Simply put the Move ‘n Groove Dance Mat on the floor and let your child dance the day away. The keyboard makes six different notes, the instrument icons play various tunes, and when the picture of Barney is stepped on, he will issue instructions to step on the blue footprint, step on the red footprint, etc., and even congratulate the child when she steps on the correct spot. The furry, inflatable Barney figure spins around when music plays, an effect that would be better if he didn't tilt weirdly to one side. Nonetheless, Barney is still a nice bonus with this mat since, being removable, he is a fun toy in his own right. How to stabilize barney....
ok - if you've made the mistake of adding this to your toy collection you can try stabilizing Barney by sliding a pair of chopsticks down the right side of his right leg (but not all the way down - just under his arm to about ankle length)and a little baby spoon (or something that size that won't puncture the inflatable plastic) down the inside of his right leg. You still have to keep him inflated to the max and he still tilts to one side slightly. We will see how long the interest level lasts with our one year old and our 3 year old and then we will toss it!
One other piece of advice - just accept the fact that there is nothing that "teaches" dancing here - there is no instructional foot stepping directions from Barney. He just asks to find things on the mat - not to any song or rythym or any pattern at all. So, this could have some "fun" value if your child loves jumping around on the mat with Barney to all the music and sounds the mat makes when danced on.

Fun for a range of ages!
I have 4 kids from 1 to 6 and they all loved this toy!We haven't had any problems with it falling over.The only problem I have noticed is that it seems to go through batteries if you don't turn it off when not is use.I think this is a great item especially for the price! ... Read more

Very good toy
We got this when my daughter was 2. she is 3 now, and while I did not think it was as educational as the Dora and Blue's Clue's cartridges she has, for the Learn Through Music......it is still good and she loves Barney. It kept her busy.

I was misled
When I ordered this toy, there was nothing to indicate that I need another part for this to be used. I only found out when I got it and now I cannot find the other part. It is totally useless unless you have both components.

The Learn Through Music series are wonderful educational toys.The base Unit comes with "Elmo's Scavenger Hunt", and this cartridge and all 4 additional cartridges (with additional cartridges being released every so often) provide excellent stimulus for your little toddler (ours began using hers at 15 months), as well as effective alphabet, numeric, letter-matching (to words), and sing-song fun for your special little girl or boy.

Of all the toys my daughter has, this is her second favorite (it's hard to beat a stuffed animal "woobie"), and to me that says a lot.

I believe your child will both enjoy these toys, and learn from them too, and it's hard to ask for more!

Great toy but didn't last!
My 18 mo. old daughter received this as a gift and absolutely loved the familiar Barney songs.This quickly became her favorite toy, but the microphone broke after a couple of uses.That wasn't a big deal since my daughter didn't really understand that concept anyway.However, the toy itself started skipping after only a few weeks, and quickly got to the point where it can't get past the initial "hello". Very annoying and definitely not worth the money.

BARNEY SONGBOOK
I found this toy to be loud, my son loves it and really enjoys bringing it along in the car and shopping. He received it as a gift. I don't neccessarily believe that I would have purchased it for 21.00 dollars, but am glad he did receive it because it's a hit for him at this stage. ( two and a half years old)

Toy Broke Very Quickly
My 14 month old daughter loved this toy.She liked to turn the pages and press the barney foot to hear the different songs. But it broke after only a few months of use.First the microphone stopped working even though we rarely used it.Now the songs skip, play for a moment and then start over. Description WRONG
Like another person wrote, this did not sing the I love you song and Everyone is special like the description says. It sings Twinkle Twinkle and some "Mr Star" song we've never heard. We were VERY DISSAPPONTED.
This toy is VERY VERY LOUD and not appropriate for bedtime like I wanted it for. My baby likes night lights so I thought this would be good but it gets pressed accidentally during sleep & wakes the neighborhood.

Does not sing "I love you"song

A Great Toy
My daughter got this for her second birthday and she is gonna be three and still plays with it. She loves to sing with it and it has helped her learn to count. When i am tired of listening to it, it has an off switch!!!! the only draw back is that all the money doesn't fit the draw right. My daughter is so hard on toys but this is a great toy!

A great cash register if you love Barney
I bought this cash register for my daughter when she was 15 months old.She LOVED Barney (already) so she just kept pushing the buttons and playing the music.Now that she's two, she often uses it like a cash register and LOVES to scan her groceries and swipe her credit card!This is a great toy!I agree that the money is hard to fit, but all you need to do is take away one piece of money and it fits just fine!

Worth it!
This toy is fun, mostly, but the money doesn't fit in the drawer! It was still worth cleaning my room though!

As long as its Barney its good!
While I am not exactly thrilled with the quality of the material overall I am pleased with this doll.My 2 year old daughter now loves to take a bath because she knows Barney is going to be in there.I hang him up on the shower caddy and by that night he is dry again and ready for another round of being drowned by a very busy toddler. He takes no batteries and needs to additional parts bought so he is a winner in our house!

not great material for a bath!
I purchased this for my son who loves Barney. It's a great idea, but the material is not suitable for water. Daughter Loves This
My daughter got this for Christmas last year (she was 15 months)!!She still loves playing with it.It isn't one of those musical toys that you dread because it gets on your nerves too.It took her a little bit to figure out the buttons and which ones to push, but once she did, she went wild!!!

Super-dee-duper!
My little guy got this toy for Christmas last year and now at two, he loves it even more. He loves to dance to the songs and Mommy plays the sound effects. There is a high/low volume switch in the back and it has survived a couple of ceramic tile drops. I would highly recommend this toy to any littly Barney lover out there. Well worth the price...(I would have paid more.)

Really good!
I bought this toy in Argentina after thinking a lot if I had to or not, because for us it is REALLY expensive, and I have to say that it was a very good decision. The toy is cute, my 2 years old daughter loves it and I like the songs very much too. It works perfect since we bought it and she can be playing hours with it.
