5-0 out of 5 stars My Favorite game is Star Wars Jedi Knight Jedi Academy
I love this game because I a huge fan of Star Wars and I like this game because it is so fun to play by myself and I like the sound effects and the graphics and the lightsabers too. I will recomend this game for any hard core Star Wars fan!!!

4-0 out of 5 stars Better than Outcast, not as good asJedi Knight
What I liked about this game was the speed and 3rd person view controls (for the most part). The Xbox controller handled things pretty well under the default settings. My biggest problems with it was ducking (plunging the right stick) and the limited space available for Jedi force powers. Four assignable buttons were not really enough for all the available forces. I was always short one force power and reassigning forces in the middle of a fight was out of the question. Effects in 1st person view are lacking (not just in the resolution dept.) when compared with the PC version. For example weapons animation was nada. The story was OK. It wasn't ground breaking or anything, but it was interesting enough. My biggest complaint here was Jaden's (your character) speed of advancement. It made Kyle look like a slow learner.
Every other incarnation of the Jedi Knight series started you with conventional weapons and slowly devoloped the light sabre skills. Yes, you could use the light sabre early on in them as well, but your character (Kyle) was downright inept at it. That system forced you to get comfortable with all the conventional weapons first and then eventually had you convert over to Jedi fighting. Thats what helped make Jedi Knight so good. In this game you start off by knowing the most powerful forces (sabre throw and sabre defence) and can use them straight away. Because of this using conventional weapons in Jedi Academy became almost an afterthought really early on (eg. oh there's an enemy way off in the distance....I think i'll sniper that one). An oppprtunity to go into more training scenarios was also missed. One introductory level goes into basic training and that is it. Considering all of the acrobatics in this one I would of welcomed more than just,"Oh, you're level 3 now, move on to the next set of missions and familierize yourself as you go".

Jedi academy is a pretty good take on Dark Forces but I have played much better. Also, eventhough the Xbox release is quite good I think it would be better played on a decent PC. Although, its possible that a keyboard/mouse combo would not stack up to the contoller S specifically when in Lightsaber combat. There will be pros and cons to both versions I guess. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars THIS GAME ROCKS
I dont care what anybody says this game is awsome. You play as predator and yor arsonal gets better and better as you go along. The graphics are good and so is the story line. I rented this game and wished that i bought it it is so fun to play and watch the story progress.

4-0 out of 5 stars Pretty good
This game got some bad reviews from IGN.com but I really like the predator character and I figured I'd give the game a try.Its no Halo 2 or anything close to a really great game, but its a lot of fun to play around with.Lots of controls and options that take a lot of time to master and configure.Once you learn and have it the way you want its easy to control.I wish they would take this predator idea and make a really great game out of it.It could be so much.i have heard good things about the PC game AvsP but never played it.Graphics are average and so is the game play.So unless your a fan you won't get much out of this game. But if your a fan then don't pass this up.

3-0 out of 5 stars LIKE IT BETTER THAN I THOUGHT I WOULD
Predator Concrete Jungle sets up a new storyline with you playing the role as one of those great hunters.Seems you screwed up on Earth 100 years ago and left behind technology which the humans have now had a chance to figure out and use to build a great futuristic Metropolis run by street gangs, Voodoo Priests and other unsavory types.Your Predator clan now sends you back to Earth to clean up the mess. This is a third person actioneer where you play the predator and go about hunting down various objectives, killing them and taking parts as trophies.Unfortunately while trying to make a game that wasn't linear they succeeded in making one that was very confusing as far as figuring out just where you're supposed to go and who to kill. Now there are lots of neat abilities and weapons at your disposal as the Predator like plasma guns, spear guns, wrist blades and upgrades can be found throughout the game. You can also pull off a fairly wide variety of attacks and combos. This all leads to some cool, but ultimately repetitive animations of skinning bodies or beheadings which lose their cool factor pretty quickly after a few dozen times. You also have the Predator's stealth skills and cloaking at your disposal as well. There's even a pretty sweet voice mimicking trick you can use to lure your prey.

Graphics are fairly average. The scenery of the levels are a bit on the dull side although the Predator himself is quite awesome to behold. The sound is also somewhat average. It's not horrible but nothing stands out.

Overall it's just an ok game. It's not horrible in any one area but neither does it stand out in any area either. It's another fairly weak licensed game from a franchise that has never had a great game and may be time to retire.

5-0 out of 5 stars Nothing Beats DDR!
Part I - Dance Dance Revolution Extreme

An ultra fun video game that gives a good workout just seems too cool to be true, but there is a game that has those attributes:DDR.This great game changed my life and turned me from a lazy guy playing computer all day to becoming a true athlete, as working out is so much fun after playing DDR!

Although DDR Extreme was a big disappointment for a Dance Dance Revolution installment for DDR experts, it's easily the best one for beginners with its familiar songs, easy game engine, and Beginner mode (which debuted on DDRMAX2).

Dance Dance Revolution Extreme and all the other DDR games out there are 2-D games (Except for the dancers in the background) with one major point:Dancing with your feet. You have a dance mat (or stage) where you tap your feet on the arrows planted on the mat at the same time as the matching arrow on the screen is inside the outlined arrow. There are five (or six) ratings you can get for your accuracy:Marvelous (Not on a regular game), Perfect, Great, Good (Which should really be Average), Almost, and Boo.You want to get the first ratings I listed, and not an Almost or Boo, or else your dance gauge (Which kind of shows your health) will start to slip until it runs out and you lose a song.At the end of the song, you can receive an overall grade, depending on your overall accuracy, of either an E (Which you get for failing a song), a D (Which you get for surviving, but receiving a poor score), a C, a B, an A, a double A, or a triple A (Which you get for receiving a perfect score).Even if this sounds cheesy at first, doing this to the exciting music in the background is actually extremely fun.

