Honk! Honk! It's gridlock and the little red car can't move. The player is a traffic cop in the Rush Hour Traffic Jam Puzzle wherethe objective is to get the red car off the road. To play, pick one of40 challenge cards; solutions are printed on the back of each card. Then set up the cars and buses in a specified pattern on the6-inch-square road grid. Move the vehicles one by one (obey those trafficlaws!) until the red car can escape the traffic jam. There are fourlevels of difficulty. Kids can alternate turns with another player orjust "play in traffic" alone. The game from Binary Arts received anational award from Mensa and is used in elementary school mathclasses. The design includes clear instructions printed on the sturdybox, which can be used both as a playing tray and for storage. The gamecards stow away in a drawer in the road grid. This is a 1999 Parents'Choice recommended toy. --Marcie Bovetz ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent intelligent game for all ages !!
Games has a simple objective -- get the Red car out of traffice. And boy! it is difficult and changelling at higher level. Set up the *cars* as described in cards and figure out a way to get the Red Car out.The best thing is complexity raange from very easy to very hard. So it captures kids interests and provides the extra incentive to move to the next level !!

Simple rules -- once you have placed the cars on the Grid, you can only move them forward or backward.

A great addition to this game is "Rush Hour 2, 3 and 4 Gift Pack" for less than $12/-. Each set has 40 cards or in total 120 different levels. The highest level is really really difficult. Meant for the "Pros" only !!!

5-0 out of 5 stars Awesome Game!!
I first encountered this game at a friends house while I was house-sitting, and I tell you...without it, I think I would have lost mt mind!It is basic yet challenging all at the same time...and it really is for all ages!Since I bought it off amazon.com, my niece and my father-in-law have both enjoyed the thrill of playing Rush Hour.I would strongly recommend this game for anyone who thinks they would be too good for this game...cause they won't be!!

5-0 out of 5 stars Great fun and awesome game!!!
My husband and I gave this game to our daughter for Christmas. When she first unwrapped the present she looked uninterested. Later that day she pulled it out and asked what it was about. We got it out and tried it out. Instantly she was hooked as was I. This game is really a great game, but it is also a wonderful educational product. It truly teaches thinking skills and as a homeschool parent I can truly appreciate that. I highly recommend this for anyone regardless of where or how your children are schooled!!!! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Game!!
My daughter got this game for her 3rd birthday. She and her 4-year-old sister love to play this game daily!!Now I am buying more to give as birthday gifts to friends/family.

5-0 out of 5 stars A Great Gift that Kids Love
I bought this game for my children several years ago on the advice of the owner of my favorite toy store.I love board games, and my children were 3 and 5 then, and just starting to enjoy them as well.Well, we couldn't get the kids to stop playing Zingo. They played quietly for more than 2 hours.Since you can play with up to 8 players, we have had lots of neighborhood kids playing the game out on the front steps.Since then, I have bought at least 10 Zingo games -- I have given them to all my children's friends and I always keep a few around to give out for birthday gifts.Everyone loves this game.

5-0 out of 5 stars great design, great fun
This preschooler variation of the old favorite Bingo is a real winner.

Zingo cards have a 3 by 3 grid that shows pictures and words.Cards have a yellow side (easier, for younger kids) and a red side for the odler ones. The plastic game piece dispenser is well-designed and fun to use.Players shout out to claim a piece, which is then placed over the appropriate square on the player's card. There are several play variations.

Excellent game for the younger set, and fun for older children and adults as well. ... Read more

This is a strategy game with a twist--if you lose, you'relunch. You've taken your trusty Safari Rover deep into the bush; nowmaneuver it through the maze of hungry animals and get back to camp inone piece. An 8-by-7.25-inch plastic game tray forms a kind of grid foryour vehicle and the 3-D plastic animal pieces (including elephants, rhinos, and a termite mound). Draw one of 50 cards (10 of which areextra-easy, for younger players) to determine the initial board setup. Then move pieces, according to strict rules, to make your escapethrough the only exit. A cloth bag for all the game pieces is included.--Richard Farr ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Fun but bulky
Our family truly enjoys the Rush Hour game and tried this one as well - it is bigger and bulkly and convenient for travel.I alos find the puzzles to be a bit easier. The pieces don't slide as well as Rush Hour.

