3-0 out of 5 stars Pretty good?!
i'm a real dbz fan and this game is sorta good. the graphics are great and you can play as dr. gero android#17,18 and other players and the androids have unlimited power but i think it's bad because it is so easy to beat. you can buy the characters at the shop icon but i think buu's fury is better than this game. you can also use spirit bomb, instant transmission the kamehameha wave turn your opponents to chocolate with majin buu and use final flash with vegeta. the only fused character is gotenks and you can't use calick gun in this one.that's why i made it a 3 star rating

5-0 out of 5 stars Supersonic Warriors is a must buy
Ahh, Dragonball Z. Originally a cartoon television show starring Goku, a Saiyan warrior, along with a ton of other good and bad characters, it's morphed (like the greedy little capitalist machine it is) into many differrent catagories. Now even the Gameboy Advance has a few titles; most recently, the fighting game known as DBZ: Supersonic Warriors. And you know what? Hands down, this is the best fighting game for the Gameboy Advance, period. Proving that you don't have to simply mirror the Street Fighter franchise, developer's Banpresto did an excellent job turning what could have been a minimal button masher into a worthy title for any fighting gamer, DBZ fan or not. You've got multiple game modes (the best being a story mode), repeat value (as you win with a character, your strength/ability grows) and a gradual learning curve. Random, repetitive fingers may win the beginning fights, but you'll quickly learn it takes skill to overcome the later challengers. Most of the characters are pretty solid, but like any fighting game, you'll probably stick to using the same 2-3 guys. Most importantly, the visuals really shine on this game, and the sound is pretty good as well. Fighting fans: Supersonic Warriors is a must buy.

5-0 out of 5 stars awesome!!!!!!
i was vegeta and i ruled the universe and beat the baddies and it was AWESOME-i shot some sweet beams at all the emenies and they died and i was super sayan and the kamayamayas are fun and they light up my life and when i beat it it showed secret characters like goku rolling around on a bucket of teryaki chicken. FIGHT ME!!!!!!!!!!!!-sometimes i put on my mask of bulma while i play and pretend i am IN THE GAME.

KAMAYAMAYA BEAM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Ah-ha...
Now here is a good GBA DBZ game. Although it still has those doors where you got to be a certain level to pass through. But This is finally a DBZ game where it has every single moment in that part unlike skipping the Garlic Jr. saga in LOG and LOG2. You get to face all of Buu's forms and all those bosses in Babidi's spaceship. But I won't spoil the game any more. I give this game a 4.99 out of 5 and a 9.98 out of 10.

4-0 out of 5 stars A pretty enjoyable game
Ok, so I'm a fan of DBZ, but that really doesn't count.I'm doing this review from a gamer's POV.And honestly, I liked this game. You can now level up past 50 (You start out with a Lvl 60 Goku), and you can equip things and upgrade your attacks (such as Gohan's Electric Kamehameha).Plus, there's new moves like Instant Transmission and blocking, and there's even more transformations like Super Saiyan 3 and Majin Vegeta. Not only that, but there are fusions! Also, you can battle and trade with other friends, sort of like Atari's DBZ version of Pokemon (well, not quite, but you get the idea). The only problem I had with the game is I could use the same strategy I used in Legacy of Goku 2 to defeat every single enemy, which makes the game too easy (I merely pound on the A button while moving towards my opponents). But anyway, a fun game that you can come back and play a lot of times.

1-0 out of 5 stars Fun, but too short and repetitive
The only reason i bought it was becauseof dbz and this disappointed me. A 6 hour long game with boring sidequests and easy boss fights. And after you beat the game, all you have left to do is unlock (secret character) and get all char. levels maxed out and then there's basically no point to the game at all. One more thing. The level up system is way too fast. I'm at 121, i kill a kinda strong guy just after levelling up, i level up again!!! Much too easy for my liking. Get Legacy Of Goku 2 instead ... 3-0 out of 5 stars Peter Rabbit makes a home of Raditz!
A Dragon ball z game WOW! But seriously folks this game is pretty cool, but its not without it's problems. This games plot runs from the saiyan saga through the cell saga, and it follows the story fairly well but... There are some problems graphics wise. The graphics are well...Glitchy to say the least, through the course of the entire game you will notice small tecnical glitches such as,Raditz's hair going through his arm,and Nappa's
bicep warping through his armors shoulderpad. Also this game's charecters have odd-looking wounds & injuries. For example, towards the end of the first battle, when Raditz gets blasted by Piccolo's special beam cannon, the wound he gains on his chest resembles that of a rabbit hole! A BIG RED Rabbit hole?!? whats going on here? This is what I think,Piccolo must have thrown Peter rabbit at Raditz, and Peter must have needed a new home. Its the only logical explaination. Honestly though, this game was fun for me while I was playing it,and it is worth buying, but the presence of strange looking wounds & odd glitches may cause some fans to run away in utter terror! Read on and deside for yourself

