5-0 out of 5 stars SIMPSONS...OLD STYLE
This retro flashback simpson's Playset has been designed to look as the Simpson's did when they first premiered way back on the Tracy Ullman show in the 1980's.This was a time when the figures looked a bit cruder and less detailed. They talked a little slower and deeper (especially) Homer.

Here we have Homer, Marge, Bart, Lisa, and little Maggie all standing in their living room.Unfortunately the environment is not compatible with other figures but that's a minor complaint as this set is more of a specialized item anyway. And hey...for the $10 bucks that Amazon is dropping it for you won't get a better deal.Well worth it.Great display piece.

5-0 out of 5 stars JUST WHAT I WAS LOOKING FOR
I was looking for a action figure set of the whole Simpsons Family: Homer, Marge, Bart, Lisa, and Maggie. Now, here are the pros and cons.

Pros:
Contain of whole Simpsons Family
Cheap Price(Bought here)
Fun

Cons:
Living Room NOT compatible with other characters.

5-0 out of 5 stars What's up you toy nerds?
The concept of collecting toys when you can afford a credit card is absurd, that is why I am a toy NERD. This particular flashback set has been out for a while,I'm glad it's cheaper in price cause it's getting ridiculous especially with the independent toy stores. So my review is this: it's good. I saw the picture and I know what I was getting. The delivery was quite efficient and speedy Gonzales. Last I'd like to add that I DO OPEN my toys, cause you only become obsessed with mint condition and never enjoy the essence of the collectables. Get a life me. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars I know I say this every century...
"The Simpsons" is obviously the greatest TV show ever, and anybody who disagrees is on crack. That said, it's pretty hilarious that they've made action figures out of practically every minor character that ever appeared on the show, including several characters that don't even have official names (makes you wonder how many kids' Xmas lists the "Sarcastic Man" popped up on), and of course multiple versions of the main characters as they appear in specific episodes ("Resort Smithers," "Donuthead Homer").The other day I saw the "Stephan Hawking" action figure and I just about peed my pants laughing. But then you have this set, which is based on a tiny 30-second clip at the end of the episode about Mr. Burns' long-lost childhood teddy bear "Bobo."At some indeterminate point in the future, Burns has morphed into a head in a jar of formaldehyde (later a popular run on "Futurama") with a robotic body, while Smithers is naturally his iDog companion. Also included is Smithers as Bobo himself, a reference to an earlier part of the episode where he's trying to console Mr. Burns for the loss of his toy.

I have resisted spending hundreds of dollars trying to collect this entire series of "action figures" like some kind of dork, but I HAD to get this one - it's just so cool and obscure! If only they had made the Homer-drawn chariot into a fully-realized 3D thing!

5-0 out of 5 stars Fantastic Future!
This is one great set in the World of Springfield line! It comes with three great figures that include Future Burns, Future Smithers, and Bobo Smithers. Future Burns is setup like a robot, with his head preserved in a glass container, and the rest of his figure a machine. Future Smithers is the head of Smithers on the body of a robot dog, complete with movable head and four legs. Bobo Smithers comes dressed as Bobo, Mr Burns beloved teddy bear, in a playful stance that actually allows the figure to keep from tipping over, despite being balanced on one leg. Something different about this set, is that the Smithers figures have the glasses glued into their heads, to prevent the tiny accessories from getting lost or damaged. The only real accesory that comes with this set is a beaten up little Bobo figure, somewhat larger than the Bobo that came with Burns Manor. The environment that comes with the set is big enough to hold the two larger figures, while Future Smither prances about. The actual set itself is purple with a yellow background of Homer being used as a slave to lead a cart of rocks. If you love the show or the toy line, this is a must have set!

4-0 out of 5 stars Simpsons Burns and Bobo set is a winner!!

