Editorial Review

Sometimes it takes some radical re-engineering to breathe new life into a classic board game. In this, the latest incarnation of the old favorite "Sorry", the traditional board has been scrapped, replaced by smaller individual boards given to individual players. But the star of the show is, improbably, a simple red pawn game piece, blown up to enormous proportions and imbued with the power of speech. Players draw game cards from a deck beneath said pawn who offers sassy commentary on the proceedings. It was a touch disorienting for those of us raised on the traditional game but the process of learning to play an old game in a new way offered plenty of challenges and fun. --Charlie Williams ... 4-0 out of 5 stars The Wacky Board Game Family
Don't let the length of the instructions steer you away from this fabulous game.It takes a few rounds before you can play without checking the instructions. But once you get the hang of it, you'll be a fan forever.

5-0 out of 5 stars FUn for the whole Family
My 10 year old got this one for Christmas. What a blast...the best part was when the pawn says "the oldest player goes first"and Grandma started looking around the table..then said OH!This game is really fun , something new everytime..we love it and play it often. We are getting some more as gifts!

5-0 out of 5 stars Too much fun!!!
We played this game with the family on Christmas eve.We had a BLAST!!There's nothing like a Big Red Pawn laughing at your misery to make your night complete.Lots of laughs and unexpected fun with this game.

Starts off a little complicated to understand the rules for the different cards but once you get the hang of it this game ROCKS!!! ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars Risk Tin is weak
I was very disappointed with the Risk Tin.Risk itself is a great game, but the tin, board, and pieces in this set are very weak. The army figures are small, cheap, plastic. The cards are smaller than normal and the board is disappointingly dull and cheap looking. The tin is thin and did not hold up well in the shipping process. It is not worth the $30 dollars I paid for it.Buy a different version, this one is weak.

5-0 out of 5 stars THIS IS THE BEST GAME EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I LOVE THIS GAME!!! i got it for Christmas and we played it right away! . The tin dox is really cool and the pieces are in colored plastic cases. the entire map is re-done.This is the best version you can get. I looked everywhere for the 40th Anniversary edition, but could not find it. This is a MUST!!!

4-0 out of 5 stars Not worth it
Risk is a game of world domination. You gather your army and battle one to five other opponents. This game can last for hours. If you love strategy and getting on you friends nerves this is the game for you. If not, I recommend looking elsewhere because this game WILL get the worst out of you.

This tin version has little going for it. You will be paying more and the only difference is the plastic token boxes are round instead of rectangular and a weak Tin Box.

I collect games and I am telling you this is not worth it.

Now if you can get your hands on the RISK 40th Anniversary Collector's Edition that's another story.

That version comes with:
1 An Awesome, Re-drawn, Numbered Board.

2 A real nice booklet that states RISK's history, photos, rules for Capital Risk, rules for experts and information on how to get RISK tournament rules.

3 Mission Cards Pak.

4 Strategy Tips Cards.

5 Six armies 384 strong. Cast in metal, 50 infantry, 10 Calvary and 4 cannons. All historically accurate and finely detailed.

6 Six drawstring color pouches, to store armies.

7 Redesigned cards and dice.

8 Letter of authenticity

That is a Deluxe Collector's Edition worthy of an Emperor!

So unless you have a Tin fetish, skip this version and look for the 40th Anniversary Edition. You will love it. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Spanish Monopoly Review
This is really a great game... it's perfect for any students taking Spanish and could be used during down time in a classroom.Unfortunately, they do not put any Spanish places on the board, it is just translated American sites. But it's still really fun!

5-0 out of 5 stars Been around for many years
I have been using Spanish Monopoly for many years. From Madrid, as a matter of fact, not the version you see advertised here, though it was manufactured by this company. It's fun, entertaining, educational, the students just love it, and I drag it out in Spanish class year after year after year.

