Simon says, "Would you like to play a game?" Or seven? With Simon 2, thenext generation of the classic electronic sequencing game, players can play thetraditional Simon challenges against the machine or they can turn over the unitfor head-to-head play with a human opponent. All seven games are variations onthe ingenious original: an ever-increasing sequence of signals, denoted by theflashing and beeping colored buttons, must be repeated by alternating opponents.Complete with nonscuff rubber feet, and powered by three AA batteries (notincluded), Simon 2 features adjustable skill levels on most of the games (asequence of as few as eight or as many as 31, for example). Players who desire adash of recall and replication with their reflex action will enjoy gettingSimon, too. --Tony Mason ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Simon game
The buttons get stuck after very little use, they are hard to push for little hands, unit gets stuck and will NOT turn off.It just starts making noise while just laying there. There is no way to just turn it off without removing the batteries. Not at all happy with this toy.

5-0 out of 5 stars Awesome Homeschool Tool
As I type this message, my husband is playing Simon2 with our two oldest children, ages 3 and 4. They have been at it over an hour and are still having a blast!

As a homeschooling family, we look for toys that will reinforce skills that we are teaching, challenge our children and that are fun! This toy has it all! Even my youngest, who just turned 2 enjoys playing this game. He is too young to really understand it, but loves the lights and music!

The older children benefit from having an adult speak the color pattern out as they play, such as, "blue, blue, yellow, etc". We've found it to meet the needs of all learning styles when used in this way! I would definately recommend this toy to other families! And an added bonus, is that it's fun for the parents to pass the time with as well.

4-0 out of 5 stars Family Fun with a Fantasy Twist
I must admit that my family loves Monopoly and I love LOTR. This is a great version for us to break out during the hurricanes [I live in FL] for a change of pace.

It is a nice set and if you're into collecting the different versions I would highly recommend this one. One point that I am unsure of is if this is the Trilogy version or not. When movies and marketing span years, one must be careful to check on those pesky details.

All in all a good game with moderately paced game play; however it can take a while to get through a whole game so do not start near bed time.

5-0 out of 5 stars Simply fantastic!
This game is so much fun! It is a very fun way to spend your time, I love being able to "own"Weathertop! Mount Doom is also included, at a very high sale pirce, in this game. There is also a pretty fun alternative game that includes using the One Ring. I think anyone who is a fan of the books, or mainly the movies, should get this edition of Monopoly!

5-0 out of 5 stars My favorite version of Monopoly yet.
My fiance and I collect different versions of Monopoly as we're addicted to the game. Last Christmas I bought him this one as he had just finished watching the LOTR trilogy. Quickly we both became addicted to this particular version. I have never seen the movies yet I rate this version of the game higher then any of the others for a number of reasons. The game is so well put to the Monopoly board, it seems natural to be playing to try to get all the "steeds" vs. "railroads". The game pieces are incredibly detailed and add significantly to the game. I would recommend LOTR Monopoly to all! ... Read more

Speed, not artistry, is the key to Pictionary Junior, a party game that stole the show from Charades in the '80s. The kids' version, which has been updated with hundreds of new words to draw, has hints and two levels of play. There are 144 two-sided cards. The red side is more challenging, and the blue side is easier--for younger players. Both include a theme to be read aloud and start everyone thinking on track. Teams go head-to-head to guess the word their "picturist" draws within 60 seconds. How fast can you draw an apple pie, an eyebrow, or a coin? It takes a quick hand and good guesswork to move around the game board from start to finish before the other team. A timer and easy-to-read instructions are included. --Lynne Sampson ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Finally, a Kid's Game with Drawing!!
I like Pictionary Jr. because it is a game about drawing, one of my favorite things, for kids. It's hard for younger kids who can't read and you need about four people. But overall, I really like it.

4-0 out of 5 stars .....
The only setback to this game is if the people you are playing it with really stink at drawing. If that's so, then you're at a disadvantage and pretty much sunk. But it's fun to play anyway!