5-0 out of 5 stars Good toy for everyone
I knew this game at a friend's house and love it even I was 30 already at that time.I bought several when I went back to visit my family and they all love it.When I told my mom that I would give my brother's 1st grad boy a set, she told me he won't like it since he doesn't like the brain games. But he loves it soon after my sister explain to him the rules and he enjoys to do it.My little one, almost 23 months old now, likes those animals and loves to put all of those animals to the board one by one and kind of learn the size and arrange the place. It's not only for 8 and up.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great game; an attention grabber

1-0 out of 5 stars I am sorry I bought this game
My grandson is 11 and he just isn't interested in this game.I bought both of the River Crossing games, for Christmas, and he hasn't even looked at the second one.

5-0 out of 5 stars River Crossing Is VERY Addicting!
I received this game for Christmas, and I hadn't even asked for it.I absolutely LOVE it.

The game consists of the main puzzle tray, plastic stumps, a little magnetic man, 5 magnetic plastic boards of different sizes, 40 puzzle cards (ranging in difficulty), and a carrying bag to store everything (which comes in handy!).

This game really gets you thinking, and you actually find yourself thinking AHEAD by many moves. The object of the game is to get the little man from one side of the river, to the other. You do so, by moving planks from stump to stump.Sometimes you have to drop a plank off at a convenient location, just to pick it up later on when you need it.

I started playing it and couldn't stop!Once you start getting the hang of it, you find yourself wanting to continue as you figure out the easier puzzles.I must say, that as they become more difficult, you REALLY need to think ahead by looking at the pieces you need towards the "end" of the crossing.Don't drag boards that you don't need (and DON'T drop them in places that hinder your crossing!).

I definitely recommend this game for people who enjoy puzzles, or games in general. The harder puzzles may be too difficult for a younger child to enjoy, and they may get bored with it.ALSO- there are MANY small parts that could be a choking hazard for small children.Make sure you keep the parts in the bag, and keep it out of reach!

5-0 out of 5 stars River Crossing - Another hit from ThinkFun!
ThinkFun succeeds once again, with a simple idea... lay down logs to find a path from start to finish across the river.Place your logs carefully, and you'll get where you need to go, but don't get in your own way, and you can't jump over the water.40 challanges included (plus 40 more in River Crossing 2!), that will keep even adults busy for quite a while.

Highly recommended for those visual / spatial gifted kids, and thier parents ;-)Stores in it's own nylon bag, a plus, since there are more than a few loose pieces.

With five levels of play, from junior to expert, Railroad RushHour offers a challenge for kids and grownups alike. The puzzle consists of a sturdy plastic grid, 40 puzzle cards (with solutions on the back) for ages 8 and older, 10 junior challenge cards for ages 6 to 8, 17 brightly colored blocking trains, two blocking baggage platforms, a blue-and-white striped travel pouch, and "you," the little red escape locomotive. 5-0 out of 5 stars Railroad Rush Hour - new moves, new pieces, great fun!
Like Rush Hour, Railroad Rush Hour has you "escaping" the traffic jam... this time in the railroad yard, where the traffic can include rail cars and cargo.Rearrange the pieces to get the engine out.

40 challanges included; nylon bag stores pieces when not in use.Larger than Rush Hour pieces makes this puzzle easier to handle for eager young solvers. And with the new pieces, the challanges are all new and different, even for Rush Hour lovers!

5-0 out of 5 stars Teriffic fun, great value
This game really is great. My autistic 11-year-old gets
a good mental challenge and feeling of accomplishment out of it,
and I have fun as well.My only negative comment is regarding
travel. We've taken it on many plane trips, and it's great
because it fits in a small area to play as well as store, but
it has a lot of small parts (duh! :-), and they are easy to lose
track of when travelling. So be vigilant, and find all those
train cars when putting it away! :-)

5-0 out of 5 stars Railroad rush hour - a great game for all
This is a fabulous game for people of all ages.Even little kids can play the easy cards. The harder ones can be very engrossing for adults. My son started playing it when he was 4 years old. I have also given it to somebody as a present for their 40th birthday.I recommend it for anybody who wants a bit of a mental challenge. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars A Thinking Game
I work with children from preschool to high school, and kids from 3rd grade up LOVE this game.Even when they aren't good at it, it becomes addictive. It is great fun for college and adults, too.You can also play where everyone writes as many words as they can think of and the duplicates don't count (like Scategories).
Let the little kids find 3 letter words, but quickly make the minimum 4 letter words!!

