a wonderful time
I bought this truck for my 2-year-old grandson, but the older ones loved it, too, so I ordered 2 more. The three boys played for hours with this truck.I can't wait to see what they do with three of them.

Great truck for tots!Back doors are neat!
I love this truck.My little boy loves to open and close the back doors on this truck and put things in the trailer.This is one of the first bigger trucks that I have seen with that capability.

Great Truck!
This is a fun truck!!!When we got home from purchasing this truck, on of the back doors had popped off, but we put it back on, and it has not come off again.My son really enjoys loading the truck with his smaller cars, or loading toys inside to transport to the toybox during clean-up time.This truck was especially nice on grandma's beautiful hardwood floors - no scratching, and it has not made any marks on our linolium floors at home.I think that if your toddler or preschooler loves trucks, this is a perfect addition to the collection. ... Great Rugged Cement Mixer
My son loves this cement mixer - it is durable, works great on carpet, wooden floor and he enjoys playing with it in his sand box as well! It really adds fun to his sand box play! Well worth the money spent on it!!

Holds up to 4 boys
I have 4 tractor/truck loving boys ages 2,4,5 and 6 and this truck is still going strong (outside even) after 6 months of abuse, I mean use. We bought several expensive Bruder trucks a couple years ago and they were all in pieces quickly. As far as my boys are concerned trucks are for working in the dirt not inside play. My now 6 yo tried to mix real cement in the now 5 yo's Bruder cement truck which of course did it in. When I saw this Little Tykes truck on the shelf at Walmart last December I knew it was the replacement I'd been searching for at a GREAT price. He loves it and while it is much dirtier now it is all in one piece still. The METAL Tonka's and the Rugged Riggz are the only trucks I allow anymore after all the tears over other trucks.

Little Tikes makes the best trucks...
I can't recommend this truck enough.My son is almost 3 and adores it - his very own working cement mixer!He plays with it every single day.He also loves the 4x4 hauler in the Rugged Rigz.Actually, he loves every toy he owns from Little Tikes.They have great big parts, they come apart but go back together easily for a 3 year old, they have no sharp edges, they have easy working moving parts, and they are lots of fun.As the mother of an active almost-3-year old who ADORES trucks and trains and fire engines, I can tell you that these trucks are big, the wheels are soft (not loud on my hardwood floors!), there are no sharp edges to scrape or scratch my baby, they clean very easily, they are DURABLE (!!!!) and your child will not be able to destroy or mutilate them no matter what torture they put them through!They can go outside or inside.I love Little Tikes toys - they are a Mom's - and a little boys - dream come true. ... 5 star Fire Engine!
This truck is awesome! I bought it for my son (3 at the time) but my 2 daughters (ages 2 and 5) also enjoy it.The latches make it educational but it is just plain fun for them to cart things around in.It was a bit expensive for me but after a year of having it I do feel it was worth every penny.The paint does wear off the wheels from a lot of use (that and we have tile floor it rolls over which can be kind of rough).If you are looking for something fun and educational that does not require batteries this will be a sure hit for any boy or girl.Especially if they like fire engines as much as we do. ... Piece of JUNK!!
I would actually not give this toy any stars. We received the toy, spent the time to put it together, bought brand new batteries and installed them and it didn't work.
The motor did nothing. Took it to Toys R Us and exchanged it....same thing....didn't work. Finally got something else instead.

My son loves his.
Set-up was prolonged by the picture-based manual.Structural parts are clearly labeled with the part number.The instructions recommend using the guides in the manual to measure key distances - not necessary as the struts are ruled in inches and the tolerances are not that critical.The Tech Trax track interconnects with easily aligned slots and tabs.Much better than the old orange track obviating the potential for misaligned track to impede the progress of the racer.The vehicle will not stay on the track without the well-designed guard-rail system.I adjusted the position of a few rail clips on the ramp panel to allow easier return of the vehicle to the power booster.Notwithstanding, my 6 year old and I got it up in running in under an hour.

With (2) fresh D-cells in the booster, the included Jump Master vehicle easily cleared both jumps and circled the track at blinding speed. There was little tweaking necessary.The only additional adjustment I made was to the angle of the ring support / inner swivel ring - The jumps were impossible at steep angles.The sweet spot is with the ring support about 10 degrees off the horizontal.

I am very impressed by the layout and my son showed excitement after each completed step.So much so that upon completion, he was soon joined by his older siblings (9 & 12) and they held a championship for the most completed laps without crashing or stalling.My 9 year old holds the current record at 15 laps.They played with this set for hours (yes, hours!)