Good points:Plays through some of the more exciting DBZ sagas, Includes most of the charecters from the TV show, Includes most of everyone's signature moves such as the Spiritbomb & Destructo disc, and has many unlockable secrets!

Bad points:Weird techincal glitches, odd-looking wounds, some of the shows story has been removed, some of the dialogue has been replaced with corney one-liners & phrases, Does not include the DBZ movie enemys such as Broily & Cooler, some of the moves names have been changed for example Kaeoken is now kingkai fist and Gallicgun is now gallic cannon! 4-0 out of 5 stars This game is good
I been waiting for a good dragonballz game for a while and finally i got one. it has at least 20 characters and the ginyu force. well at least recoome and captain ginyu. this game is a must have. trust me its worth the money!

4-0 out of 5 stars Whats this only 26 reviews
Shame on you people, dbz is the best game ever and you need to give it more reviews than this. This time they have taken dbz to the max with 3-d graphics characters and everything else. You can unlock freza those not so tough androids, teen gohan trunks, hercule (that retart) and everyone else. But all of thier fighting moves are the same exept yamcha his is the wolf fighting style. Also they don't have super sayain 3, but this game is fun overall and it is very easy. but the ps2 version is better. Dbz you could have done better. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Just as good (or bad) as the first
This isn't really the best 'cause I mean at the end when your Super Sayajin 2 as Gohan it takes like three or four hits to beat Perfect Cell. Also what with the needing to be a certain level to pass now that was stupid. But it was a pretty decent game. I give this game a 4.17 out of 5 and a 8.34 out of 10.

4-0 out of 5 stars Now this is a dbz game!
Yes... i'm the guy who hates Buu's Fury but this is good. The sidequests are fun, the bosses are harder than the Buu ones and there's more of em. This game took me 2 days to beat and Buu took me 6 hours. This one also has more puzzles. LOG2 = Hot Buu = Not

2-0 out of 5 stars DBZreview

I just wanted this pack for the Police Goten and Trunks. But the other toys in pack are good.

5-0 out of 5 stars Dragonball/Z Toys- Great! :-)
I recently bought this 7 pack of toys. It took them a few days to get here, but it was definetely worth the wait. This comes with Dragonball Goku and Krillin, Dragonball Z Gotenks, Goten and Trunks, and Dragonball Z Origins Police Trunks and Police Gohan. I thought it came with adult Goku and Krillin, but for the first DBZ figures I bought, these are perfect. It comes in one box with the secen figures in it. I give it 5 Stars :) ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Good but not great
This is probably one of the best DBZ games... not! I'm a DBZ fan and even I did not think this was all that great. For one it's too easy and you don't even get to face the Sayain thingys (green dudes that are planted in the ground). I give this a 4.15 out of 5 and a 8.30 out of 10.

1-0 out of 5 stars LAME GAME!
LEGACY OF GOKU IS A DRY AND DULL ACTION RPG FOR THE GBA AND THE SPRITES ARE CHEESY LOOKING TOO! PLUS THERE'S STUPID SIDE QUESTS THAT WEREN'T ORIGINALLY THERE IN THE TV SHOW AND IT WOULD SEEM LIKE A WASTE OF TIME FOR GOKU TO GO FINDING A STUPID KID'S TOY BOAT WHILE HIS SON GOHAN HAS BEEN KIDNAPPED BY RADITZ! I GUESS GOKU IS JUST A PLAIN IDIOT WHEN YOU THINK ABOUT IT!