Editorial Review

Yahtzee has been called America's favorite dice game and, with tattered boxes closeted in homes across the nation, that claim is not hard to believe. Put five dice in a shaker, mix in strategy, add luck, stir--then let the fun begin! So how do you improve on something this good? By sprucing it up.Yahtzee Deluxe is aglitter with sparking dice, a velvet-lined playing tray, a sturdy cushioned shaker that has the feel of soft leather, and detailed score cards that make totaling points easier than ever. The detailed instruction booklet even includes a section on the history of dice. The plush playing surface is set inside a light plastic frame that seems a trifle small, but this is a minor complaint. As a handsome replacement for an old, faded game, or a brand-new source of family fun, Yahtzee Deluxe offers the same excitement that has been entertaining players since it was first released in 1956. --George Laney ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Yahtzee Review
This game is loads of fun.I got it for my eighth birthday.I thought to myself "Oh, it's one of those stupid board games again," but it wasn't.I'm 10 now, and I'm still playing with Yahtzee.I like it because of how much thinking is involved, and you have to make impartant decisions, like "Hmm...should I put my score in 4 of a kind, or in my fours up top?"That skill can also help you along the way in school. But you know what, most games that are educational can be boring. But not Yahtzee!Yahtzee is also fun because of the excitement in you while hoping to get a Yahtzee, which is worth fifty points, which is the most points you can get.And you always feel happy when you roll something that you know is good! Now, I don't have the Deluxe Edidtion of Yahtzee, but I'm sure that if I liked the regular Yahtzee, the Delexe Edition would be even better.I hope you order this game soon. And for those of you out there who don't want to buy Yahtzee, because you think you are too cool or too old for it, YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT YOU'RE MISSING!!!

Build a better mousetrap? We dare you. Naturally, the object is to trap mice in the mousetrap, while avoiding getting trapped. By rolling the die, you proceed around the game board, collecting cheese pieces and building a mousetrap bit by bit. Once complete, you set the wheels in motion, as it were, to try to capture the opposition's mice. But this is no ordinary trap. With this contraption you start by turning the crank, that rotates the gears, that push the lever, that moves the shoe, that kicks the bucket, that sends the ball down the stairs and into the gutter, that leads to the rod that releases a second ball, that falls through the bathtub and onto the springboard, that catapults the diver into the washtub, that causes the cage to fall and--whew!--hopefully, capture a mouse. The last "mouse" left uncaptured wins --Alison Golder ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Mouse Trap - made by Milton Bradley
In this hi-tech age,I'm amazed a game like Mouse Trap is even made anymore.Don't get me wrong,I liked this game as a kid but that was over thirty years ago.I recently picked this game up and I found out the hard way that most kids over the age of,say eight probably wouldn't have much interest in it.The recommended age is over three. So,that would narrow it down to kids between 3 to 7.If you're an adult with some time on your hands, you could possibly find this game somewhat entertaining for maybe twenty minutes before wanting to find something else to do.Only downside is that too many of the required pieces can easily end up lost or broken.Overall,it's an okay game.

5-0 out of 5 stars Beats computer games any day!
I had this game when I was young and it has been around for years now. You could be forgiven for dismissing the game as a silly bit of fun but a large part of the point of this is setting up the game. This requires kids to test their dexterity, physical and mental, as well as consider some early notions of scientifc principles; logic, physics, probability etc.
I think it's fab for developing young brains while the have lot's of fun and barely realise you are taxing their grey cells!

5-0 out of 5 stars It's a blast!
Any kids that I've played this with have never actually played the game...they just love putting the contraption together! There is nothing more rewarding than hearing this excited little laugh-scream when the mouse is captured.

4-0 out of 5 stars Lots of fun!
We received this game as a birthday present and my boys, ages 9,8 and 5, love it!The Event Cards kept things interesting and unpredictable. We did help my 5 year old with a little strategy in choosing the quickest ways to reach all his attractions, but by the end of the game he had the hang of it.The pieces are durable and very well packaged.Great game!

5-0 out of 5 stars A negative review???
I can't believe I just read a negative review of this game. This is one of the most fun and entertaining games my children and I have ever played. My kids are 11 and 7 and they both love it.It's a GREAT family game that teaches strategy and thinking ahead. The spaces are just fine in size. The only problem is seeing the spaces behind the castle. That's it.Otherwise, it's wonderful. We love to use this game to reminisce about our Disney trips as well!

1-0 out of 5 stars THIS IS THE WORST BOARD GAME EVER
I was really shocked to see ANY positive reviews of this game. It was the worst game I've ever played in my entire life. I played it with my 5 year old who loves everything and he hated it too. I'm not the kind of person to return something unless it is broken but I returned this after the first time playing it.
The rules are complicated.
The spaces are too small to count when you are moving.
There is little to no fun or imagination in playing the game.

4-0 out of 5 stars Good could be Better....
This game is fun but it is also tricky.I have the game in a collectors tin which makes for nice keeping.I have fun playing this game as I love board games but I can find some of the questions extremely tricky for adults as I wasn't old enough for a lot of the ?'s and then for the children's ?'s many are too easy.So this game can get frustrating for us playing it.I do wish they would come out with more ?'s as some have suggested as I too have finished mine.I still have fun playing this game, but find those few things a con in this great game.

