4-0 out of 5 stars Fun for parties.
I bought this for my brother-in-law for Christmas, and went out the next week and bought it for myself. The game is a lot of fun (forget "Oni" difficulty though, it's impossible).

The real fun came in though when I picked up the Red Octane accessory drum for 2 player mode.Break this out with friends over and the fun factor goes up %500.In two player mode the two players don't play all the same notes.Player one might play the lead at one point with Player two creating the fill, then it will switch. This way, instead of drumming "over" one another, the two players work together to make the tune sound good. And when it doesn't sound good everyone gets a good laugh and round 2 starts (then 3 then 10.. it's very addicting to play).

I've had friends go out and buy it after a night of playing this game. It's a blast and now that it's down to $50 (It came out at $80), it's a great deal.I just home they make another game to play using the drum controller.A second game with new/more songs would be great!

5-0 out of 5 stars Coolest game ever!
I got this game a few days ago,and I can't stop playing it! This was the best game I have ever gotten! The songs are really cool and if you beat them you can unlock more. Kind of exspensive but it's really worth it.I have a blister on my hand from playing so much! The only bad part is that you have to hit it really hard or it won't work right.

3-0 out of 5 stars Fun, Yes, Exciting, no.. dissapointment but its ok..
Well.. 1st off, bought this as a xmas gift. It looked fun, reviews looked great and all. However.. 1st off.. was there is a lack of songs. I mean wouldve been nice had there been more songs in this.

I mean the style of it is ok as you hit the sides or dead center on left or right to work the game.

Sure its fun to play and all. But when you played too much DDR and knew what to expect from that and hoped this wouldve been similar, youll be upset because its not.

The one thing that IS fun are the mini games. Play this with 2 people and thats where its fun, but the songs itself, not really. It isnt that hard and thats what makes it sad, thought this wouldve tought you how to drum some and not just how to beat the stick. =/

Overall a kid would love it, but if your in the 20s and played enough DDR and still do, you probably will find out you wasted your money. =/ ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Fun party game!
This game is a fun party game. We took our bongos up to a family gathering and had everyone in the house clamoring over them! It was a hoot!

3-0 out of 5 stars Grate game!
Donkey Konga, a mix of music, bongos, and (no other than) Donkey Kong. I only own about 5 Gamecube games because I like PS2 better. This is a pretty fun game. You get a whole bunch of songs and drum to the beat of it. The songs are not very new but.... what the heck! Some song are "Wild Thang", "All the Small things", and some gamecube game's theams. Like Zelda and Pokemon. There are mini gaems you can buy with coins you get from drumming in "Street Mix" But, you only get about (if your good) 200 coins every time. The lowest price for a mini game is 4700 coins. How the heck are you supposed to get that with out playing for hours and hours and hours. Plus, the songs are not by the bands that play them, but by people the nentino probley hired to sing. And it`s all because of one word. Copyright! Dang copyright law. That is what gives this game minus one star. Another star down the drain becaues all the minigame and songs for different modes and the fun sounds( Insteand of the bongs soung, you can do different souds, like dogs) cost WAY TO MUCH! I am hoping Donkey Konga 2 will be better

5-0 out of 5 stars fun all around
Okay, if your out for a game to teach your kids to count, this isnt something you need.now if you are looking for something to entertain your hyperactive cousin while his/her parents are out, then this is a really good idea.at first, it is kinda difficult to play because you feel alittle ridiculous, but i promise that feeling will pass.the only problem i have found with this game is it is EXTREMLY adictive.the rythym fills you and all of your problems melt away.everything seems trivial as you beat on the drums.but your hands do get pretty raw after about 3 hours of clapping and slapping.but like i said, its pretty hard to stop.if you have a hard time getting the kids to do chores now, wait till they start to beat the drums and play along to thier favorite songs.once you play you wont be able to wait for the release of the next game in this series! ... 1-0 out of 5 stars Not fun
This game is really boring. Whats the whole point of playing pinball with pokemon. I mean, you would just hit a ball and the pokemon getting hurt. And then you would be like, "Why the heck did I buy this piece of junk?" So you wasted money. Also, the first pinball was better. It came with a rumble pack and this one doesn't

4-0 out of 5 stars It's pinball!!! With...Pokemon?
Yeah, I'll admit, I don't like Pokemon games, they try to be good rpg's but, I don't like the concept of leveling up, catching, and evolving every single monster in a game. This game takes out some of the rpg elements (keyword here: some) and placed it into a pinball like mini game that could have been used in the other game. So, is this game fun?Yes, it is.