4-0 out of 5 stars Mr. Monopoly Speaks Spanish?!
Wow! Monopoly in Spanish! I never knew this even existed but here it is! Monopoly is a great game that's played all over the world, so I think it's great that the rules are available to those who speak Spanish. No cheating now.....don't fool those who don't speak Spanish! ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Great for Nemo fans, but better for older kids
I bought this for my almost-3 year old daughter b/c she loves 'finding nemo'. The way we play memory with her is we take out about 10-12 cards and play a game with those, as obviously playing with all the cards would make the game too difficult and not enjoyable. But my main complaint about this particular version is that a lot of the cards look very similar but are subtley different. For instance, there are about 4 different variations of a Nemo card. So I would recommend this set to a slightly older child and pick a simpler set, where all of the cards are markedly different (like the Disney themed set, which we also have) for the 3 year old crowd. Otherwise, my daughter loves it as all children this age seem to love playing Memory. ... Read more

~It is SUCH an awesome game!!!! It's EXTREMLY fun to do with friends or if you just need something to do!!! I LOVED IT!!!~

5-0 out of 5 stars This game ROCKS!!
First time I played this game, I borrowed it from my 11 year old cousin to bring to a get together with some of my old high school friends (I'm 22). My friends and I couldn't put the magazines down.We played for a good hour and a half and laughed the whole time.We did have to add magazines of our own, but that just made the game more interesting.I highly recommend it to girls young and old.PS. My 11 year old cousin LOVES it!!

5-0 out of 5 stars What a *BLAST*!!
This game is so much fun to play! It's so different from any other girl's game out there. What a great idea, a scavenger hunt with magazines!!It comes with 4 magazines, but you can play with other teen magazines you have laying around the house and it makes the game stay new each time you play.I cannot imagine any teen girl not enjoying it. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars GREAT GAME!!!LOTS OF FUN!!!
I bought this game for my daughter's 8th birthday. Our family has had great fun playing it.She loves it and so does her 5 year-old brother!I can't wait until she plays it with her friends.I know they will have lots of laughs and giggles!I would recommend this game for families also.If an adult reads the questions, even young children can play.

4-0 out of 5 stars Good Girlfriend Game
I picked this up on sale for my almost 10 year-old daughter. She and her friends, as well as her 13 year-old cousins and 8 year-old sister, have had a great time playing with it.It is not really a "competitive" type game, more of a " chatting, talking, being silly" kind of activity. It would be great for a sleepover. It does occasionally malfunction, but if you just reset it, it does fine.

Even some of the male cousins played with it, but we just had to change some of the questions.I recommend it for a "girly good time."

5-0 out of 5 stars An awesome game for everyone!
This game was awesome! You read a question, select your answer, and then pass it around to your friends so they can answer it. The device keeps track of many players at a time and records their scores. I loved the sounds and light, as well as the funny, wacky, and insightful questions! I found no problem with it at all and everyone loved it; my friends, siblings, and parents. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Awesome individual game
I have a 2 1/2 year old and a 18 month old. I bought this for my 2 1/2 year old just on a whim. She loves it and it gives me time to get a few things done while she's playing. It's very cute and she likes to dance to the song.
It's pretty educational. Although, I think she might be a tad bit too old for it, but who cares as long as she's having fun?!
I think it's fantastic toy and well worth the price!

5-0 out of 5 stars Great "game" for a 2 year old...
We had bought this handheld game for our 'almost' 2 year old daughter to put in her stocking on Christmas, however, as you can tell from the date of this review - we gave it to her early!LOL!

She loves animals - so I knew she would love this 'game'.She has pretty much mastered it - but that does not stop her from wanting to play with it time and time again. She loves that she can match the baby animals with their mommys and she LOVES hearing the sounds that the animals make! She also really likes to sing along with the song "Old Macdonald"!

The three different game levels are easy for a 2 year old to understand. The first is just going through the animals - pushing a button and then listening as it sings through the 'Old Macdonald" song - putting in the name of the animal that was pushed. The second game level is matching the Mommy and babies!VERY CUTE!And my daughters FAVORITE game! The game will say something like, "Can you help the mommy horse find her baby?" and when the correct button is pushed it will sing through the song again. The third game is a sound matching game.It will ask you "who's mommy makes a sound like this" and then it will make the sound of one of the animals and then the child is to identify which animal makes that sound.Again, when the correct 'button' is pushed it will sing through the song.