Four different difficulty levels exist on DDR Extreme (and a fifth one for a few songs):Beginner, Light, Standard, and Heavy (the fifth one is called Challenge/Oni).Prior to DDRMAX2, there was no Beginner mode, and only a few songs (like "Peace Out" and "Cutie Chaser Morning Mix") were easy enough to be beaten by beginners.I therefore only recommend this or DDRMAX2 if you're a beginner.

When you first get the game, you start with 44 songs, and you can unlock 26 more songs for a grand total of 70 songs. To unlock the hidden songs, you must clear songs about 5 to 10 times.Once you do that, a new song is unlocked. The first song you can unlock is called Scorching Moon, and the last one you unlock is called The Legend of Max.You can also unlock new dancers for dancing in the background in songs without real music videos, but I never use characters (Having a character is optional).

If you play a regular game, you can, instead of simply select a song and dance; choose to play two alternate modes:Nonstop and Challenging mode.In Nonstop mode, you can play four songs in a row without stopping.Sadly, there's only a limited selection of lists of songs you can select from, but thankfully, you can choose from "Players Best", which includes the top 4 songs that you've selected the most. This mode was best in DDR Konamix because you could select which songs to be on a list.Challenging mode is hardly worth the trouble. You have four lives, and each time you get a Good or worse, you lose a life. This mode is very frustrating, and only those who can get AA's all the time will find it an attracting way to play.

The Party Mode, which is new for DDR Extreme, is a futuristic-style way to play video games, as you can dance with both hands and feet while seeing yourself dance, although you need the camera for PS2 to do so.Being able to play with both your hands and feet while watching yourself is genius, and must be extremely fun to do.The Hands and Feet Mode is likely the highlight of the Party Mode; the other games are too simple and boring (feeding an animal the right food, etc.).

Along the way, you can unlock two new modes:Mission Mode and Endless mode.In Mission Mode, you dance to different songs with an unusual task to win.Be careful about the visual tricks that are used in many of the songs in Mission Mode.In Endless Mode, you keep dancing until you fail with a randomly chosen character. The songs that you dance to are randomly selected. The problem with it is that you're forced to have a character dance in the background and might end up with one you can't stand.

The Workout Mode in the game allows you to keep track of your fitness and allows you to figure out what you should be doing to keep yourself healthy. If it's on, you'll see how healthy of a workout you got after you finish dancing to a song.Your score will be better if you play fast songs like Drop Out or either of the Paranoia remixes, so play those songs if you want to get fit quickly.

The training mode is a mode where you can't unlock anything, but you can practice the different songs in the game without being stopped by failing and without the thrilling backgrounds.Unfortunately, in DDR Extreme, you can't slow down a song if you need to be able to study something fast and confusing.Even DDR Konamix had this feature.

Finally, I'll take you to the information mode, which gives info about all of the different songs in the game.It tells you if the song you're studying is from a previous DDR game or not, what you should try to do while dancing to the song, or what kind of music it is.According to it, plenty of songs from Dance Dance Revolution Konamix have been brought back, but only three songs have returned from DDRMAX2.

But why is this 2-D game that has the same goal over and over again so great?Well, there are certainly several reasons why:

1. DDR Extreme has a total of 70 different types of songs to choose from. You can find the type of music that's best for you. From a typical energetic dance song (B4U), to a song that's easy to recognize (YMCA, Waiting For Tonight, Like A Virgin), to a jazzy song (On The Jazz, Funk Boogie), to a Japanese pop song (Firefly, Pink Rose), to a supercharged song full of energy (Drop Out, I Feel...) to a song that combines a whole bunch of styles together (JaneJana, Do Me HIGEO Mix, Make It Better), to a theme song from a movie (Never Ending Story, Enter The Dragon) to even a classic song from previous generations of DDR (.59, Drop The Bomb), there's destined to be a song that you'll enjoy.

2. The replay value to this game is incredible, since you can build up your mad skills from beginner to expert, trying to successfully receive all Perfects on songs. You won't want to stop!

3. If you like video games, but you're out of shape, this is a game that can help knock off your weight and keep you fit.I've lost six pounds playing this game since November to December.I've suddenly started to love working out ever since I started playing this game.Seriously, your life will be a lot better after you're fit.

Then again, there are some downsides to this game, but minor downsides:

1. The host of this game gets on your nerves easily.Fortunately, you can shut him off when you're dancing, but not when it's most annoying:When you fail a song. His quote, "W-w-what?" is super annoying, as when he speaks in Japanese.

2. It's hard to find a dance mat that works well.Even the Ignition 2.0 Pad broke down twice within about a couple of weeks for me.It might've been because I was tapping too hard on the arrows, but it still might break down quickly.

3. DDR Extreme for US isn't based on the arcade version, and very few DDR Extreme (arcade) songs are included on the home version ("321Stars", "A", "JaneJana", etc.).Why no "Bag", "1998", "Speed Over Beethoven", and "Paranoia Eternal" (which should've been on DDRMAX2) instead of "Paranoia Survivor"?Not even the licensed songs from the arcade like "We Will Rock You" are on.Konami should release a DDR Konamix 2, a game that should include all of those missed songs from DDR Extreme (arcade) that used DDR Extreme's (arcade) game engine and should keep the DDR experts into DDR.

