5-0 out of 5 stars Wonderful!
My 3 year old son loves Bob the Builder, and has enjoyed learning to use his "My First Leap Pad" with Bob.The pictures are engaging and the games are easy to understand. We will definitely look for more Bob leap pad books!

3-0 out of 5 stars Disappointing
My son (3 1/2) loves the characters in the First LeapPad book series, but doesn't really enjoy the LeapPad books. The pace is s-l-o-w. The orientation is instructional -- and not very fun. The system depends on the reader pressing a green "Go" button to identify which page is active. Every page is framed by a border that is reserved for the successively located "Go" buttons. This works fine until your little pre-reader zips the stylus over the full page looking for hidden treasures and triggers a "Go" button for a different page. Then everyone's confused. If your child is used to structured learning, they'll probably like this a lot. If your child is used to the pace and interactivity of computer software, save this until they have some preliminary reading skills.

4-0 out of 5 stars My 2 year old loves this!
I bought my 2 year old son a My First Leap pad for Christmas.Out of all of the books he received he enjoys this one the most.He is not a fan of Bob the Builder and does not like the show on television, but he sure enjoys this product. There is a lot of praise and positive reinforcement. He loves to hear them cheer and tell him that he did a great job.If the games are too difficult, the book allows him to just touch the various pictures on the pages which make various sounds etc. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Great book for Bob fans...
This is a great book if you have Bob fans in the house. The only concern that we had with it is that it does teach insecurity through Lofty. Saying things like, "I'm not any good for anything," really doesn't do much for the self esteem in a child. As a teacher, my husband was quite concerned about comments such as those stressed by Lofty throughout the book.We also didn't like hearing Spud saying, "nay, nay nay nay nay" -not something you want to hear repeated by a three-year-old.Anyway, my son loves this book and plays with it throughout the day, almost daily.I just wish I could edit out those things that are insecurities and it would be a great book.Whenever Lofty says that he can't do something, my son says, "yes you can!"So, keep that in mind before buying the book. You're going to have to explain a few things as the story goes along. They really need to make more of these books with characters such as Bob.They're a bunch of fun and the music/voices are the same as the show.

5-0 out of 5 stars Favorite Characters and Lots of FUN
This is a great leap pad book.My 4 yr old son loved it instantly. The familiar characters from the Bob the Builder show make this book lots more fun than the ones featuring the Frog.I especially liked the fact that this book helps to teach that teasing is not a nice thing to do.There are at least 2 games on every page and it has the music from the show also.It is definitely worth the price and I hope they make more Bob the Builder books for the Leap Pad.

5-0 out of 5 stars Wonderful way to teach reading skills!!
My son is 4 and he loves this Bob book. He prefers it to his Bob videos since he is playing with the characters as he reads the book. It's wonderful that Leap Frog makes books that go beyond teaching ABC's for kids because there are so many important things they need to learn, and this book has loads of them (bigger vocabulary, comprehension, numbers, shapes to name a few). As a former teacher, I highly recommend this book for the entertainment AND education. ... Read more

Featuring the chirpy Bob and his mechanical multitude of talentedfriends, this fun package is a mixture of educational encouragement and pureout-and-out fun. In "Hedgehog Rescue," the aim is first to help Lofty the Cranebuild a tunnel and save the scared hedgehogs from crossing the road. Childrenmust match pipe shapes to tunnel shapes and construct the route. The next, moredifficult game involves Wendy herding the hedgehogs into the tunnel.

In "Travis's Race Day," challenge Scoop or Dizzy to a head-to-head around anobstacle-strewn track. Guide your challenger with your game controller--again,not as easy as it sounds, and a great developmental aid for hand-eyecoordination. "Can We Build It?" involves knocking down an unsafe bridge, thenusing color recognition to match the bricks to rebuild it. Roley needs a handwith unruly tarmac in "Bubble Trouble," and you must guide him over the bubblesto even out the road. And in "Scary Spud," you must move Spud around the screento scare off the crows. But the crowning glory is "Wendy's Birthday," in whichguests first decorate her cake then join in the line dancing. Also included oneach game is "Where's Pilchard?"--a hide-and-seek game for the shy, blue cat.

