5-0 out of 5 stars A Must Have for Us!
This is fabulous! Our son has loved it since he got as a Christmas gift at the age of 3 months. It's great for tummy time, and now that he's sitting but still a bit wobbly he's got a cushy place if he happens to tumble over while sitting and playing. He's also taken several naps in this when we've been away from home. It comes with a handy travel bag which is nice to have. We get tons of complements on the mat and everyone wants to know where we got it. I love it! It's one of my favorites! Wish I had it with my first son.

5-0 out of 5 stars Love it
Best gift ever.I had it on our registry and our Aunt & Uncle bought it for us.Our son has been fascinated with all the visiuals on both sides. The mirror is great for tummy time, he looks up at himself giggles now. He also rolls around to grab at the different attached toys.(beware kitties love them too)Worth every penny.Washes up nicely when you put machine a gentle. Our son is in it every day for wiggle time.

4-0 out of 5 stars lots of options
At first my infant was not entertained. He cried when he was very young. I think that the colors were to stimulating. Over time he started to enjoy it more. After he started crawling and I discontinued using a changing table for saftey reasons, I started using this circle as a changing pad on a bed or on the floor. It is great for changing using either side. The side with the morror distracts him as well as the side with the attached toys. It keeps him still for the time it takes to change his diaper....otherwise a hard feat for an active pre-toddler. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Lots of fun for my 13-month old!
My 13-month old loves this toy. He rec'd it when he was 11 months old and continues to discover new things about it. His 16-month old friend loves it too. I can tell he will still be discovering how to do different parts of it for some time now!

The speaker volume is too loud, though, but I solved that by placing some packing tape over it!

2-0 out of 5 stars Loud and obnoxious
My son likes this thing well enough, but it unmercifully has no off button.Nothing like accidentally tripping over it in the night and waking the whole house up.It's really loud and annoying. After a couple of weeks you'll hate it.But your kid won't.

4-0 out of 5 stars Nice toy but too loud
Our son loves playing with his busy box. The key to open the door is beyond a toddlers capability, but it's easy enough to leave the door open. My biggest concern is the volume level of the music and sounds played. It really is much too loud for a developing child. We'll be removing the batteries so that he can enjoy the box without damaging his hearing. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Another rave review!
This is an excellent and VERY STURDY toy for your child. Highly recommended for age 1.5 - 2.0 or thereabouts. My twin girls are a little late in developing fine motor skills, and these big sturdy pieces (with interesting rattles inside) have been great for playing while working on some important coordination and manipulation activities.

I didn't mind the short tether on the hammer - it helps keep them from using the hammer on stuff they shouldn't. :)

5-0 out of 5 stars Great, fun toy
This toy was given to our little one when he was two and he just loves it.It gives him an outlet to bang on something without destroying it and it really keeps him occupied for a little while. He loves the fact that it looks like a tool bench and that he has his own hammer. That hammer has whacked quite a few thngs around the house, including the cat, and it doesn't hurt anything like the drywall, baseboards, etc.Really a nice toy and one that won't destroy other things in the house. It's easier to use than the wooden ones plus you don't have to worry about splinters. Some of the nuts are harder to get through than the others, but it really makes a nice challenge for him.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent toy!
This toy is great! My son received this when he was a year old and now he is 13 months.Right now, he prefers to remove the shapes, shake them, and bang them together. As he gets older, I know that he will enjoy hitting the shapes in the bench, but he only does that occasionally now.It is a great value and definitely worth buying for your child. ... 4-0 out of 5 stars great in the car
My 3 month old had a hard time in the car until recently. Once she was able to focus on the colorful side of this playmat, she was occupied during car rides and no longer cried. Now, as soon as I put her in her carseat, she immediatley fixates on the mat and is quiet for our entire journey.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great for newborns
This playmat is terrific. My baby loved it from the day we brought her home from the hospital; she stared at the black-and-white patterned side for a half an hour at a time. It's especially handy, I think, that it folds into a triangle so that it's easy for the baby to lie on his or her back and look at it.If the baby gets bored with that view, you can just flip it to another side--one has a mirror that my baby loved. It's also very easy to transport and can be either tied or draped to the backseat of the car so your baby can look at it (regardless of whether your carseat faces front or back).

