Editorial Review

Busy babies love exploring with all of their senses, and thiscrib activity toy offers lots to see, hear, and feel. The sturdy,hard-plastic base attaches easily to a crib or play yard railing with twosimple plastic clips. Four different shapes hang from the base on shortcords, and when babies grasp one and pull--surprise!--they hear asqueak, jingle bell, or rattle. Three of the shapes also cause pieceson the base unit to move. One end of the toy has a wheel that turnswith a clicking sound, and inside the wheel is a little spinninghourglass filled with tiny beads. This is a toy full of fun andlearning potential. --Marcie Bovetz ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Finally-a noisemaker that doesn't require batteries!
I love this toy, but more importantly, so does my 7 month old daughter. It is the perfect toy for her Pack-n-Play.She likes to stand up in it and look over the side, so this gives her something to stand up and play with.I wanted to look at it in the store before I bought it, but couldn't find it.I decided to go ahead and order it online, they have a great return policy. My daughter loves it.We took it with us recently when we went out of town. She had to sleep in the Pack-n-Play in the hotel room, so this made her feel at home. This is a very fun toy that has lots of interesting features.

4-0 out of 5 stars No batteries required!
I bought this toy along with two other hanging crib toys to keep my son entertained in the crib so I could sleep a bit later. It is the only one of the three that doesn't require batteries - which is unusual and refreshing. The activities are fairly basic yet engaging. Each of the strings has a different shape plastic pull. One is a ball with a bell inside that catches my son's attention quite frequently. The hourglass makes a satisfying clicking noise as it spins.I like that it is so easy to hang and remove so that I can use it on the side of the crib that goes up and down.I haven't had any problem with breakage or sticker removal (yet) but it does seem that the crib "hooks" will probably break at some point since I'm pretty rough on them when I yank the toy off.All in all, I'm happy that I bought it.

1-0 out of 5 stars clip and play
This item seemed to be ideal for a baby who would be in a playpen for any length of time. However when it arrived I noticed that it was not very well made. There were strings handing down and I thought it was way to advanced for a six month old child. It just didnt seem that it would stay together. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars For the Kid in every Adult
I bought this for a 1-year olds birthday about 7 years ago.My husband spent the month before the party, pulling the string. He was sad when I took it to the birthday girl.I looked high and low for another one for him. After about 8 months, I again found it.He loves it. It is such a stress buster as you simply gotta smile when you hear the Quack, quack, quack.

When my aunt and cousin (both adults) came to visit, they too fell in love with it.Unfortunately the store I had found it at was out again. This was 3 years ago.I found it again today and bought both the store had left.I plan to get some additional ones to have on hand.

I truly believe that every adult needs to "feed" the kid in him/her.So, if you think this toy is only for children 10 months - 5 years, think again.

5-0 out of 5 stars So popular
Who can understand the minds of children? I have 2 daugthers 4.5 and 2 years old. This toy has been a special favourite of theirs for quite some time. We only have one of it, so it has been an endless reason for crying and screaming because of its popularity. Both my wife and I are amazed that such a simple toy presents our girls with such seemingly endless joy and play. Yeah, the sounds get to you after a while, but they are certainly not the most annoying I have ever heard in a toy.

4-0 out of 5 stars I had it for both of my kids 6 and 1
It is a cute toy, when your child starts to walk they can learn how to pull it them selves. My 2nd child has been a crier, and I could pull it around and NO more crying. It is cute to pull around for your child and let them watch the ducks waddle. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Annoying for parents, ok for babies
This shape sorter needs a volume control and an off switch. The only reason that I gave it 3 stars is that my 10 month old son likes it, but it is very annoying for parents. He pushes the botton on top that lights up and says "Shapes Colors Animals" in a loud voice. He also likes the size of the blocks to chew on.However the animal images on the blocks are coming off as he scrapes his teeth on them.I thought that the shapes would fall inside the shell like an old fashioned shape sorter, but they only go half way into the shell. It is hard for me to get them into place, so I imagine that it will be hard for my son when he gets older, too.The turtle is cute and seems to be surviving getting beaten, drooled on and stepped on.

1-0 out of 5 stars Don't bother
My 9 month old started to cry the first few times we played with this toy, because it is so LOUD.Once she got used to it, she just pressed the top star over and over, and then I cried because it was so ANNOYING. Not one of our favorites.

