Portuguese mom
I bought this lovely doll for my mother,who is Portuguese.She was thrilled. I ended up having to buy several more for the grandkids, as she won't let them touch hers! She is one popular and beautiful doll and everyone that has recieved one has been delighted.

Princess ofthe Danish Court or Cinderella?
I found this particular princess looked similar to the Disney version of Cinderella. I do not know if that is either good or bad. I just think that Mattel could have been more creative and designed a doll that doesn't look like Cinderella. She is pretty and worth the money if you like the doll.

Not-quite-fabulous
I've loved Barbies since they first came out, and I still believe dolls are to be PLAYED with, which is why I don't completely love this doll. She has awful hair, and what would it have cost them to throw a few snaps or some velcro on the back of her dress?

On the other hand, the dress IS gorgeous, and the shoes are fabulous. And I love her grave and dignified expression.

Very Beautiful,Historical....
...And cheap!And I don't mean $$$ cheap. Unlike the other 'European' looking Dolls of the World that I own, this one is a little chinsy and it gets messed up. For example, the plastic rod in the bodice kept popping out and I didnt touch it, her hair uncurled and her hem between the blue and the goldish petticoat unraveled. Beautiful doll
I just received this lovely doll as a gift, and though I agree with a previous reviewer that Mattel could have used a nicer fabric for her dress, I have no complaints about her.Her hair is almost a strawberry blonde color, and her eyes are hazel instead of green or blue.For the price I think she's a gorgeous doll, and it's actually a shame to keep her in a box!

Spellbound Lover doll
I am disappointed that they chose to use a material that feels like plastic to make the dress. I wish they would stop being so cheap and use better-quality fabric. Other than that, the doll seems very beautiful-attractive facial paint, lovely long hair, and pretty dress style.

Absolutely Lovely
I am a Barbie collector of limited means and often have great difficulty in making my choices.I am not at all disappointed in this lovely lady.The fabric choices for her attire are simply gorgeous.I laugh when I remember making my own Barbie doll clothes as a child out of polyester and seersucker scraps.She is beautiful and beautifully dressed.I only wish I could win a lottery to be able to acquire more of these exquisite collectibles.I doubt she will leave the box again, no matter how much my kids beg. ... I HATE IT!!!

A Beautiful Character Study
I saw her in the store today. I just had to get her. She is very good education, the clothes are realistic to the time period as well. I thought she looked so gorgeous. I love herface, whicht he photo makes look European. But my doll is very Asian looking. She is the only WORLD doll i have. I only am getting the Asian ones, they are the mos beautiful.

Anyway you wont be very dissapointed in her. She is beautiful.

One flaw is that her hands are in a 90 degree angle for good.
Her legs can bend. The suit is one piece.

i give it on a scale from 1 to 10

fantastic doll.

A bit dissappointed at first, but then....
When I first saw the picture on amazon I thought this doll was a *must have* for any Barbie collector. When she arrived, though, I admit I was dissapointed that I didn't get that same "Wow" effect. However, after a few minutes of checking her out I determined I was indeed thrilled with my purchase! Being that I collect the Princess Dolls of the World collection, (and would have bought her anyway) I must say she is definitely one of the nicer dolls in the collection (and I am even considering buying a second to remove from the box!) Her hair, though not braided like in the pic Amazon shows, is indeed long (maybe somewhat braided or wavy, it's hard to tell) but gorgeous!. The dress (if you open the box) is not as nice,all one piece as opposed to the way it looks in the pic, but sadly, these DOTW dolls are simply a cheaper end doll and for the price, the dress is fine... overall I would give her 5 out of 5 stars for her appearance. The face looks more unique than many of the other Princess dolls and I personally think she does have a foreign look to her. Her eyes are hazel and her lips a nice dark color, her skin is also not so pale as typical barbie and definitely next to the Russian Princess, you can see her skin is certainly darker (perhaps not truly olive, like most Italians I know, but definitely not white). The box is a dissappointment on these as well. The new design makes them easier to open, however, most collectors will not even do that! I think it allows for dust to creep in easier..and when I did (I couldn't resist) open this one up I noticed the inner 'box' with the Italy backdrop on it was starting to warp already!? Brand new, huh...what will it look like in, say, 5 years!? Hmm... All in all, a must have for the DOTW Princess collector and a even a nice doll for any little girl (or big girl) to remove and play with! ... Read more

Not as pretty in person
This is just my opinion here, but this doll looks interesting and gorgeous in the photos, but when I saw her in person I was underwhelmed. Her face wasn't nearly as pretty as I thought it looked.