5-0 out of 5 stars Great as a Car decoration during trips!
The Busy Bee playmat has very colorful contrastful colors on one side and black and white images on the other. At 0-2months old my baby loves to look at the black & white patterns and is just now begining to like looking at the other colorful side.He stares at it and it keeps him occupied in the car- I just hang it up where he can see it.The drawbacks of this toy is that it is small so I believe it does not make a very good playmat & the velcro is rough- therefore it makes a much better decoration to look at than playmat. But I am glad I got it because, as I said, my baby loves to stare at it :-)

----> UPDATE: Now that my little guy is 6 months he loves this toy and it keeps him occupied in the car.I fold it up and put it on his lap in the carseat and he loves to grab at the little snakes on the edges and the butterfly!I highly recommend this toy!! ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Good Toy but WAY to big!
I recently bought this toy for my 10 month old son.I was wanting a toy for his stroller. When I took it out of the box and tried installing it on his stroller I could never get it to securely fasten and the toy is WAY to big.I let my son play with it anyway and he seemed to like it but not worth keeping.

I am going to return this item because of two reasons: 1) To big for the stroller and 2) Don't like the fastening straps.

1-0 out of 5 stars doesn't attach to a 20 lb +car seat
we received this toy as a gift for a 1 year old daughter who liked to pretend she was driving.it didn't attach to a 20lb+ car seat. so obviously, it didn't stay in our child's lap for very long, and it would drop to the side. it wasn't entertaining either. we ended up selling it at a garage sale for $1. and instead we bought the mickey mouse driving wheel roadster that lights up and plays tunes, and it was an instant hit.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great doll house
My mother-in-law bought this for my daughter for christmas. She will be 3 in March. It is such a cute little house. Its not so big or bulky that it is in the way yet it is big enough to play with. Another plus is that there are no small pieces. Just the dolls (with permenant clothing) and the furniture. So simple to put together in minutes! Maybe 6-8 screws.

I cant think of 1 bad thing to say about it. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Good Toy for the Price
We bought this toy as a Christmas gift for our almost 3 year old and he LOVES it!Even our 11 month old likes it (he uses it to help him walk).I think it is a fairly sturdy toy, but I could see how it may not last long for children that are rough with it.My son has already ripped some of the cardboard food boxes because he HAD to check if there was actually food in them.So those may not last as long as the cart. But overall, I think it is a pretty good toy for the price.

4-0 out of 5 stars Flexible enough to let kids play their own way
Our 3 children have had hours of fun with this toy during the 2+ years we've had it in our home.True, the food is long gone (cardboard boxes - toddlers - no surprise there). We've also needed lash the front piece on with some string (again, it's not constructed to be a bumper car but toddlers don't often keep their play inside the box). The simple design means that when they twist it beyond reason, it's flexible enough for me to pop it back into alignment. It's small enough to be comfortable for the 2 year old to push(for hours), and close enough to the real thing to remain interesting for a 5-6 year old. It's gender neutral, forgiving enough to go down a flight of stairs (repeatedly) without breaking, light enough to not squish whatever's at the bottom.... and sometimes they do even use it to play grocery.

5-0 out of 5 stars Love It
We got this cart a year ago and it has held up great with the use of two girls 2 and 3.5 at the time we got it.The food didn't last long, but the cart has been great. We have had no problems with it coming apart. They load it with everything from full soda cans to all sorts of real food from the pantry. ... Read more

Editorial Review

This 5-inch-square musical jack-in-the-box--in bright blue, red, yellow, and green--packs a lot of surprises. Hold the easy-grip handle, wind the crank (the round knob makes it easy for little fingers to grab), and it plays "This Old Man." A smiling clown pops up at unpredictable intervals and can be pushed back down easily. As if that weren't entertainment enough, there's a yellow button on one side of the box that squeaks when you push it and a yellow star on the other side that clicks when you turn it. Turn the whole toy upside down so your little tyke can find her own smiling face in the safety mirror. Made of plastic; easy to clean. --Elisabeth Fredrickson ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Still havin' fun!
I bought this toy USED for my son when he was one year old; it was in perfect working condition. He loved the surprise of the clown popping out of the box!He also peeked at himself in the mirror, "beeped" the horn, and spun the clicking star. The handle made it easy for him to pick up and bring to us when he wanted to see the clown pop out. Now, he is two, and it is still a big hit because he is finally able to operate the entire toy by himself. It has been over a year since we bought it (second hand!), and it is still in perfect working condition.I would recommend this to any mom who is looking for a first jack in the box for her baby or toddler--the most ideal time to teach cause and effect.

1-0 out of 5 stars Poor mechanics
We have owned this Jack in the box for about a month and a half. The music has already stopped working and we didn't even play with it on a daily basis, much less on a weekly basis.I wouldn't recommend this toy.

3-0 out of 5 stars Wouldn't buy this toy.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great toy for "grabbers".
We received this set as a Christmas gift 2004 for our 5 month- old twins. As each baby has a different developmental growth, they both love them in different ways.

They are easy to grab & hold on to.Great for one that is teething and great for the other that likes to squeeze everything in sight.