2-0 out of 5 stars Extremely annoying
My mother bought this for my son and, after just a few days, the thing was grating on my nerves. My son quickly learned that he could simply push the big yellow button on the top and get a big reward of music and lights (while I get a headache from the same words and song over and over). He has no interest in putting the shapes in their places, in fact, when a shape is put in place, the toy just states what it is with no music. The button on top is way more fun to push.<br /><br /> This may have been easier to take, but the toy is also VERY loud with no volume control or on/off switch other than taking the batteries out.<br /><br /> In theory it is a great idea - teaching colors, shapes, and animals - but kids are not encouraged to put the shapes in the appropriate slots since they get an easier reward by just pushing the big button. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars SO much fun!
I love this puppet- it makes for a great way to interact with baby and it ever teaches Spanish. What a great gift it was!

1-0 out of 5 stars Very disappointing
We got this cow for our daughter's first birthday. She loves the Baby Einstein videos. The cow's voice sounds very odd and robotic. It doesn't have any stuffing in the middle so it's just a flat puppet that she can't play with unless someone is operating it for her.

4-0 out of 5 stars Senior Baca Speaks Spanish
The reason I got this toy was to have some sort of spanish speaking toy. I am teaching my child to be bi-lingual, and want toys that will assist.

This is a pretty cool toy. I just wish that the mouth of the puppet was a little more operable than it is. It doesn't open much and is a little hard to grip. We still like it though, and I still would have bought it if I knew. ... Read more

"I know My Letters" AND "I know My Numbers" are the best books of the four out right now for the PT Baby!!! ***This one is our favorite***

The pages are way stronger than the reg. PT books for the older kids. These pages are coated and are thicker and more durable. The pages have texture on some of the pictures too and the picture talk and/or make sounds as well.

This book is a must have for your PT Baby. Enjoy!!! ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars decent driving toy
I bought my son this driver when he was about 7 months old.At first he loved it.It makes all sorts of entertaining sounds for a baby. His favorites were the shifting sounds which he could easily activate (by moving the gear shift). He also loved the radio button especially when it played "Are you driving" (it is the brother john tune). While my son loved the noises this thing makes, I find that they can get very annoying, especially since the low volume is very loud.

After a few months, my son lost interest in this toy.He still plays with it occasionally, but it is no longer a favorite. At almost a year, he still never actually "drove" the toy.Perhaps once he learns to do this, he will regain interest in it.When the wheel is turned, the rollers spin. When they stop, the toy says one of three phrases about the pictures that show up.For example, "green square", "two bees" or "b is for bee" is said when the roller shows a picture with two bees and a green square. This could be educational once my son gets a little older.

One thing my son did learn to do pretty quickly was turn the toy on and off.The switch is sort of like a key in the ignition. It is very securely attatched though.I like that it is easy to turn so that my son can work it by himself. Most toys I have to start for him.Overall, I think I got my moneys worth.$15 dollars is a decent price for a few months of daily entertainment, even if my son never takes to it again. ... My husband found this toy at a garage sale.I thought it was a little much for our newborn but I turned out to be wrong! He LOVES to just stare at the clown face. Many times when he has been upset we put this toy in front of him and he stops crying and is fascinated with it.The crying stops.I would definitely recommend this toy!

5-0 out of 5 stars Fantastic toy
My daughter has spent hours with this toy. Each side has different fabrics, shapes and sizes. It has some small plastic loops that are especiallly yummie on those teething gums.
One side has a small mirror. Its fun to watch her watching herself. I've washed it many times and let it hang dry.It comes out perfect everytime. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Lots of stuff to learn!
I like the whole left brain/right brain approach to this line of toys, so I bought this one for the left, and the Music Maker for the right. This one can teach colors, shapes, and numbers all in one toy.Plus, it's a book, so it encourages reading. The only flaws I see so far are that the light-up sun gets covered more with each page turn, and that the "narration" doesn't go in page order. However, this might actually be a good thing, since it would test the child on focusing on the shapes themselves, rather than just memorizing the sequence. Also, if you are going to read the actual printed text to your baby, turn the sound off -- otherwise it will "talk" over your reading.

5-0 out of 5 stars A fun educational toy for all babies

4-0 out of 5 stars A good first stacker
We received this as a gift when my baby was almost 4 months old. She started being interested in it when she was about 5 months old. She would be very attentive with the tiny antennae and felt "feathers" on the tops of the heads and use a pincer grasp to try to take hold of them. The little strips of ribbon were also of interest to her, much like tags or labels on any toy. The rings on which to hook the links were great for her to grab, and the jingling noises made it more stimulating. She hasn't figured out the stacking part of it as she is now only 8 months old, but for now, the stacking makes the toy neater to put away for the day. At least she still plays with it. The two links were nice to add to her small collection of links as well. This softer stacker is a great start for an infant, unlike many wood stackers which are usually recommended for toddlers 18 months and older. However, it would have been nice to have one ring w/o a head on it so that she had one level that was a simple donut for a bit of variety. But then again, how would they stack w/o the head? I would say that this stacker will probably not make it on the favorite toy list for most infants, but it does hold their interest to a reasonable degree.