Most people might be led away from this game because of the title (I know I was, until I tried my friend's) but it is a unique pinball game, it really isn't the generic pinball game, but it adds a different type of gameplay, similar to Pinball of the Dead.In this game, you have to catch pokemon, using the bumpers at the top of the screen. Then you hit it a few times and voila, you've caught a pokemon!!What's the point of this, you may ask.The point is, if you collect 3 pokemon, or evolve 1, then a mini-game will come up.These mini-games, are really fun, and hey some of them can be challenging and down-right fun.The only downfall to this game, is well there are only 2 boards based off the themes of the ruby and sapphire games, and i guess both boards have pokemon you can't catch on the other anyway, most of the monsters I saw were newer (Hey, I really only played the original Red and Blue games) and I was confused at what they were.

Pros:
* Great Pinball experience
* Cool Mini-Games
* You can buy stuff that affects the game
* Good Graphics
* You can save in the middle of a game

Cons:
* Only 2 boards to choose
* It has pokemon (this can be a pro if you like pokemon games)
* There are only 4 mini-games (not included the Catch 'em or evolution mode)
* The sound is okay, but just not that great
* You might be confused by what the heck you just caught (ex. Spoink, what kind of name is that?)

2-0 out of 5 stars NOT what I expected
I love pokemon and video games (even though I am a girl) and I was so happy when this came out. I begged 4 it 4 Christmas from my grandpa but when I got it I was dissapointed. See the graphics r sweet and the poke dex (or how ever you spell it) is awsome cause u can see all the pokemon you catch but the game is kinda boring. See all you do is play you get it in the whale or birds' mouth then you can catch pokemon by hitting these glob things on top. Yah it does'nt sound so fun huh? My brother and my dad end up playing it. I guess it's more of a boy game in my opian. But it is pretty cool that it's ruby and sapphire! ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars don't get it
now don't get me wrong, i love this game, it's just that i can't seem to get past the 2nd level. when i'm in the desert, fighting the sand people, and when the music swells, and the screen smalls up, I once sat through that for 20 minutes trying to get past the enormous horde of sand people, but no luck, eventually my health ran out and i went back to the last door. ditto. someone please tell me how long you have to go through that particularly long one.

1-0 out of 5 stars Are we there yet?!
This game should serve as an example of how not to make a platforming adventure game.It manages to get almost everything wrong.

The story is the Star Wars trilogy, and it's told from Luke Skywalker's point of view.Your character throughout the game is Luke, and he has to blast and swordfight his way from the beginning of Episode IV to the end of Episode VI.

Let's start off with the only bit of good news here.Visually, this game is appealing. The backgrounds and characters all look great.Character animations are exceptionally good.Luke runs and jumps around fluently. His moves with the light saber are well animated.Storm troopers, jawas, and other characters all look great. No complaints in the visual department.

Unfortunately, this is where the good news ends. The sound here leaves a bit to be desired. At the beginning of each episode, we see a text scroll accompanied by the Star Wars music, just like in the movies. The music here could've been better."Star Wars: Flight Of The Falcon" did a much better job with this music.During the game, we hear a variety of themes from the movies. They're all decent reproductions at best. The sound effects here are better.Laser blasts all sound pretty much like they're supposed to, as does the light saber.R2D2 accompanies Luke through some of the levels, and the little droid makes faithfully reproduced beeping noises when he accesses a terminal or wall socket (which he does frequently). He also makes that whining sound when he gets hit by a laser blast. So our sound department is a mixed bag.Effects are good.Music could've been better.

All of this would be acceptable if not for the game-play, which does a great job of bringing this game down. The problems here are so numerous, I'm not sure where to begin. For starters, this game does way too much talking. As mentioned, the story is told from Luke's point of view, and we are subjected to him telling the entire story...in detail.Along with static scenes from the movies, he'll tell us what's currently going on at any given point during the game. This is all pretty redundant and annoying to have to skip through at a couple lines of text at a time.

This game is mostly a side-scrolling platformer.Throughout Episode IV, Luke runs and jumps around with his blaster, shooting tusken raiders and storm troopers. At the beginning of Episode V, he gets his light saber.I know it sounds promising and engaging, but this is some very mediocre gaming (if not worse). The level designs are very pedestrian, and there are many levels here to traverse.