Both babies love them during tummy time and sitting up time- they aren't to the "stacking" stage, but love them just the same.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great blocks for babies and toddlers!
I bought these blocks for my 5 month old (who seems to like them well enough, so far!)...but I had no idea what a hit they'd be with my 2-1/2 year old.He loves to build all kinds of things with them, knock them down, talk about the colors, remember what's behind each of the peek-a-boo doors...and even put them away in their handy storage pouch.I think the manufacturer says they're good for up to 3-year-olds, and I completely agree. These have become one of my son's favorite toys (right up there with Legos) and I expect my daughter will enjoy them (in different ways, at different stages) over the next few years.I would highly recommend these.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great multi purpose toy and soft too!
This is the perfect block set for small babies. Interesting textures, peek-a-boo windows and pictures fascinate my daughter and I don't have to worry about her falling on them as she toddles by.I looked for blocks like these for my first child but couldn't find them. ... Read more

Editorial Review

This is an activity toy that will get used, thanks to its multitude of entertaining, developmentally challenging functions; and it has a clean, happy design that'll please parents, too. The plastic tray has four shapes that can be removed from their respective holes and replaced. Each shape has an adorable, simple picture of a farm animal. When the shape is placed correctly, the animal can be pushed to sound a realistic "moo" or "oink." There's a musical function, too, where a song is played instead of an animal noise. The shapes themselves make cute rattles when they're removed. And if that weren't enough, when you flip the thing over, there's a selection of the old reliable baby-amusers: a rotary dial, a mirror, and a line of beads. The whole affair is topped off with a nice carrying handle. Highly recommended. --Claire Dederer ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars WONDERFUL TOY!!!
My mom bought this toy for my 13 month old daughter. She absolutely LOVES it!She loves pushing the animals to hear the sounds they make, taking the shapes out and shaking them (they rattle), and turning it over to play with the items on the other side.It entertains her for a good 30 minutes, which is quite long for a 13 month old.I read that some people were not as impressed with it, but I have not had 1 problem.I would recommend this toy to everyone!

3-0 out of 5 stars Not as great as the reviews would have you believe
I was surprised that this toy got such good reviews, because I am not at all impressed with it. I thought that both of my sons (12 mos. and almost 3 years) would enjoy it, but neither has spent much time with it, despite enjoying other shape sorters - plus, one loves music, the other loves animals/making animal sounds. The shapes are hard to get out, and this frustrates my 1-year-old son. And I was disappointed that the music doesn't play when the shape is inserted; you have to press the shape after putting it in to get the music to play (or bypass that, and push the little button to get the music without even doing the shapes).

5-0 out of 5 stars My toddler approves!
My son is 15 months now and has played with this toy for several months. It has helped teach him animal names and sounds, and he enjoys the music it plays. He also likes the shape sorting, as well as the activities on the other side (a clicking wheel, etc.). We take this toy with us on trips because it provides good entertainment value for its size. ... 4-0 out of 5 stars The best purchase I've made so far!
As an early childhood educator, I must say this product has the most for the money. There are at least 4 different educational uses.My son began using it around 13 months and continued until about 20 months. He loved discovering that the wooden dowels fit into the holes of the blocks and the table -early lacing skills! As he got older, he enjoyed the activities of stacking the blocks and the shape sorter. These strengthened fine motor development and eye-hand coordination.Cognitive skills can be worked on by counting, and matching the colors and shapes. It was also great that he found other toys, like plastic rings that fit on the dowels too. More than one child or adult can play so this encourages social skills. Clean up time was simple when the center is used for storage. The only thing that disappointed me was that the cover for the center starage area did not fit. As for the 4 star rating on fun - I'm not big on electronic toys but if you have them, you will understand that this may not be the first toy your child runs to. It also doesHowever, if you kneel on the floor next to him to encourage and provide positive feeback, he'll learn much more than what an electronic toy can teach. Thank you Small World Toys! ... I bought this for my daughter when she was just over 2.She hated taking a bath, so I thought this would help.Well, one year later, she still loves this doll.It is her favorite, despite all of the other, more expensive, dolls she has. This is her "Sophie" and she adores her.The accessories are fun and we still give "Sophie Tubbies."She also cares for Sophie all the time so it teaches her empathy and caring.I love the doll as much as she does now!

5-0 out of 5 stars This is a great doll for a toddler
This doll is a perfect size for a toddler. It comes with great accessories. Everything is well made. And she is not made from that smelly awful plastic, it odor free and she is slightly soft to the touch. She has a pleasant expression and is just the right size for little hands. Her eyes even open and close. My two year old was thrilled with her. One caution - the bar of soap is small enough to be a choking hazard (I just removed it from the soap dish).
