2-0 out of 5 stars This is NOT Scrabble.
I bought this game with the understanding that the word "Srabble" coincided with that family game where you create words from random tiles. This game only allowes itself to be called Scrabble because it uses a gameboard and point system similar to a Scrabble board. Understand me when I say THIS IS NOT SCRABBLE.If you are looking for a Scrabble handheld, look elsewhere. This game is essentially fancied-up Boggle, where you have a Scrabble board filled with tiles and you attempt to make words by connecting tiles together. As the other reviewer said, I also would rather play Bookworm for the Advance.

You cannot save your game, and the cartridge keeps no high scores.Animation is cheap, as is the music and graphics. Avoid!

3-0 out of 5 stars It's okay, but you can't save your game.

5-0 out of 5 stars They finally star in a game, and it's good too
One could very rightly say that there is sort of a rivalry between the Mario Bros. Mario has starred in big games like Mario 64, Sunshine, Mario World, Mario 3 etc. Luigi however doesn't really have great games. He was in Mario is Missing and Luigi's Mansion and he only has co-starring roles like in Mario Party or Mario Kart. So finally they pair up and even then they reference the rivalry in the first game in awhile they star together in.

Story: Princess Cackaletta is bringing a gift to Princess Toadstool only she steals Princess' voice and replaces it with explosive vocabulary. Her words are literally bombs that explode. So off Mario and Luigi, a reluctant Bowser and some other cameos are along for the ride(sort of) has the Mario Bros try to rescue the Princess' voice.

Graphics: Some find it ugly, others say it fits perfectly in this context. I say it's both. It's not incredibly animated like Golden Sun and even one could say Mario RPG from the SNES looks better than this but it fits the atmosphere of the game.

Sound/Music: The ever popular Mario theme returns, as usual remixed too. There is little to no voice acting besides Mario's "let's go!" or Luigi's "alright!" and some other things. Mario games tend to have very little voice acting anyway.

Gameplay: You ONLY control the Mario Bros. This game is the spiritual successors to Mario RPG and Paper Mario, games where you controlled not just the Brothers, but here it's strictly a family affair. And so of course gameplay and battle screens A controls Mario and B controls Luigi always. It's kind of confusing at first, especially since RPG's were always one button for action commands but you'll get the hang of it.

The Brothers can team up on both play areas. Let's say that that platform is too high for them to jump. Put Mario in front and activate Luigi's power with the L and they can do a high jump. Likewise, substituting Luigi for Mario, they can do a Spin Jump which allows them to travel platforms too spaced out. Other abilities come your way like shrinking Mario or pounding Luigi into the dirt.

The game has a light-hearted feel with the dialogue and while not as sharply written as Paper Mario: TTYD, it's still enjoyable to read, especially to the nods to past Mario/Luigi adventures.

The game can be slightly challenging to the young-uns but then again even some stages in Super Mario World will drive anyone nuts but at least it's forgiving here and it's a good game too so it won't hurt to pick it up.

5-0 out of 5 stars Like a Dream Come True! The top of the game pyramid!
I really mean FUN with this Mario Luigi game! I never knew about this game until I got it with my GBA SP (See my last review for info about GBA SP). It's a mix of fantasy, RPG, and wits! You keep doing RPG things. BUT.... You can press buttons for defense, attack, and many new attacks that you learn along the way. I remember playing on of the old Mario games on my Gameboy, This is a revolution for GBPs (Gameboy Packs) (Which means games to play on GB).

You are supposed to rescue not the princess, but her "VOICE". They were stolen by some wierd looking bean guys. You travel with Bowser and try to rescue her voice, but you got separated by him. Mario and Luigi must go to the Beanbean kingdom where the new enemy plans some tricks up her sleeve! This is easy with action, but you need to think in order to finish it. No brains, you won't even finish a level! Oops, gotta play Superstar Saga, I would like to say more, but that's all I'll say. Bye-bye!

5-0 out of 5 stars Pure joy
I have a theory about games like these. My theory is that their developers have secret access to a mysterious element called Happy, which they tuck into the microchip before shipping the game. This causes the strange effect of players not being able to cease smiling as they play the game. I have fallen under the effects of Happy, and here's why.

I loved the look of this game. Clear, sharp, and colorful, with gorgeous animation. I highly reccomend that you play it on a DS or GBA SP, as the extra light heightens the graphics to glorious levels.

The battle system is wonderful. You may not be able to believe that the superb Paper Mario combat system would translate well to a handheld, but ah, how wrong you'd be. Timing the button presses takes concentration, but is never frustrating or boring. You can use hammers, jumps, or even magical powers to attack, as well as an array of fun items.

Then there are the puzzles. This is where the Happy element is in its strongest form. As you progress in the game, you'll earn new abilities, and each and every one will help you solve the near-perfect puzzles. Use your hammer to whack the brother in front of you into the ground...light your partner's pants on fire to make him dash...or jump on his head to reach a high ledge. Whatever it is you have to do, it always makes sense. For this reason, I would reccomend playing without a strategy guide, since using one would ruin the fun of figuring the puzzles out.

The story, which is beautiful in its simplicity, has many twists and turns, so you never know what you might be doing next. One minute you could be hunting for beans to make Yoshis lay eggs, and the next you might be strategically using your hammer to help a fashion designer dye her clothes. This keeps the game fresh and exciting at every turn.

RPG elements are integrated masterfully. You can gain experience, level up, and even buy new equipment. These features add to the game, but never become a pain.

From the beginning, which features Mario running around in his underwear, to the end sequence, wherein Bowser is tied to the back of a plane in a gigantic gift box, this game is pure joy. So play it already. Feel the Happy. ... Read more

Editorial Review

Nothing lends itself better to portable gaming than the arcadeclassics. They're addictive, replayable, and fun--plus it's nice not tohave to pump endless streams of quarters into them. That's what makesNamco Museum such a must-have title for the Game Boy Advancesystem. People too young, or too impatient, to enjoy a good coin-op hadbetter stop reading now.