To make matters worse, there are frequent freeze-frame encounters, during which hordes of storm troopers must be eliminated before you can progress. When you reach a certain point, the screen is surrounded by black borders, and storm troopers will come on-screen from the left and right. You have to kill them all before you can advance. This happens so often, it becomes extremely monotonous.I lost interest before Luke arrived on the Death Star.First he had to go through several levels of tusken raiders, then several more levels of Mos Eisely.By the time he arrived at the Death Star, it was already becoming tiresome.I kept entering a doorway and finding myself in yet another level full of storm troopers, and I was thinking "Aren't we there yet?"It doesn't get better. It just keeps getting worse.Level after level of probe droids and snow troopers.Level after level of storm troopers at Bespin. And so on.

The controls are also part of the problem. To aim up or down with the blaster, you have to hold the R button while standing or crouching, respectively. This aims the blaster diagonally, and there's no way to aim straight up or down. This is incredibly awkward, and there are numerous times where Luke has to shoot storm troopers who are above or below him.The light saber doesn't get much better. There are a variety of light saber moves that Luke can do, but none of them are much of a match for a good blaster at your side. With the light saber, you're walking up to opponents who are shooting you.Add to that the need to jump over prevalent chasms in order to reach the opponents, and you're better off just bringing out the gun.

For the assault on the Death Star, Luke pilots his X-Wing fighter in an overhead view reminiscent of Sinistar. It's pretty silly. The X-Wing and tie fighters bounce off of each other, just like the ships in Sinistar. The trench run is also presented in a silly overhead view. The only thing I liked about this sequence was that Darth Vader and his two escorts show up at the end, and Luke has to dodge their fire until the Millennium Falcon comes on the scene. But the space combat that precedes this little treat is about as awful as the rest of the game.

A built-in save feature automatically saves your progress, and Luke has unlimited lives. If you get killed, you'll restart at the beginning of the current level. This game is begging to be played all the way through, but is it worth the effort?I quit after the first confrontation with Vader.Even if the final third of the game is awesome, it wasn't worth playing through the other two thirds to see it.I have a feeling that the final third is just as dismal as the rest of the game. The designers tend to use the same motifs over and over throughout the game.

To sum up, this game is incredibly awful.Great visuals, good effects, decent music (I've heard better), some awkward controls, and terrible game-play.I don't care how good everything looks. This game isn't fun.A good-looking game that isn't fun is going to look good on the shelf, collecting dust. ... bottom line, If youre kid wants a ds and a game get him/her Urbz:Simz in the city.unless they've played othe simz and don't like them

I LOVE IT!

4-0 out of 5 stars Great... For a little while
I got this game a couple mounths ago and I loved it. Then I won it. It got really boring after the 5th time I played the story line. But it has great gameplay. the 1st time you play it thats all you will ever do (like most sim games) anyways I hope if you get it you will enjoy it very much.

3-0 out of 5 stars this game is strange
this game is definetly among the strangest games ever, your guy is always acting cool and talking about his house being a "crib".
But the music is good for a handheld and the minigames are fun, also people i nthe game tell jokes, but the story is cool. Daddy bigbucks is trying to ruin everyones life by giving everything expensive fees.
How will he do that? by buying sim city! he's that rich, has funny hair and you have to stop him. there's no shooting i n this game and I would not reccomend it. ... Read more

Editorial Review

If you're still suffering the lingering effects of Pac-Man fever, you'llbe excited to hear that Namco's Pac-Man Collection repackages theinfectious original with three other Pac-Man-themed games in a new anthology forthe Game Boy Advance.

Pac-Man Collection contains the original Pac-Man, plusPac-Attack, PacMania 3D, and the never-before-seen-out-of-the-arcadePac-Man Arrangement game. Pac-Man plays like you remember, andlike Namco Museums's picture perfect re-creation of Ms. Pac-Man,it features spot-on control, graphics, cartoon cutscenes, sound effects, and, best of all, music from the coin-op (who can forget that opening theme?). Assuch, it's easily the best of this collection.

PacMania 3D is basically a 3-D version of the original, and is just aboutas uninspired now as when it came out. Pac-Attack is a cool variation onsuch puzzlers as Tetris and Columns, and as such it's perfect forhandheld gaming. Pac-Man Arrangement is an odd little game that playsmuch like the original but adds weird power-ups that, for example, make yougigantic.