Santa also brought the (3) available 2-car kits:Jump Master, Turbo Torque, and Power Pivot (a bargain at $4 or $5 per set).Each set is uniquely designed with inline flexion, axial torsion, and lateral pivoting, respectively.The sets include weights that can be positioned to change the performance of the vehicle.All cars functioned very well on the layout except when no weights were applied.

Over all, I found this layout to be great fun and construction provides some education in design and engineering.I plan to purchase the Airstunt Challenge Stunt Set and any of the other add-ons that are not included in either set.

CRASH HAPPY MOMMY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
First let me say we purchased the air stunt teck trax set for christmas.My hubby had a blast putting it together only to get down to one of the last sections and am missing one of the pieces of track.Of course I have a sad and unhappy special needs 8 year old son who just didn't understand that things like that happen.So first thing Sunday morning we trail off to Toys R Us where we purchased it to tell them.Bring the book in and show us the missing piece and we'll see what we can come up with.So of course I didn't have the heart to go out to the car empty handed so I bought the Crash Chamber thinking we could use one of those pieces for it.We put the Chamber together which was really simple and fast.Hubby had a blast while my son waited impatiently for his new toy yet again.So we turn it on and boom the thing worked first try out.The only problem we had was getting them around the top portion just before they go through the shoot.I had a blast watching these little cars fly through this thing and some with the lovely help of my son went flying across the room.We all laughed and had a ball.I am not a toy person so this is a first for me.So buy it if you want dont' if you don't. ... Jet engine is LOUD! But my kid loves it anyway
This train (if you can call a jet engine that) is so LOUD and annoying for parents. I'm sure that the noise is part of the reason why my 2 1/2 year old son loves the jet engine along with the fact that it can only push trains (not pull) and it will frequently rocket off of the track on tight turns. I'm sure that this fast derailment is a design flaw but my kid loves it! So parents be forewarned, this is a crazy & loud train that might dissapoint some adults and thrill the kids.

Goes off track around curves. Does not pull other cars.
I bought this for my 2 1/2 year old son who loves trains. We have a Brio engine, but it is not strong enough to pull many cars (my son likes to put about 5 or more cares behind the engine). I figured with this Jet Engine taking 2 AA batteries, it would be up to the task.
Well, we found several problems:
1. It is so fast that it often goes off the track around curves (especially the shorter curve track pieces). We have one Y shaped track piece and the jet engine just goes right down the center and off the end.
2. The jet engine only pushes, it doesn't pull. There's only a magnet at the front. We tried putting a bunch of cars in front of it, but when the first few cars go around a curve and the jet engine is still on the straight track, it derails.
3. It's loud. I would put up with that if it didn't go off the track so often.

This jet engine really is fast!
My 4yo son received this as a gift. He loves it, and so does his 2yo sister. They have played with it for hours already. the expression on Thomas' face is priceless, but the children just like the jet engine. It needs 2 AA batteries-not one as stated. ... Read more

Bruder Toys
Our 3 1/2 year old loves all the Bruder trucks.They may be made out of plastic but, they are still very tuff.Our son sits on them without any problems.We love the detail of all of vehicles.It makes learning about heavy equipment fun.All of the vehicles have working parts and Bruder's attention to detail is unsurpassed.The small details adds intererst and play time longevity to the toys.Our son plays with them every day and knows the difference between quaility constructed toys and cheap toys.The wheels get pulled off of other brand trucks and put into the dump truck bed of the Brueder.Brueder is the only brand that we will buy!These are not flawed third world country plastic toys.All parts are made and assembled in Germany!The cement mixer is next on his wish list.

High Quality Plastic . . .Not Exactly
Purchased this for a 3 1/2 year old boy.Was hesitant about buying any large, plastic truck, but we did not see any alternatives at the time we purchased this.We should have stuck with our instinct.When it arrived, we were immediately struck by the fact that the plastic seemed flimsy, and that many small plastic pieces that are attached to the grader appeared and felt so cheap and flimsy that we doubted they would survive 5 minutes of play, in our humble opinion.We were not going to wait to find out, and we decided to send this back.You can get a STEEL Tonka 18" grader off of ebay for less than what Amazon is asking for this plastic thing.That's exactly what we did.Good luck! ... Let's have a race!
Now you can own Bertie the bus, Thomas' loyal friend who has always been there to help. Thomas first met Bertie when he got stuck in the snow. Terence came to rescue Thomas and Bertie came to pick up Thomas' passengers. The next time Thomas and Bertie met, Bertie challenged Thomas to a race. If you haven't seen that story, I will not tell you who won, but you can find that story on a lot of Thomas tapes. The only bad thing about this toy is that it doesn't have any magnets or anything but I guess your child will just have to use his/her imagination.

