5-0 out of 5 stars Great for building fine motor skills
I bought this for my 5-year-old nephew who loves Lego sets and Harry Potter. While it provides hours of entertainment, concentration/focus and independent play time for him it also helps him work on his fine motor skills -- which he doesn't get with sports and other favorite activities. He needs a little assistence at times because some of the pieces are very small and a little tricky for little fingers.

5-0 out of 5 stars This keeps my son busy for hours!
I bought this for my 4 year old son (as his 2004 Hanukkah gift). He LOVES it!

Although it is way too complicated for him to put together himself, he still loves it because it comes with over 900 pieces and he gets to be very creative...(and it keeps him busy for hours!) Highly recommended.

5-0 out of 5 stars Hogwarts Express, take two!
I'm both a big Potter fan and a big LEGO train fan, but I haven't gotten either of the two new versions sets 4758 or 10132 (motorized), but I have the old 4708 set.The new sets look very similar, with an updating of characters to the third movie.I've already modified my old set to be powered and running on the LEGO tracks along with my other two engines, so I'm not sure I'd need another set even if it has some slight changes to the windows and how the engine storage compartment works.

On LUGNET, this was reviewed as having the following differences...
Aaron West: "Better fleshed out version of the first, windows are closed. I like the Hogsmead stop too. If they keep releasing these, soon we'll have a full length train. Sticker sheet includes decals for 10132"

5-0 out of 5 stars THE COOLEST LEGO TOY EVER!!!
This train is simuler as the scorcerers stone train but this train has Profecer Lupin and who can forget the Dementor figuor! The Dementor is the funist figuor to have in your hands! You can also take the roof of the passenger car and preetend that the Dementor is sucking Harrys soul out of his body and Profecer Lupin saving him!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars This train is the best!
I absolutely love this train!I've always loved the Lego Hogwarts Express.I'm glad they made a new one.The dementor is a good addition. The only reason I rated the durability a little lower is because they designed parts of it to come off easily (they don't hook with other Lego pieces). It means you have to be really careful when you pick it up.I don't really plan on picking it up too often, though. But, I still rate the toy overall as a 5 because it looks awesome! ... 5-0 out of 5 stars This toy ROCKS!!
I bought this toy for my fiance.HE LOVES it!When you look at Legos train sets, the Hogwart's Express is one of the top trains. It looks super cool and it has even GREATER potential with a few add-ons.The great thing about any lego set is you can continue to add on to it and create new things, you are only limited by your imagination. It runs super smoothly and has tremedous power. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars cool bus!!!!!!!!
I got this bus for a present from my parents and it is a really cool lego set! It is very durable and fun to play with. My Mom likes the purple! I love that the beds slide up and down. I make it a travel school bus for my legos. If I take the top 2 layers down I make it a school bus. It is very easy to make this toy and you will love how it looks at he end!! So if you are a lego fan buy this toy today!!!!!!!!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars So Cool!
Yes, I'm 14 years old and still playing with legos! Even though this is recommended for an age up to 12 years, i still loved it! Being a '14 year old Harry Potter enthustiast' this set is great! Legos are still fun to me and it combines that with my favorite book (and favorite bus!) The set is easy to put together (although i had some trouble with putting on the tires...should have known they were on backwards!) The Knight Bus is a nice addition to any Harry Potter or Lego collection, it is so cute whether your 6, 14 or even 40(mum loved it too!) Great to get to start your Hogwarts Lego Collection!

5-0 out of 5 stars This Toy Is Very Cool!
This toy is very cool because it stays together very well, and it includes Honeyduke's, the candy store, that doesn't show up in the movie for a long time.It has Sirius Black as a dog and as himself.Under the little house, you can change people into animals. In the candy store, it includes some cherries and apples. At first, it doesn't stick together well but then it starts sticking together.By Max, age 6

4-0 out of 5 stars nice toy
This is a fun toy when you put it toghether and it does not break apart first! It is not really durable unless you build it on hard something but it is sort of hard to put togheter but it looks nice when it is done and built. Honeydukes keeps coming apart when you try to build it and I got lost in the shack when building. I have not done the hole thing yet but will soon! Some times the lego keeps coming un doneand get sort of anyoing but if you want something to make you not bored or is low tempered then buy this toy.

