Editorial Review Ken, sporting corduroy and a goatee? A four-inch high Scooby-Doo, who accompanies this strange amalgamation of manhood, would put it best: "Ruh-roh!" If were truly to believe that Barbies preppy beau is actually the beatnik Shaggy from the cartoon hit, well have to accept his clashing lime green t-shirt, brick-red cords and gray hiking boots as a sign of the times--the 1970s. Mattel has tried as hard as they could, but Ken just doesnt pull off the unkempt-cowardly-geek look: his hair wont frazzle, hes still buff underneath those awful clothes, and the goatee only makes him look like Kurt Cobain. Still, Mattel gets marks for nostalgias sake. --Diane Beall ... Read more Reviews (5)

Editorial Review Even though Barbie would never let Ken wear an orange neck kerchief, its not hard to pass him off as "Fred," hippy leader of the Scooby Doo gang. Fred and Ken actually have a lot in common: Note the blond hair, broad shoulders, sparkling blue eyes, and Colgate smile. Physical likenesses aside, however, these two dudes have definite philosophical differences: Ken drives a gas-guzzling Corvette as a status symbol, for example, and Fred drives a gas-guzzling VW van as a peace symbol. But to make Ken into a completely believable Fred, he is accompanied by a velveteen version of Scooby-Doo, complete with a tiny box of Scooby Snacks.--Diane Beall ... Read more Reviews (4)

Editorial Review While Barbie dances the lead in Swan Lake, Ken is there as always to support his friend. Here is the good looking and good-natured Ken as Prince Daniel, wearing a gray glittery smock with puffy white sleeves, silvery pants, and black boots. His blond hair is topped off with a silvery plastic crown and across his face is a warm smile. To lend more set dressing to this imaginary production of Swan Lake, Ken is accompanied by an actual swan. The swan features gauzy netting and matches up well with Ken as well as Barbie herself (sold separately). Ken is impressively articulated and can be arranged in a number of poses. --Charlie Williams ... Read more Reviews (1)