Like the PlayStation and N64 versions, Namco has packed a few of itsbest games onto the cartridge. For the GBA we get only five titles(four are listed on the front of the box, but Galaxian is alsoincluded). We have two versions of Ms. Pac-Man (one that showsthe whole maze but is dreadfully small, and another that scrolls),Galaga, Pole Position, and Dig Dug. They arelovingly ported, complete with all the music and sound effects intact. What we don't get is the amusing Museum portion and trivia found onother versions.

Ms. Pac-Man and Galaga are the real winners here. Bothare perfect renditions complete with all the extras (music, colors, sound effects, and bonus stages/cartoons). The controls on these twoare also perfect. Pole Position is amusing, but features twitchycontrols and pales in comparison to other GBA racing games.Galaxian, on the surface, seems the same as its sequel,Galaga, but it isn't. The fire rate is much slower, so the paceof the game is different. Galaga is certainly better, butGalaxian is a nice addition regardless. Dig Dug is aclassic, pure and simple, and it still plays well. It rounds out thecollection nicely.

Arcade fans, especially those who used to line up (or line theirquarters on the machine) to play these games, will be very pleased withNamco Museum. Those unimpressed with retro gaming probably won'tbe converted. However, here's hoping we see more arcade classics in thefuture, because I can't think of a better platform for these than theGame Boy Advance. --Andrew S. Bub

Pros:

  • Perfect recreations of arcade classics
  • A nice, diverse slate of games
  • Nice of them to include two versions of Ms. Pac-Man
Cons:
  • Pole Position isn't so hot anymore
  • No Museum features, such as trivia questions

4-0 out of 5 stars Fun,and a good game to start out with
The game is only $15 so if you do buy it, its not like your spending $30 for a game you wont like. I thought this game was really enjoyable, although i have played many games with far superior quality. The games are all pretty interesting and they all have their flaws, but when i learned that these games were invented so long ago, i cut them a little slack.I didnt "grow up" playing these games so its not a walk down memory lane for me, but they are still fun games. This was also the first game i got for gba and personaly i think its a good game to start out on, because the games are simple and easy to follow and the controls are relativly easy. Its especially good for kids who are not quite ready for hard and in-depth games yet.i also like the fact that its not just one classic game but 5.Pacman is my favorite game, but its a little hard to beat. There are two things that really get on my nerves about this game, one-you cant save any high scores,so there is absolutely nothing to beat in this game, and two-in galaga the screen is only half the size of the gameboy screen, they could have put the scores at the top and had the screen be double the size that it is.but overall this game is very fun when you just want a little something to keep you entertained.

5-0 out of 5 stars Nameco Museum
I bought this game thinking it was a cheap game. When i played it it brought memories of the arcade up-rites that they had at the Pavilion in Myrtle Beach in my younger days. The Ms Pac-Man was the best and Dig Dug was also. The other 3 games i plade on the arcades and on the artari 2600. This is quiet a bit of nastalgia. Hours of FUN and ENJOYMENY at a very reasonable price. Check out the other games that i have rated Donkey Kong Country 2 , Legend of Zelda. ALL ARE GOOD....ENJOY

4-0 out of 5 stars Great Game
MIIB IS A GREAT GAME. IT'S A GOOD BUY FOR THE MONEY. BUT IT TAKES TO LONG TO LOAD UP.

4-0 out of 5 stars A good game, but not the best.
This is the Men in Black reproduction for the Gamecube. It's come out a little late, but if you don't have the playstation2version, get this instead. It has slightly better graphics, a few added power-ups and rooms, and better sound effects.

Gameplay: 8/10 Good gameplay; aiming doesn't mess you up, not too montonous, and replay value is o.k.

Storyline: 10/10 The storyline is very goood, with several surprises and a great ending .

Graphics: 8/10 The graphics are better than average; finer than the playstation version, and very smooth, and detailed; less polygonal shapes, and good detailing. However, although good, this is not the best out there.

Controls: 9/10 The controls are good, easy to get used to at first, but later on you find that speed reflexes might have been better

Overall: 35/40 giving you an average of about 8.5/10. It's a good game, but not the best out there. Even so, it is very good, and I would advise you to buy it.

4-0 out of 5 stars Shooter fans will love this!
First of all, this game is great. If you liked the movies, you will have a blast relating to the humor and storlyine conections, as well as aliens from MIB II. It really feels like a 3D Contra game, however, which is great. A wide selection of guns, exciting levels, and awesome control. The difficulty is on the challenging side, but it is not as difficult as the average Contra game. Aiming is fairly easy, but it fits the game perfectly. Yes, this is the same game that is on PS2, and not much hs changed. Graphics are a litle more detailed, the framerate is smoother, and levels have an extra room or power-up here and there. However, it is not worth buying again if you own it on PS2. Action gamers will love it, as this is a pure adrenaline rush. Slightly better than the PS2 version. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars WARNING- beautiful game, but hard
It is a wonderfully visual game, with a knock-out setup and great (when you can hear it) dialogue. But all the reviewers who claim the game is low frustration and easy... wrong! I adore this game, but I have never sworn at or threatened a game so much as this one. I was stuck on one fight for a month. I wish I was kidding. The big fights rely on timing and damn good luck, because sometimes you can make it the first time, and sometimes your sidekick dies fast and you will repeat the same fight infinitely. Too bad you can't skip ahead. Puzzles take time, but I only needed help with one. Seriously, the only flaw with this game is the fights.

3-0 out of 5 stars its pretty
its pretty..u can walk on walls...thats about it...but why...why.....its a game made by the french set in persia with british voice actors..in america....okkkeday.....

and the gameplay is boring...ill go on record saying jumping on poles is not entertaing...the fighting is ok, and it was a good choice of not making it a button masher...u hold the block button for awhile and walk around till u find a opening, then u attack...its good fighting..and its good theres not too much of it cuz thatd get really annoying if it was one of those "kill baddies in one room, go next room, repeat" type of game with that fighting style

3-0 out of 5 stars Simply Average
I read the overwhelming amount of glowing reviews for this game, both by Amazon members, and professional reviewers, so I thought that it would be a safe buy, a guaranteed great time. While I wasn't totally disappointed, the game failed very much to live up to the hype.