5-0 out of 5 stars Fast-Paced Fun For All Ages
This game was tons of fun...I purchased it for my 15-year old daughter for a birthday gift. I ordered Smart Mouth from Amazon.com after reading about it in an issue of Real Simple magazine. We opened it up at her party and everyone from my daughter to her 7- and 9-year old nieces to her aunt and myself just loved this game. It was fast-paced and the youngest girl had the quickest answers. Best of all, they had a blast while spelling words!!! A great game, both educational and fun.

5-0 out of 5 stars adult party game
It's a shame this is lumped in with educational games. Although I can see it has great potential a as a vocabulary builder, it is one of the most fun adult party games I've ever played. It's similar in dynamic to Jenga, but requires a loose tongue instead of steady fingers, so it's a better choice after partaking of adult beverages. You can set the rules however you want--minumum 4 letters, only 3 letters, only place names, pick another language, anything! ... Read more

Children who love word games, logic puzzles, secret codes, mazes, and math mysteries will stretch their mental muscles with Visual Brain Storms. This set of 100 cards, each of which includes a humorous, full-color drawing, promises "the world's best brainteaser questions." The characters in the questions often have funny names (Professor Pith Bugby pops up often) or faces or dilemmas to solve. The answers and explanations are on the back of each card, along with a related bonus question. Many of the puzzles involve math concepts, spatial reasoning, logic, or sequential thinking, but some can be solved with plain common sense. Here's a sample: "Frank and Helen's annual singles elimination tennis tournament has drawn 18 players this year. How many matches must be played before there is a winner for the year?"Answer: "Every match will produce one loser, and every person other than the winner will lose once and only once. Eighteen players makes 17 losers; therefore it will take 17 matches to have a tournament winner." Visual Brain Storms is a humorous, painless way to improve those higher-order thinking skills. 5-0 out of 5 stars The thinking man's game!
Binary Arts is a leader in family and thinking games and Visual Brain Storm is the perfect example. Binary Arts gives you a game that can be played with one person or teams and the fun and entertainment is just the beginning.

The easy directions, printed on the box, have you playing inless than five minutes. The storage of the game is a breeze since the onlyparts are the game cards themselves. The hours of enjoyment and fun for thewhole family is what makes this game a sure fire winner.

The game callsfor ages 11 and up and some the cards may be a little too hard for theyounger crowd. In the solitaire version you play each card and scoreyourself. In the head to head you dived up into teams and you can put atime limit on each question.

Finally there is a team version which callfor you to place the card where everyone can see it, first team that thinksthey know answer calls out finished and the other teams have 1 minute leftto play. So if you're looking for a great party game Binary Arts may justhave the answer.

5-0 out of 5 stars Absolutely the most fun educational toy I have ever seen!
I bought this toy for my 5 year old 2 years ago, when I startedhomeschooling and she is now doing the intermediate and advanced levels(which still challenge me). She always wants to play rush hour beforestarting her math lessons to put herself in a "mathematical mindframe" (her words). Every child who comes to our house & playsthis game is hooked and asks to play next time. I am a teacher byprofession and this is a very unintimidating logic & reasoning game(for all ages)- I would highly recommend! I have just ordered 5 more to give asx-mas gifts this year. ... Bringing a new look to the classic peg solitaire game, here comes Hoppers. Since peg solitaire is a jumping game, what could be more natural than designing the pegs to resemble frogs? Players choose their preferred level of difficulty (from beginner to expert) and select one of the 40 cards included with the game. Following the diagram on the card, 4 to 12 frogs are placed on the game board lily pads. Then it's time to get hopping. Frogs leap over each other until there's only one left on the board. The beginner setups will be easy enough for most players to master quickly. The expert setups will take a lot of cogitation and some false starts before they're solved. If players have jumped and jumped and are still stumped, each card has the solution on the back. When play is done, frogs and playing cards can be tucked away in the nifty storage compartment beneath the game board.--Wendy Slotboom ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars FUN WAY TO MASSAGE YOUR BRAIN!
This is a great toy to develop your child's strategic thinking. The game is relatively simple. Organize your frogs as per the cards, jump one frog over the other and remove the jumped-over frog. The objective is to leave just one frog. You can only jump `adjacent' frogs along the lines (see picture).

The recommended age is 8 but younger children (supervised!) are just as enthralled. I had to improvise on the instructions, but I've taught the concepts to two 3 year olds - my buddy's son and my own. You will be amazed that they get it!

It is the greatest travel game. My son got this when he was 3 years old, and 4 years later it is still his first choice when we ask him to pick some toys for a trip........and he has a GameBoy!!