Keep in mind, I am very picky about Barbie dolls because I don't buy that many of them. I look for uniqueness, rather than the same old blonde Barbie, but I also look for dolls whose face is very nice looking. I loved Barbies as a child and am appalled that now many of the playline dolls have large heads, significantly larger than Barbie's head used to be. I don't see this problem as much with the Silver Label collectibles such as Choclate Obsession Barbie. I am collecting dolls for my daughter to have one day, and this was one I am not keeping for her. I was really disappointed in it.

Now on the other hand, this would make a nice collectible for a chocolate lover or someone who likes to buy a lot of unique collectible dolls, and at least this is not just another blonde Barbie.

I hope this review isn't unhelpful just because it's negative, I honestly just think this doll is merely okay, average, nothing too special or beautiful.

Crave chocolate?
This is one of the prettiest dolls that Mattel has released this year.Her chocolate attire is "yummy," and if you want the aroma of chocolate -- it's here.

She is a silver label collectible, which means that there will be no more than 50,000 dolls created world wide.(Pink lable or for play, gold is limited to 25,000.) So, for a collector, this is a gorgeous doll at an excellent price and will reach the point that she is no longer available quicker.

But for those of us who love chocolate -- well, enjoy the fragrance, grab a candy bar, and play.Her price is affordable for kids or adults.

Delicious and Gorgous.
This is one of the few barbies that are not pop culture that I covet. She is even more lovely in person than in her photo. The photo does not do her justice. She has a fun theme that makes you hunger for more. ... Read more

They made Barbie a tv character she's a doll not Wonder Woman I want the old Barbie not the new Barbie.I like some of the new Barbies some of the new dolls not just Barbie dolls I love My Scene dolls but I don't like bratz dolls.

Wonderful Wonder Woman Doll!
I bought 2 of these dolls from Amazon this year and I love them dearly! I left one in it's box and the other I took out. I have almost all of the dolls except Supergirl. I don't even think i'll get her. I wish she looked more like the original Supergirl.I love Wonder Woman's costume, very authentic to the comic books and resembles quite a bit the tv series. I just love it! I always wanted the Barbie Wonder Woman version from 1999 but I missed out and now they want a lot of dollars for her. Thank God Mattel re-did her again and now I have her! The only gripe I have is that her hair should be mountainous ala Poisin Ivy or the original 1999 version. But other than that she's beautiful! Go buy one now!

A Barbie Set for the rest of us
I have all the DC Comics Barbies (except the very expensive Catwoman), and I've been impressed with the detail to their costumes.I do NOT like the bendy bodies, though, so I've customized all mine using the articulated bodies from Western Barbies, turning them into more of an action figure.Mattel would do well to start making most of their Barbies with these bodies, which have fully articulated arms, legs and waists.Overall, these are not bad figures, and it would be great if Mattel made some more of DC's female heroes and villains.(In the meantime, I've got plans to make my own Black Canary and Zatanna... This is my favorite fairy Barbie I've seen so far!Everything about her is PERFECT!From the gorgeous colors of her outfit to the flowers in her hair, she's total magic.I love the unique shape of her wings and the many layers of her fluffy tutu.Her rooted eyelashes and glittery eyeshadow enphasize her lovely face.I love her unique eyebrows too.She's more than worth the price and one of the most beautiful, unique Barbies I've ever seen!

Having gone through the Nutcrackers, they have moved on to Shakespeare's heroines.Wow, this doll is such a gorgeous addition to the ballerinas, with the new emphasis of Shakespeare.

The crappiest toy I have ever bought for my little sister.
As soon as she opened it the head fell off and the motorcycle had no handles on it.Even when we superglued the items back on other items fell off like her hair and also her clothes ripped.All of this happened and she only touched it once.I HAVE WARNED PARENTS NOT TO BUY THIS ITEM FOR THIER CHILDREN AND I SUGGEST THAT YOU DO THE SAME.