Not as fun as others
Bertie is nice to have but my son barely plays with it. It won't attach to anything else, no magnets. Like another review says, it doesn't go well on the tracks, even the the road side of the dual purpose tracks.

Thomas' Loyal Friend
We recently purchased a road expansion pack for my son's Thomas train layout and Bertie was included.He's got bright red paint and a pleasant smile, and his road expansion set makes a nice addition to the train set.My son has several of the Thomas vehicles and they provide him with hours of fun play.Purchase Bertie or any of the other fine Thomas products for your children.They will definitely have hours of fun playing with them. ... Don't waste your money
I've been viewing the websites for trains sets for my daughter for a while. I've came accross this Deluxe Train Trach Pack 31 Pieces for $34.99.Don't waste your money. This doesn't come with anything.I went to Wal-Mart bought the Kids Connection Brand 60 Pcs. Wooden Train Set, the tracks are double sided so you can Rearrange pieces to create different train routes, comes with trains, bridges, buildings, sings, and more.For the price of $14.88.$34,99 is definetly a rip-off according to some reviews I've read. Check WalMart.com or just go there in person.Do your homework first before dishing out the cash!!

Less expensive way to build your train sets but...
Whenever I can save money by buying these sets instead of the Thomas name brand I do it, because the Thomas stuff can be pricey.Most of the pieces here are of nice quality, and they've held up to play very well.However, the turntable piece shown with this set is a good deal smaller than the Thomas piece of similar design, and some of the larger trains, such as Gordon or Diesel 10 do not fit.Also, the track pieces, although of good quality, are not double-sided like the name brand track.I'm not sorry I bought this, but in the long run it didn't save me money since now I'm buying the Thomas peices to replace some of these.

A great little train!
We bought this train along with the video, James and the Red Balloon and our little one just loves it.He particularly likes the battery operated ones the best and just has a blast playing with James.It works beautifully, and is quite durable.He gets drug all over the place and keeps coming back for more. Plus, he doesn't chew up batteries the way our Brio trains do.Great toy!

Well made, but only goes forward, not back
As are all the Thomas & Friends wooden train toys, this is a very solid toy, built-to-last, although the battery powered Engines aren't actually wood - James is made of die-cast metal and has a bit more heft than the wooden engine. Unlike the Brio powered trains, the Thomas & Friends battery powered trains only go forward, but so far our 3 1/2 and 2 year old kids don't seem to mind too much, and the large start/stop button is easier for young kids to use. They love the working headlamp and like to watch him come through tunnels. James has plenty of strength on flat sections of track to pull pretty much any length train, but does struggle a bit on hills, though will make it up and over without too many cars. James doesn't work well with the Thomas & Friends switching track (the kind that has a working red switch to make the train go straight or turn) - when set to turn, James always ends up going off the track. However, I think that is mostly a problem with the switching track design, and not the train.

Two windup cars, Police Car and Street Racer, chase each other around the track with the press of an activation button. A jump propels the cars over a missing section of road, while a roadblock net helps the cops capture the Racer. All in all, it seems like trouble waiting to happen. Not nearly as good as the Maximum Thrills Raceway
This toy is more expensive, more complicated and more difficult to operate than the Speedstars Maximum Thrills Raceway toy which is priced at less than half of what this toy costs.The police car rarely makes it around the track more than once before crashing which then makes the race car crash.Also, you have to set the cars in their starting positions, push the buttons on the top of the cars and then release the lever - way too many steps for a preschooler who only wants to see the cars go.Save your money and get the Maximum Thrills Raceway!

Awesome toy!!pretty darn fun for under 40 bucks
I don't know about some of the negative reviews on this product.It is extremely durable and the cars are great.It makes me wonder if the track was put together properly by the parents.The cars do "jump the track" if you try and run them without their bodies on (they are removable and interchangeable from chassis to chassis).Also, I tried to run the cars without the guardrail installed and this also caused them to jump and flip off the track (I like to try all of the things that a curious 2 year old might try).The review about the wheels burning you is a feasible problem but I have not run into it...yet.