Overall - it's a great game and can keep a child entertained for a good period of time! ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars MY DAUGHTER LOVES THIS GAME!!
I bought this game for my 4-year-old daughter, since she is such a big My Little Pony fan...and it was an instant hit! While I agree that many of the ponies look very similar, one could argue that it encourages children to pay attention to small differences, be more discerning. The downside (?) is that this thing has about a million little pony cards....which could mean that this game could go on forever....!!Just kidding, it's a great inexpensive toy for friends of the ponies.

2-0 out of 5 stars Too many purple ponies
We received this game as a gift and discovered that this version of Memory is different from the original in one very important and disappointing way. While there are as many cards as the original version, the vast majority of the cards look the same:pink, purple, and pale blue ponies with slight variations in the colors of the manes. There are a few other objects, such as ladybugs, flowers, and butterflies, but there are also near-duplicates of each of those. For example, there is one ladybug pair with a bit of pink gingham background, and then another pair with the same ladybug and a pale green gingham background.Overall, the amount of similarity between the cards makes this an extremely difficult and tiresome game for all but the most devoted (and knowledgable) fans of My Little Pony. This version tips the balance between game and marketing gimmick, and the game loses out to an advertising ploy directed at toddlers and preschoolers.I'd highly recommend the original version instead.

5-0 out of 5 stars Cute game w/lots of cards!
This game is just your basic memory card game with pictuers of ponies and butterflys to match. In my opinion there are just too many cards to lay them all out at once,so you may want to pick some of the matches out and not use every single card. The upside to this is that if some get lost you still have plenty left to keep playing. ... 4-0 out of 5 stars Classic Game
This Game really taught me a lot about the world of business and it is a great game overall. You have to play this game with a competitive spirit and with others who like to win.

I still have the original version from long ago and I bought this one to see how its been changed.I think that anyone who gets serious about board games should own this.

3-0 out of 5 stars Not as bad as others think
So this isn't the greatest game in the world, but it isn't the worst either. My sister and I have had fun playing it the past couple days. Its a lot like Monopoly but is a lot shorter. It adds to the auction the classic "You're fired" from the Apprentice, which is fun to say to your opponent to get them out of the bidding. However, it does take a while to set up and the rules were confusing at first.I would advise buying it from Wal-Mart instead of on here, since I got the game for only $17.50 there.

1-0 out of 5 stars PS
So I didn't finish what I needed to say so here it is. I am selling this item on Ebay for a penny if anybody wants it. It is very useful for making a fire or a foot rest. Maybe you could use the T pieces to make a key chain or a necklace so you can always remember that you played a game that was too boring and advanced for you. The game has never been played before, I tried but had an aneurism. Please buy this game and HAPPY NEW YEAR! ... Read more

  • The Game Folio Edition plays the same as Yahtzee with the benefit of the felt-lined case, quiet rolling cup and dice holder that aides play in travel or public.

Reviews (3)

5-0 out of 5 stars Like the original Deluxe Yahtzee but in a portable size.
I originally resisted buying this version of Yahtzee but eventually gave in because I love this game so much. The Folio Edition zips open to reveal a handy pocket sleeve for both instruction manual and a Deluxe Yahtzee scorepad, with room for another scorepad or two, a loop holding a pencil with "Yahtzee" in beautiful, shiny red letters and a sturdy built-in tray lined with red felt at the bottom. Dice holder compartments are conveniently positioned below the tray's recessed roll area. The dice are an attractive cream color, nicely designed and sized with bold black pips, and rounded corners. The dice cup is well shaped and sized, shaded a beautiful red on the outside and felt-lined black inside. The zipper handle is covered with a firm, spongy material with the "Yahtzee" logo in raised letters making the zipper easier to grasp when opening or closing the folio. A wonderful touch!

Its portable size ensures that you can take it and play anywhere, although the Folio when closed is a bit bulky. The game description claims that the felt-lined dice cup and dice tray softens the noise the dice makes, making play quieter. This is true for the dice cup and the dice tray bottom, but the dice tray is made of a hard plastic, and if the dice hit the wall of the tray, it is slightly loud, but this is only a minor complaint, and makes less noise when fewer dice are tossed in the tray or if they are tossed gently. When you are finished playing, the game zips closed with ease and the dice fit in the dice holder compartments, but I prefer to keep them in a small plastic zipper bag designed for dice stored in the dice cup.