5-0 out of 5 stars Love the Link a doos
Just like all the other Link a doos this is so cute. When I bought this I was not really expecting what I got . It was much better than I thought it was going to be. It is better than the picture shows, I think. My baby loves playing with these. It is a real good deal, not to expensive like a lot of toys are.I would recomend this as a baby toy for anyone with a baby.

4-0 out of 5 stars good toy
I got this item as a gift and my daughter loves it!I was not to sure that she would be interested in it, but she plays with it all the time. The links make it easy for her to grab and unstack them. She likes looking at the faces and grabbing the hair on top of them. She also seems interested in the plaid pattern on each of them.I was plesently surprised by this toy. ... Editorial Review

This 5-inch-square musical jack-in-the-box--in bright blue, red, yellow, and green--packs a lot of surprises. Hold the easy-grip handle, wind the crank (the round knob makes it easy for little fingers to grab), and it plays "This Old Man." A smiling clown pops up at unpredictable intervals and can be pushed back down easily. As if that weren't entertainment enough, there's a yellow button on one side of the box that squeaks when you push it and a yellow star on the other side that clicks when you turn it. Turn the whole toy upside down so your little tyke can find her own smiling face in the safety mirror. Made of plastic; easy to clean. --Elisabeth Fredrickson ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Still havin' fun!
I bought this toy USED for my son when he was one year old; it was in perfect working condition. He loved the surprise of the clown popping out of the box!He also peeked at himself in the mirror, "beeped" the horn, and spun the clicking star. The handle made it easy for him to pick up and bring to us when he wanted to see the clown pop out. Now, he is two, and it is still a big hit because he is finally able to operate the entire toy by himself. It has been over a year since we bought it (second hand!), and it is still in perfect working condition.I would recommend this to any mom who is looking for a first jack in the box for her baby or toddler--the most ideal time to teach cause and effect.

1-0 out of 5 stars Poor mechanics
We have owned this Jack in the box for about a month and a half. The music has already stopped working and we didn't even play with it on a daily basis, much less on a weekly basis.I wouldn't recommend this toy.

1-0 out of 5 stars VERY DANGEROUS TOY!!!!!!!!My daughter got hurt!
We were given this toy as a gift, and at first I was very excited about all the different things it is able to do...until my daughter got hurt! The pig on this toy sits on a swing and swings back and forth. My daughter was playing with it and started to cry!Her fingers got stuck where the pig swings.I honestly figured it was just a fluke, but decided to hold off on letting her play with it until she was a bit older. At 13 months I brought the toy back out and let her play with it again.A few days later her hand got so stuck where the pig swings and I couldn't get it out!!!She was hysterical, and it took quite a bit of wiggling to get her little hand free. Her fingers where very red and she cried and cried!I am so lucky it wasn't a serious injury.PLEASE DO NOT BUY THIS TOY!It is now in the trash, where it belongs!

2-0 out of 5 stars ANNOYING AND UNSAFE, IN MY OPINION
My 11 and 23 month old kept getting thier fingers stuck under the swinging pig door. The space is large enough to fit a small finger under and it's not easy to get out! I let it slide the first time it happened to my 11 month old, but when it happened to my 23 month old and continued happening, I put it away. Each of them would panic and scream bloody murder because they couldn't remove their fingers! How much fun is that??Also, the person who sings is REALLY annoying and off key.Not a very good design.

4-0 out of 5 stars High Quality toy for young infants
Yes, I agree with the other reviews saying that the guy who sings "old mcdonald" is off-key, but it really doesn't bother me too much, as there are many other songs to "choose" from. The sound quality of the music is quite good (doesn't sound "tin-y") and the flashing light on the sun is attention grabbing. The buttons are smooth and easy to press. It's a great toy for both babies who are learning to roll to their side, and those who are sitting up. It's a great audio-visual stimulating toy, however there's not much of a fine motor challenge beyond pressing buttons and flipping some switches (ie. there's no knob turning, or lever sliding, or shape-sorting, etc..). I would definitely buy this toy again. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars $35?? wow!
I rec'd this as a baby shower gift, and am very suprised to find it's retail is $35!I do have an older version (no music) but, my son is now 18 mo and still loves "reading" his book before bed.So worth it none the less.