Anyway, here's the song list included in DDR Extreme, as well as grades for them and comments about what they sound like:

(Songs with * are ones that must be unlocked)

1..59:A (Exciting)
2.*321Stars:B (This one is easy to hate, but I can deal with it)
3.*A:A (Seems to be pretty darn popular, probably because of its challenge and energy)
4.A Stupid Barber:A- (Strange but interesting euro pop)
5.*Absolute:A (A nice blast of typical DJ Taka sound)
6.*B4U:A- (Awesome techno song about DDR)
7.*B4U (B4 Za Beat Mix):A (A more energetic version of B4U)
8.Bad Routine:C+ (So-so house music)
9.Believe:D (Don't like licensed songs much)
10. Bizarre Love Triangle:B+ (But this is an exception)
11. *Can't Stop Falling In Love (Speed Mix):A (Feel the strength of this song!)
12. Diving:B+ (Deep euro trance music)
13. Do Me (H.I.G.E.O. Mix):B (Groovy house music)
14. Don't Clock Me:C- (Okay old skool song plagued by bad lyrics)
15. Drop Out:A++ (Awesome!Feel the energy and danger of this song!)
16. *Drop Out (Remix):A (I personally liked the original better, but this is still good)
17. *Drop The Bomb:A- (Pretty exciting techno song)
18. Ecstasy:A+ (Excellent and exciting euro trance)
19. *Ecstasy (Midnight Blue Mix):A- (Less exciting than original)
20. Firefly:A+++ (Very exciting buildup, cute singers, and great pop/techno/rock music sound!Excellent!)
21. *Frozen Ray (For Extreme):B (Gentle sound, although harsh steps)
22. *Funk Boogie:C+ (So-so jazz/funk music with very simple steps)
23. Go West:A- (A memorable cover of a Village People song)
24. Higher:B (Happy feeling, though a bit targeted toward female dancers)
25. *Higher (Next Morning Mix):B (Really nothing different except for harder steps)
26. Highs Off U (Scorcico XY Mix):F (Listen carefully - THE F-WORD IS USED TWICE IN THIS SONG!!!Very unfriendly to younger dancers)
27. I Feel...:A+ (Energy.Power soul.Techno.Awesome!)
28. I'm For Real:C (Eh, okay, but a bit sleepy)
29. JaneJana:A- (It used to be an F, but I'm no longer annoyed by it.It sounds very strange.)
30. Jet World:A (Very much fun to dance to with a rock/country combination)
31. *Keep On Movin':C (Just your typical dance song.)
32. Kick the Can:B+ (Finally, Kick the Can is on a US mix! It's pretty fun, though not quite the best.)
33. Kids in America:D (Don't like most licensed songs.)
34. *La Senorita:A (Fun Latin to dance to, although La Senorita Virtual is just weird.)
35. Ladies Night:C (Licensed songs again.)
36. Like A Virgin:D- (Another licensed song, only this time it's horrible.)
37. Love Love Sugar:D (I found this song much too targeted toward female dancers to give it a high grade.)
38. *Make It Better:B (One of the very first Konami Original songs ever. It's rather strange, but still decent.)
39. *Maximizer:A++ (Feels like you're riding a roller coaster!)
40. Miracle:D+ (What the heck is a miracle to the singers of this song?)
41. Mobo Moga:A- (Catchy French pop that's playable for me.)
42. Move Your Feet:D+ (Boring topic.Plus, this song seems like it would be on the first Dance Dance Revolution.I know it only came out just recently, but I actually thought it was from the original DDR.It debuted on this game.)
43. Music:A- (Interesting euro techno)
44. Never Ending Story:C (Eh, an okay theme song remix.)
45. *On The Jazz:B+ (Fun-to-dance-to jazz music.)
46. Only You:B- (A 50's-styled song performed by Captain Jack.I'd highly prefer Captain Jack Grandale Remix over this.)
47. Paranoia Eternal:A (Good remix of the song, though it really should've been on DDRMAX2 instead.)
48. *Paranoia Max (Dirty Mix):A+ (The feel of challenge comes in when you start dancing to this creepy, fast song.)
49. Peace Out:D (I never knew slow songs could be annoying.)
50. Pink Rose:A- (This is a nice song. Its instruments could be better, but aw well.)
51. Planet Rock:C- (More liscenced song stuff. This time, a remix of a futuristic old skool track.)
52. *Scorching Moon:B (A strange-sounding collaboration between Sho-T's Groove and DJ Spunga's Bad Routine.)
53. Simply Being Loved:C+ (Another licensed song, though older dancers might like it a lot.)
54. So In Love:C- (A disco/dance/house track with pretty bad vocals.)
55. *The Legend Of Max:B+ (Energetic, though it sounds a bit too much like a song that would play when you're fighting a final boss in a video game.)
56. The Reflex:B+ (Finally, another licensed song that's actually worth dancing to!A great arrangement of the 80's classic.)
57. Theme From Enter The Dragon:A- (An adventurous remix of a movie's theme song.)
58. There You'll Be:B+ (A fast techno remix of the Faith Hill classic.)
59. *Trip Machine:A (Another of the very first Konami Original songs ever, Trip Machine is very fun to dance to with its mechanical techno sounds.)
60. *Trip Machine Survivor:B (A confusing remix of Trip Machine with more energy.)
61. Tsugaru:A (A combination between Matsuri Japan, Exotic Ethnic, Trip Machine, and Healing Vision. The Egyptian sound of Exotic Ethnic plays through most of the song, though the combination between Matsuri Japan's clunky tribal beat, Trip Machine's stiff melody, and Healing Vision's smoothness keep the song sounding Japanese instead.)
62. *Tsugaru (Apple Mix):A (A remix of Tsugaru with more emphasis on Healing Vision and Trip Machine.)
63. *V (For Extreme):B (A dance remix of an orchestral piece from the early 18th century.)
64. Waiting For Tonight:D (I like J. Lo's version much better than this.)
65. Wild Rush:A (Sounds like a song that would play on a car commercial)
66. *Wild Rush (Remix):B (The remix sounds nothing like the original, and doesn't build up its tempo.)
67. Wonderland (UKS Mix):B+ (A fun remake of Boogie Wonderland.)
68. YMCA:B+ (A disco classic that hit DDR.)
69. *You're Not Here:C+ (The song is too sad.)
70. Your Rain (Rage Mix):C- (Very boring techno music with the slowest overall tempo in the game (84 bpm).)