First off, the good points: the graphics are smooth and well done. The environments are detailed, and often very beautiful. The character of the Prince is a great protagonist, fun, thoughtful, and his narration of the game was a great inclusion that kept you connected to him. The ability to manipulate time via the dagger is a unique and useful ability that I enjoyed using.

Now, for what I consider the less-than-good points: While the Prince's acrobatic moves are impressive to see, and useful, you never have the ablity to learn any new ones; this creates a certain repetitiveness throughout the game's puzzles. The sound quality was horrid, and even after adjusting volume levels in the options menu, Farah and the Prince's voices were nearly impossible to hear half the time. There isn't much strategy involved in the battle scenes. As long as you guard one moment, and mash the square button the next, you're pretty much assured a victory. The camera angles were positively atrocious about 70% of the time, which made already difficult puzzles highly frustrating. The end battle was disappointingly easy, and there is virtually no replay value. No secrets to be unlocked, new skills or movies to enjoy. The only special feature besides being able to watch the credits scroll is unlocking the original Prince of Persia, a horrid game that would have best been left buried in a landfill somewhere.

Overall, the game was enjoyable enough, but, having defeated it in 10 hours, and there being no real replay value, I feel as if I wasted my money. I would definitely recommend this as a rental; it could easily be finished over the course of a weekend. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Meh...
Well well well. What can I say about Suikoden IV? First thing's first, I guess. This game was really quite good, yet... it was somehow lacking.

The Suikodens have always been some of the least known about yet hardest to find games. They were always great quality. Not to say that this one isn't, it's just bad compared to the others. It does have its good sides and its bad sides. Here's a nice little list for you.

The Good:
1. The graphics were stunning
2. VOICES FOR SUIKODEN! FINALLY!
3. Colorful characters from every spectrum
4. The voices fit the characters well and weren't annoying
5. The opening song, La Mer, was awesome
6. No more paired fighting, a la Suikoden III

The Bad:
1. The game was far too short
2. The storyline was confusing and it didn't end very well
3. Other than La Mer none of the music really stuck out to me
4. Though the Stars of Destiny were colorful, some of them didn't possess much personality so they weren't very memorable
5. The map was small, but the ship was slow
6. The duel system and ship battles were far too easy
7. The ship controls were very jerky

The Stuff That Can Be Either Depending On Your Preferances:
1. The main character didn't talk
2. Though there were several mini-games, the game was very linear
3. There were very few characters from the previous games
4. One of the few who did return was the seductive Jeane
5. Only four (4) people per party, but you can have up to three parties when on the deck of your ship
6. No default name for the hero other than Hero 4

Overall, this game had a good story, no matter how confusing it may have been. I liked this game because the gameplay reminded me a lot of a very watered down version of Skies of Arcadia. I do recommend this game if you don't have much time and want to play an RPG all the way through. Happy sailing!

4-0 out of 5 stars Suikoden IV - Good and Bad
To begin, I would call Suikoden IV a slight disappointment. However, that is only because of the enormously high standards that the series has set for itself, and when compared to other RPG's, Suikoden IV is an excellent game.

Moving away from the Trinity Site System of Suikoden III, the game again focuses on a single hero who becomes the possessor of a True Rune, in this case the Rune of Punishment. This time the setting is 150 years before the events of the first Suikoden, and the location is the "Island Nations," south of the Toran Republic and previously unvisited in the Suikoden series. General Suikoden rules apply, and the hero helps to gather and lead an army against a large opposition, united under the power of his True Rune.

Now, to look where the gameplay goes wrong, let's start with the renovated battle system. The number of usable characters in battle has been reduced from six to four, giving the player even less versatility when it comes to selecting his or her party out of dozens of recruitable characters. From what I understand in interviews, the battle system was changed in order to make it quicker, although in all honesty the first three Suikodens had some of the most fluent battle I have ever played, so I never really understood that decision. Spell animations have gone from the best I have ever seen in Suikoden III to very short and [in a word] unspectacular in Suikoden IV. One on one duels and major military battles remain, only this time the military fights are with ships (some have drawn comparisons to Skies of Arcadia in this regard). The duels and the major battles are both disappointingly easy, almost to the point where they become an obstruction to the plot rather than an enhancement. The random battle encounter rate, especially when at sea, can become quite frustrating at times.

Plotwise, the story was mediocre in my opinion, although that is something that is subjective. The most disappointing aspect of the game was how short it was, and how few towns were in it. For such a long wait, I was truly expecting a more populated world map with more than ten places to visit, and a lot more hours of gameplay (my first play through I ended up with a headquarters at like four hours in). From a grander perspective, the story does not really help to answer any of the many questions Suikoden fans have amassed over the first three games, although it does add its share to our lists.

Overall the game is enjoyable, and it certainly kept me playing through. But to be honest, this game just doesn't hold up to the first three Suikodens very well. Too many changes with the battle system and gameplay, combined with a story set 150 years in the past with practically no returning characters have left this game almost not feeling like a Suikoden. I would recommend this game, probably more to people who haven't played the other Suikodens more than I would to longtime fans of the series.

3-0 out of 5 stars Very Disappointing
I had forgotten almost completely about the Suikoden series lately.Recently I've given up playing a lot of RPGs.I just don't have the time or drive to play an MMORPG.How anyone could spend hours and hours and hours to live a fake life is beyond me... I mean a long RPG is one thing but a timesuck has to have it's limits.Anyway...Suikoden IV was a pleasant surprise. It's been so long since the last installment and I hadn't followed any of it's development. The only part that stuck out in my memory was the game's setting on the ocean.

Playing Suikoden IV made me go and try to find any of the other titles.Suikoden I and III can be found if you put in some effort. If you want Suikoden II be prepared to spend big bucks at an auction.Going through Suikoden IV brought back good memories but the game ended so fast.

Usually Suikoden is a perfectionists dream. You have so many things to run. You've got dozens of fighters to equip/levelup/armor/etc.There are minigames/fullscale battles/duels to shake things up.That part of the game remained intact in IV.But you can tell there's something missing. There are almost no references to any countries in the Suikoden mythology except for Scarlet Moon and a little lip service to Harmonia.Oh, and you've got Jeane...big whoop. The main character is unimaginably bland with that lame bowl cut. With so many characters you can't expect many of them to be interesting, but so very few of them are worth bringing to your group. One of the few interesting characters disappears near the start and shows up a couple more times with no real consequences and just doesn't matter anymore at the end.