Editorial Review

Anyone can become a megamillionaire just like Mr. Burns with thiscollector's edition of Monopoly based on The Simpsons, the beloved,sometimes-controversial animated TV series. The rules of the game remain thesame, but the old Monopoly properties are now all Springfield landmarks, with anew monorail running across the game board. Players use tiny pewter game tokensof Bart, Homer, and other Springfield characters as they purchase stores, restaurants, and homes. Who wouldn't want to buy Krustylu Studios or theKwik-E-Mart? Instead of acquiring houses and hotels, players try to accumulate monorailstops and stations on their properties. Customized Chance and Community Chestcards offer additional sly references and cartoon drawings of the characters. The cultural references are up-to-the-minute, but the educational value ofplaying strategic board games remains constant. --Marcie Bovetz, mother andformer children's librarian ... Features

  • The World of Springfield and the World of Monopoly collide.
  • All the rules of Monopoly and all the style of The Simpsons.
  • Includes 6 collectible pewter tokens - Homer as the monorail conductor, Kang, Bart, Blinky, Santa's Little Helper and Jebediah Springfield.
  • Special Offer inside the game allows you to collect additional tokens.

5-0 out of 5 stars Simpsons monoply
This game kicks major @$$.
buy this over any other monoply game

4-0 out of 5 stars Exxxcellent!!!!
This is an extremely great version of what is the greatest board game ever created. The rules are of course exactly the same but the Simpsons properties, money, Chance and Community Chess cards and everything else make it a fresh experience. The fact that the game board and game tokens are monorail themed does date it a little reducing it to a four and a half star rating. I would have preferred it wasn't that way with just the four train stations monorail themed. It is still great though but I would also like to have seen more game tokens of the other family members especially Grandpa and Maggie, and also other characters like Mr Burns in addition or instead of the doughnut. They could have also put Snake in the jail cell on that corner of the board rather than the traditional Monopoly criminal icon and Chief Wigum on the Go to Jail Square but maybe I'm just being picky.

This is an excellent gift idea for anyone who even only occasionally enjoys the Simpsons and a must for anyone who is a fan. Also recommended to enjoy the game even more is Monopoly Companion The Players Guide by Philip Orbanes. This book will refresh the rules and save arguments and even teach you some, such as I never knew the number of houses was limited for a reason so that you could strategise and not buy hotels to stop someone else with a set from building.Just buy the game, you won't be disappointed!

5-0 out of 5 stars Great, Great Fun!!!!!!

This colorful chess set combines the classic game of strategy and intellect with the wacky and wonderful characters that inhabit the world of the Simpsons. Packed in an attractive metal storage box, the set comes with a fold-up playing board and a complete set of playing pieces. The pieces are all durable, and can probably handle a lot of abuse and mistreatment without being damaged. As a result, fans of the show could also use the pieces as action figures or perch them on a desktop or bookshelf when they are not engaged in a battle of wills on the chessboard. With Homer and Marge Simpson as the king and queen respectively, the chess set also features Bart (bishop), Lisa (rook), and Maggie (pawn) Simpson, as well as Krusty the Clown (knight). --Chris Burns ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Great For A Psychologist
This is a great game, it helps do my customers iq's. And its simpsons chess, not an ordinary chess set.

5-0 out of 5 stars The Simpson's play Chess?
This is an excellent gift idea for anybody! This chess set is definitely gets an A+ for fun! Even if you're not a Simpson's fan or haven't heard much about them, this set wonderfully symbolizes the intelligence of the family. Homer is crowned with a beer in his hand while Marge stands taller than the king himself with a rose close to her chest. There is Bart as the bishop, Lisa as the rook, Krusty as the knight, and Maggie portrayed as the pawn. I am surprised, however, that Flanders was not the Bishop. Afterall, he is the holiest of people, the most spiritual to spirits, and the most faithful of all God's faithless souls!
I was asked to rank this toy on an educational level and I gave it four stars. I did so because it is a game of chess. Simply, chess is an educational game that increases your sense of logic and reasoning. Although it is the Simpson's that we are talking about, the fact that if a person can play well with these peices without mixing them up with confusion, then I think you've accomplished something. Skill. As with any chess pieces that are represented by other characters or symbols, you obtain a good sense of awareness and strategy.
This toy is a very fun toy and I would reccommend it to anyone, ESPECIALLY if they enjoy watching the Simpson's. It is fun to play, fun to watch, and fun to display. Friends should definitely be impressed with this chess set!