And now, the Numbuh Infinity-style way to conclude the review:My top 3's:

Part II - The free CD

Sometimes, the music on DDR can be quite fun.Sadly, the songs included in the game are often fake and are only made for the game and sometimes Beatmania CD's, which are rare.Thankfully, this package comes with a free music sampler that includes 15 Konami songs from DDR.Now you can listen to that exciting Dance Dance Revolution music anytime you want!
Here's the song list:

1.Scorching Moon
2.A
3.Ecstasy
4.Your Rain (Rage Mix)
5.Wild Rush
6.A Stupid Barber
7.Mobo Moga
8.Jet World
9.321Stars
10. V (For Extreme)
11. I Need You (Inside out Door 3Mixes)[The music that plays in the Information mode]
12. Drop The Bomb (Original Extended Tune)
13. B4U (Glorious Style)
14. So In Love ~train~
15. I Need You (Platinum Mix)

I was a bit sad that "Firefly" wasn't on the CD, but at least the song selection is thoroughly solid and has many popular songs.I actually found this a very worthy CD, and it's by far my most played album on my iPod.It's not that great of a CD when you're just listening to it on a CD player at home or in the car, but it's excellent when you're walking around town with it playing in a portable CD player/iPod.

By the way, this CD can be found in other places outside of this package. You can find it at any large electronics store for free.

4-0 out of 5 stars DDR Is Still Alive.
After the horrible DDR USA, Konami saved themselves with Konamix. After everyone was amazed by freze arrows in DDR Max, DDR Max 2 had to mess everything up again. Now...DDR Extreme is here. DDR Extreme has a totally different interface than any arcade or home version. In my opionion, an easier interface. Many modes have been added, which makes the game more fun. I tried out all the modes (yes, I have the unlockable ones two. In fact, I've unlocked everything.) and found two dumb and pointless ones. #1: Training mode. How stupid, watch the song with some red lines added, and no background. Pass this one up. #2: Mission mode. All you do is play the song with some dumb rule like don't step on more than one arrow at at a time; beat the song with phantom arrows; etc. etc. etc. It's plain annoying.
All the songs are good, but some of the ratings are a mistake. They gave Your Rain 3 foots on light. It's the slowest and pretty much the easiest song in the game. Oh well, I'm not going to talk about the ratings all day. My favorite songs are .59, Kick The Can, and Y.M.C.A. The most dredful songs are The Legend of Max, Higher, and I'm for Real. Yes, I can understand the Legend of Max being here, but if you're desperate enough to put those other two in...
The gameplay is awesome, except for minor flaws.
Edit mode is great. I still don't get why thry put in the confusing green 1/12, yes 1/12 arrows. In edit mode, you sort of reprogram the steps to fit your style. Although, DDR Extreme at the arcades stil can't use PS2 memory cards. That was definitely a bad decision. Party mode is pretty fun. I would recommend this, especially if you want to lose weight! (workout mode)

5-0 out of 5 stars Very Fun!!!!!
This game is A LOT of fun, but make sure you have a dance mat to play this game (see my other reviews to see which dance mat is the best).

There are over 50 songs to dance to and you can unlock different things by dancing (new songs, characters, modes, etc.)

There's is also a party mode (an EyeToy is recommended but not required). You can watch yourself dance, dance with your feet and hands, move your hands to clear the screen so you can see what arrows to go to, move your feet as fast as you can to shake fruit off the trees that you must catch, and a single play pong type ghame where you use your hands.

This game is a very fun game. You may also purchase a second mat (see my other reviews to find the best mat) for two player fun, or just share one mat (or one advanced player can dance using two mats).

This game is a great way to move around and get active while having fun and by playing video games. This game and the mat is worth the money. ... Read more

Editorial Review

Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance took co-operative action role-playing to new heights on the Playstation 2 console. Alone, or with a friend, you could tackle giant rats, undead monsters, dark elves, and even a white dragon, as you uncovered a plot against the good city of Baldur's Gate. But the ending indicated there was more adventure to come. Fans were worried that the sequel wouldn't live up to original's promise when the original design team jumped ship to work on Sony's Champions of Norrath: Realms of EverQuest. They need not have worried; Dark Alliance 2 is a worthy successor, retaining the weapons, monsters, Dungeons and Dragons action and rules, sharp graphics, responsive controls, and high adventure of its predecessor.

The plot is a bit darker this time, but you're given a wider range of character classes to help face the elevated threats. There's the mighty barbarian, a dwarf rogue, a cleric, the monk (a martial artist), and a necromancer. The quest is huge and there are character-class specific side quests you can embark on--an extra incentive to play again as a different character. The level design tends to be a little too maze-like, and there's lots of boring backtracking, but the annoying jumping puzzles from the first game are gone.

The biggest problem with Dark Alliance 2 is that it doesn't measure up to the competition. It's a 2-player game, while Dungeons & Dragons Heroes (on the Xbox) and Champions of Norrath (on the PS2 and Xbox) allow four-player play. Then again if you plan to play solo, or with a single friend, that shouldn't keep you from coming to the city of Baldur's Gate's aid once again. --Andrew Bub ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance 2
I really enjoyed this game.I have it for the Xbox and the graphics are well above average. This installment was much harder than the first and longer too. There are 5 characters to choose from ranging from the necromancer to the barbarian. The adventure is fairly long ranging from 7-12 hours depending on if you get everything.Another great feature is that each character has his or her own side quest which you can complete which will help rack up the experience points.I think the best adition to this game is the ablility to create and customize your equipment with magical gems you find. They gems all give you special ablilites and you can tweak it to fit your character perfectly. You can also play with a friend witch adds great replay value to the game.Overall it is a solid RPG that isn't hard to get into but may dissapoint hardcore RPG fans. I give it 4 out of 5.

5-0 out of 5 stars Return to Baldur's Gate.
DARK ALLIANCE: BALDUR'S GATE 2 has a plot that begins fairly soon after the end of the original BALDUR'S GATE video game. At the end of the original BALDUR'S GATE the three heroes found themselves surrounded by giant black creatures after jumping through the "last" remaining gateway portal. The game begins with your character on the outskirts of a village being asked to help a group of travelers who were attacked by orcs. The first stage of the game is more of a prologue and it takes a little while before actually reaching the city of Baldur's Gate. Visiting an inn (one different from the first game), your character is able to talk to some people and begin going on certain quests. Ultimately, your character is to rescue the three adventurers from the first game and defeat the vampire lord.