Because Pac-Man Collection is a perfectly emulated package, there isn'tmuch to gripe about, save that Ms. Pac-Man is a far, far better game thanthe original, and you'll have to shell out more money if you want that one. Butfor retro gamers on the go who also want to track down ghosts and eat powerpills, this package is sure to sate your hunger. --Andrew S. Bub

Pros:

  • Perfect graphics and sound
  • Perfect controls
  • Pac-Attack is a fun Tetris variant
Cons:
  • It's missing the best Pac game, Ms. Pac-Man
  • Pac-Man Arrangement and PacMania 3D aren't really great games

3-0 out of 5 stars Weak ass game!
I like this game but, the slam dumk contest kindna weak. Street vol.2 is the best one.

5-0 out of 5 stars Addictive Gameplay
When I purchased this game for X-Box, my decision was based on the enjoyment that I got out of NBA Street 2 for PS2.I figured that the 3rd installment would be at least as good as the 2nd. Believe me, it's better. The graphics are very unique, much more three-dimensional than the previous version.I know that there are a lot of people that are disappointed that Michael Jordan is not included as a bonus player, but there are many bonus players, courts, items, etc. that keep the game fresh and as unique and original as possible. So if you're in the market for a fun game that isn't too difficult to get the hang of, then this game is a great choice. It only takes a few pick-up games to get the hang of the controls, and the game just gets better and better after that. The only drawback that I have found with this game is the lack of camera angles. The available angles are either too close or too far away for my tastes, but I have gotten used to.

5-0 out of 5 stars If I Could I Would Give It 10 Stars.
I love all the NBA Streets series. Missing Michael Jordan but who cares this game is still fun as hell. The graphics are beautiful. I'm the King of this game, I rule this game. The best thing about is the slam dunk contest. So everybody get this game and don't try to challenge cause I will defeat you 21 (Me) to Zip (U). ... Read more

Bought this for my 6 year old gaming/tv freak, very sturdy construction with no worries of tipping the 27 inch tv. Currently we have a DVD/VCR combo on the second shelf and a GameCube on the bottom. The only problem we have had is the spacing slats that hold the DVD's in place don't hold them tightly enough and they sometimes fall off of the stand. Easy to put together and even easier to keep clean.

5-0 out of 5 stars way way better than the first 2!
this video game center is way better than the first 2 video centers from step2, this one fits all my ps2 and gamecube games perfectly and neat, the other two are more old fashioned and don't fit ps2, gamcube, and dvds like this one does.this game center is real strong the other 2 are'nt. my 27 inch tv fits good and looks nice on the game center. and the other bad thing bout the other two video game centers is you can only fit 19 inch or smaller tvs on them and if your a real gamer you would want a bigger tv cause your games look alot better. ... This is a great product. This screen makes the gamcube completely portable. The screen has brightness and sound control. The screen is not black and white. You can play in the car or play in rooms that don't have a tv to plug into. If you get the battery for the GC, you can use the screen out doors. The only problem is the small size of the screen, but you will get used to it shortly. This is a great product and I recommend getting it. (...)

2-0 out of 5 stars sand trap rule sucks big time
There is one rule in the tournament mode which makes as much sense as saying people never die when you know in fact that is totally wrong, absurd, and psychotic. In the stage trial, they have a rule which says everytime you land in the sand trap, that costs you a 2 stroke penalty no matter whether it's a par 3, 4, or 5. If that rule applies, then the par should be an 8, 11, or 72 for just 1 hole, not all 18 of them.

I was experimenting with that rule AND WITH VARIOUS CLUBS such as standard, turbo spin, and the 1000 ft hammer club and I was also experimenting with the different players such as Brad, Mel, Sam, and ALLAN, and no matter which person I tried, the ball either went out of bounds anyway, or it found the sand trap. Is the object of golf to get triple bogeys and encourage others to waste their money on such lunacy? The people who wrote this pedestrian and antique program sure think so or they wouldn't be laughing all the way to the bank either. Would they enjoy standing in the unemployment line as the bill collectors ask for the money they advanced?

It seems there is no way around this nauseating rule of sand traps unless you choose to vomit and puke on George Bush's desk at the White House and let's see the people at Klap Hanz even get past the security guards! send me your photos if you get that far, ok because a deal is a deal here! That sand trap rule of +2 makes as much sense as using a putter off the tee and using a driver on the green.