3-0 out of 5 stars too easy! a kids review
This game is kinda fun but too easy! Once i fought jeice and beat him in 2 hits! Vegeta and nappa are both even harder then freiza! Even raditz is harder than freiza! And its stupid because king kai teaches him the kamehameha move when it was master roshi that taught him that. And you have to do stupid side quests like save a little boys cruddy toy boat and find some crappy flowers. And you face your biggest challenge ever: a wolf! If you get too close to them youget your butt kicked! ... Read more

Editorial Review

In the universe of Dragonball Z items available, this stadium may disappoint fans used to a high level of quality. Whereas Dragonball Z action figures and games are noted for their solid construction and detailed workmanship, the TenkaichiBudokai World Tournament Stadium is a rather flimsy set of plastic and cardboard with pre-applied decals meant to serve as an arena for figures to fight battles. One corner of the white tiled floor features two tiles atop a lever, meant to propel figures into the air thus simulating fighting action. But aside from that relatively minor attribute, the stadium is a letdown. The legion fans of Dragonball Z would be better served improvising their own arenas. Figures not included. --Charlie Williams ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars should not even be on the store shelf
Another example of toy manufacturers taking advantage of young kids.It should never even be in the store. My son spent his Christmas money on it and it was a huge let down.It is hard to watch your kid walk away in tears because they were taken.

1-0 out of 5 stars Don'tlet the picture on the box fool you !
This thing didn't look half bad on the box. It is a totally different story when you open it. Two boys, 8 and 5, who are huge DBZ fans were disgusted with this cardboard crap. Had I read the reviews beforehand I never would have bought it. Needless to say I learned my lesson.Hard plastic and cardboard just don't stay together when held in place with tabs. Maybe after a lot of time and a glue gun, this thing could be made useable. Don't say you haven't been warned.

2-0 out of 5 stars worst thing i ever bought!

Editorial Review

Dragon Ball Z: Budokai faithfully recreates the popular Dragon Ball animated series, giving you the power to fight up to 23 familiar friends and foes in a variety of scenarios. It's not for the weak of thumb, so start out with a little practice, learning the powerful kicks, punches, and elaborate combinations that will lead you to victory. When you’ve mastered the skills, and warmed up your thumbs, jump into the tournament ring and defeat opponents--every victory wins you money to spend at Mr. Popo’s, buying and trading skills to trounce future opponents.

The Story segment of the game may be the most fun for fans, though it diverges from standard gameplay. Where most games have long, elaborate series of gameplay, intercut with story, Dragon Ball Z intercuts very short interactive battles with long animated sequences portraying everything from the Saiyan Saga through to the Cell Games. The animation and voicing in these sequences mirrors the television series and even uses the very same voice actors as the show. Some fans may be disappointed when gameplay ends with the Cell Games--or they may take it as a sure sign that future games will be released to cover the remaining sagas.

Fun? Yes. Flawless? No. There’s not a whole lot under the surface of the sagas--what you see is what you get. And you also might get a little carpal tunnel syndrome along the way--the button-mashing combinations needed to pull off the most awesome moves may not be friendly to fans’ forearms. Still, Dragon Ball Z: Budokai may be a slam dunk for fans of the series who now have the opportunity not just to watch the sagas, but to participate in them. --Maile Bohlmann

Pros:

  • Faithfully re-creates the animated series
  • Voicing by the original actors
  • Two-player dueling option
  • Story segment lets fans live in the Dragon Ball world
Cons:
  • Elaborate combinations are difficult to remember
  • Doesn't contain all the sagas
  • Little depth of gameplay

5-0 out of 5 stars Great
This is a great game it only has up until the ending of the Cell Games Saga, but still it is way better than Budokai 2, 3 and Sagas. For one this is not a "board" game type game as the second one or an adventure like Budokai 3 or an everywhere traveling game like Sagas, it's just a plain old simple fighting game with great cut-scenes. I give this game a 5 out of 5 and a 10 out of 10(My highest rating ever).

4-0 out of 5 stars This Game Rocks
This game is the first of the Dragonball Z Budokai series. It features all the characters from the Saiyan Saga, to the Cell Games Saga. You can also go through the story of Dragonball Z using the Story mode (this is also how you unlock most of the characters). The other two characters you have to get by beating the World Tournament stage.