I really enjoyed playing DARK ALLIANCE. I like action-adventure type of games and tend to play them more because of the story rather than their difficulty. I found DARK ALLIANCE to be a bit more difficult than BALDUR'S GATE. There are a couple of really tough bosses (especially the octopus-face lady in the caves beneath the one castle) which require some critical thinking and strategy to defeat.

There are a few changes in DARK ALLIANCE from BALDUR'S GATE. The player has 5 characters to choose from instead of 3. Though the game is pretty much the same no matter which character you choose, there are side quests that only each character can partake. There are also some characters in the game who won't talk to certain characters.Like the first game, each of the five characters has their own special skills and talents. Personally I liked the dwarf rogue the best because he's able to carry the most loot and has this nifty ability of being able to automatically able to disarm all traps. Another change in the game is the ability to modify weapons into special magical weapons, but it costs a lot of money and jewels to make anything really worthwhile.Another difference is that characters who shoot arrows don't have to constantly buy those arrows; once you have a bow, it remains armed all the time. This saves on both money and the amount of weight being carried around. Some of the levels are the same as in BALDUR'S GATE, but there are many more new ones. The game also takes much longer to beat. Once beating the game, an extreme mode opens up in which you can take your character from the end of your first game and start over at the beginning of the game, but with everything being extremely difficult to kill. If you choose to play extreme mode, your character keeps his experience and levels, but looses all possessions. It's fun to try, but very hard to beat some of the bosses in this mode.

Overall, I found DARK ALLIANCE to be a fun game and a good sequel to BALDUR'S GATE. Expert gamers will be bored by it, but most anyone else who likes action-adventure/role play games will probably enjoy it. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars I wanted to like this....
but..nah. Well to be fair the game isn't that bad, it would be a really good game if the Story mode was more interesting and more fun, and not required to unlock the rest of the characters...and if 3rd person melee mode wasn't a requirement, but a choice...and if fatalities from mortal kombat weren't included (the hell?)

You know where I have the most fun? Doing things I did in the original Unreal Tournament. The deathmatches..capture the flag...etc. And I have to turn off some of the new features just to enjoy the game which leads me to think that too much new crap was added. It just seems over complicated, and seems not to know what kind of game it wants to be. Sometimes less is more.

I will say that the graphics and sound is superb, and you can indeed have a lot of fun with this playing against others. I would rent before buying.

5-0 out of 5 stars awesome...
UC2 is a very sophisticated shooter... what do i mean by sophisticated?

- balanced gameplay: this is THE FIRST shooter to incorporate melee combat in a way that you can actually beat a guy carrying a rocket launcher (or even a sniper rifle!) with your sword... u need to play it to believe it!!

- balanced weapons: ever tried using ure assault rifle against a shotgun/rocket launcher carrying player in halo2? its one sided and hopeless... not so in UC2. Every weapon is potent, though you might need to change your tactics to get the full mileage out of it...

- multiple characters - there are 3 categories of characters - high strength/low mobility, medium strength/medium mobility and low strength/high mob. The way you play the game will change based on the character you choose. You will need to adopt different tactics based on the strengths & weaknesses of the character...

- 3rd person to 1st person toggle - for one-on-one shooting match the 1st person view is better while for high mobility melee combat the 3rd person view is better - and you can switch on the fly...

perhaps the low ratings given by other reviewrs is because this game has a steeper learning curve than normal shooters... it takes time to explore the multitude of options available to you...plus tactics need to be changed based on the type of character/weapon/map you choose. The good thing about this is that the replayability of the game increases.

overall one of the best shooters for xbox....if you have any interest in tournament shooters - just buy UC2.

4-0 out of 5 stars online is fun
First off, let me just say that the only reason I'm giving this game a 4 out of 5 is only because of the online portion of this game. The single player in this game sucks. I beat it in less than 5 hours.Online is a different story. It has a variety of different game modes, and it is just more fun to play people than the stupid computer. If you don't have xbox-live, then DON'T get this game. If you do, get it because you will have a lot of fun. Single Player= 2.5because it has good graphics. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars PREDATOR : CONCRETE BUNGLES
PLAYSTATION 2: This review is mostly for fans of the Predator franchise and not particularly to hardcore gamers who find this stuff a breeze. I bought this because a few people said there was a roaming feature which I wanted to just wizz away the time with one of my favorite monsters. I'm not a serious gamer, so I had hoped this sucker would be fun yet still challenging on easy/'unblooded' on the game. HELLO creators...some of us don't want to make a career out of playing these things, we just want to have a little fun, thank you very not. Anyhow, I can't seem to find a roaming feature yet...lol. But lotsa frustration came free of charge.