I see no difference in the logic or in the analogy between their nerve racking terms and mine because no game is fun to play because of their been there, done that b.s. There was even a case where I tried to avoid the sand traps only to find that some moron left the golf cart right smack in the fairway which deflected the ball out of bounds. Why not try indecent exposure during a bank robbery and see if the judge will bestow any mercy on your criminal butt! This game is a joke and I'm not laughing any more than what a cook does when peeling onions in front of a skunk.

5-0 out of 5 stars The PS2 Game for Adults & Non-Game Players
I'm not much into video games, That's my kids' past time, but I enjoy this game.It keeps me on the LINKs during the winter and does so playfully. There are other golf games that take themselves more seriously, but this one has everything an arm chair duffer could want with enough humor to make it fun.

I played Hot Shots Golf Three until my kids snuck off to college with it.My wife replaced it with this one and I am glad she did.

Version fore is much like three, same courses, same characters, same humor, only more so.New courses, new characters, and slightly better graphics have been added. In the older version I kept looking for the extra critters that are so familiar around the golf course. In this version they are easy to see, along with some others (such as bears) that I have yet to see at my favorite club.

This is a great way to battle the winter blues.

4-0 out of 5 stars fore!
I played Hot Shots Golf 3 before this and was pretty impressed with it. When this came available I picked up a copy too. Overall I think the concept is great; it's allot of fun to play with the special effects and humorous characters, and the scenery is great. On the other hand, the playability leaves something to be desired.

I've heard several people argue that the "3" version was somewhat biased toward the computer players and made winning quite difficult for the human player. I'm not sure what to say about that but I will say that with "Fore" I've suspected that on more than one occasion the game became disproportionately difficult as I approached a victory.

Overall I give it 4 stars because I think the concept is fun and it's interesting gameplay. Does the game cheat? You decide. Either way it's pretty entertaining but not a five star offering. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Fun Fun Fun the first couple of times, but then...
Now believe me. This game was just pure fun the first couple of times of playing it. Especially with friends. Everything seemed to be perfect. The mic worked just fine and so did everything else. I just had a blast.
But after you beat the game it just seems to become a little less fun everytime you play it more. I mean the highest score you can get it 50,000. And I always want to beat that score but the problem is that is the highest score you can get. So I don't really have anything to look forward to anymore either. I have everything unlocked as well. So what now. Looks like I will have to wait for the 4th installment. Because I'm afraid that if I play this game a couple more times I will begin to hate it.
Which will not be good.
So my final judgementis that this game is worth a rent. I mean you could buy it too but the fun factor will dissapear as soon as you have everything unlocked. But it is still good for parties.
Final Grade: C- (It's better than the second but still needs alot more improvements)

In comparison to other Eyetoy games like Sega Superstars (see my other review) this title by Nicktoons is excellent!!!The game loads as expected and all the games, although quite simple to play, are fun for the kids.Well done to Nickelodeon and I hope they develop further titles.

5-0 out of 5 stars Lots of fun!
This is the first game we've bought for our Eye Toy and it was definetly worth it.There are 13 mini games all featuring Nick characters. Some of the games are pretty easy and even my two-year-olds can play, others give Mom and Dad a challenge. The room does have to be VERY well lit and a nearby wall in the background helps too.If anyone should walk behind you, they will automatically be "in the game" also.Anyway, we love it, lots of fun to watch and play.Fun for all ages. ... 4-0 out of 5 stars Kirby's Ready to Ride!
This game is extremely fun and easy to play but it is limited. There are 3 modes but no story mode. The modes are City Trial, Air Ride, and Top Ride.City Trial: You fly around a city trying to upgrade your ship.Air Ride:Basic Racing.Top Ride:You race on a small course. You see everything from above. Its like a mini arcade game.I like it.

3-0 out of 5 stars Kirby Air Ride
Kirby arrives on Nintendo GameCube at warp speed in his first-ever racing game. Based on the same principles as games like Super Smash Brothers and past Kirby titles, Kirby Air Ride offers an entirely new approach to the racing genre. The ultra-easy controls give Kirby Air Ride instant playability no matter how skilled the players may be. You control Kirby with the analog stick and the A button -- that's it. The stick steers the character left and right (he accelerates perpetually) and the A button when pressed slows him down and when released delivers a temporary speed boost. The idea is to hold the button down around corners, drift them, and then shoot out with a burst of speed. The game features a four-player split-screen mode and LAN support for link-up play.

It's one thing to make a game simple so that anybody can enjoy it. Just look at Mario Kart, for instance. It's another thing entirely to make it so simple and so devoid of depth or challenge that most will dislike it -- will, in fact, be utterly bored with it. This is Kirby Air Ride.