The graphics are just way too dreary. The sea is just mindnumbingly dull. It's nothing like the ocean in Wind Waker. There's very little to explore with almost no hidden secrets.Islands just pop out of nowhere once you're right in front of them.Nothing like how cool it was in Wind Waker when you could journey toward a mysterious far away island/castle.Character design is interesting in that they finally remove some of the anime influence (but there's a catgirl ugh), but it's still kind of dull.

The voice acting added nothing to the game. Some are decent and none make you want to stab yourself in the ear.But it's just pointless, it doesn't make the game any better. And the strategist's whole "Bleargh I'm drunk ungghhh I'm so dark and scarred" routine gets old.But at least it maintains Suikoden's good idea of having some adult characters instead of them all being teen-agers.

The story is the biggest disappointment.Troy is supposed to be a major character but turns out to be nothing but a footnote. They don't tie up ONE loose end about the main enemy's back story (if it's in Suikoden V I'll go ballistic). And the 'bonus' you get for collecting all 108 characters is super lame.Basically it's mostly that a "Big Meanieland" wants to take over rag-tag group of towns which need some uniting.Of course in Japanese tradition this can only be accomplished by a femmy preteen.Final bosses have never been the strong suit of this series but I never understood what the final boss had to do with ANYTHING.

I wasn't going to be so hard on Suikoden IV but after starting to play Suikoden III again you can see all the good things that were lost.No more optional bosses to get money/treasure (getting money in this game is ridiculously hard). No more skill system (the characters are just too alike in abilities).Battles are too simple and too frequent and lack strategy of any sort.A balance of III and IV would be nice.

Lots of people thought Konami dropped the ball with Suikoden III, but after playing it again I found it very easy to go back to.Suikoden IV just feels too much like 'work' even though there is less micromanaging to do.Konami better try harder next time around. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Tactical RPGs
First off i have to say that i love tactical RPGs and other then Disgaea Hour of Darkness and Final Fantasy Tactics this collection is as good as it gets. It surprises me a little that it has taken this long for a U.S. release and after playing Growlanser i'm hoping that sonner or latter the first game will make it stateside as well. (Maybe for the PSP? - God knows it needs some real RPGs)

While the game certainly isn't graphically impressive (if you're reading this you're probably a real gamer anyway so you won't care) everything else about this collection has awesome depth despite being rather simplistic structurally compared to games such as Disgaea and Phantom Brave.

As soon as i found out that this collection was developed by Working Designs and Atlus (the two most underrated developers in the gaming world) i had to buy it and if you're even remotely interested in tactical RPGs do yourself a favor and buy it. You won't be dissapointed.

Great combat, great story, great value.

5-0 out of 5 stars Growlanser is one of the best of 2004.
If you are in to strategy rpgs, you probably grew up loving Shining Force, or Final fantasy tactics- or if you are new you began with the Nippon Ichi games (Disgaea, La Pucelle, Phantom Brave).I have seen all of these, and I haven't been as attached as when I played Growlanser.Growlanser Generations consists of two games, Growlanser II and III.The games are just fun.The stories are both really good, the battles are fun to play, and the equipping gems (abilities) function is really cool.My room mates and I are currently playing, and all three of us have advanced the story in so many different ways. There are multiple endings, and there are so many ways to branch off the story. At the beginning of the game, you will be asked a series of questions, and your answers determine the main character's stats and even which skills he will learn. And this continues throughout the game, so you can really play it however you want!
There is only one horrible thing about the game, and fortunately it is only initial. The voice acting will make you want to turn it off, but within the first hour, it will grow on you.I PROMISE!The only person you will really hate after awhile will be the voice of a snot nosed kid named Hans- but you will be able to excuse his lame "one liners" every time he beats an enemy because he kicks a lot of butt as a fighter.
I started out talking about strategy rpgs, but if you don't like strategy rpgs, don't disregard this title. It's unlike any strategy rpg I have ever played. It's a little hard to desribe, but all the battles are in real time- you give orders. You can tell your main character to fight, and he will go over and beat on a dude until they die, but if you want to tell him to stop, you can interupt his action, and tell him to beat on another dude or heal or whatever.Once your orders are given you can just sit back and watch what happens.Rather than "taking turns" like in most strategy rpgs everything in Growlanser happens at once. While your characters are walking around doing what you told them to do, so are the enemies.
There are random battles for leveling up purposes, and these are far shorter than story battles. The games are little bit on the short side, Growlanser II is about 20 hours long, while the third one is around 30.Since they are short, the replay value is high with all the different endings and stories.Growlanser Generations really surprised me, and has easily become one of my favorites. We are lucky that Working Designs and Atlus brought these titles to America, and I am hoping that Growlanser IV will also come here.

4-0 out of 5 stars At last, an old school rpg!
This is the latest game released by Working Designs. As usual, we have been waiting too long because they delayed, delayed and delayed again. But here it is, and because you waited for so long, you get 2 games for a very low price. This package includes Growlanser 2:The Sense Of Justice(1999) and Growlanser 3: The Dual Darkness (2002). Both games are lasting about 40 hours each, with a total of nearly 10 hours of voice acting. The voice acting is very good, no lame performances! For those of you who are tired of high-tech rpgs like Final Fantasy games, random dungeons and 3-d stuff, then this game is for you! This is an old school rpg for hardcore fans. Caracters are Sailor-Moonish like, every one of the major caracters have their own voice. The game plays close to Final Fantasy Tactics, but better in my opinion. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars This game is great!
This game is much better than the first Ratchet and Clank. I think you should buy this game. The story line is great, and watch the videos most of them are funny. This is one of the best games I have. The graphics are great. Also, it has cool weapons and armor. If you beat the game you unlock first person mode, shortcuts, The random stuff menu, and more movies.