...Casual gamers take note. I'm literally stuck towards the last quarter of levels at "Ten Thousand Ways To Die" right before the you're sposed to kill the Hooker Boss Lady (Yes, you heard right)....where you start off with full health & energy and *some* weapons. But must progress through, oh five-ish sub-levels with mobs of soldiers with devastating firepower....Police Craft and hidden rocket launching Soldiers shooting at you on each....with only ONE power up(that I've been able to find so far before dying) and near impossible weapons upgrades that you can get to (tucked high up or near a pack of soldiers) if you plan your strategy right...if not...you get mobbed by bullets and die rather quickly. You'll find it takes little firepower from your enemies to bring you down. And as an added frustration: Your enemies many times when it's crucial, can see you WITH your Stealth camo on. That, plus it takes YOU...the Predator, what seems an INSANE amount of wacks to kill your opponents (those who watch the movies will quickly see *this* aspect is nearly ridiculous)...and this doesn't include the Bosses (remember: attack from behind;-)...plus your weapons are useless at the worst times. For example...you can shove your spear thru a person twice, whack them a few times with your arm blades, they'll fall and will soon get up (so don't walk off from Prey until their blip disappears or you'll be sorry). In many instances I'd wonderedwhy the creators of this game made the Predator this weak in comparison to foes. For the challenge, I spose...but sometimes it seemed a bit overkill and really not fun after awhile. Really. And there's NO checkpoints...I haven't seen one yet through this game (nor can you save til a level completes). Plan on redoing a number of levels several times until you figure out how they're laid out. You'll need to especially take note of where the cameras are you're trying to avoid or you'll be redoing things quite often...so get used tousing the green colored visor sensor thingy often or else...lol
On a good note...some levels are remarkably easy. Seriously....you'll be saying...'uh...that's it?' Then proceed onto the next level and be stuck there until you're ready to smash the disc into pieces (which is why I gave up for today and decided to write this review:-)
DIALOGUE: At some point your going to think some of the lines are incredibly stupid the fifteenth time around...wait til you here "Sacrifice my Bruddah" over and over in the Voodoo Posse part. You'll be repeating it in your sleep. In theOld Church-Goth-Punk-Concert level (yes, again, you heard right), wait til you hear the Boss dudes endlessly try their best Trent Reznor/Marilyn Manson lines on you. You'll be wanting to 'Kill the Pain (or whatever those lame laments were)" and slit *someone's* wrists if you don't die laughing first. The biggest beef with the dialogue is the amount of profanity. I have no problem with cussing. But on the Hooker/Porno Star-weapons dealer level (Yes...I'm not lying)....I think the schoolgirl looking gunwomen said f** more times than I've said it in my life! And that's pretty impressive cuz me and the F' word are nearly married.
TIMED MISSIONS: Oh...forgot about those. I also forgot about the jumping. Yes...jump around, jump around, jump up and up to get down . Really....it's endless. And I thought American McGee's Alice wasa pain. PCJ makes her jumps seem like hopscotch. Remember: If you find you can't figure out where to go...look up...you'll probably hafta jump to get there (*if* you can see...yes...it's also a dark game...lol). If you like lotsa jumping, this is for you. If you're looking for lotsa combat....well...if you like to jump lots to engage in combat...this is for you.
Well...this sounds like such a ragfest on this game. But I like alot of it, but think it's so inconsistant. With no checkpoints, the levels just drag insanely, though many times you can breeze quickly thru them once they're mentally mapped out. The graphics are gorgeous by the way. The cutscenes are very well done. The Pred never looked better in a game. If you were looking for more free roaming/killing/hunting (the timed Bonus 'Rituals' don't count, as those are basically dash here/dash there before time runs out), then be warned. It's pretty linear so far.
OVERALL: Beautiful looking game. Some levels too easy. Some too hard and too long. And I haven't found a level yet that I'm just dying to replay. Which is sad for a Pred game......but I've replayed Return Of The King and Two Towers mega times....but all this jumping junk just seems to outweigh the combat options so far (Hello creators....Preds don't just jump and stalk for days.....eeeergh!) So dunno once done, how much replay value *this* bugger will have.
So that's it. If you've read this entire manifesto, I hope it's helped.

5-0 out of 5 stars DUDE, it's awesome!
Being a huge predator fan, I found out everything I could about this game. The game follows you from 1930 through 2030. You hunt the mafia because they try to expose your race and start a universal war.The game brings all the old and new weapons and vision modes. But, since the game is in 3rd person, I don't know how you use them.

5-0 out of 5 stars it looks awwwsome !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

4-0 out of 5 stars Pretty Good Game
I purchased Yourself Fitness this January after my son got an x-box for Christmas.Overall a good fitness video game, but I do have a few problems with it.The trainer asks you what home equipment you have - and I don't have a step - but her cardio routines seem to be suited for the step.I do find most of her cardio warmups somewhat repetative and boring. She should work in some kickboxing type moves to get your heart rate up, but instead it is a lot of marching and side stepping.

The second issue is the whole rewards thing.I use this video to supplement my routine- it is not my regular thing.I have done many, many workouts, but because I don't schedule them I have never gotten a new workout space or new music. It would have been nice if you could have chosen a way to earn your rewards. So a good game if you use the whole package, not so great if you are looking for a supplemental video.

5-0 out of 5 stars Meet Maya your personal Trainer!!
I've been using this game for almost four months now and have completed 60 workouts.(...)

As I'm always looking for something to inspire me to exercise it didn't take me long to come across this little gem. Yourself!Fitness is an Xbox "game" geared towards physical fitness. You are introduced to Maya who will be your personal trainer.

Maya starts you off by having you do a physical assessment where you are taken through a series of exercises and your resting and elevated heart rates are measured. You put in your height, weight and sex and from there Maya will customize a workout plan for you. Based on what your results are Maya will recommend a goal for you such as Weight Loss, cardio and other selections.

If you own hand weights, a balance ball or stepper, Maya can also incorporate those into your workout as well but you don't need to have those things to do it.

Y!F lets you set up a calendar to record when you want to exercise and for how long each session. For your initial fitness evaluation, Maya will recommend to you a weekly schedule but you can customize that for yourself. For instance, Maya recommended weight loss for me and had me scheduled every other day for 15 minutes to start. I am very overweight and I think "she" didn't want me to overdo it in the beginning. But I thought I could handle more and I adjusted the calendar to add in some 30 minute workouts. I'm entering my third week of workouts and have been doing five to six workouts a week at 30 minutes each.

Each time you go to workout, you are greeted by Maya. Maya will ask you how you are feeling. You are giving three options for an answer. Paraphrasing here but here is an example: A. Nothing can stop me, B. Feeling okay today and C. You're lucky I'm here!

Now, based on your answer, Maya will set the intensity of the workout before you even start. As you are working out, Maya will again ask you how you are doing. You can than chose if you think the workout has been too hard or too easy and Maya will then adjust accordingly.

This is so much better than a dvd or video just for the above mentioned customization but there is also some more neat things. Like you can zoom the camera in and out and pan all around Maya to get a better look at how she is doing the exercises. There is also a tutorial that you can exit out of the workout and you get more detailed instructions on how to do the workout. When you are ready you can rejoin Maya! There are different work out settings and music to chose from so less chance of getting bored.