Editorial Review

Okay, it's not the most complex toy that's ever been attempted. They didn't re-invent the rules of the classic murder mystery game Clue, they simply reproduced it with characters, locations, and weapons from the world of The Simpsons. But that simplicity is what makes this set so much darn fun. In this version, Mr. Burns has been found dead. Marge is now Mrs. Peacock, Homer is Mr. Green, Krusty is Colonel Mustard, Bart is Professor Plum, Lisa takes the role of Miss Scarlet, and, perhaps most delightfully, Waylon Smithers, is Mrs. White. Weapons include a poison donut and a plutonium rod, while locales include the power plant and Krustylu Studios. If all these references confuse you, well, it's still a game of Clue and a great game to play. But if these references send you off into a gleeful reverie of repeated catch phrases and favorite episode memories, then you really need this game. --John Moe ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars The Best Simpson Game Yet
This game is packed with fun and surprises. Simpson fans will love this game. I was a big fan of Clue before this game came out and now since it is the Simpson Edition I play this game nonstop. Mr. Burns is found dead and Chief Wiggum rounds up six suspects who are most likly the ones who commited the crime.
Homer Simpson plays Mr. Green
Marge Simpson plays Mrs. Peacock
LisaSimpson plays Miss Scarlet
BartSimpson plays Professor Plum
Krusty the Clown plays Colonel Mustard
Waylon Smithers plays Mrs. White

You have to find out where the crime was commited
Was it at the....
Kwik-E-Mart
Burn's Manor
Barney's Bowl-a-Rama
The Simpson House
Springfield Retirement Castle
Nuclear Power Plant
The Frying Dutchman
The Andromeda's Dungeon
Krustylu Studios

And what really killed Mr. Burns?

The Posioned Donut
Extend-O-Glove
Necklace
Slingshot
Plutonium Rod
Saxophone

What a great game it is. Everyone will get that great feeling when you open the "Case File CONFIDENTAL" envelope and find out who really killed Mr. Burns where they commited it and what weapon did they use. It actually feels like you work for the CSI.

1-0 out of 5 stars Fun, but cheaply made
I greatly enjoyed this puzzle for about 20 minutes. After that, it was in broken pieces. The problem is the oddly shaped pieces do not align well, and any amount of force breaks the inner structure and ruins the whole toy.So, if it was made better it would be an awesome toy. However, its so cheaply made I dont recommend getting it.

4-0 out of 5 stars Great puzzle, but be careful
I got the Homer's head puzzle and the classic Rubick's cube for Christmas.Being a huge Simpson's fan, and a tad intimidated with the cube I started playing around with Homer's head, and found that I could solve it.Like others have said it's deceptively complicated, but lots of fun.The *only* downside to this puzzle is that it does seem to break easily.I broke mine last night and was bummed out.I don't think there's any way to fix it.So, get this fun puzzle, but be gentle with it.

4-0 out of 5 stars Fun Factor
I purchased Homer's Head for my son-in-law as a Christmas present 2 years ago. All day everyone played with it,then put it down. My son, picked it up and turned it every which way he could to mix it up. My son-in-law then tried to solve it. No luck! Two years later still unsloved, with many hours of trying to solve it between several relatives, my son again picked it up, turned it once and it broke apart! I feel this toy is good for adults with the patience to keep trying, but not for children. I plan to buy my son-in-law another one since he is a very big Homer fan. 5-0 out of 5 stars another winner from Playmates
Once again, Playmates has demonstrated their faithful dedication to converting 2-dimensional cartoon characters into 3-D toys that look exactly like their celluloid counterparts.

Chalmers comes with a customized coffee mug, a telephone (which fits nicely in his hand) and a clipboard with a checklist on Principal Skinner's failings. About the only thing in the "yes" column is the "US Flag in order," but poor Skinner gets checks in the "no" column, including in the row "riot quelled?"