Barbie Batgirl is Toy Perfection!
This drool inducing Barbie doll is a must for Batgirl and Barbie collectors alike! Whether you're a fan of the newer, WB animated version of DC comics' hottest heroine (well, equal with Supergirl, anyway), or prefer the 1960's series Batgirl or Filmation's cartoon version,you'll find this doll a perfect blend of all three. Still, I hear she's also great for playtime, well made and more articulated than the usual Barbie doll, with a cycle that's equally fun. Barbie Batgirl is also available without the Toys R Us exclusive Cycle, but for the real fans, this is the only way to go! Now, I just hope I can get the Supergirl doll before they're all gone, along with Wonder Woman and the gorgeous new addition, Poison Ivy!

Truly Beautiful Collector Doll
Having been a Barbie Doll Collector for 10 years now, I cannot imagine anyone seeing this doll and not believing that finally Mattel has gone back to the roots of feminine beauty in its purest form.She doesn't have the glamour of Mackie's Goddess of the Arctic or the sexy Diva Collection.... but what this doll does have is a sense of innocence and a hauntingly angelic face. One Of My All Time Top Favorites.
My husband purchased this doll for me for Christmas. He is a real stunner. They did a great job making him look just like the character in the movies. He is one of the few I display out in my living room. This is one I will keep forever.

Wow.
I received Ken as Legolas for Christmas after I (on a whim) placed it on my Wish List.I have the first two Toy Biz action figures (blah, but cool) still in their boxes, but I never found the third so this was my "replacement" for not having the full three movie set.When I first saw it, I was floored.It's very well crafted, yet they could have spared a little of Ken's looks for some real authenticity from the movie.Despite that, the doll is amazing.I only removed him once to examine him closely and was amazed.The stand, for those who don't know, is behind the packaging slip (background) behind him.It's really cheesy from the looks of it (I didn't open it enough to find out.)The box is a much better display case for him.You can't complain; it's worth the money especially for a fan.

Supergirl is just SUPER!
I wonder what most collectors of this doll are complaining about? There is nothing wrong with this doll what so ever. Yes, I know I said that I wasn't going to buy this doll but hey I lied ok so Sue me. I mean how can I not right? I have all of the other Barbies like, Wonder Woman, Batgirl, Catwoman, Poison Ivy and now Supergirl!I got her two days ago and took her out of the box and was toying with her. There is NOTHING wrong with her boots as most collectors complained about, there's no slit in the back and it DOES NOT come off of her feet! Now I left her hair in the plastic wrapper that it comes in to keep it from being messed up. I know collectors/buyers were upset because hair on the doll comes out easily and that I do agree with in the case of Wonder Woman doll I first purchased, her hair came out easily when you combed her. So I stopped combing her hair and it doesnt come out so I just leave the doll on display. I bought a second Wonder Woman doll and that one I left in her box. Aside from that Supergirl is a great doll. I love her now and I will treasure them all. These dolls are nostly aimed for collectors and for young girls who treat their dolls delicately. If you know your child is rough with their toys then these DOLLS are NOT for THEM! Buy them and treasure them for years to come. ENJOY!

Super Hero To The Rescue? It's SCARY!!!!!
Man, this doll gives me nightmares! I mean look at it! It's ugly!!!!!!! You would NOT want this hanging in your room!!!

BEWARE
When my sister got this doll out of the box, she was so excited because she had finally finished collecting the whole D.C. Doll Series(Wonder Woman, Batgirl, Catwoman, Supergirl), but only to find out that this doll was poorly done. She started playing with her hair, very gently, and hair plugs went missing! Within 5 minutes out of her box, the Supergirl doll had more than six missing hairplugs! Strands of hair just kept coming off. We were all surprised because Mattel has always made quality products and this had never happened. All the other dolls had come out fine, it was just this doll that came with defects. My sister was sad, and my mom decided to buy her another one because the doll was missing a lot of hair and probably could not be returned. So when she got her 2nd Supergirl doll, she also came with defects. The shirt was kind of small, and very tight and hard to put back on. The hair did not come as defected as the first doll, but it still has hairs coming off when her hair gets combed or a little pull. A BIG DISSAPOINTMENT. ... Read more

Barbie didn't need the reputational damage
Why would Barbie, a doll with a stellar international reputation, risk her sterling character by impersonating the heroine of one of the least successful motion pictures of all time?Barbie claims she wants to be taken seriously as an actress as well as a model, but then she goes and pulls what is clearly a publicity stunt.Surely her manager should be reigning in Barbie's tendencies to flash her figure in skimpy outfits.If Barbie wants to capitalize on Halle Berry's fame, a better choice might be "Monster's Ball Barbie," along with "Billy Bob Thornton Ken doll."