It is very durable, constructed very well and has seen no wear in 4 years of regular use. This is one of the toys that'll, literally, last you a life-time.

This is definitely a precursor for any parent looking to teach their kids Chess. Solving each situation requires you to think a few steps ahead.

This is probably the least expensive way to develop a new dimension in your child's brain.

VARIATIONS:
This toy also comes with a single "Red Frog". The objective is to leave the red frog standing.

OTHER SIMILAR TOYS:
FlipIT - This toy made by the same company, is a more difficult version of Hoppers. It is a 4X4 grid with Turtles instead of Frogs. The turtles can be placed on their bellies (green side up) or can be turned-turtle (orange side up).
One jumps over the turtles but the turtles do not come off the board - they just flip over. They flip over each time they're jumped over - green to orange and orange to green. The objective is to turn all turtles the right (green) side up.

4-0 out of 5 stars Hop Hop Hop
Another fun game for those who can't read or who can't read English. The youngest likes to put the pegs in. It is good practice setting up the games from the cards. The little frogs can get lost, but the neat box the game makes into helps with that. And, you don't need all the frogs to play most of the set ups.

5-0 out of 5 stars I had a Hoppin' good time!
My friend got Hoppers as a birthday present and we all played it.It was really fun and it got more challenging as we went on.What you do is: You pick a card and place the frogs on the pgs of what the picture shows on the card. Then you take one frog and jump it over one.The one that it jumped over, take it off the peg.The object it to have 1 frog remaining. It is very educational because you have to think when you play it.It is very durable because there is a pull out drawer under it that you store the frogs and the cards in.It's a great game that you can play in the car, especially for long vacations.Hoppers is hours of fun for everyone! ... 4-0 out of 5 stars Previous Reivew Misses the Point
I'm afraid that the previous reviewer misses the point about the maze.It is designed to allow the user to shift the walls as they progress through the maze; it is not intended to be a static maze as if on paper.

There are 16 starting configurations listed on the back of the product, and they increase in difficulty as they progress.Early settings require either no or very limited manipulation of the walls to complete. As you go on to more advanced settings, however, you encounter ever-more-complicated mazes that require you to plan ahead to determine whether moving a given wall will help you or hurt you in the long run.

This is a great toy to teach strategic thinking, and is suitable for a variety of ages (some of the more advanced maze configurations are quite challenging).

1-0 out of 5 stars not really "16" ways
I was very disappointed to find that only one setting allows you to get all the way to the end of the maze.Yes, you can change the maze path but then you can only get part of the way to the finish. My kid LOVES mazes but this toy was a bust! ... Read more

Editorial Review

There are only seven pieces in this puzzle, so it should be easy. Right? Guess again! Sixty puzzle cards show 60 three-dimensional structures for players to replicate using the seven pieces. Each of the pieces, based on three or four connected cubes, is unique. One is an L shape, another a T, and they get more complicated from there. If a player is stumped and can't figure out how to build the Long Wall, the Snake, or the Bad Dog, there are helpful clues on the back of the cards. Players also can use the pieces to invent their own structures. Originally known as the Soma Cube, Block by Block is an excellent way to develop and refine spatial perception skills. Includes drawstring bag for storage. --Wendy Slotboom ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars I played this 30 years ago and loved it.
once you start on this you're hooked! my friends and I worked on those puzzles when we were out at sea and the images and feel of the cubes remains with me to this day.

4-0 out of 5 stars Wow this is hard!
For the ultimate challenge in spatial relations try out this game. It's like a three dimensional tangram and it is really tough. For a great time bring this to a party and work on the solutions as a group.Personally, Ithink 8 years old is probably a little young for this game.I'd suggest12+ unless the children are teamed up with an adult. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Endless fun!
The first time my friends and I opened this game, we ended up playing for four hours straight. They've asked to play it frequently since then.Easily the most fun game I've purchased in years.Because your team knows the subject you're drawing, it's easier to guess each of the doodles than it would be trying to guess out of the blue, and some of the resulting drawings are side-splittingly funny. If you feel like more of a challenge, you can even keep the subject a secret and have the team try to guess it for extra points after you've finished drawing all the objects.Buy this game--you won't regret it! ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Picture Link is Picture Perfect!
We had a hard time finding an easy game for my 4 year old to play. This game was a hit because it was so simple to play. All you do is take turns calling out a photo on your playmat. At first he did not understand the goal of connecting a line of pieces across the board, but he slowly learned. It is a fun game for two to four people! It got my son hooked on board games and now he can't wait to play new games! ...