Each day, when you start your program, Maya will suggest a daily focus - Weight loss, Cardio, Upper body, Lower Body and Flexibility. She varies these so you aren't doing the same thing over and over again. Weight loss is my main goal but I do the other workouts too and they are geared more to help me lose weight. You have a warming up period in the beginning and then you do the targeted workout for the day and a few minutes of stretching near the end.

Y!F also has a "Meditation Garden". This is a "place" to go and do yoga exercises. I haven't tried this part out yet but others have really enjoyed it.

There is also a reward system. After you've completed three scheduled workouts, Maya will reward you with some bronze dumbbells, a new location and a new music choice. There are two more sets of dumbbells to earn after this and more locations and music to unlock.

The workouts use Yoga, Pilates, Cardio, Strength training, and flexibility exercises.

After a set amount of workouts, Maya will have you do another Physical Assessment to see how far you've progressed.

There is also a great support system at the Yourself!Fitness website where you can keep an open journal where other members can encourage you and you encourage them.

There isn't much negative I can say about this except maybe a better selection of music or music you can download into it would be nice.

The graphics for Maya are excellent! She looks almost like a real person and moves pretty realistically too. Sometimes her arms look a little funny or she seems to be floating a bit but other than that, she looks great. The background graphics could be a little better but maybe the next version will address that.

I own a ton of exercise videos, dvds and very expensive exercise equipment that I just don't use. I'm starting my third week with this and I feel almost addicted to the program. There's something about being greeted and asked how you are doing or being told you're doing a great job meeting your commitments. It also keeps you on your toes not knowing exactly what to expect because each workout is different. There are over 500 exercises and Maya usually adds one to two each workout.

There is also a meal plan for those who are looking for that sort of help. I haven't done the meal plan but folks on the Y!F website who have really like it. You can download recipes from the website that you will find on the game.

This also comes in a PC version and a Playstation 2 version as well.

I highly recommend this for anyone looking for a home fitness routine.

1-0 out of 5 stars Only rented it and I still feel cheated
Wow.The intro movie got me excited.Neat robots with guns mounted in their foreheads. And then there's the gameplay. It's been said in other reviews--room after room of boxes and opponents.I can't remember playing such an un-fun game.Too bad, as it's one of the only true originals for PSP.Avoid at all costs.

1-0 out of 5 stars What a let down..instant trade in...stay away
Ok here it is, I was anticipating this game b/c the description was very cool but unfortunatly that is all thats cool about it. First off you have to use the D- pad to control your character when the joystick would have been alot easier to use. The controls are horrible. From the first screen there were lost pixels and glitches. All the rooms look exactly alike except there might be a few more crates in one then the other. Anyways you cant save whenever you want and if you die you lose all your weapons that you picked up so you have to fight hand to whatever weapon your enemy has wich is very unfair. Anyways long story short...DO NOT BUY THIS GAME... I did and am going to get pissed when I go back to trade it in when all they will give me is 10 bucks after I wasted 40 on it.

5-0 out of 5 stars Simply awesome
The game is just awesome, kicking android but, shooting fire off a gun and other weapons. The graphics are hot and the gameplay is beautiful. This game is about an android locked in a tower, what you have to do is find new weapons,up-grade old weapons, kill all enemys and get to the top of the tower, the android walks a little weird but that doesnt matter. The best is,you can play multi-player,I dont know if you get to choose different androids in story mode, but in multi, you get to choose different androids with different equipment. The game is just plain awesome. If you need any help with games or PSP games you can contact me to jeancarlo@libertypr.net ... Editorial Review

The Legend of Zelda series practically defined adventure gaming for an entire generation. Link, the hero of the adventure games, delighted millions by starring in games for each Nintendo console from the NES and Super NES to the Nintendo 64. Link brings this beloved franchise to the Nintendo GameCube in The Legend Of Zelda: The Wind Waker, and he's more animated than ever.

The first thing you'll notice about The Legend Of Zelda: The Wind Waker is that it looks completely different from any previous title in the franchise. Nintendo has opted to use cel-shading technology on Wind Waker; the result is that the game looks like a cartoon. Die-hard Zelda purists initially howled at this change, arguing that the game skews too young. I think it's fantastic. The cartoon animation style allows for better expression of the characters, and several of the animations--like Link trying to pick up an object that's too heavy--are so cute that you can't help but laugh a little.

The second thing you’ll notice is a focus on wind. Instead of trotting around on foot, Link travels from island to island on a talking boat, but he doesn't get far without the wind blowing in right direction. Luckily, you'll learn how to change the direction of the wind early in the game, and you'll do so frequently--not only to power your boat but also to solve puzzles. Clever use of wind makes Wind Waker stand out from more conventional adventure games.

The third thing you’ll notice is that the game is just plain fun. Puzzles are innovative and refreshing, and despite some tricky puzzles, I never felt too frustrated to keep playing. The locales you'll visit are invariably exotic and fun to explore, and the host of bizarre creatures you'll encounter (friendly and otherwise) are always a kick in the pants. Moreover, though the look is radically different, Wind Waker feels like a classic Zelda game. Veterans of the early games in the franchise will experience more than a bit of nostalgia while playing it.

The Legend Of Zelda: The Wind Waker is everything you've come to expect from a Zelda game, and it's one of the best adventure games to date. This is a must-have title for any GameCube owner. --Jon "Safety Monkey" Grover

Pros:

  • New cel-shaded animation looks great
  • Puzzles and characters are a lot of fun
  • There's a special place in the heart of any gamer who's ever owned a Nintendo console, and that place is shaped like a Triforce

Cons:

  • Some Zelda purists may be turned off by the cartoon look

5-0 out of 5 stars BEST ZELDA GAME YET!!!
oh first of all im not under 13.Anyway Link is back for another adventure...this one is the best adventure yet.The cell shaded graphics are awesome, some say they they suck, but i think they are pretty cool. The gameplay is really fun you can do all sorts of stuff...but the bad thing is when you get your little boat that talks(i forgot the name)it just takes forever to go around the great sea on it.The audio is similar to the old zelda games some is new though. Now the game starts off when its links 12th birthday his sister wakes him up when he is asleep on the villages tower thingy, she tells him to go talk to his grandma and she gives him his green tunic. After that you will see find your sister she gives you a present...i dont want to tell what...but anyway i dont want to tell anymore secrets. You will have to find them out yourself.i reccomend this game to people who enjoyed any Zelda game before....or if you hated them, give this one a shot.Or if you havent even played one this one will make you want to keep playing.