Accompanied throughout by Neil Morrisey's narration and the superb music fromthe TV show, this package builds on many elementary educational skills to makelittle builders into fully fledged Bobs. Testers of around 2 years old foundthis game fun and evocative of their favorite TV characters, though they didrequire constant supervision and most of the games were beyond mastering. Thisis a superb educational aid and lots of fun. (Ages 2 to 6) --Lucie Naylor ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars This is not an adult game!
I see reviews from older people or children. This is a game for young children like preschool-3rd grade. There is very little reading involved but a parents should be close enough just to let the child know what game is which and they click the one they want to play. From that point there is no reading to play each individual game.My 4 year old daughter enjoys it.She calls me when she needs to go back to the main screen and choose a different game.I read them as she clicks through the options and she clicks on the one she wants and play.Really not a whole lot of reading. If you are 4-8 you should enjoy this game.Otherwise I can see how you may use it as a drink coaster.

4-0 out of 5 stars first computer game for my 4 year old
This was the first computer game for my 4 year old.He learned it easily and can play with very little assistance.I am looking for a sequal.

2-0 out of 5 stars Ok for the kids, but parents should leave the room
My husband bought this game for our 4 year old, he likes Bob the Builder on TV but this game pales in comparison to the cartoon it is based on.Considering he can't read quite yet the beginning of the game is confusing to him since the titles of the different games don't tell you what is going to be happening when you play the game.It took even me a little while to figure out a couple of the different games. It's a little on the slow side and very little educational value. On the up-side it does have great verbal and written instructions before each different game and although my son enjoys a nice easy game once in a while this one will never be played very often. As for the parents, the repetitive nature of this game will leave you seeking shelter, I love to sit down with my son and play games but when this one comes out of the case I leave the room.I wouldn't buy this game unless you have a lot of patience and a pair of earplugs.I would go for something more fun, less repetive, and more educational. ... Can we play it? Yes we can, as Bob the Builder has now made it to theGame Boy Color in Fix-It Fun. It begins in Bob's yard, where he isgreeted by Dizzy, Lofty, Roley, and all his other best friends, all ready forsome serious work. Enter Wendy's office and there's a stream of jobs justwaiting to be done--notices are in the fax machine, in the files, and on theshelves. Jobs seem to be piling up everywhere, and Bob needs your help to getthem done.

Scroll up and down the job sheet menu to pick a task, and whether it's Mrs.Potts's fence, the town hall roof, feeding Pilchard, or fixing a wall with muck,it will keep the little ones busy for hours. Each smiley machine has his ownadventure for Bob to take part in, and the graphics are superb (as in all BBCchildren's games), clearly replicating these extremely popular characters.

The controls are simple and intuitive, and the enclosed instructions areillustrative and clear, taking players through the games one step at a time. They also include a number of handy hints in case building doesn't come asnaturally to everyone as it does to Bob.

For little ones who are pestering parents to buy them video games, this title isa great opportunity to combine education with entertainment. Young children willwhile away long car or plane journeys quite happily without even realizingthey're learning about shapes and patterns, numbers and letters, and tidying upand fixing things, as well as developing their hand-eye coordination andreasoning and concentration skills. (The value is much the same as when childrenuse an educational CD-ROM.)

For Bob fans everywhere, or youngsters who love using their older brother's orsister's Game Boy, Bob the Builder: Fix-It Fun lives up to its BBCcredentials: it is safe, fun, and educational. It's also the kind of video gameevery parent is looking to find. --Lucie Naylor ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars ITEM
This is a great item the person I bought it for LOVED IT!
Its a cute and great gift

3-0 out of 5 stars Not well thought out.
My five year old loves Bob the Builder and just inherited his brothers game boy. I thought this game would be perfect for him. The first problem is that you need to know how to read in order to play it. Since BTB is geared towards the preschool crowd, that seems weird that they would require you to do any reading.