Cons:
1. If you don't like fighting games this is not for you
2. If you don't want to keep pressing the same button combinations all the time, I'd suggest one of the later games in the series.
3. It only goes to the Cell Games Saga
4. It leaves out the Garlic Jr. Saga (just in case some of you were wondering)

Pros:
1. It's based on the show, so if you're a fan you'll like it
2. If you have some of the other games or if you are thinking about getting one of them this is a good way to train yourself with the controls.
3. This is the only game in which you get to play as either Android 19, Zarbon, or Dodoria (in case you wanted to know if there are any secondary characters in the game)
4. This is the only game in which the characters aren't Cell shaded (although in Dragonball Z Budokai 3 they fixed up the job a little)

Finally I will end this by saying that even though I only gave this four stars, this game was extremely well made. Again this game is also very good at training you with the controls of the other games so if you are having trouble check it out. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Whoever designed this thing needs to be slapped.
I saw the advertisment for this game and figured I'd try it out. I spent 30 bucks on this thing and was hoping it would actually be worthwhile.....

Graphics: 8- The graphics are pretty good for 32-bit GBA. Energy blasts are the highlight of the Graphics department, when Goku unleashes a huge Spirit Bomb it looks pretty sweet. Yep. It's probably the best thing about the game, not that that's saying much...

Sound: 6- Most of the Sound is annoying, but two or three songs are pretty good. There are a couple power-chord driven rock beats on the game, and since I like hard rock, I liked that background music somewhat, but the rest I didnt care for.

Gameplay: 5- Ehh, who cares. The gameplay wasn't very good. You had about 3 different Specials maximum. It wasn't like Hyper Dimension where each character had dozens of moves. Each character has their signature move along with a really big one. Goku's signature move is Kamehameha, of course, and his ultimate move is Spirit Bomb, which includes a cut scene. The worst part about the gameplay is that (A) You can be extremely cheap by just pressing the Kick button and Forward continuously until the opponent dies, and (B) The limited number of moves you can perform.

In addition to those minor problems, the game isn't very long. There are about 8 characters to unlock, including Broly. That, and after each battle with the GBA you earn points which you can use to unlock Bios, pics from the show and other stuff that no one actually cares about.

I successfully completed the game within a couple hours. And did I mention the Difficulty Levels dont actually DO anything? Easy is just as difficult as Hard. In fact, sometimes Hard is easier than Easy. What happens on the Hard difficulty level is that sometimes the opponent will just stand there and let you beat them to death until when they're almost dead, and THEN they'll start fighting back. It was a VERY irritating aspect of the game.

Final Score: 6- It was okay, it kept my attention for a while......At least until I had mastered every facet of the game, which didnt take long. One of the main problems was how limiting the game was. You could only perform a couple Specials and the game was pretty short overall. I'd say it would be worth Renting, beating the crap out of it, then never playing it again.

3-0 out of 5 stars Depressed DBZ Fan
This was a game that was soposed to be good. When I played it, it stunk. The fighting is too sloppy and the characters heads were a little too big.(especially Vegeta) I was especting this from a low budget company like Atari. This game should have fell into the hands of Capcom they would have made it a good game. This game was basicly a missed opertunity. You can really let down a fan and embarass TV Shows ATARI!!!!!!

3-0 out of 5 stars It's worth ten dollars!
I don't not wan't make you fell bad about getting this, but it's not DBZ quality and lets not speak of GT. This was the last game I had before I sold my Psone. The game play is ok, but the graphics suck now I must remind you this game is old it's very old in Japand. Let me get to the point the energy blast suck they look like there shooting snot bughers. The characters look ok they fight pretty fast. look the point is it depends on how you think it is. I say rent it first if you dont like it or you do you decide. This game to me is just unsatisfing, but one thing I comend this for is the fighting is faster thanon Dragonball Z budokai 1,2.

1-0 out of 5 stars Very tragic indeed...
I don't even know why I got this game in the first place.I mean, come on, Funamation knew this was a horrible attempt at a fighter video game. There's a good selection of characters, but the game is easy to win (simply stand far away and blast away with special energy attacks). Also, music and sounds are horrible. There was literally no voice translations, only title translations. For DBZ fans out there, go buy a PS2 and get Budokai 3.You'll be spending about $180 more than if you've bought UB22, but you'll surely be happy.

3-0 out of 5 stars Good game, but ported to America WAY TOO LATE!
Ultimate Battle 22 (1995.) A Dragon Ball Z fighting game for the Playstation One.