It was a Santa present for my 21 month old son, and though he couldn't wind the cars up by himself then, he sure loved watching them chase each other!Now he's 2 and he still gets a kick out of it at least a couple of times a week, and he's grasping the concept and winds the cars and goes through the whole process to get things moving.I love that you don't need batteries and that you can use the cars off the track (on level floors and even a short nap carpet).I would like to find more add-on's and cars to bring a little of the excitement back to it.We all have fun with it, my ten year old daughter included.

Once it's put together it's a little large to store if you don't have much space (it fits under the bed though)
It's a little loud
Fun, fun, fun for the first week or two
The track is a little small and uneventful (too bulky for storage, too small for years of fun)
The "outlaw" car is an import looks like a Toyota Supra (I can't help it I love American muscle!!)

BE CAREFUL WITH THE WHEELS
THE MAIN REASON FOR MY REVIEW IS TO LET THE PARENTS BECOME AWARE THAT ONCE THE CARS ARE WOUND UP THE WHEELS CAN REALLY BURN YOUR CHILD IF HE/SHE PICKS IT UP IN THE MIDDLE OF THE RACE. I DON'T CARE THE AGE RANGE, I WAS CAUGHT OFF GUARD AND GOT A BAD BURN ON MY WRIST.

My Son Loves The Water Tower!
My son had been asking for the Water Tower for quite some time, so we finally got it for him.

The plastic that encases the liquid is very, very sturdy--and it has never leaked. (Believe me...my son puts his Thomas accessories through the paces!) It's quite heavy, and fits right onto the wooden railway. By moving the black spout up and down, the blue liquid appears to empty and re-fill.

Kids seem to be fascinated with it, including my son. I definitely recommend the Water Tower as a neat accessory to any wooden railway system.

Neat addition to your train set

What a great Idea!!!
Both my boys are truely Thomas lovers.Everything is Thomas the Tank Engine.My children love this toy.We have two of them and I have purchased two additional ones for friends and family.This toy is compact, great for small children and I loved that the detachable pieces fit into the carrying case.We have taken these into restaurants, on vacation etc...It is great.

Perfect "pocket" toy
This toy has been a lifesaver - always ready to go (the green plastic base doubles as a carrying case and everything fits inside), this is the toy that I grab in a hurry. It has been along with us to countless hospital waiting rooms, doctor's offices, long trips in the car, etc. etc.My son never seems to tire of it.Our Thomas doesn't wind up so well anymore, my son perfers to push him.We paid less than ten bucks for ours and it was well worth it.

My son loves to play with the Thomas the Tank Engine wooden track and vehicles-he is 2 1/2 and makes believe that Percy gets all dirty (like in the video) and drives him through the engine wash. He is very creative when playing with his Thomas toys and keeps him busy for hours.The colors are bright and with the numbers on the engines, he is very eager to count and they have also helped with learning his colors!

Excellent addition to my son's collection, he loves it!
My son is 4 and 3/4 years old, and received the engine wash for his third birthday.He has had no difficulty operating it, and it is holding up wonderfully.The foam wash rollers look just like new after having countless trains run through them.There are a few pieces that may get caught up a bit but it's quite easy to release them by giving them a little push from behind.

The same engine wash is part of the local toy store's set, which obviously gets tons of wear.It is holding up very well, and is clearly a favorite of the children who sample it at the store.

I would highly recommend this piece to any Thomas enthusiast age 3 and up.I can imagine it may be challenging for a younger toddler to operate it, but it isn't intended for that age anyway.

This one has been a big hit for two years now!
It is a simple design but for some reason that little door flap that the trains race through as they come down the hill is a joy for kids to see. This one has been played with for two years now and is good as new.

Get's stuck
My son loves watching the trains come crashing through the tunnel trap door.But the smoke stack on the trains gets stuck in the small hole in the door.I taped a piece of brown construction paper on the inside of the door to fix the problem.

A tunnel of fun!
My son has almost every bridge and tunnel made by Thomas, and this one rates among his favorite.He calls it the "spooky tunnel" and belly laughs each time the trains come shooting out the trap door.It is also a goof financial value since it does not cost any more than the basic ones.The only time we have had a problem with trains getting stuck is when we tried to use it with non-Thomas tracks (we have a few from the set out table came with).But with the Thomas tracks, it works fine.Just be warned that you can't back trains in through the door because it only opens one way. ...