Original voice for Chalmers is activated by putting him in the various Springfield environments.

4-0 out of 5 stars SKINNER!
"Skinner with his crazy explanations,
Superintendant's gonna need his medication,
be-lieving Skinners lame exaggerations,
there'll be trouble in town to-night"

Super-Nintendo Chalmers rocks. He always comes out with the best put-downs for Skinner and is the perfect foil for him. My fave scenes is when he going to give Springfield Elementary a full 10/10 for the first time.

"I'll just put the ZERO first." He says. "And now a vertical line to indicate the 1..."

Needless to say a riot tramples before he gets to.

The toy itself is quite fun. So far it is my first in the World of Springfield figures. Place him in certain playsets and he'll talk. The accessories that come with him are a clipboard (with a bad ratings checklist on it), a phone and a personalized mug. They all fit in his hands and he is pose-able. Not only this but he is quite sturdy. The Movie Maniac series of toys tend to break easily but there is not way this guy will.

Have fun, with Chalmers and the rest. ... Read more

Of course, the pictures of various Simpsons characters in place of traditional dots is the main draw for these dominoes, but our favorite thing is their impressive heft. Made of heavy-duty ceramic, the dominoes make a satisfying, authoritative clack when placed on a hard surface. The set is described on the box as "super-sized" but they're really only slightly larger than standard dominoes. There are a total of 28 pieces--the standard number for most domino games--and the correct number of doublets (dominoes with the same picture on each side). The thick tin box is also a nice bonus. It's like a slimmer version of those old metal lunchboxes, but imprinted with Simpsons art and witticisms. Unfortunately, the box seems to have not been designed specifically for the dominoes, which rattle around once they have been removed from the plastic bags that hold them in place initially. Still, the set is overall, as Mr. Burns would say, "Excellent!" --David Stoesz ... Read more

Editorial Review

A decade's worth of outrageous story lines, and funny, intelligent writing has garnered a loyal following for The Simpsons--and no character on the show has been more popular than the TV family's patriarch, Homer J. Simpson. But after watching those hundreds of episodes and spending millions of brain cells remembering all that trivia, what are Simpsons fans to do with their extra time? To the rescue comes this Homer-specific trivia game packed in a handy tin case. The questions are divided into five difficulty levels, though even the easy questions presuppose a deep knowledge of Simpson lore. Players will soon discover that in the game's multiple choice questions, the funniest answer is always correct. The directions for actual gameplay can get a bit confusing, and, though the setup allows people of various levels of expertise to play together, this won't be much fun for non-Simpsons fans. Hardcore fans will have a blast just reading the well-researched questions. The collectable tin case, shaped like Homer's head, is eye-catching on a bookcase or shelf, and an included miniposter featuring some 300 characters makes for an attractive wall hanging, too. ... • No? Well, don't fret like that pansy Flanders! Inside this tin are lots more questions about Springfield's number one father, Homer.
  • You can compete with your freinds, or other Simpson fans. See who knows more about Homer (and what's more important than that?) . It's more fun that 'Deviled-egg Nite' at Moes't Tavern!
  • And guess what? The game comes with a Simpsons cast poster. Whoo-hoo!

My mom bought this for me knowing that I am a Simpsons fan and have been for 15 years. However, the questions are completelyobscure and there is no "game" to this game.It is a game only the most extreme Simpsons aficionado could understand, let alone enjoy. If you think you know anything about the Simpsons, don't buy this. You'll just get a little angry about your lack of knowledge as only the "Comic Book Guy" could have any success at this "game".

This game is fun, will make you laugh, and is a perfect gift....If you LOVE the Simpsons. My family and i have watched the Simpsons since it started in 1989 and even before that as animated shorts on the Tracy Almon Show and despite all the knowledge we had of it we still were not able to make the grade.I would only recommend this if you have most of the episodes almost memorized. ... 3-0 out of 5 stars Not a bad game
My girlfriend and I played this game and found that, though it has nothing to do with the Simpsons, that it isn't half bad.I agree with other reviewers that the question cards are the most interesting part of the game (how did she know I don't like Pork Rinds?), but I we stuck with the whole thing because we're competative and wanted to see who'd win.