Overall, the game has a classy and sophisticated look and feel; the makers did a splendid job with the Yahtzee Folio Game, it is beautiful! The sturdy design and ease of play of this edition is excellent for both Yahtzee lovers and first time players at home or anywhere you wish to play.

5-0 out of 5 stars Take It Anywhere!
This is one of the games my friends and I played to death. It is very fun and simple, yet having some mathematical skills on probabilities doesn't hurt. The purpose of the game is to fill your score sheet as much as possible by making the different combinations required. The more you do the higher the score, and multiple yahtzee's (five of a kind) scores you bonuses. There are different editions of this game but this one is the best. Here is why:

REDESIGNED:This edition of Yahtzee comes with a felt-lined cup and tray. Remember how loud it is to use the plastic cup in the original edition? Well now it's very quiet and the tray keeps the dice from going everywhere. The dice are over size which is a nice touch. It also has a dice keeper where you can place the dice you will not re-roll.

PLAYING MATERIALS: The folio comes with a score pad and an engraved pencil. But it also has room to store more pencils and pads. You can even store a Triple Yahtzee pad if you have any. Triple Yahtzee is kind of a Yahtzee Advanced that isn't sold anymore although you can still find the scoring pads and instructions on the net (which is all you need).

PORTABLE: You can drag this game anywhere. And since you can play solo it's great to take to your doctor's appointment. That is if you don't mind people asking where you got that cool Yahtzee game. It's perfect for travel and the zippered case is very nice and durable.

Overall the game is great and this folio edition is a must buy for any Yahtzee fan. By the way I saw someone once roll three yahtzees in a row and finish with ten yahtzees in a six round game. I know you can do better... if you try. Have Fun!

5-0 out of 5 stars Fun on the run!!
My step-daughter and I recently had to take a fairly long flight with a 2-hour "lay-over".I bought this version of Yahtzee to take along since we both love the game.It was perfect for use on the flight because it was neatly self contained; dice, score sheets, padded dice shaker and well lined pocket to shake them in to. Since it was so easy to take anywhere, we rarely got bored when my husband had business to take care of.Watching her use strategy and taking what she learned from previous games was great.....it taught me a few things as well. This is a perfect travel companion.I'm buying another one for my son. ... 4-0 out of 5 stars OK GAME
This is an ok kids handheld game.I agree w/everyone else that it definately needs an off switch. My daughter keeps hers in my car so instead of sounding off in the middle of the night it sounds off with every turn I make! Also sometimes my daughter is trying to push the buttons to select the answer and they do not work. She is continuously yelling "I did push it!" as if the game can understand her:)Overall it is a good idea though and has different levels for beginers. You can just chose different body parts to make a silly potato or it will flash an already made potato and then you have to choose the correct parts, very good memory game(plus some more games that I have not personally tested). It is a little loud and of course being a potato head ithas an annoying voice but has been well played with by my 4 year old.

5-0 out of 5 stars my son never laughed so hard
My son recently received this as a second hand gift from his 7 year old cosin. The toy lasted 3 solid years in her hands and only 4 days in my son's. Only due to the fact that he hit the screen with a toy hammer. This toy captured my son's attention. He actually sat in one spot motionless for almost an hour. I have never heard my son laugh so hard as to when Mr. Potato head sneezes and says,"oops, I've lost all my parts". As for the "off" switch, it turns itself off there fore saving the batteries, and it only turns itself back on unprovoked when the batteries are dying.

5-0 out of 5 stars A busy Mom
My daughter is five and loves this toy. I was actually shocked to see so many poor reviews. The automatic shut off isnt that bad, it's actually a blessing if you ask me, It prompts the child to play (pay attention) about 4 times and then shuts itself off.