Secondly, each level rewards you with a password. You re-enter this password whenever you start playing which brings you back to your current level. This would be fine if the child knew how to read and told me about the password, but he since he can't he just skips right over it and the password is lost. He needs to start from square one each time. Which leads to the next problem....

You have to accomplish 10 tasks (aquire 10 passwords) before you get to play with Scoop. This is so discouraging for my son because he loves Scoop. It's his favorite character and the only one he is interested in playing with. He's also the hardest to master. So if you don't write down those passwords and help your child enter them, they'll never get to play with Scoop.

How nice it would have been if the game had automatically saved your level each time you played. Is that too much to ask for in a preschool game?

5-0 out of 5 stars A good buy
I bought this sleeping bag for my almost 3 year old son prior to him attending a sleepover at his school. When purchasing a sleeping bag, I looked for quality and fun and as he loves Bob the Builder, settled on this one .For the price, it's a great buy - we live in Florida so the thickness is irrelavant, but it's certainly not a flimsy bag.He loves it and feels very grown up whenever I pull it out.He sometimes crawls into it while watching tv.I think for an occasional indoor sleepover bag, this one makes a great choice.

This is a MUST for any little Bob The Builder fan. Both my son and his cousin have one and they love to have pretend sleep-overs (they are too young for real ones) with them.If you want to buy this, be warned this is NOT for cold weather sleeping, but OK for summer tent camping.

Downside: It is very difficult to insert or remove tools from the rubbery toolbelt - even for an adult. My 2 year old can't put any of the tools back on his own and has difficulty removing some of them without help. The clothing portion is typical of a halloween (or limited use) costume, threads easily unravel and the back is closed only at the top with simple velcro.

As a teacher and a grandmother, I am always looking for that particular toy that will be educational as well as entertaining. In my teacher/grandma role, there is a fine line between buying something that "looks" educational and something that is a "toy." LEGO products have always met the goals I am looking for. This particular product is something that will grow with the child and give them many hours of building enjoyment. Believe it or not, parents, there is plenty of logic and math concepts in this product. I use LEGOS in my math lab to teach all math concepts from basic addition and subtraction to fractions. The kids think they are having a free day when we use the LEGOs. (In their eyes, if we don't use a book, we are not doing math.)Little do they realize just how much math and logic they are really getting. ... Read more

A fun way for kids to bring one of their favorite characters to life, this Bob the Builder costume comes with almost everything needed to play therole of the industrious worker. Along with a printed checked shirt and blueoveralls, the costume comes with a yellow construction hat and a small tool beltfull of plastic tools. To add a little realism to the costume, a sound box hasbeen built into the front of the tool belt that activates a series of hammeringsounds and construction noises when the tools are used. The costume is made ofpolyester and can be machine washed in cool water. --Chris Burns ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars the belt is cool
except when the belt is in the bottom of the toy box and when a toy hits it just right it stsarts hammering. My cat has also activated it in the middle of the night and it is quite scary to wake up to lol. Amyway it has been 2 years, the costume still exists but my son mailly plays with the helmet and the belt. When he wore it for Halloween everyone commented on it, especially men, which I thought was cool

3-0 out of 5 stars Cute costume; but, don't expect long-term wear.
Upside: As a halloween costume, it is adorable and my son just loves it!He especially loves the hard hat and tools, which he can play with even if he isn't wearing the costume for a special occasion.

4-0 out of 5 stars Wonderful Costume
I received the costume yesterday and i could not stop looking at it.I showed all my co-workers and they were all with the AWWWWWW's.I took the belt out to hear the hammering sounds, very nice. When I got home, my son saw it and wanted the hat, he looked sooo adorable with it and did not want to take it off. Great costume, can't wait until Halloween. ... Read more
