Educational and Fun - The Perfect Choice
My daughter is almost 3 years old and "Santa" gave her this present for Christmas.At first, she wasn't that interested, but when she came to me to pretend that one of her toys was "broken" (it wasn't really), I told her to get her tools.As an industrial craftsman, I explained (as best I could) what the purposes of the various tools were.After she pretended to fix her toy, I showed her how to change the bit on the cordless drill motor so that it could be used as a cordless screwdriver.Then, I showed her how the cordless screwdriver could be used on the plastic bolt and plastic nut.After a few minutes, she picked up the concept and was able to do it herself.The reversing switch on the drill is a nice touch that allows it to either drive the bolts into the nuts, or remove the bolts from the nuts.The box wrench comes in handy here as well.This is a fantastic product that I hope does not get permanently discontinued.

Loads of fun for your little builder
Even though this is recommended for ages 3+ because of the small parts, my son has had this since about 20 months. He LOVES playing with all the "power" tools and screwing things together. My only complaint is that these tools don't have enough "wood" and "screw" bits to make it fun to play with for more than 20-30 minutes. (Battat makes toy trucks and planes that screw together using similar tools.) Other than that, he gets a big kick out of helping Daddy and having his own set of tools. My son loves it, but it's WAY too loud
My son loves this toy, and we haven't had any durability problems (and we've had it for about 6 months). My only complaint is that the toy is extremely loud.

This is a horrible present
I bought this as gift for my nephew, who loves to act like he is weedeating.Well the toy only lasted for about an hour before it broke.The shaft broke and I plan on returning it.I can't believe a toy that is broken so easily is still being sold.I won't be buying anymore toys made by this company again. He was so upset that it broke, so now he has to pretend with sticks again.If I could have rated this toy any lower I would have given it less than one star.

Very Disappointing!!!
My son also had this toy for about 3 days before it broke.The shaft broke in half, but because he loved it so much I decided to buy another one.This one lasted longer, maybe 2 weeks before it broke also.I continued to let him play with it because he loved it so.Soon though the round bottom part began to crack and all the little beads would come out whenever he turned it on.Will not buy another one.Very cheap manufacturing, especially for a toy geared towards little ones. ... Loud!
We bought this leaf blower for my 2-and-a-half-year-old son who loves to watch people blow leaves.It was a huge hit.After he opened it he didn't want to open any other gifts.My only complaint about this toy is that it is SO loud and there is no volume adjustment!We have many toys that make sounds, but this is crazy.While I appreciate the "reality" of the sounds, they need to be toned down a bit so the adults can still hear themselves talk. ... great REAL tools for a child.
I bought this for my son on a recent trip to Toys R Us. This items was perfect because he had just spent the day before working on a project with his Grandad using my tools and they wee too large for him and he tired out very quickly. These are perfect because they are his size. Also these were great because everytime he saw Mommy or Grandad with their real tools and toolbox he wanted one of his own. I couldn't be happier with this purchase. Also to the reviewer who complained that they wee real tools and who would buy a child them it does state that in the item description and it's never too soon to teach safety.

A must for kids
I ordered this tool box for my 6 year old son. Everyday he uses it to create something wonderful. The tools are real and fit perfectly into little hands. This is the BEST toy he has ever had.

Wrong age group!
... Someone said that the tools are decent quality - not what I found to be true at all. You could put together the same set with about the same quality for ten dollars (box included) at a well known discount tool house. It does seem like a "cute" idea when you first see it. I have been in carpentry/construction for 30 years. If you know how to properly use tools, teach your child with your own and when responsibility and SAFETY are learned by the child and he/she shows an interest, begin buying a tool for the child now and then. Here's a realistic toy chainsaw, made of sturdy orange plasticwith a black handle and a blue knuckle guard. The "blade" is made ofsilver-colored plastic and has a kid-safe plastic chain. The chainsawhas three blue buttons. One press-type button makes an engine-y sort ofnoise that is truly loud and could be very satisfying for the would-belogger. Luckily it stops on its own after about five seconds. So doesthe trigger-type button on the handle that makes the chain on the blademove while making more saw-like sounds. This is where the realaction of the toy is, and it sounds very much like a real chainsaw. Thistoy has some nice heft, but it isn't too heavy for a preschooler. Not ideal for cutting up bodies...
When I got this I was like, REALLY excited, because I could finally hack up all those bodies I was hiding in the garage. Much to my surprise, the thing didn't even work! All it did was make "realistic" chainsaw sounds! What good does THAT do?! None, I say! I'd be better off using the dull pocket knife that one guy used to cut half his arm off with.