HAL's decision to use only one control button means that several important processes of racing have all been assigned to it, including drifting and using weapons, and this severely limits the options and maneuverability of both. Any way you slice it -- for kids or for adults -- that's simply bad design. This is simple stuff, yes, but I wouldn't call it intuitive.

There's a lot to do and see in Kirby. It's a fast, friendly racer. And sure enough very young players may be mesmerized by it -- they won't have to try very hard to succeed, that's for sure. But anybody expecting a challenge or Tetris-style depth -- the kind you don't initially recognize but which hides under the surface -- will unfortunately find nothing at all hiding here.

Air Ride could have scored a lot higher, but instead Kirby will have to settle for average score. This racer only comes recommended as a potential buy to parents who are shopping for their under-nine son or daughter. Everybody else would be wise to buy Mario Kart Double Dash.

1-0 out of 5 stars No thanks
Let me start off by saying I'm NOT one to completely bash a game/band/movie to death and then walk away, I do try to find at least one thing positive to point out. This game was pretty terrible though in my opinion. It managed to keep me somewhat entertained for about a week. The mini games were the only kinda fun part of this game, and the courses were pretty cool, but the game got boring after a week. There's just not much to do, but hey, that's why I hate almost all racing games. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars A Fun Fish Game
My 5 year old son Nat has the following to say about Shark Tale, "It is a great gift from my Mom to me. It is a fun toy and I like to play with it."

1-0 out of 5 stars Oh boy....
This is what I think of the game...BLAHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Now that that's out of the way, I can tell you all about this video game. You get to play as Oscar, the fish and do nothing but work at the Whale Wash, swim and fight a really nice shark that has a problem with killing animals like Oscar. Oscar doesn't need the title, Shark Slayer!! Anyway I can't tell you how a story about rapping fish came to be a video game. I mean Finding Nemo the video game wasn't that bad, but they made a really bad movie into an even worse video game. That is all.

4-0 out of 5 stars WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT?
Why would this game have a cute little fishy in it? This game though is pretty good. You get to play as Oscar, the "cute little fishy" and do some hip hop YO! You dance, but ya don't prance. You also get to kick some shark butt which is pretty cool. GET THIS GAME AND DON'T LISTEN TO THE OTHER REVIEWS! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars I miss the big screen, but this game still rocks the house.
Incredibly simple -- and simply addictive. It's practically impossible to put this game down once you start playing it. There are vague similarities to Tetris, but Dr. Mario is even simpler in concept. So you can jump in immediately -- but this doesn't mean the game isn't challenging. You'll quickly discover just how difficult a simple game can get! Fortunately, the three game play speeds and 21 levels of play allow you to set the difficulty level at whatever is most challenging for you.

A serious beef with the GBA version: the screen is poorly lit, and as a result the red and yellow viruses and capsules can be hard to distinguish from each other. I'm hoping that, since GBA games can also be played on the DS, the better lighting of the DS might solve this problem.

And a minor quibble: why not save the high scores?! (They are erased every time you turn off the system.) This was also true in the 8-bit NES version, but there's just no excuse for not having the saving capability now. It'd be nice not to have to write down my high scores!

5-0 out of 5 stars Dr. Mario for the Gameboy Advance........my opinion....
Yup, it's about dadgummed time we see Dr. Mario for the Gameboy Advance. Except for the version on the original Gameboy, there's been no other handheld version of the game til' now. Admittedly, it's been on every other Nintendo console system that's been out. Course, I can never get enough of the game- it seems. It's really addictive. I understand how Nintendo is releasing the Classic NES series on the system, though. For the sheer pleasure of people enjoying the original games. Yet, part of me somehow wishes they had of updated the game for the Gameboy Advance kinda' like they did for the Nintendo 64, graphically as well as multiplayer-wise. If you own a GBA; you've seen updates of classics like Tetris and whatnot...why not Dr. Mario. I'm inclined to agree with arlando909 in that, unless you don't own any of the other systems and their versions, why bother spending your money on this version. The only reason why I got it is for the fact that I've had trouble rounding up the original Gameboy version and I wanted a handheld version of it to play on the go. Wish I had of looked here at Amazon first. Could have saved some money in the process.
Other than that, Dr. Mario is worth it. The classic will never get old. It's addictive gameplay will keep you coming back for more and more.

