get caught. I am careful when I pull the thread back out but Ifear with this continuously happening the thread will eventually fray and break. The thread has also come untied from the scouper so Ihad abit of a struggle to slide the thread back through and tie it on.

I did not have any trouble with the brand of batteries being used, as I read in other reviews. I am using Energizer batteries and they are working fine. My son really enjoys "blasting" the rocks down.

All-in-all I think this is a great train set and my son absolutely loves it BUT I strongly suggest the manufacturer edit the directions and illustrations properly, shoot a new image for the packaging with the train set displayed correctly, and I suggest their R & D dept look at the design and functionality of the crane arm. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Great if you don't want to waste money on batteries!
If you own Geotrax sets, you're probably going to waste a lot of money on batteries. Not just for the remote controlled engines, but also for the High Chimes clock tower. It only does one special feature: sounds. 3 "AAA" batteries are required for the sounds, which aren't even included! (Trust me, batteries aren't free.)

However, if you own Thomas & Friends sets, you'll probably save some money after buying the Castle clock tower. It does 3 special features: makes ratcheting and dinging sounds, raises and lowers its drawbridge, and even moves its clock hands to tell time. All without the use of batteries. All you have to do is turn the roof.

So, if you'd like a clock tower added to your train set, but don't want to waste a lot of money on batteries, I recommend you stick with Thomas & Friends as your rail and road system and buy the Castle clock tower.

5-0 out of 5 stars One of the better accessories....
We have several of the accessories for Thomas: Cranky the Crane, the Water Tank, some others....This one is very good.It is very sturdy, probably the best built of all.My kids play with it as much as any of the others. It is physically a good looking accessory. You crank the top to raise and lower the bridge, you can set the time, it makes a bell sound.Frankly, your going to have to buy several of these accessories for extending your kid's imagination, and none of the choices are cheap. This is one I would include in my list.It will last as long as your set. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars GeoTrax Track Layout Manual
The GeoTrax Train System is a great addition to your kids toy collection! It provides hours of fun and enjoyment for both you and your child.

I found some "Track Layout Manuals" for the GeoTrax Rail System on eBay. If you've become frustrated with the track assembly process, then this is the answer. Volumes 1, 2 and 3 are available on eBay.

Search for "Geotrax layout" and you will find all three volumes. These layout designs were designed on a computer using CAD software and are of very high quality. It is well worth checking it out.

5-0 out of 5 stars Make Your Geotrax Grow
This set comes with additional track for your Geotrax trains. The set includes two straight bridges, two curves, two switch tracks, a pine tree, railroad crossing signs and a train light. These pieces help you connect various Geotrax sets.

I have found that the switches are easy to operate but do not always stay in place. This could be frustrating for some children but we did not find it to be a real problem. If you have several of the Geotrax train sets or buildings, you will probably find this very helpful.

4-0 out of 5 stars Liked it a lot!
We bought this toy for our 2 year old son and he loved it to begin with...the fun kind of wained after a few weeks of use so we went out and bought a new Trax Pack for it and he loves it again. It is like getting an entire new toy for him...and not an expensive one either for what you get! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Amazingly durable toy!
Our two-year-old has driven this car off of tables, chairs, you name it and it continues to hold up!In fact, if the car lands upright, The Wiggles start singing away and the car moves, even after a big fall. The song gets annoying after a while -- but then, if you're used to The Wiggles like we are, it's not that big a deal. Our son loves this car and uses it just about every day.A real hit!

5-0 out of 5 stars I am buying another! My son wore it out!
Santa bought this for my 2 year old Wiggle's fan and he played with it every day 24 hours a day. So much that my husband has taken it apart a few times and fixed it after it was thrown in the kiddie pool and played with non-stop. I am online now buying another after a year. He simply wore it out. I think it is the cutest thing. Only complaint is that over the year, the sound stopped, then started up again and at one point the car stopped moving, only to play the song, but mysteriously fixed itself. Overall. My kid LOVED it!

5-0 out of 5 stars Great for the littlest Wiggles Fan
My son is only 16 months old, but LOVES this car. It's simple enough for him to do by himself, and does not have any small parts that could be a hazard. The second he saw it, his eyes lit up as he recognized his favorite friends. I would recommend changing the batteries that come with it.Within 3 days after getting it, the car started slowing down, and when I replaced the batteries, it worked better then it did when we got it.Moved much faster - on every surface. An absolute MUST for your Wiggles fan! ... Editorial Review

Resembling a beefed-up Hummer, this all-terrain cruiser for Rescue Heroes figures sports a massive green body, jumbo studded tires, and working sirens and lights mounted to the top. A working tow wench rests on the orange front bumper, which is actually the head of a hidden "bumperbot," or robot, attached to the underside of the vehicle. When paired with a Rescue Hero, the robot communicates in English ("The smoke is heavy!"); otherwise, it's reduced to electronic gibberish. The truck is suitable for a variety of rescue missions--the bumperbot's pneumatic handcuffs, for example, can clear trees or pull victims from car wrecks--and would be a dream toy for many kids. Action figures are sold separately. --Andy Boynton ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Cool cruiser
My kids seem to be enjoying this cruiser. It is very "cool" looking....and the nice larger size that most RH vehicles are, but not obnoxiously large.