Great entertainment for a little boy
We bought the chain saw for a 2 yr old and he loves it! He still plays with it after a year.

Received this as a gag gift.... NOT funny!
My son (3) received this as a gift from my uncle who lives more than 100 miles away so he will never have to hear the racket that this toy makes. When my son opened this toy and started it up my uncle let out an evil laugh and and said "Do you wanna' kill me?!?!" He then told me that he only bought it as a joke to annoy me and gave my son his "real" gift.Anyway, this toy is waaaaaay too loud. I even think that it might exceed the acceptible decible level for a child's toy but that's just my opinion.Would I buy this toy for someone elses child? Well.... yes. Only if I was trying to pay back the parents for some type of wrong-doing, lol! Oh.... I made the batteries disappear out of this toy right after he received it. Just For Pretend
When you buy the item in the store the box says that it "really works".I was excited to get it for my son this past Christmas because he loves to help me clean.I was very disappointed to find out that what they call really works is a little air blowing through.It is quite durable because my son breaks everything a week after he receives it, but I could have bought a small adult shop vac for the same price and my son and I both would have been much happier.

Just like Dad's
My 3-year-old son absolutely loves this shop vac.He received it from Santa this year and used it all day Christmas Day.I have to admit he's a bit rough on toys and after reading the other person's review I thought maybe he might break it within a day, but no.It's still going strong.And it's still his favorite toy he received this christmas.

Avoid!
This Home Depot Shop Vac broke the first day.The long piece that you put attachements on snapped within an hour.We also bought the Home Depot Tool Box and it broke the next day!We have never had a toy break before so my only conclusion is that these toys are poorly made. ... Read more

Pleased
I love the fact that my nine-year old is having a great time learning while he plays.I thought this would be get for my husband and him to work on things, but somehow I have really started enjoying this time with my son.Our first project was the bird feeder.The tools have inspired us to get online and find out about Home Depots free workshops for kids.We don't plan to miss one!The tool box itself was not as durable as expected, but overall my son is happy.

Great buy!
My son loves this tool chest.He takes it with him everytime he goes to work with his dad.It is durable.

Just Like Daddy's
My daughter wanted a tool set just like her father's. I wanted something that she could handle without harming herself. This set was perfect. The tools are fully functional (I find myself using her screwdrivers more often than my own) and yet small enough for her at age 5 to use. bird house
My son received this kit for christmas.He had a blast painting and putting it together all by himself.We hung it up outside with the hope a bird would nest in the house.After 2 days of rain I found it on the ground in pieces.The wood soaked up the rain and split in half on each side.It broke my sons heart to see his hard work ruined.With something that has the Home Depot name on it, I would think it would be better quality. I wouldn't recommend any Home Depot project that is for real use.Sincerely, Mrs. Witt

Better Home Depot kits out there
We've gotten several of the Home Depot kits for my son, who's 12.The first kit he did was at school.He's autistic and his special ed aide said he loved doing it.The directions are simple enough that he could read and follow them.He loved it so much we bought the locomotive for him for Christmas last year.It kept him busy for an hour to an hour and a half.We got him a dump truck this year and it was the same thing.We also bought this kit so that all the kids could do one.The problem with this kit, however, was that the pieces on the bird feeder didn't quite fit, which only frustrated my kids.This kit was easier to put together than the others which might be a plus for some.Generally I love the Home Depot kits, but I would recommend choosing a different one. ... My children LOVE this durable, realistic tool set!!!!
I purchased this tool chest (loaded with durable, realistic, toddler-tough tools) for my son's third birthday.He plays with it every day and has "fixed" everything in the house!He works along side my husband as his assistant (and these tools can even do the real job)!!!My 2 year old daughter loves to use them as well.I am very impressed with the quality and craftsmanship of these tools.The chest is strong enough to hold my 38 lb. son as he stands on it to "fix" table tops and counters.GREAT TOY!!!!!!!

My little guy's favorite toy!!
I have an almost two year old.My parents bought this for him to play with at their house because he loves grandpa's real tools.It's by far the best toy he has - period.He loves all of the different tools that it comes with and they are very durable!I don't think it will ever wear out!He also has the power tool set that is separate.It lights up and he loves the noise it makes.This set really helps the young ones with coordination!!! ...