3-0 out of 5 stars Just a Little Disappointed
I agree with the other reviewers that this game is a lot of fun but there is only one small box of cards (1/2 adult and 1/2 child questions). My daughter and I played 2 games and had already gone through the cards. Even though we didn't get the same questions most of the time it was still disappointing. I called Hasbro and they have no plans of making additional cards for this game, which is really too bad. Does anyone else remember when Trivial Pursuit had 2 huge boxes of questions and the other question boxes that you could purchase?
Aaaaah memories!

5-0 out of 5 stars A fun game for everyone
I got this game from my hubby for Christmas, and I have to say that I'm not disappointed. It covers many of the Disney animated movies, starting with "Steamboat Willy" from 1928 and going right up to "Tarzan" from 1999.And the questions aren't all "Who is this character?"...some of them are quite challenging, especially if you haven't seen the particular movie!
The game comes with 2 sets of cards - the adult questions and the children questions, so everyone can play.
All in all, this is a great game for children and adults alike. ... Read more

Checkers has never been the same since Connect Four. Now there's even more of a challenge with Electronic Hand-Held Connect Four. Here, you're going up against a machine. Play the traditional game of trying to get four in a row--horizontal, vertical, or diagonal--while blocking the computer opponent. Add more of a challenge by choosing Game 2: the checkers disappear, and it takes memory and strategy to win. The arrow keys keep you in complete control of the game, and you can even shut off the sound to better concentrate. There are three different skill levels to keep things interesting, or if it's too hard, the computer will offer hints with the press of a button. --Lynne Sampson ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Huge Fun
The handheld version of Connect Four has only one fault:It records losses...
Really, that is the only fault in my eyes.
I love playing with my handheld connect four.I love the game connect four, plus i love versing the computer.I also love how you can decide how hard you want it.
It has sort of an educational value because it teaches you strategy and even a little bit, patience.
I have yet to break my Connect Four.
Overall, I rate it five stars and say:
GO GET IT!

3-0 out of 5 stars A technical perspective
I know this is mostly going to be purchased as a toy to keep the kids occupied, and as far as that goes I'd recommend it. Connect Four is a good introduction to strategy games, the rules are very simple but the strategy is surprisingly complex.
But the programmers who created this handheld version could have done a lot better. In the world of game theory, Connect Four is known as a "solved game". If both sides play perfectly, it turns out that the first player will always win. This means that there are computer programs out there that (if given the first move) will win regardless of what their opponent does. Granted, playing one of these programs isn't any fun, but that's the gold standard. My point is that even this handheld version of Connect Four should be capable of playing very, very well. But I've played it a few times on its highest level, and it's not even a challenge for me. I beat it every time, whether I move first or second makes no difference. And I *don't* play a perfect game, that's for sure. I'm not saying there shouldn't be beginner levels, but the product would be much better if it was capable of putting up a serious challenge on the higher levels. It might be a good present for a niece or nephew though.

5-0 out of 5 stars Better Than The Original Version . . .

If there's any game out there that normally makes little kidsfeel left out, it's Scrabble, the word game that's usually played byadults and older kids. But Scrabble Junior is a great way to introduceyoung children to the game and get them interested in how words areformed. In the beginner game, specially developed for younger kids, players draw seven tiles from a pool, then work to match letters to theones printed on the board. As they work through their tiles, they spellout the words, one letter at a time, and receive points for finishingeach word. By the end of the game, they'll have used over a hundredletters to work through a variety of different words. On the other sideof the board there is a basic version of the classic Scrabble game withsimple scoring rules. Once your children master the advanced game, youmight be surprised to see that they're ready to take you on in a matchof the original Scrabble. Just be prepared to losegracefully. --John Longenbaugh ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars Don't bother - get the real thing.
Scrabble Jr. uses cheap materials for a not-all-that-cheap price. It simplifies the scoring, but that removes the reward for using the harder letters... and if you really want to do a 1-point-per-letter scoring system with no bonus spaces on the board, it would be easy enough to implement that with a regular set. The board is smaller, so it actually makes the game harder as you go along, because you run out of space at the edges to make the words you'd like to. The basic skill of constructing words isn't any easier with this game than with an adult set, and I think the simplified scoring takes a lot of the fun out of the game. I'm getting a Scrabble Deluxe set to use with my 6 and 9 year old kids - they'll need some help, but no more so than with Scrabble Jr. and it will be a more satisfying and more durable game.