I agree with the other reviews about the robot/tow capacity! It doesn't seem to stay in place long enough...although they have seemed to pull some things for periods of time...it occasionally falls off though with enough force. The robot guy itself is pretty cool, just wish it did it's job under the car properly.(Oh, and one of my sons doesn't get why the robot hooks more to the "front" to tow, rather than the back..."that's where the tow truck does it, mom! It should be in the back!"-according to him, and he's right!heehee)

I still think it is worthwhile if your child is into RH/vehicles.

3-0 out of 5 stars Nice Cruiser, Dumb Accessory
My 4-year-old is new to Rescue Heroes so we started his collection for Christmas. We bought this cruiser, but I didn't really understand that you needed the action figure-sidekick combo to really have fun with it (the talking back and forth). My son doesn't really care, he just uses the 2 regular figures he got. He drives it all over the house and it seems to really be a sturdy toy. The robot thing you snap onto the bottom is really stupid, though. Did anyone even test it before putting it on the market? I can't get it into place quite right and when you use it as a wench to pull something else it just falls right off. Good thing my child is creative, he just has the robot stand up and pull "stuck cars" out of the "mud" by itself.

4-0 out of 5 stars Takes a lickin' and keeps on tickin'
Our son "somehow" let this fall down our stairs onto our hardwood floor...it survived and still works fine...I do agree with the robot and the magnets underneath...not real easy to deal with, but overall, this is a cool toy. ... Read more

Editorial Review

The Snow Patrol set includes among its five Hot Wheels vehicles both practical and fantasticways of responding to a deep drift of the white stuff. Among the vehicles is a chunky salt truck withAvalanche Maintenance written on the door, and a crazy-looking, rocket-nosed turbo car on cat tracks. There's also a believable-looking jeep and pickup, and a totally unbelievable dragster on cat tracks and skis.Whatever you do, don't forget your gloves. (By the way, those cat tracks don't turn; there are hiddenminiwheels underneath.) Car styles may vary. --Richard Farr ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Perfect set of cars!
Ok, so you can't pick out what set you are going to get....BIG DEAL! Most kids do not care what cars they have, they just want them. I ordered one set of Matchbox and one of the Hotwheels and was pleased with both selections I received.
It does say right in the description, items may vary-you just have to read it.
My son loves them and I am very happy too.

5-0 out of 5 stars Buy Your Cars at a Store
Hot wheels are a lot of fun and they are a good value. You typically can't go wrong when you buy them. The hitch in buying them on-line, is that you really don't know what cars you are going to get.If you read the fine print, you'll see that the assortment may vary. You could end up with cars that you don't want or with cars that will not work well on your track layout.I really like Amazon, but for Hot Wheels, make a stop at the local toy store.

4-0 out of 5 stars Exceptional 5 Pack
Sure, the cars are cool, but hey-It's just 5 more cars. It isn't educational because the only thing it teaches you is wheels roll! And Hot Wheels cars are durable unless you start to bash one with a hammer, which I've done once to a Hot Wheels truck and it was still a little hard. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Another neat trick by Mattel
Mattel has done it again. This is - just like the Batjet, Batcycles, and Batcopter realeased over the past year, a great addition to any Batman collection. This Batmobile is based on the version used by Batman in the more recent comics.I've always wanted to buy a toy/model based on it, and Mattel has met my need.
Scope and scale aside, this Batmobile is the best one to drive into the Batcave playset.I really like how Mattel has utilized the Batman license, and spread it throughout the company's many brands:Batman, Justice League, Hot Wheels, and Tyco R/C.Mattel has jazzed up Batman in exciting ways that Hasbro failed to do.

5-0 out of 5 stars The Batman Has arrived--and he's in the Batmobile!
This toy is very fun! It is the first remote control vehicle I have had since I was a kid. I love collecting Batman items. And what a great way to also get into R/C's as well. This Batmobile has great handeling & speed, I must say I was very happy with the speed, this wasn't some slow kiddie toy. It really gets up & goes. It also was great going down stairs. My little girls had a wonderful time chasing the Batmoblie. I think anyone who buys this item will be very thrilled. Besides if my gils continue to chase the car every day, then perhaps they'll get to bed earlier at night then I can finaly get some sleep. What a bargin, a fun toy & tired children! ... Read more