4-0 out of 5 stars Fun yet challenging
Unlike many game sequels, this one has improved. The only thing that really hasn't changed are the graphics. In this edition, you get a ton of new weapons and you can upgrade them at certain vendors. You even get to upgrade your ship by adding on shields, guns and other mods. What makes this game fun is that there are several mini games within the main game.
The one thing I don't like about this game is that you can't move forward onto different planets unless you complete all tasks on previous planets. For example, you must win a Hoverboard race before you're given a map for the next planet.I think this will be frustrating to many gamers and may cause some to pass on the game entirely. It was frustrating to me because this wasn't a requirement in the previous game.
Overall, I'd recommend picking up this game. It's a fun, relaxed game that you don't need to take seriously.

5-0 out of 5 stars The Best Game I Have for PS2
Ratchet and Clank: Going Commando is a great game. The guns are really cool, and they get cooler as you upgrade them. It has alot of RPG in it as you can choose which mission to complete first or which planet to visit first, ect. There are some puzzles through out the game but most all of them are easy, as it is not the type of game where you get stuck on one puzzle for days. It has a ton of action, and the controls are very good. The only part I can complain about is how on some planets the enemies are not diverse at all and some saving problems I experienced. Other than that, it is a great game. I would recommend this game to anyone who likes action games. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Humiliation was never so much fun!
Got the game, connected the microphone, and was having a blast in less than 3 minutes. You pick a complex or simple song, choose plain karaoke, or get graded by the crowd or your friends.Connect to Xbox Live for more songs.Sure it'll cost you, but isn't singing "Jessie's Girl" to an adoring crowd worth it?

There is no mystery to this game, just flat out karaoke fun.The "bundle" part of Karaoke Revolution Bundle is the microphone that plugs into your joystick (just like an xbox live headset).

5-0 out of 5 stars Awesome!!! Can't Wait for the next one!!
This is an awesome game!!! I love that you have to actually have some talent in order to play. I love how the microphone can pick up what note you are singing. (Isn't technology crazy?!?!) This game is fun for the person/people playing and for anybody who might be just watching. The characters get pretty animated and they glow when you sing really well. (It's pretty challenging to try to get your character to glow during the entire song! But trust me, it can be done!) The crowd watching your character also waves their arms and dances if you are doing a good job. If not, then the crowd leaves and your character gets pretty depressed. I hope that Konami comes out with more for XBOX!!!

Note: there is one downside to this game. You find yourself singing the same songs over and over again. (60 songs really isn't that many to choose from)

4-0 out of 5 stars Needs more songs, but you can download if online w/XBOX Live
This game took me off guard. I expected just a simple little Karaoke game with lyrics on the screen and nothing more. I never played the ones on the PS2 and really never wanted to, but when it came out for XBOX, I figured, what the heck, I enjoy singing so I'll give it a shot. In 4 words, "what a party game!" First off, Konami did a wonderful job of replicating the actual music from the original artists. The music is nearly cloned perfectly. People with home theaters will jam to this with the 5.1 Digital. The way the crowd reacts to you really gets your adrenaline flowin, if you sing bad, you're character will get booed off stage, heck, you do bad enough, the music stops--- if you do well, they will go nuts for you. It really makes you feel like you're at a serious karaoke jam. But not only do you just sing, you're also being judged! The game judges you by tone of voice and timing. It's very picky at times and when you don't know the words by heart, prepare to have a mean crowd by your side.

The different venues like county fairs, outdoor stadiums, party palaces and local bars gives the game a very realistic feel. The characters available are comical to watch on-screen and they move their mouth with yours, downright funny. The males will get a kick out of choosing the "Britney Look Alike Girl" and doing Friends in Low Places.

Up front, the music selection is a mixed bag and I won't judge if it's good or bad because different people prefer different things. It mostly included a little country, some 80's, 90's and some recent stuff. I know it's hard to make everyone happy, but the thing to do is offer more music. And that is where XBOX Live comes in. With an XBOX Live subscription (which is already $49.99 a year) you can connect online to get new songs. Of course there is no mention of charging us in the instruction booklet, but not to my surprise, there is a $4.99 fee for each group of songs. Each group of $4.99 contains 5 songs. I'm sorry, $4.99 is a rip off, especially when we may only want it for 1 or 2 of the selections. And we're already paying Microsoft to go online for our yearly subscription. Sigh. More money out the door...

And considering we spent $59.99 for the game itself, Konami seems a bit greedy. I would have liked it more if you could buy in singles for .99cents. Seems more logical. At this time "Jan 05" the downloads are pretty weak, only about 6 groups availalbe and the stuff they do have is pretty skimpy. A few 80's songs, Jessie's Girl, more Michael Jackson, some Britney Spears, Madonna, etc. Good stuff, but we need a wider variety. Hopefully over time they will get that price down and get more for us.

As a whole, I still loved this game, I'm a karaoke fan and love to jam out, other fans will love it to. As with me, some music you're simply never going to sing, or want to. The problem, some of the modes force you to sing what it chooses to continue on to earn new characters and venues. It's annoying and if it was up to me to market this game, I would make different genres of music to sell seperately instead of putting a mix of music on one game. How about an all 70's, all 80's, all 90's and "Modern" releases so people dont' get stuck with songs they'll never use. But as a whole,it's good fun and I'm lovin' the songs I do like, and the ability to download new songs is nice, but $4.99 for 5 songs is greedy and they should let you choose them individually. Duh Konami? ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars FUN GAMING!
Much has already been said about this game package.I have played FF VII, on the playstation, and never finished it. So much for that. I did not go beyond that FF number. There is such a thing as having TOO MUCH to do in a game. I hated that game and would NEVER replay it.Although FF I & II does not have breath-taking graphics nor story line it is RPG playing at it's purest. AND I am a dedicated RPGer.This game is FUN. Not frustrating nor aggravating! One of the main reasons adults began video game playing was for the FUN! When the industry saw adults as a potential for this market the fun stopped. They began making games like every day life! THE VERY THING adults wanted to take a break from. I know because I was at the forefront of the craze! I saw adults offering up to $100 for the old-school games. This was not for COLLECTION purposes. It was because they REALLY liked a game!WHAT, please tell me, do bobbing breasts have to do with game playing other than it satisfies some hormone-infested individual.Koodos to Nintendo for keeping FUN in game playing!!FF I and II are games that are ENJOYABLE! So glad they are now part of the portable realm.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent classics reborn.
This is the beginning of rpg heaven and the games that started the hugely popular rpg trend.