My daughter loves the different activities it offers, and she just totally gets a kick out of making Mr. Potato head dress silly. ... Read more

Aunt Agatha has died and left you and 15 of her other relatives a fortune. Unfortunately, you have to go to her mansion to try to collect the money without getting "bumped off" by your greedy kin. Players move around the board (the mansion) trying to avoid pitfalls and trying to trap their opponents as they escape the house with the inheritance. A certain amount of bluffing and strategy makes this creepy game fun for older players, making for a perfect family game. 1313 Dead End Drive, for two to four players, comes with a game board, 5 traps, 16 pawn stands, 4 clips, 48 cards, 2 parts sheets, a pair of dice, and a decorative label sheet. 2-0 out of 5 stars Not worth the trouble.
I got this game for my nephew who had just turned 8.It has been taken out the box only once.It was very difficult and time consuming to put together and then rather difficult to play.He did okay with it, but his little sister, age 5, was unable to play at all.I would not reccomend this game for the mentioned age groups, maybe 10 and up.

3-0 out of 5 stars Ok for Under 12
This game was an OK game.I bought it so my 10 year old could havea game to play with the rest of the family. He thought it was fun but the rest of the family were bored with it.The one rule that allows you to go into the same space more than once on a turn causes the game to be less exciting than if that were not allowed.Over all, I would say this is an average game, no better than some, no worse than others.

5-0 out of 5 stars Another fun one, and not just for kids.
My family and I (my two brothers, my mother, and I--all over the age of 30) really enjoy playing board games.Especially around the Holidays. So I picked this one up for Christmas when it was on sale. We've only played it once so far, but had a great time with it.My younger brother actually asked to borrow it to play with his 30-something friends! It doesn't have any obvious educational value, but does get you to think strategy--do you get your heirs out early and hope everyone else gets trapped inside the mansion, or do you worry about "knocking off" the other players. The board does take a little bit of set-up time, but I'm use to that.(My job on Christmas morning has always been assembling toys and applying stickers, so....)Once you know where everything goes, it doesn't take long to set-up.I realize the "walls" could get a little worn over time, but if you're careful with set-up, there shouldn't be any problems. And I just love all the little traps, too. ... Editorial Review

The luck of the draw and a steady hand--these are the keys to success in this Spanish version of the classic board game Operation. The raised game board itself is exactly the same as the English version, featuring the same hapless patient with the bulging red nose that lights up when a player slips and touches the metal sides around each game piece with the "surgical" tweezers. Along with a stack of play money, the game comes with a deck of game cards that determine what surgical procedure each player will have to perform. All of the game's body parts and ailments are labeled in Spanish, including Aguas con la rodilla (water on the knee) and Corazón herido (broken heart). The game's instruction booklet is also printed in Spanish only, so at least one player will have to be well-versed in the language in order to read through the game rules. Requires two D batteries (not included). --Chris Burns ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Girl Talk Never Disappoints - It's A Hoot!
I bought Girl Talk years ago for a niece. She loves it so much she is keeping her original as a keepsake. I recently needed another gift for a 10 year old girl. I bought Girl Talk which was played at a sleepover for her birthday. The kids had a blast. Her mom thanked me because she didn't have to find things for them to do. They played until midnight then fell asleep. Girl Talk is a game that makes it easy for everyone to participate at their own comfort level. It's a good way to help shy girls feel more comfortable in a group. A+

5-0 out of 5 stars Girl Talk ...Ah.. the memories!
This game is a must for teen and pre-teen girls! This game has been around a long time and the fun just increases with age. The questions and challanges are up to date and will keep you laughing and entertained for hours. I played it with my daughter and I don't know who laughed the hardest? Girl Talk is a great slumber party game.

5-0 out of 5 stars Fun for years!
I'm 27 years old, and I'm so happy to find they still make this game!I remember playing it many times with one of my best friends when I was in elementary and junior high school.Girl Talk was so much fun!I do seem to remember that some of the "dares" involved calling boys and perhaps prank calls.Perhaps another reviewer can weigh in on this? But aside from that, I remember it as good, wholesome fun. ... 3-0 out of 5 stars A little difficult and not much to hold your interest
I remember having an ants in the pants toy when I was young so when I saw this SpongeBob version I thought my 4 year old would love it since she loves everything Spongebob.

It was way to difficult for her to be able to get the ants to fly. But even my 6, 7 and 9 year old had trouble with it. They are usually very easy to please and enjoy most games and toys. But they found this to be a little difficult and just not enough to keep them interested for more than about 3 or 4 minutes. Now these kids are not the type that get bored easily or are hard to please but this one didn't do it for them at all. ... Read more