Over the years in Japan, Akira Toriyama's Dragon Ball series has been one of the most successful ones of all. So successful that the series, like many other animes out there, was released in America. The show became an instant success, and soon enough, new American games based on it began to be released. Sadly though, most of the old Japanese games never made it to America. In an effort to keep fans satisfied between the releases of the two Budokai fighting games, Ultimate Battle 22, an old fighting game from 1995 for the Playstation One, got an American release. Read on for my review of it.

PROS:
-OBVIOUSLY, IT'S AN AFFORDABLE GAME. Because this is a Playstation One game, and the Playstation One has been pretty much phased out, the game is less expensive than its Playstation Two counterparts.
-THE GAME USES THE CLASSIC "FIGHTING STORY" COMBAT ENGINE. If you've ever played any of the Fighting Story DBZ fighting games for the Super Famicom/Super Nintendo, you're going to feel right at home with this game. The controls are essentially the same.
-THE GAME HAS A TON OF CHARACTERS. There are twenty-two characters in this game, and twenty-seven if you enter the cheat code! This means you probably won't get bored with it right away.
-MANY CHARACTERS PLAYABLE HERE ARE NOT PLAYABLE IN OTHER DRAGON BALL Z FIGHTING GAMES. For example, the game features Majin Vegeta and two different forms of Majin Buu. This makes gameplay all the more appealing.
-TONS OF BACKGROUNDS. Based on who you're fighting, you'll be taken to one of many backgrounds. The setting only adds to the excitement.

CONS:
-WHY DID THEY EVEN BOTHER RELEASING THIS IN AMERICA!? The fact of the matter is, well, this game was severely outdated LONG AGO! Releasing this game in America just seems questionable. They should have released True Battle History/Shin Butoden (originally for the Sega Saturn) here instead.
-GRAPHICS ARE TERRIBLE. The backgrounds are a very poor attempt at three dimensions, and it's obvious that most of the art in the game was NOT done by Toriyama or any of the original Toei animators.
-NO ALTERNATE COSTUMES/FORMS. Why the hell not?
-NO STORY MODE. This deals a massive blow to the replay value.
-TOO MANY CHARACTERS PLAY ALIKE. To put it simply, many characters only LOOK different - they all play pretty much the same.
-YOU CAN'T SELECT YOUR OPPONENT, STAGE, OR MUSIC. These factors are all selected for you. Why!? Being able to set them to my liking was one of the things I liked about the Super Nintendo/Super Famicom DBZ fighting games.

OVERALL:
If you're a DBZ fan who also likes fighting games, you might want to consider shelling out the cash for this game just because it's so affordable. But be warned - it's not likely that this game will please everyone - it's outdated, after all. Normally I recommend buying a game before renting it, but this one's so cheap, you might as well just buy it if you're thinking about playing it. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Step learning curve,a good game, but plays very slow
Never having played this game before, I was very dissappointed by the instruction manuel which helped not at all. Fortunately there is an on line rule book that helps alot...I kept at it and finally it all came together, and I started enjoying myself. This is a good game with a good strategic element. The major down side is the very slow game play. The machine takes forever to do anything and as a result, a typical game takes about 45min. Also, it would have been nice had the interface been designed to allow you to easily view the opponents cards that are being played, as it stands, you have to go though several screens to get to the information.

2-0 out of 5 stars Don't buy
I gave this game a star for every second it's fun. This game has so many errors in it. First off all the text phrases, "if successful," and "if you declared a tokui-waza," are completely ignored. Secondly, the game was not upto date with the CRD at the time the game was made, so you can put in all the cheap cards you want and make an nearly unbeatable deck, making the game incredibly easy. Thirdly, all cards form all sagas are not included, so you have 1/3 the cards that you should. Also, the whole layout for this game is hard to follow. If you plan on purchasing the Legacy of Goku, instead don't. I beat the game in just over 2 hours, it's a real disappointment.

4-0 out of 5 stars my re review
this game i still rate it good because bottom line its a good game the graphics are great but its hard i went through the tuturial and it still seemed that much harder but after playing against the first person i got how to play (dont read the manual it doesnt help it just wast time and confuses you)i still havent got to the 2nd level but i beet the 1st guy
if you are on a short trip i recomend not getting into more than 1 round they are kinda long if on a long trip just play till your about there and than finish the mach or play till your bored of it then i recomend the legacy of Goku ... Read more