5-0 out of 5 stars Hours and hours of fun!
Firstly let me state that I have never before played another Zelda game. I just never got into them; I was a Mario girl.

That said, ZELDA AND THE WIND WAKER is phenomenal. My younger sister got it as a present and she let me play when she wasn't playing it. As soon as I got up and left for college I needed my own.

Link is adorable. His facial expressions are entertaining. All the characters are great; there's such a variety that you'll just keep on Ooohing and Aaahing at the screen, impressed at the creativity.

The fighting/action is difficult but not too much so. I've played games before that I would get so mad at that I would have to leave and come back to them... much, much later. Zelda provided no such frustration, but as I said before, it wasn't so easy that I zipped straight through it and was not challenged.

The storyline is interesting. The sailing, contrary to what some other people may have said, is not tedious. In fact, I did quite a bit of exploring just for fun while I was on my way to other places.

My sister and I spent hours and hours playing this game. In fact, I would even pick it up and play it all over again from the beginning if I had the time.

3-0 out of 5 stars Good, but below the bar set by Ocarina of Time
The Wind Waker was a risk for Nintendo.Besides the obvious difference in graphics due to new cel-shading techniques, they mostly scrapped the core storyline of previous Zelda games and added a different, lighthearted feel to the classic series.

Did it work?Mostly. But the flaws in the game come not from the decision to use cartoon graphics or to move away from the old Zelda storyline, but in the game's execution as a whole.First, however, we must look at the most obvious change: the cel-shaded graphics.Though the decision to use cel-shading created outrage among hardcore Zelda fans, it was actually done quite well; the animation compliments the light nature of the plot.Though a disappointment for some, these cel-shaded graphics are technically very good and certainly show off the capabilities of the Gamecube.

The plot, too, is very different from the previous games, most of which (including the amazing N64 installment, Ocarina of Time) were set in Hyrule. In Wind Waker, the setting is on various islands in the Great Sea hundreds of years in the future... though as the story progresses, it turns out that the story is not as detached from previous games as one is initially led to believe. The shift was a bold move, but was well done as a whole because of the strong ties to games such as Ocarina of Time, which created a sense of nostalgia for longtime Zelda fans.Just as important are the new gamers who will find the plot of Wind Waker to be independent enough to enjoy without any prior Zelda knowledge.

That said, the major problem with this game lies in the gameplay itself.Though various innovations were successfully added to the user interface and controls (the slick counter-attack move, for example), one can't help but notice that many of the tasks given to Link are trivial at best and downright boring at worst.Take, for example, sailing, which is Link's primary method of transportation between islands. It takes forever and requires little interaction; I frequently would set the sail's direction and leave the controller on the ground to go get a snack.Beastly sea-monsters are not all that common, and only serve as a nuisance instead of a challenge while sailing.Additionally, Link is required to go on a kind of fishing expedition at the end of the game that is seriously tedious, frightfully boring, and takes lots of time with no challenge at all. Finally, combat is smooth but easy; death by combat is quite rare for all but the most novice of players.

The Wind Waker was a brave attempt at a new direction for the Zelda series, and the new direction works, for the most part. However, flaws in the gameplay itself seriously distract from the intricate plots that define the Zelda series and make The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker a less-than-stellar addition to the classic Nintendo series.

Editorial Review

Pokémon Sapphire's updated graphics with weather effects, amazing sound, more than 200 Pokémon with over 100 new species--as well as its faithful adherence to the existing series of Pokémon games--makes for a welcome evolution in the series.

First, the game has a lot in common with Pokémon games Silver, Gold, and Crystal. For example, players can choose to be a boy or a girl trainer, an internal clock sets events at certain times, and the game's handy-dandy Pokédex helps players keep track of the many stats. You're main goal is still to beat all the Gym Trainers and become the Pokémon Master. If you've played the old games, you will be right at home. But not all is the same.

The most obvious change is in the battles themselves. Now that two Pokémon can fight on your side at the same time, you can tag-team them against an enemy by taking advantage of the strengths of your Pokémons while covering their weaknesses. For example, you can now have a water Pokémon watch your fire Pokémon's back. You can also attack more than one Pokémon at a time.

A whole new element to the game focuses on how berries are used in battle. And if you collect enough berries, you can take them to a Berry Blender and make a PokéBlock, which is a little super-charged candy that raises your Pokémon's "Condition" attributes. You can then groom your Pokémon for regional contests and compete for ribbons like "Best of Show," which will unlock additional contests. There's even strategy in how to best use your berries: pick too many and the berry tree will disappear; plant berries, though, and a tree will grow. You can also build a Secret Base in special areas of the game, which you can decorate just like you can your room.

And let us not forget that Pokémon Sapphire has a kickin' multiplayer system, too. You can trade Pokémon, and link up to four players for incredible battles. The only downside is that you can't link up with the old Game Boy Color games. --Bryan Karsh

Pros:

  • You can control two Pokémon in battle
  • Much needed graphic and sound facelift

2-0 out of 5 stars Not a good choice for younger kids
My 4 yr old is crazy about The Incredibles and counted the days until his Incredibles game arrived in the mail. It was very disappointing. It is a lot of punching and being shot at and that's about it. Since The Incredibles appeal to a very large and young audience (and I know older folks too). I really thought the game would be more appropriate for younger children. It's not. My son loves Zelda, Urbz, and Mario Kart but unfortunatelythis was a waste