Both games are 'tame' by todays standards but the fun factor is still beyond measure. Final Fantasy 1 and 2 both offer tons of great gameplay and will make you pass hours without even thinking.

Though it seems that both games have gotten dramatically easier...
Oh well, there are still things we can do to make things harder, like a solo white mage. :)

5-0 out of 5 stars Actually...
(...)

FF2 as Americans know it as actually FF4 (its in finaly fantasy chronicles). It tells the story of Cecil. It also has the twin mages, Kain the dragoon, Golbez etc.

the FF2 in this is the realy FF2, the on released in Japan. It's first appearence in the US was in Final Fantasy Origins, which is similar to this, but does not have the extra dungeons

I hope that clears up the confusion ... Read more

This game is the best ever! New outfits, furniture, unlock pets, and reputation. Start a good relationship, VISIT MANY PLACES, your face will appear on posters! Black Eyed Peas are in the city! You should rent it first, but I was hooked! I then knew I HAD to buy it!

3-0 out of 5 stars Really Disappointed
I am a big fan of the Sims; however I do not like this game it's fun but to easy. it's to much cartoon and weired for me. The sims bustin out was more realistic to me.The music in the game is kinda good. There is no building houses, and there is really not a whole lot of good furniture to choose from. The apartments are ghetto looking. This might be a good game for kids & teen agers, but not for the adults, I will stick with the original sims.

1-0 out of 5 stars The Worst Game Ever!!!!!!!!
This game was terrible because it does not have a lot of things to do.Another reason I didn't like this game was because it is not exciting at all.

1-0 out of 5 stars Unhappy

I bought this game for my eight and five year old, after we saw the movie. I wish that I would have waited to read some reviews on the game before we purchased it.It was too hard for my boys to play. They loved the movie, and they love robots. However, they both got bored very quickly with this game.My kid's friends also don't seem to play this one very long either. It was not worth our money. My boys have enjoyed the wratchet and clank games a lot.My older son really likes the spongebob games. I would try those and skip this one!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

4-0 out of 5 stars Really fun but still rent it to see if you like it.

5-0 out of 5 stars A great game
This game is probably the best college football game you can buy.Do not waste your money or your time on other games. If you love college football then you want this game.It has been mentioned that the game freezes and yes that is true, but you can always simulate those games if you are playing the dynasty mode (just keep simulating to get the result you want, if not restart and simulate again). This game allows you to pick your favorite team and have their theme song play on the main screen. The players in the dynasty mode do get into trouble often, but there is along with everything else a way to prevent that, put more money into discipline and scout your players better (look at discipline rating of each player).
This game overall is a really really good football game.Plus its made by EA Sports the best sports game maker out there. This game is defently worth the money if you love college football!

5-0 out of 5 stars A mizzou tigers fan
I Love this game it alaways u to play as Any team In the nation including DivisionAA schools. This year you can also inport players to madden. Buy this And Madden and you will have agreat time playing your PS2

1-0 out of 5 stars OK Game Plan... Poor Execution in Dynasty Mode
I enjoyed this game for a while playing single games, but once I turned to dynasty mode I started to notice problems.

The first thing I notcied was that the statistics were all wrong. The most noticable was a game where I scored every drive, but the red zone statistics kept going down. This doesn't matter so much with single games, but with a full season with a new team, you're fighting for respect.

Case in point, midway through the season, I was undefeated, had defeated two #1 teams, but I wasn't even in the top 25 in the coaches' poll.

The most frustrating thing, however, is when the game freezes up.Sometimes, it just does that randomly--you get over the frustration of losing out on any records you've broken, you play the game over, and you're fine. But during both dynasties, it got to a point in the second season where the console always froze no matter how many times I replayed it, and it just got way too frustrating to be enjoyable anymore.I've never had this problem with any other game, so I'm sure it's the game and not the console. ... 1-0 out of 5 stars ....how aobut not
well, i love turn based strategy games.iv played almost all of the ones availible on GBA.id have to say that if you're contemplating buying this one, u should scroll to the top of the page and buy Fire Emblem instead.shining force is just.....pathetic would have to be the word for it.

so i started the game out. first thing that happened was the little plot backgroud scene.then i learned that the main character had washed up on shore unconcious....

okay now thats just a no-no.if hte cahracter washes up on shore unconcious, show it!then the heroine finds him and all that fun stuff.well none of that happneed.instead you wondered aroudn and talked to people.after 5 minutes of wondering i left down and fought my first battle.

how about not. the battles were boring, the graphics were pathetic, and the system was exactly the same as any other game.

my main problems with this game r:
-promotion weakens your characters.ill type that again cause its pretty hard to believe.promotion weakens your characters.its just....ridiculous.in ANY OTHER GAME that you will ever play with a promotion system, your characters get stronger.well not in thsi one.
-the battle system is boring and tedious
-the battles require very little strategy, see above point
-the graphics are....nauseating would b a very kind way to describe them.i never knew that graphics could be THIS bad
-the plot is very illogical.i am all for evil dragons taking over the world, they make excellent final bosses.but robots in a fantasy game are jsut a no (although marshall in sword of mana is okay, he actaully has a personality )
-the characters are lifeless

theres notm uch else to say.i discourage you all from buying this game.