Speaking of which, I find it disturbing that other posters are alluding to Ken's sexual arousal at Barbie's latest get-up.I thought everyone knew that Ken does not have actual genitals, but rather a smooth plastic mound beneath his zipper.Sadly for Ken, he will never be able to satisfy Barbie.I think the other reviewers should be more sensitive to the differently abled, like Ken, and not assume that people's genitals are functioning or even existent.

I collect African-American barbies and this one was a great addition to what I have so far.

Nice doll to add to collection
I really just wanted to rate this doll a single, 5-star rating. I don't think educational value is an issue because it's not supposed to be educational. As for durability, I don't know- I keep mine displayed in the box until my daughter is old enough to play with it.

People are missing the point when they protest this doll's outfit: this doll is SUPPOSED to be movie memorabilia, a likeness of Halle Berry's character in the movie "Catwoman". The outfit is similar to that worn by Halle. This is NOT slut-Barbie--- it is a replica of Halle Berry in "Catwoman". The real shame is that the doll doesn't resemble Halle at all in the face.

However, it's JUST a doll, and meant to be fun. I think this is a unique doll to add to a Barbie or similar doll collection. I like this doll better than the others out there- Wonder Woman, Batgirl, Poison Ivy. Catwoman is a doll with an amazing costume. ... Read more

• When Ricky discovers yet another frivolous purchase, he demands that Lucy return it to the company. Lucy tells Ricky how difficult it is for her to resist a salesman, but Ricky insists. When the salesman comes that afternoon, he happily takes back the kitchen gadget, but bamboozles Lucy into buying a 'Handy Dandy' vacuum cleaner.
• Again Ricky insists that Lucy return this new acquisition, but she knows that the salesman can sell her anything. Ricky finally agrees to return it himself. To avoid another sales pitch, Lucy takes off for the movies with Ethel.

A MUST HAVE for Lucy Collectors
An incredible likeness to everyone's favorite redhead, this Barbie is perfect for the I LOVE LUCY collector and fan. The episode was hilarious, with Lucy buying a vacuum cleaner, Fred buying a washing machine, and Ricky a fridge!The laughs were non-stop as one fumbling mishap after another keeps the Ricardo's and Mertz's bickering the entire time. Lucy wears this pretty polka dot house dress and the details of hairdo, backdrop of the apartment and even her facial expression are wonderfully accurate.Treat yourself to this one of a kind collectible. The first dolls in this limited edition series are long gone and hard to find -- don't let this one get away!

"Peels and slices, cuts and dices..."
I absolutely love "I Love Lucy" and have eagerly collected each of the Barbie dolls issued by Mattel in the Lucy series. This one is exceptionally nice as it features Lucy Ricardo dressed as she was in so many episodes, as a typical New York housewife. She is wearing her navy dress with white polka dots and a white apron with red rick rack trim.

Of course, this is the classic episode in which Lucy purchases the worthless Handy Dandy Kitchen Helper, prompting Ricky to accuse her of having no sales resistance. To her credit, Lucy does attempt to return the worthless item but the salesman is just too persuasive and ends up selling her a more expensive vacuum cleaner instead. In one very funny scene, Lucy goes door-to-door in an attempt to sell the vacuum to some other gullible housewife. Unfortunately she has no luck. She returns to the apartment exhausted and minus one shoe and tells Ricky that a few hours more and someone would have reported the death of another salesman. Lucy then leaves it up to Ricky to deal with returning the vacuum cleaner to the salesman and he soon discovers that he, too, is "putty" in this man's hands. :)

The photo/tableau in the box is taken from the living room of the Ricardo's apartment. Lucy is standing with the fireplace to one side ( with the Kitchen Helper sitting atop the mantel) and the vacuum cleaner on the other. A very, very nice addition to the series!

okay
though she is very pretty and her dress is made out of nice fabric i think her dress is very plain. no wonderful designs some of the other dolls had like, the ancient greece one or the irland one. she just seems kind of plain, and her eyes seem to dazed.

This Barbie is very well made.I do have a few complaints.The dress is sewn on which means that it can't be changed unless you cut the threads holding the back together.If there is a seamstress in your family, this is fine to do since the back is hemmed, meaning that snaps or hooks and eyes can be sewn on.My other complaint is that her arms are bent at an almost 90 degree angle, permanently.

The Dolls of the World: Princess of England is by far one of my favorite princesses. Her costume is exquisite and her hair and makeup are gorgeous as well.