3-0 out of 5 stars Not for 20 Bucks!
Dr. Mario, another NES classic game and another game in the classic NES series that suffers from "Too much of the same game availible".

Dr. Mario is easy to get the hang of.Mario throws pills into a jar and you have to match the color up with the proper virus. So a red pill needs to land on a red virus. As the never ending game progresses the jar has more and more viruses inside. It doesn't sound like much fun but its one of the most addicting games once you get into it (the only addicting game that draws competition to Tetris, mind you).

Graphic wise it looks really colorful and neat.Again, as with the other classic NES games the ratio had to be made to fit on the gameboy screen. Some things actually look smaller than they should but it shouldn't pose a problem. You can still see everything just fine.

The problem with Dr. Mario is its a game that through its transition to other systems, it never changed in the way of its gameplay.I could buy the original Gameboy version and it would still be like owning the classic NES version.I could even go out and find a copy of "Tetris and Dr. Mario" on the SNES and that would still be the same thing I'm getting here.

Unless you don't have the Gameboy, NES, SNES or even the N64 version, you've got no reason ot pick this up at all.Through the years, Dr. Mario has only received graphical upgrades but nothing that deteriates from the gameplay.

I like Dr. Mario, its one of my favorite games, but what would be the point of getting the GBA version when I've already got the original Gameboy version and the SNES version?Save your money on this one, it isn't worth the 20 dollars. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars WOW!!
OH MY GOD! When I heard this game was coming out, I thought it was just going to be the a gameboy game type of game and it would be stupid, but when I rented it, IT WAS GREAT!!! It was hecka fun and I wish I could've beaten it. The only thing is that I brought my memory card to my friend's house and we were going to play 2p, turns out we can't because I don't have a gameboy advance!! That sucked. Otherwise, this game is great!

5-0 out of 5 stars funnest mulit-player game ever
I love this game.me and my friends all went in on it, and we stayed up one night playing it non-stop (thanks goodness we're dumb so it takes a while to solve puzzles).T he graphics, story, competition, and coop is perfect.I love how you go into a cave or house and it appears on your gba.

this game is a must have, unless you have like a spare week to play it, just rent it.

3-0 out of 5 stars Use only with Gameboy Advance
This game is not worth buying or renting unless you have other players, to play with you, which also means you need the Gameboy Advance, and the cable to connect it to the Gamecube. The graphics are what you would see on a Gameboy Color, so unless you are using as a multiplayer game, don't bother even renting it. ... Editorial Review

Ace Combat 04: Shattered Skies is as close as console owners cancome to owning a PC-class simulator. It still has the arcade sensibilities ofprevious entries in this popular series, but the graphics, number of planes (allwith different flight characteristics), and story line kick this dogfightingexperience into full afterburner.

Things don't start out too well. Early in the game you're saddled with whatamounts to a flying brick, and are forced to fly a few boring mud-movingmissions. Stick with it, though. By the end of the game, you'll have earnedenough money to buy a hangar full of incredible aircraft, each with specialweapons, capabilities, and shortcomings. The F-14, for example, has a slow rollrate but can engage multiple targets at long range. The A-10 is horrible in adogfight, but is devastating down low. You'll need to familiarize yourself withall the planes, as picking the right plane for the job always spells thedifference between success and failure in the later missions.

The game is nearly perfect in the audio department, with booming engine noises(taken from recordings of the planes' real-life counterparts) and constant radiochatter during missions. Graphically, it's a bit of a letdown, especially theanemic explosions. Up high, everything is picture perfect, and the plane modelsare gorgeous, but close to the ground the terrain melts into a pixilated mess. This is offset somewhat by the inclusion of dense urban areas and twistingcanyons that are thrilling to fly through. All things considered, ShatteredSkies is the best mix of simulation and arcade action ever burned onto adisc. --T. Byrl Baker

Pros:

  • Photorealistic terrain (at least when viewed from high altitude)
  • Nonstop action backed by an engaging story
  • Intense dogfights, sometimes involving dozens of planes
Cons:
  • Scripted mission design doesn't give players much freedom
  • Pathetic explosions
  • Terrain that loses detail when viewed from a low altitude

3-0 out of 5 stars Swings for fence, hits wall.
In Ace 4, the story is told from the point of view of a little kid in an occupied city that happens to be the home airbase for the Yellow Squadron, the best of the best. You never find out how the war started or what the war is about. You have no idea of any ideologies, even though the kids call one of the pilot's a fascist (and feel bad about it as the pilot stares at them disbelievingly, as if he's just been insulted).