4-0 out of 5 stars Excellent
My daughter received this game as a gift.We Love It.She wants to play it all the time.It is a great spelling game. She is 6 years old and just started to read and loves to spell.Excellent Game

3-0 out of 5 stars Kind of deficient
I was excited at the prospect of a scrabble game I could play with the little children I babysit for.Unfortunately, this game relied neither on the luck that evens the playing field nor a skill a young child could pick up quickly enough to start winning enough. So unless I play dumb, I wind up winning each time. Also, I found the layout of the game to be especially poor for two reasons.First, as the featured reviewer noted, the cartoony pictures obscure the first letters of words.Second, the choice of words is so poor, it slows down the spelling process, especially at the beginning, when the variety of options is very limited. It seems the creators of the game just played a few rounds of Scrabble (TM) and said "Hey, this one looks good for kids" and didn't do any playtesting. So in conclusion, rather than looking at an educational game designed for children, what we have is a recognizable brand name that has been adapted to take advantage of a heretofore unregocnized market share. In other words, just trying to make a quick few bucks. ... If someone else already owns an amusement, you pay up. Watch out--if one player owns both amusements of the same color, you must pay them double! So have some fun. And don't forget--pass GO, collect $2. --Alison Golder ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars We LOVE this game.
This is a wonderful game!!!My 6 year old loved to play Monopoly, but it was very hard for her and no fun for me.This version is WONDERFUL!!! My little girl can count out her own money and tell me what to pay when I land on her property.I like and want to play this game with my daughter. My 3 year old can also play this game with a little help.

4-0 out of 5 stars Ok for kids
I baby sit a lot, so I bought this for when the kids come over. It's not hard at all, there isn't much thinking involved and the kids actually enjoyed it. But I will say that they outgrew it really fast. Pretty soon they were wanting to play "real" Monopoly with the "big kids". And I must say, they won a lot!
Over-all though, it's a good starting point to a good "real" Monopoly player.

5-0 out of 5 stars My son's favorite game!
My son receive this as a gift when he was four. He loved playing this game on the computer and loves the board game version even more. We have lost a few of the "ticket booths" but when you're five that just doesn't matter. A great way to start the foundation of adding and subtraction. The money could be a little more durable but overall for the price you get great family fun! ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Disney makes the magic shine...
This is so much fun... but it is still as long as the original.I love this one better because I am a Disney freak!Everything about the game has a Disney theme now.But the rules are the same as the first one.If you are a fan of Monopoly then you will also love this version long as you like Disney.I find it great for the family to sit down and play!Just as long as they have patience as it can be a quite long game at times.

3-0 out of 5 stars The Greatest Game on Earth
It toally rocks. the durbleness is slitly not fondbecause the money will rip. The ed. is okay by having kids use their mind to count .

5-0 out of 5 stars A little visit to Disney without leaving home!

5-0 out of 5 stars MY FAVORITE MONPOLY GAME!!!!!!!
I just got this game last year and it is fun to play by myself and it is fun. I can pick what sides to be on and I always picked the darkside of the force. I recomend this game for any hard core star wars fans like me.

3-0 out of 5 stars Where are all our favorite characters?
Star Wars Monopoly - great idea.Leaving out Princess Leia, Han Solo, Chewbacca, C3-PO, Yoda, Jabba, Boba Fett, and / or a Stormtrooper seems inexcusable. Why did they include a TIE Fighter Pilot, Tusken Raider, and Grand Moff Tarkin?Did they even ask the fans what characters they'd want?Great idea, just poorly executed.Hasbro, we expect more from you.

3-0 out of 5 stars For a Star Wars junkie, perhaps...
The mechanics of the game are generally true to Monopoly.I really love the Star Wars films and I have read fair amount of Star Wars fiction, but I found the unique place names a tad too obscure to make play easy the first time around.

If you have a die-hard Star Wars fan who knows all the names of all the characters, and the planets they are from, this is probably the game for them.

It wasn't the game for me, but so far my eldest son has taken a shine to it... ... Read more

Editorial Review

In this electronic adaptation, the hangman is a cowboy in a Western town. There are 11 chances to correctly guess the word from a memory bank of 8,000 words arranged in 10 categories. The game fits in the palm of a hand, and there's much to control. Select the skill level and word length (even whether or not to have sound effects play a victory tune when the cowboy is saved from the rope). Only Level 1 allows the player to pick from categories like Animals, City, Music, and Wild West. Otherwise, it's as random as traditional Hangman. Game 2 scrambles the letters, so it's even harder to guess which letter to pick from the lot and to guess the word. It comes ready to play, keeps score, and has an automatic shutoff. Great for long road trips. --Lynne Sampson ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Game
I am in general one that loves the game Hangman. This electronic, handheld version made that much easier for me for several reasons.First of all, if you don't have anyone else to play with (for instance, your family doesn't like hangman as much as you do, like me), then you are all set, because you can play this all by yourself.I also like the fact that there are several categories, and THEN you can choose how long you want the word to be.
I like this game because of my love for Hangman/words.
I really don't have a strong feeling about its educational value, however it does teach some things.
I have so far not broken mine, and I've had it for a while now.
Overall, I think this version of Hangman is an absolute Must Have.