5-0 out of 5 stars Shrieking shack
this lego set is really cool! I give it 3 stars for durability since it is a lego. If you loved the scene in the movie, you will love this set! I dont like how the shack spins though. Honeydukes comes with it too! the person to animal thing actually worrks! If you have a lego collection this is a must! ... Read more

Editorial Review

Perhaps nowhere on the campus of Hogwarts Academy is more packed with mystery and magic than the office of Headmaster Albus Dumbledore. In this446-piece LEGO re-creation, the details are impressive: a spire with parapets, potion books, letters (delivered by owl, no doubt), and golden keys. Of course, since it is LEGO, the individual items, architecture, and figures of Harry and Dumbledore are somewhat simplified. But the set is also completely compatible with other Harry Potter LEGO toys, as well as any other LEGOs. Also included is a graphic manual with step-by-step instructions on building everything.--John Moe ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Fabulous toy
As a Harry Potter fan, I started buying Legos for the first time in years; I still remember when they didn't have specific kits.I was so impressed by my first Harry Potter Legos that I've collected quite a magical landscape by now.I loved this kit--it has a lot of interesting elements, like the swinging back door and revolving bookshelf, and I have found that its parts can be well-used to make up good alternative buildings for those of us who like to create models rather than build them exactly as instructed. This set and the Hogwarts Castle are my favorite Lego sets thus far.

3-0 out of 5 stars Know what you are buying
Whenever I buy a Lego set for my son I consider three things.First of all, the build: How fun will it be to build the first time?Second, I consider the playability: What's fun about this set? Then I consider the pieces of the set:Will it still be fun when half of the pieces are lost in the sofa and he's building his own castles from what's left (this kind of versitility is why I buy my son Legos)?
This set is really fun on the first day. While it only took us a few minutes to build (there are lots of large pieces), my son really enjoyed acing out scenes from the movie. The following weeks however, were not quite as good. The srength of the Harry Potter Legos is that they really resemble the places in the films. However, the consequense of this is a lot of peices that are specific to Harry's world. The prblem with this is that my son's original castles become less his, and more Harry Potter's-- the pieces really do not work well in other environments.Since we bought a few Harry Potter sets my son has asked that we not get any more, he says they are "too much like the movie".So I guess it's fun for a while, but don't expect the fun to move much past the directions.

1-0 out of 5 stars Dumb.
Look at the name."Dumb"ledore's Office. It's dumb this set including Harry Potter. He doesn't teach much for kids and this set makes no difference. You can always buy it I suppose for a medieval legos collection but Harry is a minifig thats mindless. ... Read more

This is an extraordinarily detailed LEGO set, with almost 600 pieces that form four related Harry Potter scenes. Though the finished product makes for a fun play world--with intricate castle chambers and a whole host of Potter characters--this is really more like a 3-D puzzle than a toy. For younger kids who don't have the patience to wade through the novella-length instruction booklet, the set may end up in a big, hopeless muddle. For those with the ambition and focus, or for parents who want some together time with their kids, the task is certainly doable thanks to the handy way pieces are divided into numbered bags and clearly keyed to the instruction book. --David Stoesz ... This set has all you need to complete the collection! I love how it features the faucet for the bathroom the snake and all.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great!
This set is the best! (...) its great to play with and if you'd like film it! I am just starting my second movie. There's a bunch of new characters that you can't get in any other set. I just need three more to complete my whole collection.(I'm still getting the 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, and 7th ones!) Go for this one. It's just the best! I have to go play with it right now, bye!

5-0 out of 5 stars Pretty good!
I liked this set - it's one of the bigger Lego sets I've gotten (alas, no one has gotten the Hogwarts set for me yet ... ), and I enjoyed putting it together over the span of several days.(Only because I kept getting distracted.)There's several play areas, which you can arrange in several ways. There's also instructions on how to build different portions of the Chamber, so you're not bound to one set-up.

I think my main complaint, however, is the design for Salazar Slytherin's mouth. It opens like a set of doors, whereas in the movie (and in my imagination when reading the books) the mouth drops open.So I changed the design a bit to fit.I had plenty of pieces to do it with, too - so this set is even good as a builder for your own ideas.

Plus, the purple get-up for Gilderoy Lockhart is just too good to pass up. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars The Maurarder's Map
This is a really good set! I like the new flesh tones on all the mini figures except that snape still looks like a ghost and they dont match with the old ones. Well that is okay i guess. Lego really did a great job on the new legos. The only sets I hate its Hogwarts classrooms, Diagon Alley, and Gryffindor common room because the colors were wrong. Keep up the great work Lego!

5-0 out of 5 stars Marauder's Map
If you like Legos and Harry Potter, this is a must have.People are collecting up Lego/Potter items quickly, so if you want to get in on them, you might want to hurry... usually once Lego drops the price on something, they are going to quit selling it, then you will be left with just private sellers, which aren't always reliable or honest.I ordered a bunch of the Lego/Potter items at once, and spent the day putting them all together, for my display case.I am a big kid at heart, and love lego, and am a devout fan of Harry Potter. This is a great toy for kids, the instructions on most of the lego sets are visual, so you can see what needs to be done, helping with eye-hand coordination.Once the sets are put together, you now have a setting to let imaginations take over... all in all, legos are great toys ...