5-0 out of 5 stars Easily portable version of a fantastic classic game!
This game is exactly the same as the first Shining Force title for the Sega Genesis. The game itself is a little on the aged side, but part of the reason this one was chosen for the GBA is that it has great gameplay, great control, and is all around really fun. After Shining in the Darkness, Shining Force is the game that really took the Shining Series in a new great direction (other than Shining the Holy Ark and Shining Wisdom) of epic battles across a vast world with armies of monsters. The cast of characters you control is more imaginative than even Final Fantasy ever has been, as is the variety of maps, items, and magic.Warriors, Priests, Wizards, Knights, Clerics, Monks, Dragons, Archers, Wolfmen, Robots, Mages, Sorcerors, Paladins, Samurai, Ninjas, Chipmunks and more are all under your control as you chose where, when and how to fight your enemy, using the terrain to your advantage (hopefully...)The control scheme is very simple, with menus to select all the actions similar to Final Fantasy or Phantasy Star, which is as effective today for strategy games as it was twenty years ago. While not as long as the epic Shining Force II, Shining Force is actually quite a long game concidering how long the average Genesis game was.Not only that, but Shining Force has a deep storyline that (while it is only part of the Shining Series story--go to shiningforcecentral.com for more) is surprisingly engaging for adults and children alike.Shining Force was a must have for any Sega fan or any RPG fan, and this title is just as much a must have for anyone with a GBA.One thing that is really great is that you don't really expect too much from a GBA because its just not as powerful as a console videogame system, so this game doesn't come across as dated as it is.Now all we have to do is sit back and hope that Sega will release Shining in the Darkness, Shining Force II, and Shining Force Gaiden on the GBA too.

5-0 out of 5 stars A Near Perfect Remake
Shining Force: Resurrection of the Dark Dragon is a nearly perfect remake of one of the original console Strategy RPG games. The original featured a colorful cast of characters, an enjoyable enough story -- bare bones, but functional -- and the essentials of SRPG gameplay: take your force of heroes (including Elven archers, magicians, Dwarven warriors, and Centaur knights) and maneuver them around on a grid, defeating enemies to collect experience points and level up.

The original never strived for a huge amount of depth in its gameplay; there was never much min-maxing to be found, never a need to worry about weather or birthdays, and only the most important character statistics (such as strength, defense, and so on). ROTDD maintains that simplistic charm. Its strength is not in pushing one's tactical brainpower to the very limits, or forcing one to micromanage a dozen different factors for every character. Rather, the game just wants you to enjoy the now tried-and-true gameplay it perfected over ten years ago.

Everything that made the original great is still here, only made better. ROTDD features graphics and music which are highly reminiscent of the original, yet push the limits of the GBA system to the maximum. The story has been enhanced with a significant amount of new dialogue and new characters. The game's returning characters come equipped with a good deal more depth -- talk to them in Headquarters, and you can slowly learn about their backstories.

If you've never tried a Strategy RPG before, this is the one to get. The magic, weapon, item, and level-up systems are nearly identical to those found in traditional roleplaying games. Shining Force doesn't have the aggressive difficulty level of a Fire Emblem, nor the heavy micromanaging element of Final Fantasy Tactics, making it ideal for someone new to the genre.

The original was a classic, and ROTDD proves that a classic can be redone successfully. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars The best x-men game.
I have to say that this is a fun game .The game is an action rpg,so you level your characters up and they have tons of diferent moves.

5-0 out of 5 stars The Best X-Men Game Ever!
I've read the X-Men comic books religiously since I was a wee Irish Child.I will say that although Banshee is not in the game, very many X-Men are mentioned and Very Many X-Men are playable in the game. The story is very consistent with the comics, and everything said in character conversations were again exremely consistent with how they behave in the Comics. The best X-Men game ever that puts together the incredible story as well as character complexities, as well as the spirit of teamwork and diversity that is the X-MEN!!!Aye laddy!

5-0 out of 5 stars XtremelyXtraXcellent!!!
X-men Legends opens up an exiting, skill-testing, and beautifully designed window to the X-men world. Every character has their own type of power from Wolfie's claws to Jean Grey's mental power. Since a character has his or her own category of power,(Mental, Weapon, Strength, ect.), they also have unique abilities to go along with as well. I love how some of the characters can fly amd the fact that you can acually play as Proffesor Xavier in some levels! After playing it for a while you really feel like you are part of the game. You can save at different spots throughout the level you are playing. These spots are marked by a big blue X. You can also revive players that have fallen. Charaters level up during gameplay by fighting well and defeating enemys. I got to see another side of my favorite super-heroes that I had never seen before. I hope the same for you. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars funniest game I every played
I can't believe someone said this game was boring and had bad graphics. I think they are confusing it with another sponge bob game. the very 1st spongebob game for playstation (back in 2001) did have really bad graphics and was very simple, my 5 yr old could complete the game, and I was able to finish the whole game in One night.

But the new one 'Battle for Bikini Bottom' is Nothing like the 1st one, the graphic look like your watching the actual spongebob cartoon in 3-D. And you never get bored with this game each stage has so much to do!!! Like smashing enough tikki's, trading flowers with Mr. Krab's for a golden spatula, climbing hard to reach places to find extra underwear, fitting robots, bowling, bubble smashing, jellyfishing, bungee jumping and more. Best of all you really feel like your in bikini bottom!! My son thought smashing up squirdward's house and hearing squidward tell spongebob to get out, was a hoot. I was Never bored with this game, I really hated having to turn it off to go to bed because it was so much fun play and it took me 2 months to complete the whole game because there is so much to do.

If you like the cartoon you'll love the game

3-0 out of 5 stars Spongebob Boringpants
Wow!I haven't seen any thing this boring since, well, ever.Just like Spongebob, this game is full of holes. The moves are boring (except for sandy).I mean, come on, how can you kill something with a jellyfish net?The graphics are average, the story line is trash, and the bosses are very unoringinal.Hmm,I wonder what character could look like a robotic squirrel?Basically,it's a mediocre game.Little kids will love it,but older gamers will definitely hate it.

5-0 out of 5 stars battle for bikkini bottem
This game is very fun! You get to smash tikis, and break computers. You also meet robots. It's not very educational, but it doesn't break. My little brother (he's 6) plays for hours and hours. The game is a five-star game! ... Read more

This was an okay game. I beat in about 4 days. The end was the hardest for me. If you have alot of time get this game

4-0 out of 5 stars Too Hard
I like this game but it's really hard. Also, the lights are too dim. I can hardly see where I'm going! But, if you like challenge and eat carrots (for night vision) you just might like it.

4-0 out of 5 stars To the last reviewer
Haven't you read at the top? It says "Classic NES SERIS"! Please think before writing.