3-0 out of 5 stars Irreverent Game based on fun and chance, not strategy
"Loser Takes All" has all the irreverent feel of the TV show. The rules are too loose to make the game all that challanging for the very competetive and the game's strategy (lose all your money/tokens/character cards) seem like it was designed by Bart and Homer during a commercial. This is primarily a game of chance and luck and one's fortunes (the losing or gaining of the cash/tokens /cards) can change quickly many times during the game. The questions fall into two categories: dares (For $5000 would I wear the same outfit for 100 days in a row?) and personal trivia (How many teeth have I had pulled?).

I recommend this game for families, for those who want a less competetive game and like looking at Simpsons characters, and as a modified drinking game at parties.

2-0 out of 5 stars Not a good game, low on Simpsons content
I got this game as a Christmas gift, from friends who know how I enjoy the show. In true Simpsons self deprecating style, the box has a generic Krusty "I heartily endorse this game" cartoon, as well as a "don't be brainwashed by corporate propaganda" warning from Lisa. Unfortunately this game could have come right out of a Krusty catalogue: it's a generic product with a Simpsons gloss.

The game has little to do with the Simpsons. OK, the game pieces are Simpsons characters, and the toy money has Homer's head in place of George Washington. But the association with the show is superficial.

The aim of the game is to lose all your money and junk food tokens. You do this by taking turns with a spinner and wandering around the board trying to land on squares that will unload your food or money onto another player.

Sometimes you get to take questions, in this part of the game you read a question from a card and write down an answer. You then nominate another player to guess the answer. Some questions are goofy, like "What is the opposite of hamburger?". Others are personal, like "Do I ask for directions when I'm lost?" or "have I ever worked on a farm?". The questions mostly take an irreverant tone ("Would I ever try to make one of the Queen's guards laugh?"), but there is nothing offensive. There's not too much American-only content, most the questions aren't specific to the US, and some that are, such as "Do I know how a bill is passed through Congress?" (yes, actually) can easily be altered to fit any nationality.

By answering questions correctly, players get to turn over one of their five character cards (if they guess wrong the questioned player turns over his card). When a player gets all five, the game ends and the player with the least assets wins.

In playing the game, I found the lack of rules (you can start anywhere on the board and move pretty much anywhere) to be a minus point. As in society, anarchy equals less freedom, not more. The game lacks direction and people have too many choices -- more like chess than a fast family game.

After a while we ditched the game and just read questions off the cards. Due to the lack of rules, shy players can easily avoid the question squares (though they might get questions from the spinner) so the game itself falls down as a "getting to know you" tool too.

Overall I was quite disappointed. I was looking forward to a game for Simpsons enthusiasts. Instead, I found a game where knowledge of the show is of no benefit at all. You don't even learn anything about the Simpsons, really.

And if I may, I'd like to take issue with the idea that Homer is a loser. OK, he's a bit of a loser, but he has provided for his family for more than ten years, and resisted the advances of both Beverly D'Angelo and Michelle Pfeiffer. How many men can say that? ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars local quack Monroe
Marvin Monroe is one of the many quacks that inhabit Springfield. He advertises regularly on Springfield television on how he can save marriages and families with his alternative techniques, including electric shocks and banging each other over the head with foam bats.

Dr. Monroe includes 4 accessories, a foam bat (really hard plastic), a diploma, a bundle of cash and a clipboard with his "notes" which is really a hilarious sketch of a very angry Homer.

The details of this figure are hilarious, from his frumpled tie, glasses and zig-zag facial hair. ... Read more

From the pointy haircut to the troublemaker's grin, this tough vinyl mask lets you assume theidentity of Springfield's most notorious fourth grader. Just pull on the 14-inch-tall mask,and--voilà!--you're Bart Simpson for the night.