3-0 out of 5 stars Cute but Not worth 35 dollars!!!
We got this book at our baby shower. It is a soft cloth book with a zipper to close it and keep peices inside. My daughter is almost two now and she plays with it on occasion. Using a small stuffed bear you go through the bed time routine. Glass of milk, bath, brush teeth, say your prayers, kiss goodnight etc. I really wish the book had a cord to attach all the small pieces to it. We lost the carton of milk and the soap. The toothbrush is attached by a cord but I noticed it fraying. The toothbrush is really the only part of it she uses. Which has been helpful in getting her brush back and forth instead of just chewing.

I really never thought about this toy much until I was browsing amazon for toys and I saw that it cost THIRTY FIVE dollars!! There is no way that it is worth that much money. Buy your kid 6 or 7 board books instead.

3-0 out of 5 stars Not worth the price...
Because of the rave reviews I ordered this book for my daughters 1st Birthday. When I received the book I opened it up before wrapping it because I was so excited! I was very disappointed!First of all the teddy bear is supposed to play lullaby's...When I pushed the tummy it sounded like one of those awful hallmark buttons, you know, the ones that play your favorite anthem, happy birthday, etc. Then it died and made these popping and buzzing noises, and there is no way to replace the battery. It is not something that would soothe a baby or toddler to sleep even if it did work properly.Second, the milk and the soap were bigger than the bear it self, I don't get it? The bear is only 2 maybe 3 inches tall and cheap looking. And third, for a nice interactive bed time story, there is no story really. The pj's are difficult to put on the bear even for an adult. The only plus side is that the book is cute and the quality of the book and accessories (except the bear) were very nice.I sent it back for a refund, for me it was not worth the price. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars My son LOVES his Moo Moo
He is only four months and has loved this toy since around two months. Now he grabs for it and is constantly looking for Moo Moo.I don't know what it is about this toy that has him so intrigued, but all the other toys play second fiddle to this cow.It is pretty plain and simple and cute too! ... 4-0 out of 5 stars Fun toy!!!!
My son is eight months old & has been enjoying this toy for some time now.He loves to push the balls through the holes & loves the sounds & music it makes.I am not thrilled with the plastic hammer, as he can bop himself in the head.Great toy though, worth getting!

3-0 out of 5 stars 24 months is a bit of a stretch
I thought this would be a great toy to have my daughter mimick the Wack-a-Mole game. It is cute, but it really is for younger ages, not the 24 months of the upper end of their recommended age range. Had I bought this a bit earlier on, I think I would have been happier with it, but my daughter had outgrown it before she even got it. She does take the hammer and pound on everything else, though. It has the same balls and similar sounds to the Stand Up Ball Blast. I love that product and would definitely recommend that over this one. Actually, get a small plastic hammer for the Ball Blast, and you kinda of have the same thing only much more fun cause the balls have further to travel.

2-0 out of 5 stars BOOOOOORING
This toy is not only hazaderous, but it is a hunk of junk. The balls always end up in the mouth-although they might not be able to be swallowed-they do get stuck in their mouths. The hammer gets lost to easily. It is rather annoying and the kids loose interest in it too quickly for the price. Not recommended-make better use of your money. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars works for us
My son is 20 months old and has played with this toy for over a year.He learned how to press the lever to proceed through the letters, numbers, without using the ball, but he still returns to making shots. The top has come off a few times, but only when he picks it up by the top half to drag it around. My son doens't have the attention span for many toys, but I sit and make shots with him and he still enjoys it.I like the fact that is shuts itself off after a few idle minutes.

2-0 out of 5 stars Not worth the money
This toy looks cute online and says it will "grow" with your child...sure, if your child never grows past the height of a 13 month old! It's too small, even at it's highest height. While it can stand a few bangs and bumps (my child dragged it around the house) do not get it near anything wet. My son tripped and spilled a little juice on it and the thing hasn't said a word since. I tried everything but it won't come back on! There are better toy basketball sets to spend your money on. Leave this one for the very, very young.

3-0 out of 5 stars toy stopped working after 2 months
We bought this toy for my 7 month old son for Christmas 2003.We didn't open it for him until March and by May the score board stopped working. We changed the batteries, nothing happened. We called Playskool and they said they were sending another and we never received it.They sent my son a talking chainsaw instead. He got the Little Tikes 3 in 1 sports set (basketball, baseball, golf) for his birthday and there have been no problems with that. The Little Tikes is a lot more toy for the money, too.Same price, but with three sports. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars A Real Winner
My daughter received this toy for her 1st birthday and we have gotten hours of enjoyment from it.Almost 2 months later she knows the name of each toy hidden inside the elephant and will fish inside for the appropriate item when asked where it (ball, little elephant, mouse, flower or peanuts) is.She then will present different people with her "finds."She's taken to hiding other toys inside the elephant also. It's easy to take along on visits.Just a great toy. ...