5-0 out of 5 stars great for car trips!
The excitement of a handheld for the kids, the wholesomeness I look for.

5-0 out of 5 stars Best Ever = um... BUY!!!!!!!!

Guesstures turns up the heat on the tired game of charades with a few modernizations. Good, quick pantomiming is still the thing, but now teams need to act out and guess four words in a matter of seconds. The "mimer-timer," designed like a movie scene board, controls everything. The actor draws four word cards and places them from easiest to hardest in the timer unit for each scene. After the arm swings down for "Action," time is rapidly eaten away and so are cards as the performer gestures wildly like a silent movie actor. When the cast guesses the word, the actor grabs the card before the "mimer-timer" does. Whew! It's a lot to think about. Each word is rated based on difficulty, so whatever cards the team correctly guesses and the actor manages to seize are tallied up and recorded. --Lynne Sampson ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars great group fun
I played this game at a party where I did not really know anyone.there were about ten of us playing on two teams and it was great fun.Everyone was laughing, everyone could do it and there was no fear in not being able to think up ways to describe the object since you can pick the hard or easy word during your turn.I really loved it

Upwords takes the likes of Scrabble to new heights. Players get more power out of every word and create more play possibilities. Players can build from words crossword puzzle-style or by stacking letters on top of tiles already on the board. The challenge is to make new words each time. For example, "stack" becomes "snack," then "snapshot." If it sounds like 3-D Scrabble, there's more to know. Scoring is simpler: each tile earns two points, and each stacked tile earns one. The usual Nos apply: no capitalized, hyphenated, or abbreviated words, etc. The set comes with 100 letter tiles, tile racks for two to four players, and a plastic game board. --Lynne Sampson ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Great Game for All Ages in the Family
I bought this game because I remembered how much fun it was as a child. What I didn't realized is that it is a great game for adults to play with children of different levels. My husband and I play like Scrabble, looking for long words. My stepdaughter (13yo) looks for tricky ways to create 2 words at once (she once made 3 new words by putting a new word between two other words - talk about points!). My stepson (12) has a limited spelling skills (underachiever) but by changing the words he can really rack up the points and keep up with the rest of us. It's helping us teach him more too. Great game!

5-0 out of 5 stars A Creative and Strategic Game
This is my favorite game.Scrabble is an excellent game that I have played for years.Scrabble relies on the point value of letters and expanding on words placed on the board.UpWords allows you to change words, again and again. For instance star can become starve, starving, starting, flashing, crashing. And when you add to two or three words simultaneously, the points go soaring!I like it better because you need to be creative and strategic. After a few games, we learned that placing small words (3, 4 or 5 letters max) provides the most opportunity for an interesting game that goes upwards effectively and uses up the majority of the board. You cannot think Scrabble minded when playing this game as with Scrabble you think of long, high point words.Toward the end when you start stacking on multiple words, the point values for words increase significantly with minor word changes.Great Game!

1-0 out of 5 stars just make it stop
This games scoring is too confusing. My friends fought over it for 25 minutes. and then they just put the game away. I'm not so sure what was worse the rampent testosterone or the confusion of the actual scoring. As I write this i am being told to email the company and ask how to score it. Ridiculous. there is something wrong with this game and my friend mike. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Takes the bite out of Clue
It's the classic game of Clue the Disney way! What does that mean exactly?Well for starters you play as either Pluto, Goofy, Diasy, Donald, Minnie or Mickey.Additionally, instead of finding out who murdered Mr. Body, you try to figure out who got scared, by which ghost and in which room of the Haunted Mansion. So instead of the classic Clue weapons you get six glow-in-the-dark ghosts.Kids love these ghosts and I must admit that making them glow in the dark was a great idea.

Gameplay is just like classic Clue with players moving aaround the mansion, making guesses and taking notes on their detective pads. The tin the game comes in is rather sturdy and has held up well in the months I've had the game.

This is a great game for Disney and Clue fans of all ages.Something that the entire family can enjoy together. However, I must admit to liking classic Clue better. The scaring motif takes away the dark tone, tension and urgency of the original. But I guess that should be expected of a Disney version of this game. ...