3-0 out of 5 stars This is just wierd?
Okay so since I heard from other reviews on this game saying that this one is missing a level here is something you may have not heard. In DK64 you can actually play the Arcade Version of the whole Game on the N64! Plus even when you play the NES Version what does it mean with 1+2 Player A or B? Nintendo Should've just added the Pie Level for the NES Version. I mean what the **** is Nintendo Thinking?

1-0 out of 5 stars If you want to play NES games, use an NES.
This game is not bad. The E-reader version was much more affordable, though.
20 dollars? For 3 one-screen levels? I didn't think so.
If you still want this game, get the old black-and-white game Donkey Kong for the original Game Boy. It has all the levels from this, plus about 100 more. Fun. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Er, sorry to be the "dissenter" here...
...but I don't like this game at all. I'm a big Zelda fan and loved all the GBC, N64, GBA and GameCube games, but because of my age, I had never played the "classic" Zelda games. So I picked this up, aiming to be a full-blown Zelda aficionado.

Yet within a few minutes of play, I realized that the game was far too primitive for someone reared in the era of Link's Awakening DX and Ocarina of Time. There are no NPCs to talk to, no exploration to be done, none of anything that I had come to expect from the series. I am well aware that I was probably expecting too much, but whether that's true or not, I was disappointed.

Although I didn't find anything to enjoy in this game, I'm not saying that it's bad. I'm sure that it was a classic of its era, and those who grew up with NES games will probably fall in love with it all over again. But from the perspective of someone who relies only on what she has read and heard for info on this bygone time, it simply seems like a bland, watered-down hack 'n slasher.

5-0 out of 5 stars A classic game now portable
The Legend of Zelda is one of my favorite NES games and now you can play it anywhere on the GBA. You can tell that this game is good because it is still alot of fun after all these years. I was fortunate to find this on sale the week it came out so even despite that, the price tag overall seems fair for such a great game although I don't think some of the other classic NES games are worth that price. Overall, if your a Zelda fan who wants to remember a great game or even if you've never played this before, you owe it to yourself to give this a try.

5-0 out of 5 stars The original is back!
The Legend of Zelda began as a humble NES game that was first released in the '80s that single-handlely jump started a whole new genre of video games-the adventure games-a unique combination of the action and RPG genres! While the Zelda franchise has evolved over the years, adding more and more interesting characters, complex storylines, and improved graphics, none of those games (not even the Ocarina of Time) can compare with the kind of quality charm the original had.I guess the old saying's true, "The original is always the best!" and the same can be applied to Zelda. While thestoryline and gameplay may be simplistic compared to the Zelda games of today, and while the graphics may be "outdated", the original Zelda continues to remain as challenging and fun as ever. The Zelda games of today often give the players clues as to which direction you're supposed to head in next after completing a certain part of the game, but the original Zelda didn't offer any clues whatsoever.

You had to rely on either your raw instinct or a strategy guide to figure out what to do next. The dungeons weren't easy to beat, either. You had to wonder around complex mazes while battling against all sorts of strange creatures before you finally made it to the boss.A tradition that has always been handed down since the original was that you could find a special item in each dungeon that could be used to help defeat the boss, but unlike the Zelda games of today, there weren't any clues as to where that special item was located at, so you had to find it on your own.And an interesting fact is that if you register your file name as "Zelda", it'll unlock an even harder version of the game to play.I've always wished that Nintendo would re-release the original Zelda because my NES is broken now and I can no longer play it, so I was very happy to learn that this game was being re-released on the GBA!And not only is this re-release a faithful import of the original Zelda, but because it's on the GBA now, you can play it where ever you're at!Now I'll finally get to relive the glory days of the original Zelda and newbie fans can experience the original for the first time, too!So, if you're an old time Zelda fan like me and loved the original, I highly recommend buying this GBA re-release of it because it's perfect!Or if you're new to the Zelda franchise and have never played the original before, I highly recommend picking it up, too!Don't let the "simplisticy" of the gameplay or the "outdated" graphics fool you! This is the most unforgettable Zelda game of all time and the best video game ever, and it should not be passed up! ... 3-0 out of 5 stars Good tetris, Bad backgrounds
I just bought this Tetris game.I grew up with the black and white computer game "Nyet", before it was even called Tetris, so I love the Tetris game. The Tetris game itself was fine.

However, the backgrounds were horrible - mostly dark, with animated animals and an annoying flying cube with eyes getting in the way.The distractions might be good for building my concentration, but the backgrounds were so darkly colourful that I had trouble seeing the blocks properly. So they were a) cheesy, b) distorted the outline of the tetris blocks, and c) walked/swam/flew around a lot, so that it made the tetris blocks even harder to see.

I bought this game despite the mostly negative reviews because there wasn't another tetris gameboy advance game at the stores around my place. So it's enough to satisfy my Tetris fix, but I really wish it were better. That is, simpler, like white blocks on a black background, so I could concentrate on the game more than the bad graphics

3-0 out of 5 stars Great game, new ideas...
This newest breed of Tetris starts out like any other. You have the option to play the classic Tetris game that everyone, including Homer Simpson, has played. But, there are also 5 new play modes, included Fusion which is the most unlike classic Tetris. Each of the games offers hours of reply.

This game also includes an outline option to help you see where your piece will land, for newer or less skilled players. As well as being able to see the next four pieces ahead.

Additionally you can swap out one piece by pressing the L or R button, and trade that piece with any piece later in the game... this option is very helpful for storing straight pieces.

Unfortunatly each game only has 15 levels, unlike the nearly limitless play of the origional title.

Another flaw on my system is that most of the backgrounds are so dark you have to be in a very well lit area to play, this is a typical flaw of all gameboy games without an SP, but the purple pieces are almost invisible without some serious overhead lighting.

All in all this game offers a new look at a great game, and offers at least a month of solid replayablity, plus it's great to pick up for a 5 minute distraction.

4-0 out of 5 stars Not bad
This game is okay. The game portion of the display takes up only 1/3 of the screen. The other 2/3 are graphics on the left and right side.At first I thought this would be a problem, since the tiny screen of the GBA gives me headaches at times. But it plays fine, and no problems seeing things. The controls are fairly smooth, but take a little getting used to.The "Ghost" feature is helpful. It shows you where and how a piece will lie, as it is still falling. ...