You play the game as an anonymous pilot in the other air force and have no idea what you're fighting for, other than against the other side, which apparently shops at the same foreign airplane outlet stores as your side. Throughout the game, you get the subtle sensation that the war is all just a big mistake that must be fought to the bitter end because ... I don't know.

I'm guessing that since Namco is a Japanese gamemaker, and Japan is a sorta pacifistic state anymore, the game designers didn't want to or weren't able to come up with a plausible backstory to motivate the people who would be fighting in the virtual cockpits they were designing. This is lame. It's a video game, fercryinoutloud, and the countries at war are FAKE countries, so would it be too hard to have one of them be a real bad meanie who really wants to kill your country, and have all the characters on your side committed to victory?

But the whole telling of the war as seen through a kid's observations of what appear to be wholly honorable and noble enemy pilots takes a whole lot of oomph out of the game. Hell, how hard would it have been to have made Yellow Squadron the abstract super killers and given their story to the player's side? Not. Hard. It would've taken one writer about thirty minutes on a PC to change a couple of pieces of dialogue to make it work, too.

And in the end, the kid would have had heroes to admire, not enemies to ponder indeterminate thoughts of what it means to be an enemy hero. Sheesh. I pay money for this stuff, at least put some effort into it.

The flying was all fun and the missions were mostly well done, although the final mission is a corker of unbelievability, though fun. I have no idea if these airplanes in the game fly like this in real life, though, but it doesn't matter since the graphics are great and you're usually too busy shooting stuff down or dropping bombs on things to care.

No rival ,hands down one of the best flying simulator since Top Gun Fire at will(not counting the cheeze videos of fly crew talking to you).AC4 is highly addictive the the controller are sweet and easy to get the hang of it the graphics are top notch with a decent story line.the diversity of planes you acquired as you play along gives you a brand new experience in new and previous missions ,which by the way are quite a few with a killer awesome last mission that would keep your eyes glue to the tube as tilt your whole body making you believe you are in that plane trying to survive a stars wars like run on a missile bunker.I personally enjoy it to the point adquiring s ranking in all difficulty and still when back for more.in short if you dont want spend $49.99 on the sequel get this one, believe me Mobious One will make Maverik park his plane in the hangar and make Top Gun School file for a Chapter 11

5-0 out of 5 stars endless fun, infinite replayability
It's one of my favorite PS2 games. I've been looking for good PS2 flight sim and this one is a jewel. Controls are simple and well taught in a series of tutorials. The difficulty is ramping up very gently. In the later missions different objectives and in-flight mission updates encourage you to try different planes to complete the entire mission. The planes are quite different and picking the right one could be crucial. I doubt that any real physics simulation is involved at all but the balancing and tweaking of the plane in-game parameters is superb. Graphics is absolutely awesome. Replay feature is very nice. Jets sound is very cool. The background music was probably the only annoying thing but it could be turned off. Dialogs are quite interesting and entertaining. I heard the story is good too, but I was so obsessed with flying that skipped all of it! The game has several levels of difficulty and is easy to pick up at "very easy" one. Same missions played at more difficult levels make you apply a bit of a strategy to the way you fly and fight. More tedious stuff like landing on a carrier is skippable which is great for playing the game first time. Playing second time I enjoyed all of these extra parts. The game works very well even for short gaming sessions (being quite busy I could play only half hour a day). Bottom line: one of the best PS2 games ever. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars What's more fun than doing errands?
I got the Lemony Snicket game for Christmas after reading the books and watching the movie. It's about 3 kids who lost there parents in a terrible fire. They are then taken to guardien after guardien because all of there guardiens either die or turn out to be evil. When I got the game I started to play it and was dissapointed with it.You have to fight enemies and do puzzles but most of all, you just run around and do errands. Now I'll tell you the number of stars for specific things in the game.

Fun ****(4 stars)
I gave this game four stars for fun because I thought it was kind of challenging. There were some parts which were confusing and I had to get help, but other than that, this gamedeserves 4 stars for fun.

Storyline **(2 stars)
This game didn't follow the storyline of the books or the movie very well. There were tasks which were made just to make the game long enough for the players. They weren't in either the books or the movie. Also, there were places in the game which had nothing to do with the storyline like in Uncle Monty's bckyard. In his backyard is the Montgomerey Forest which w
